/r/AnimationCrit
A friendly space to receive and give feedback on each other's character animations. All skill levels and tools welcome.
Please note that all posts have to include a question or request for feedback in the TITLE, not comments. Your submission also has to be a character animation, video editing and animatics are not allowed.
Welcome to /r/animationcrit, a friendly space where you can post your animations and receive feedback!
RULES:
You cannot post someone else's work, commercial work, etc. Your post also has to include an animation in some stage of progress.
Animation in this case is defined by creating the illusion of movement through a rapid succession of handcrafted images. Recordings of your screen does not count as animation, low effort animation has to take rule 4 into account.
This is a forum for giving and receiving feedback, and in order to encourage conversation around an animated piece the post needs to include a specific question or a request. It is not enough to simply post "This is my animation", the post has to show that you are interested in hearing what people have to say about it.
Here are a few examples of what you could ask: "How can I improve this animation?" "What's missing in this animation?" "What do you think about the art style?"
We will assume that you are posting to this subreddit to grow and improve as an animator, and then likes/views/shares don't matter. If you are looking to share your animation with the world, try posting to /r/animation.
We welcome animation that is work in progress, however we ask that you describe where you are in the progress using one of these words in the title: storyboard, animatic, boardomatic, leica reel, blocking, or a similar term you think suits.
If your work is simply "low effort", meaning it's more of an image slide show than an animation, this will not count as an actual animation. Animation needs to convey the illusion of movement to count as such, image slide shows does not accomplish this.

I’ve been working on this animation for quite a while now I’ve worked on this for a total amount of time of 23 hours ever since the 8th of January note: I’m self taught and pretty much new to animation take this in whichever way you want the MC’s name is Ren Shigure. Ren meaning reslience through pain and Shigure meaning melancholy rain , got any better names or nah?
Hello guys , I am a recent graduate and This is my demo reel , I`d like to have a feedback over it considering everything , Thank you
Spent the last 6-7 months working on and off on this Lego Fallout animation. It has my best animation and vfx put into it. Would appreciate some feedback
So me and my friend have been using capcut to make these videos which is what's posted as a link on this, and capcut was recently banned in America so I want something that's easy to use very easy cuz it would take us I don't know maybe 30 hours worth of work to make one of these episodes,or less depending. I know regular animation software is extremely intensive time-wise. Just want to know if anyone has any good alternatives/recommendations that let us take it up a notch, other video editor recommendations are welcome as well but, as it stands premiere is horrible DaVinci is buggy a very poor to use, and I've tried a dozen other ones none of them seem to even come close to the ease of use speed just common sense I guess? I've heard sfm should be easy but just want to tread the water for a minute and not tunnel vision on it. We've made about 4 episodes in this style, we wanted to get about 10 made before moving on to where we are forced to go now I'd say.
Hi guys, I just finished one semester and I had to rush to make this film since I underestimated the time I would need to finish. I would love some critique on it. It could be anything, storytelling, pacing, art direction etc etc. Excuse the sound design since I'm not a sound designer 😅. Thanks!
I wanted to share this animation and I am looking for feedback on the character's animation and the worldbuilding (but any other remarks are welcome!).
The animation is made with a Maya Rig called Tyler Rig by Tim van Dulmen.
And rendering shading, basically everything else up to comp is done in blender.
Comping was done in Nuke.
Thankyou!
Hello everyone, I’m Ben, a passionate voice actor looking to volunteer my services for any animation projects in need of voices. Whether you're working on a short film, series, or anything else, I’m eager to help bring your characters to life.
I’m new to the scene and want to build my portfolio, so I’m offering my voice for free in exchange for experience. I can adapt to a variety of characters and voices. If you're an animator or part of a studio and need a voice actor, feel free to reach out!
Thanks for your time, and I’m excited to collaborate on something creative!

Hello everyone, i picked up animation 4 days ago and made my first YouTube video today. I wanted to ask for some tips and critique if possible
And also how to make good use of time, because it took me 4 days to finish a 01:30 minute video
Thank you in advance. Any info helps
I hope you like it (it isn't anything special)
I'm struggling over that part where the dragon uses his tail as a whip. What else do you see that needs work. Do I need more exaggeration?
