I know the current trend is to hype the update (and possibly farm karma points doing it), but I think what happened in my latest race shows some areas where things could be improved, I would even say it shows a step backwards in several core aspects:
GT3 race at Spa against the AI, I am driving the 992.
Second lap of the race, I am following an Audi, in Blanchimont, taking advantage of the new "improved" physics, I cut the kerb massively, which not only does not send my car flying but actually allows for a tighter exit (almost no feeling in the wheel when I went over the kerb and put my right wings in the grass), so I quickly find myself to the side of the Audi, slowly gaining ground.
As my front bumper gets in front of the Audi, the Audi suddenly get a boost of speed and, within 2 seconds, gets in front of me, moves on my line, and slams the brakes just before the last corner before bus stop (it is very easily a flat out corner, especially with the new physics). Of course, being surprised, I bump into him quite hard, which sends my car flying but barely impacts the Audi which just continues on track towards Bus-stop.
I wanted to record the incident, but could not figure out how to save an "Instant replay" and could not be bothered trying to finish the race just so I could save the replay and then record a video once I was back at my desk.
To me it shows:
FFB is seriously lacking when going over kerbs/grass/sand. In that case it was no big deal, but I also had situations where my wheels were slightly outside the track, the FFB gave me no information about it, but then I touched the brakes and spun badly.
Physics are not correct when going over kerbs/grass/sand (you can now cut the inside kerb on Raidillon at 250 kms/h and stay on track), or when hitting another car, you bounce brutally and they barely feel it.
It looks like the AI gets some cheat boost in straights, I had already noticed that issue in previous corners whre they slowed down excessively on entry, not looking that fast on exit, but then pulling away on the straight, but this time, since we were both flat out and I was faster at the start of the straight, it made the "cheat" more obvious.
Not related to that specific incident, but I was able to take most corners much faster than before, almost drifting through them with ease (it might be due to the great TC), but when losing the rear due to a mistake, the car felt impossible to save, likely because I am not used to the new physics and the FFB wasn't telling me anything useful.
Conclusion: I Just purchased a year of iRacing and will likely play that while waiting for Reiza to fix/rollback these issues.
Those that have WMR or other non meta headsets, are you also experiencing a huge frame drop with the 1.6 update?
I have a Reverb G2 and now get about 20-30 frames less now. Struggling to get over 62fps where I could easily get 90 with open-composite
I cant really bind moza gear on ams2 no matter what i do.
Before the new update it works like a charm but after updating it doesnt detect any movement from the wheel and pedals at all
When starting a new Stock Car Pro Series 2024 Championship (not a custom one), if I select a lower Race Scaling (I used 41%, which has the first race go from 30:00 to 15:00), it totally breaks the mandatory pit window, as it opens only near the end of the race, with only two laps to go.
This leads to me having to pit at the second to last lap (stopping before the mandatory pit window does not count), as well as some AI cars not using the pit window, getting disqualified and mostly stopped atfer the finish line, leading to a yellow flag in the last lap.
With race scaling, the pit window is supposed to open before that, and not use the same pit window as a full race. By the official Stock Car rules, the pit window officialy opens by laps 6 or 7, depending on the circuit, but on a 15 minute race, it leads to these problems described.
Another problem: The push-to-pass amount left should carry over from race 1 to race 2. You start with 44 (i'm not asking to simulate rookie/fan pushes or anything), if i use 10 on the first race, i'm supposed to have 34 p2p available, not have them replenished to 44 on the second race.
Also, at which level does AI start using their pushes? I'm at 90 and they don't seem to be using them at all, but i can't really tell, but i didn't get to check replays or anything.
The problem is that the game recognizes the padles and the wheel as the same axis, ive no idea how to fix it
Wheel: Moza R9 + KS Wheel
Padles: Fanatec CSL Elite V2
I'm trying to set up my wheel and pedels.
Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks
Hi, i bought the game a few months ago, yesterday when i updated the new version, i found in my game some cars and circuits from DLCS i have NOT bought, how is this posible?
