The Chromecast with Google TV is a streaming dongle launched by Google. It runs Google TV, a slightly reskinned version of Android TV. For the moment, we have decided to continue supporting and discussing it here.
Over time, based on how Google begins to rebrand the entire OS, we may move to /r/GoogleTV. Plenty of notice will be given beforehand.

So most TVs Ethernet ports are limited to 100mbps which is inadequate for high bitrate 4k bluray rips. I've heard you can use a USB to Ethernet adapter to get better speeds but it can be hit or miss with compatibility?
I have the 2024 TCL QM7 which is running Google TV 12 and has a USB 3.0 port. Should I worry about getting a specific model? If so what should I go for? I was eyeballing the Ugreen or Cable matters USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapters.
Every time there is a power interruption on my 2024 ONN 4K I get signed out of Netfilx. This only seems to happen to this app. All others I stay signed in to. Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?
I got onn. 4k from Amazon US delivered in Singapore. worked fine for 2 days until i did a factory reset for some reason and now it is saying 'unsupported region'. I did't enable usb debugging so no way to get in. its not allowing to sign in and go to settings.
is this device completely bricked for me now ? any workaround would be much appreciated .
I'm trying to sideload the Cox Contour TV app following these instructions however I cannot get any variant of Firefox nor Chrome to install on my TV. I download the APK using the downloader app, attempt to install and it just tells me "app not installed". I should have more than enough storage space, I don't think that is the issue.
I think a web browser is required because the Contour app wants you to sign in to Cox, when I launch the Contour app all I see if a "sign in" button and when I click it it tells me "you don't have an app that can do this". Presumably it is trying to kick me to a browser but I don't have one installed that it recognizes.
I've tried installing the web browsers that are available on the app store but none of them seem to work for this use.
Any fix for this?
Hi everyone !
I just bought a new Skyworth E5500A television for my mother. I can't remove subtiles and she says it's annoying. I followed instructions, but they keep appearing.
I clicked on settings, accessibility, caption. It doesn't change anything if it's ON or OFF.
Please help me.
Have read that Nokia 8010 stream box is not manufactured any more True or false
Looking for a android tv box with a tuner in it so it could be directly plugged in to an antenna. Parents were using a Telstra tv (version of a Roku box) which was like that but Telstra are bricking them all tomorrow. Only option I’ve found so far is the mecool kt1 which is an old box and out of stock.
Currently using a fire stick 4K for them with stremio and the ausTV add on for now but looking for a better solution as switching sources every time is too much for them.
So looking for anything which you can side load on (preferable) or if not has stremio on it as we have RD, and able to watch live OTA tv without the use of something like a hdhomerun
TIA
I have a xiaomi mi box s and currently I have to use 2 remotes to use my system. Is it be possible to just use xiaomi's remote alone, meaning that simultaneously turn on/off my video projector? And how to make it happen?

Trying to install this app. I have a Sony Bravia TV and it says it's not compatible. Is there a different version? Is there some way to get the app on my Android TV?
If you're using the Uni-to-USB Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, or (possibly?) any newer USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter with the Realtek RTL8153 chip in it, here's a quick heads up: the new Firmware update for the ONN 4K Pro basically breaks it. I'm not sure why this firmware update would make any sort of change to how it interfaces with the ethernet adapter being plugged into its USB 3.0 port, but it apparently does. This is also being noted in the ONN 4K Firmware Update thread from yesterday.
You will have to switch over to WiFi, or use the 10/100 plug that is in the box itself. The USB 3.0 adapter you had in there that was getting you your much higher speeds will stop working. Going into dev mode and turning off USB debugging, or turning off dev mode entirely, will not fix it. You can do all that stuff, you can unplug it and plug it back in, and you might get it to recognize the adapter. The box will show that the ethernet is connected - but even in those instances where that happens, the speeds moving through it are severely crippled (I'm talking like 14-20mb).
So anyway: this sucks! If you haven't updated yet, and you're using one of these adapters, maybe don't update! I don't know. If anyone's got any solutions for how they got this working again on their box, please share them below! If you've got an adapter that is still working post update, please list it. If your adapter has in fact gone belly-up post-update, please list that, too.
(It also keeps popping up a stupid Dolby Vision badge in the upper right corner of the screen despite the fact it's putting out SDR video and the TV can't even do Dolby Vision but that's a whole nother thing)
Does anyone know why the Google Streamer is unavailable everywhere? The Google store shows a crazy long delivery window and going to Home Depot/Lowes/Best Buy all say they’re out of stock. Shouldn’t be surprised Google dropped the ball on a launch but still.
I was trying to use the search function in stremio, but the onscreen keyboard wouldn’t pop up.
The same thing happens when I try searching the Google store.
If a given app uses the android OS on screen keyboard, it won’t work.
I’ve tried rebooting, clearing cache, etc. I can’t seem to sort thing out. I saw others in the stremio sub experiencing the same but no clear resolution.
Any ideas?
I’m running an Nvidia Shield with the latest software. Im also running projectivity, which im hoping isn’t triggering the issue, but would like to exhaust other options before I go through the trouble of disabling it.
i've been thinking about getting a new streaming box for a while because my Mi Box S has been getting slow recently, so i was wondering if this would be a downgrade or upgrade. (sorry if my english is a bit bad, english is not my first language)
The tv turns on, the remote works i mean the volume goes up and down but i js doesnt show anything? What should I do? Btw it’s a starlight tv
Due to a series of unfortunate events automatic updates and other conundrums I had to factory reset my television. What I hadn’t realized, is that the external USB drive, that I used to store all the instances of my apps and data a very famous streaming/multimedia program (K) and resulting files would be completely invisible though recognized as plugged in.
Is there anything out there to read said formatted Drive on another operating system like windows or Mac or any way to access these files without reformatting the drive for use again ?
This started last week, I went to launch the Disney+ app on my TV and it said it needed updating. Cool, no problem, I click Update. The message "Cannot update Disney+" comes up, along with a boilerplate Google support URL.
To try and solve the issue, I've tried:
The TV is a TCL 55c745k running what appears to be Android TV OS Version 12. I'm in the Europe region if that makes any difference.
If anyone has any idea what's causing this or any other fixes I can try, I'd appreciate it.
I have been using an active USB cable to wire my Xbox controller to it so I can have the vibration enabled and to have less lag from the controller. It worked a few times but the last couple days it has stopped working. Is there someway to make it work every time? I even tried to plug it in without the long active cable and just a short cable and it still didn't work. Any ideas?
Hi how do I connect my s23 ultra with samsung dex on my android tv its a Philips TV and i cannot even connect it via smart screen is there a third party app to screen mirror for android tv ive seen chromecast but i want the full mirroring thanks

