Lost Carry on in Gate

Had 3 connectors today and while I was in Orlando airport I some how misplaced my carry on bag. It has $6k worth of watches and clothes in it. When I went to lost and found they said they didn’t have it yet. The lost and found doesn’t open until 6am. Am I fucked?

An odd question

What happens to a person's luggage if they are arrested at an airport upon re-entry to their country in order to handle a legal matter? Do the bags pull a Houdini and magically disappear? Are the police nice enough to go and grab their luggage for them? (joke). Can that person have a contact go to the airport to retrieve their luggage for them due to obvious reasons as to why they cannot pick it up themselves?

Nervous first time flyer

I’m only 16 years old flying ALONE for the first time (no this is not my first time flying but it is my first time flying alone). I had originally thought I would be qualified to be an unaccompanied minor on board, but turns out I’d have to pay extra for it. My parents tell me I will be fine because I’ve done it before, but I don’t remember the steps because we would always travel late at night or early in the morning.

My second problem is I don’t know how to navigate layovers. I don’t ever remember having layovers before, or maybe I have and don’t remember. I just go look for the second boarding place right?

I’m also planning on going with just a carry on and a personal item. I just don’t know how to navigate check in or security, though I would probably be able to find my terminal.

Any tips or advice/assistance? I’m nervous and I’m planning on flying next month.

Why can’t airlines be more transparent regarding flight delays & cancellations?

Flying thru CLT Wednesday afternoon & severe weather caused all flights to be delayed or cancelled. My flight kept showing it would board in 30 mins for about 8 hours till it was finally cancelled due to crew timing out. Why not just tell ppl the truth so we can leave the airport & come back the next day? So frustrating to see so many ppl in distress with no answers.

How to claim for Violation of my Rights by Boarding Agents in Istanbul Airport !

My wife and I, both 65+ were travelling to Canada through connection flights involving legs from Istanbul Airport to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Vancouver by Lufthansa, but Turkish security ladies at the boarding gate denied us of flight without giving any reason and just making nonsense questions and allegedly saying we couldn’t fly to Frankfurt because of lack of visa while we had Canadian visa, and could use Frankfurt Airport as a connection by Lufthansa flights like several other similar passengers. Nobody listened to us in that strange airport, and we decided to get back home with lots of extra expenses for return tickets and also baggage, accommodation and other expenses. Turkish Airport didn’t reply to my feedback, and Lufthansa replied with a negative respond to my claim for denied boarding. I’m wonder how I can claim for our violated rights !

Searching Lufthansa upTrip App Cards

Lufthansa's uptrip app is celebrating its first anniversary these days and has therefore put up A4-sized pictures with a QR code or similar on them at various locations at airports. Has anyone seen this?

Declaring Small Quantities of Questionable Stuff at the Border

Hey, I'm just curious if anyone knows what happens if you declare something illegal at the border, like small quantities. I was wanting to bring some edible CBD (no THC) products into Australia, just for personal use, and wasn't sure how serious of a crime it would be, if at all. If I declare it, and it is in fact illegal, can I just throw them in the bin or is it more likely I'll be charged with something? Thanks.

Liquid scanners are a thing so why are liquids still restricted on planes ?

Hello,

More than 10 years ago by now I had looked for Ceia online and had found special liquid scanners on their website. (Out of curiosity after having seen the name on a metal detector).

Those appear to have been specially designed for the liquid explosive threat that causes the 100 ml limit on most if not every flight since... Whenever it came.

The machine on the other hand can tell in seconds if a particular liquid actually poses a threat or if it's safe enough to be allowed to board the flight.

All the security officer has to do is to put the bottle, can or whatever container of liquid or paste inside the recess and to look for the word OK or its opposite on a colorful little screen to tell whether the liquid is safe or not.

The machine is about the size of a microwave according to the pictures I have seen online and they even thought of large or oddly-shaped containers that won't fit in it.

For those the officer can pour a sample of the supicious fluid into a tiny disposable cup that goes in a special holder on the side of the machine for it to be scanned the same way as described before.

I have seen pictures online but also a video of one of London's busiest airports and those liquid detectors could be seen in it.

So, if those machines exist and are in fact used at least by some airports, why do the restrictions still apply to passengers ?

Why can't they simply scan every container of liquid that passengers want to have in their carry-on and allow the harmless ones while rejecting those that actually raise the alarm ?

To find more info about the machine you can look for Ceia liquid detector on Google.

Thank's for the replies.

Dual Nationality

Hello! I got 2 passports (Palestinian & Japanese) and I plan to travel to Dubai next week. I want to use the Japanese to enter Dubai since I can enter for 30 days visa free, but when returning to Jordan ( We can't travel except from there) I want to use the Palestinian passport because the Japanese needs a visa to enter. What shall I do exactly? Will it be an issue?

Stealing in flights - new normal

Was reading the news article and found it very disturbing. As airports and flights are considered safe. I recently read a Redit article on similar lines.

Who else wants to be Ryan Bingham?

“Up in the Air” is one of my favorite movies. I’m not crazy about the firing people for a living part of his life but oh my god I’d love to travel 300 days out of the year on a status seeking mission.

Does anyone else feel most at ease at airport lounges and hotel bars or am I insane?

Security Concern with Clear Services

My wife and I signed up for the Clear TSA check at the airport so that we could have expedited customs. The Clear Ambassador asked me for my drivers license. He then held it in front of the handheld “iphone” camera and it looked like he took a photo of it. He then told me he needed to call his “manager”. He called “manager” and spoke to him for a total of 8-10 seconds while facing his back to me mumbling. I noticed that on his phone as he was on the call, the caller ID profile picture was a photo of a man in civillian clothes wearing a snapback - very unofficial and casual.

We asked a customs staff and he said it seemed dodgy and that no one on the floor should be allowed to take photos of personal documents using a cellphone. I’ve called the Clear call centre five times today and I cannot get straight forward answer. I’ve been told a range of things from “staff are not allowed to take photos of your ID,” to “they do have devices to verify your identity.” I was advised that these devices that Clear provides is NOT a phone, but rather a device. The Clear call centre worker also advised me that Clear workers do bring their personal devices onto the floor at the airport (in addition to the work device). So you’re telling me that any Clear employee can simply just take a photo of my ID potentially while using a personal device?!

Has anyone else dealt with this!? I need some peace of mind.

-I need to know if this is normal protocol for Clear employees (to have work phones they can use to scan/take photos of ID’s + can make phone calls on)

  • I need to know that they can custom-select the profile photos for the saved contacts phone/device that they have the jurisdiction to scan/take a photo of your ID using this device Any clarification regarding this device and the protocol around obtaining ID and communicating with staff would be greatly appreciated.

Protein Powder into US

I would like to bring 60mg of protein power into the plane.

I know we can bring up to 350ml of powder, but I’m skeptical. How will the airport know it’s not coke? Because that seems an efficient way to traffic the drug.

Middle Name vs Middle Initial (TSA)

I recently went to get TSA Precheck and brought my drivers license, my passport, and my birth certificate. My passport and my drivers license both have my first, middle initial, and last name. However, my birth certificate has my full middle name. The woman doing my precheck at the office was quite upset with this and told me that I brought incorrect information with me and that I would need to send my passport back to the state department to get it fixed to match my birth certificate. I have an international trip in 2 weeks and she stated “good luck getting through with those documents”. I was a bit confused as she ended up putting it through anyways however she did create an alias for me under my full middle name which I found to be quite odd. It is far too close to the trip to send my passport back at this point. Does anybody have any experience with TSA/ International security from other countries having an issue with the middle initial vs full middle name? Any insight is much appreciated