Quest 3 72Hz (5408x2912)
RTX4090
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Resolution supersampling x1.2
Graphics setting - everything max except track details (High)
Supersampled AA (Ultra)
Grid size - max possible
No shadows flickering
Just went for a couple of races on Laguna Seca (P3 and GT3) on various AI difficulty and each time on lap 1 AI brakes miles early before turn 5. Never happened before patch.
I've tried several fps meters that tell me I'm constantly at 60, yet when I turn in the car it doesn't feel smooth like it's at 45 fps. Has anyone ever had this? Is it possible to correct this problem?
Hello! With the new Patch, the game looks much worse in VR mode. In the days before the update, I played with it a lot, in clear weather there were much nicer shadows and reflections. Antialiasing is much worse. It used to be possible to see perfectly which part of the car in front of me was being hit by a beam of sunlight, which is now a fused piece of shit.
My setup: 4090, i9 14900k, QUEST 3.
Everything maxed out, MSAA medium, Quest 3 full resolution, Super Sampling 1.4-1.5.
Is this problem just for me or does anyone else notice it? Sorry for the bad English, I used a translation.
First of all, I love the sim and the new update is incredible. The tire model is now so much fun! I own all content and drive many different series regularly.
Since the 1.6 update, as soon as i enable the 4th monitor the sim shrinks from triples to a single monitor.
Used the Display magician workaround for the last couple years (worked perfectly) but now it also does not work.
Any tips?
Thanks all!
Had my first ever LFM race yesterday at Daytona multi class. I opted out of qualifying to start at the back of the grid
The car in front of me spun out on the formation lap so a warning popped up saying give position back, so naturally I stopped at waited
The car that spun out decided to sit there and have a picnic on the grass for 30 seconds before deciding to exit out the race
I got over 30 seconds of penalties for not giving the position back AND a further 30 seconds of penalties as I was so far back from the pack it kept giving me penalties for being too slow
So a minute of penalties for doing absolutely nothing wrong
Hi everyone, I have triple screen and I would like a fourth monitor for Simhub, how does it work, and how would I best configure it? I have read that there are problems with a fourth monitor.
There are a lot of dlc's, but i dont know what to buy, any idea?
Disclaimer: I don't want to sound negative, but constructive.
All the updates in 1.6 are great, that's true. I'm driving in VR (Bigscreen beyond). My everyday simracing choice is iRacing. (But hold on, don't click on that downvote arrow yet!)
I'm trying to enjoy the new content, physics etc in newest update of AMS2, but I just CAN'T get the graphics settings right.
Yes, Madness engine is fast. Yes, the tracks and cars are detailed. Yes, there's a lot details around and I'm still getting almost constantly 90fps (or 75, depending on VR mode).
BUT - and this is a big BUT - the flickering shadows just ruin the whole experience.
When I've heard the change log mentioning updated graphics/shadows - I had so much hope they will fix it for VR.
As far as I know this is still Madness Engine flaw. It has been around from beginning.
Options I have:
* turn the shadows off completely, making the whole scene flat and cartoonish
* set the weather to minimize shadows (overcast wheather), but obviously this is no case is someone else sets the weather (in online racing)
* return to iRacing, when I've manage to get perfectly clear, stable and fluid visuals.
Again - I'm not trying to troll. I'm crying for HELP.
First time AMS2 player here, first thing I noticed when I opened the game is the scuffed Menus (too big and cut off at edges, everything is shifted to the right) and some image distortion in-game as well.
I use G9 57", native resolution (7680x2160) at 125% scaling, after some tinkering, I realized that scaling was the issue.
Instead of changing the global scaling:
Menus and everything else looks fine after applying that fix for me.
Been trying the new update this weekend with the new gt3s, lmp2, lmdh and alpine.
But clearly. This Oreca (what I’ve been playing) just stands out. It’s a great addition to the game. The physics feel similar to what other games implement with the car.
It just feel planted with the downforce and no hazard slides from nowhere (Looking at you gt3.) Great job Reiza.