My favourite app on AndriodTV is Haystack News. Does anyone know of any similar apps? I like how it serves up a neat packet of news videos for free. It is sort of random what it will show but I like how it selects a playlist based on preferences.
I've been getting this popup every time I open the app without an internet connection and it says "To comply with GDPR regulations blah blah location" and I have to choose the location every single time I open the app so any way around this? And am I the only one facing this?
I have an android TV box that I'm trying to use as Plex Client but it sometimes buffers during 4K movies in direct play, using openspeedtester to connect to my local server I observed that the speed with a LAN Cable (CAT5E) is caped to 100Mbps, and on WiFi the speed goes up to 250Mbps, so I imagine the LAN Port of the Box is caped with this hardware limit, but how can I properly check it? Tried DevCheck and AIDA64 but no proper info, also tried using an ugreen LAN adapter that I use in my Nintendo Switch but no use, the box doesn't recognize
Can anybody suggest a decent TV remote that's either bluetooth or 2.4GHZ that can also be setup for IR buttons if needed? I want one that has the numeric keypad for direct channel entry and one with a button that can be mapped for PiP by sending a "P" key. The best option I have at the moment is a Tivo IR remote combined with a FLIRC. IR functions are notoriously slow compared to 2.4GHZ ones though.
The issue with a Tivo remote (or any IR remote) is that it's not fast enough to go up and down menu lists efficiently. The Nvidia Shield TV remote is great at this but does not have a numeric keypad or a key which can be easily mapped to PiP. I could probably fix the PiP issue by using a button mapper app but still no keypad.
I have a G30 remote that's close to what I'd like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BG77J9L9
Maybe I can make it work with button remapping on the media controls. The other issue with it is that the enter key is not the same as the enter/OK key for all functions. Again, maybe button mapping can fix it.
If the numeric keypad is too much to ask for then a page up/page down function would probably be good enough since a non-IR remote makes these functions wicked fast for navigation. I don't need the air mouse operation or a full keyboard or voice operation.
My current AndroidTV device is the original Nvidia Shield if that makes a difference.
Hey guys, I have an issue and I was hoping that someone had a fix for me. I use my Onn 4k for watching Stremio and have it set up to do Ethernet over a USB adapter. I also use tvQuickActionsPro (tvQA) to unlock more controls, including rebooting the Stremio app, but it requires USB debugging. It was working in my old apartment, but after moving and getting it hooked up, I can’t get the USB hub to detect the Ethernet unless I disable USB debugging. This didn’t used to be an issue, but I can’t figure out how to get it working like it used to. A lot of my tvQA features rely on USB debugging being enabled, and this has really kneecapped my needs. Does anyone know how to either have the box maintain the USB configuration setting as USB Ethernet past reboots or to get the external hub to work with Ethernet with USB debugging enabled?
Alternately, does anyone know how I can set up shortcuts for quickly rebooting an app (ideally in a single button press) without needing ADB debugging support? This is my main feature I use; when the video stream starts stuttering, I just reboot the app, and without ADB debugging, tvQA cannot reboot the app with one button press anymore.
Speaker volume added.