Finally got my hands on 1.6 after being stuck away having to watch / read about it all. Its been my main sim for 500 hours aside from a passionate 4 month affair with iRacing and a bit of Raceroom lately.
Very, very happy with the update - it is still of course, AMS2 (a good thing IMO) but improved in almost every way.
I don't see it swaying the usual pessimists but it could potentially sway some fence sitters.
Zero issues - it just worked out of the box - all I did was uninstall my mods. New GUI is a nice chnage but not on the level of say LMU.
Sound wasn't immediately obvious but I do really like the new rumble strip / track surface sounds - the new cars all sound fantastic as well. I feel like the tyre sounds are more varied(??) but I still have these turned down to 30%.
It looks spectacular - I still use Nvidia Filters to tone down the vibrance and tweak curves. Still locked at 120 FPS with a full grid.
The new content is fantastic - tracks look incredible and loving the Sebring surface and Road Atlanta rumbe strips.
Feels better than ever, although that was more obvious with default+ than custom FFB which I definately still prefer - there is a bit more weight and more detail from the tyres on the surface but I keep FX on the lower side as things can get busy.
I personally never got the 'floaty thing', but I for sure got the 'tail happy thing' and thats much improved - partially due to the warm tyre grip and partially due to being less margin for overdriving meaning you must have better throttle modulation.
TC appears to work better and I'm getting less oversteer out of corners than before, despite not resorting to the old setup fudging and using lower TC.
The harder edge is nice (more akin to RRRE) as it keeps things a little more on a knife edge but its still relatively forgiving if you have quick hands.
GT3 / GT4 clearly improved, modern prototypes feel best (LMP2 / SC63!). Sadly I just couldn't gel with the M1 Pro Car which concerned me for older content but my old favourites, Group A / GT1 / Group C are all better than ever.
Even the slidiest of slidey boi's (2002) feels a bit weighter and more planted when not sliding about the Sudschleife.
Really looking forward to giving the AI a good test (my key interest and the additional parameters are most welcome) along with weather and testing more of the back catalogue.
After jumping back into AMS2 to check out the update I was surprised to see I have the content from DLC available even though I hadn’t purchased them.
Are they part of some season pass that I’ve already bought? Or free preview at the moment or am I missing something? Feel like I’m just being an idiot but I’m confused..
Is anyone else not able to input their triple monitor settings. Every time I change a value and go to input the next it just goes back to the default dimensions.
Hey everyone, Just got ams2 for the new update and loving it so far. Just a real quick question which might be trivial but I couldn’t find a “gt E” preset which includes the Porsche, Bwn and the Chevy in the preset selector but I am able to individually select them for custom races. Am I missing something obvious. Kindly help me. Thanks
Hello all.... AMS2 hadn't even been on my radar until the last couple days when I started seeing posts on here and youtube vids about the latest update. With the Steam sale going on I'm really considering buying it, but had questions about the DLC. What exactly is included in the season pass? Is Monza or Barcelona included in it? I've seen posts from earlier this year saying it is, but it's not listed in the Steam description. Or do I get the premium track DLC since I don't care about historical tracks and older cars? Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.
I took a long break from ams. After I saw all the hype about 1.6 I tried and oh my god is this good. Is this the result of the update or is it just me coming back after ages?
I moved to PC about 4 months ago. I've always read that it wasn't quite a sim, more on the simcade side. But everyone's going nuts with the latest few updates.
I'm mainly an ACC player, how does it hold up nowadays? Does the base game provide a good amount of content?
I was all excited to race with the new update but the stuttering is now really frequent for me. It shows my GPU is running at less that 70 percent and my CPU is less than 20 percent but the game is stuttering so much I can't even play it. Any tips?
Update: after updating my Nvidia driver, it seems to be okay.
Dammit, just had a great race in the LMP2 with GT3 Gen 2 at Road Atlanta. I go to view the replay and entire field is stationary on the back stretch, I'm the only car moving the entire race. Full field of 48.
