What tires do you guys run in the snow? I use my 4 wheeler to plow and need new rubber. And was looking to see what was the general idea of a good winter tire.

As described, when riding, it feels as though the back end wobbles and sways. Feeling as though the tires are loose and driving left to right rapidly. Locking the rear diff slightly dampens the feeling but doesn't stop it. It could also be described as though there are dried mud tracks it's following, when there are non present. May be imagining things but I feel like it's noticeable. Any ideas are well appreciated

i have a 2020 yamaha yfz 450 i was wondering if clutch basket is something i can do myself i am a little mechanically inclined but i haven’t done anything crazy im wondering how difficult is it to do

So not my talon but my friend just bought a 2020 talon 1000x for a great price with what the guy said was the idle air valve sensor. The issue is it will idle as long as you want it to but any time you give it any gas it stalls, sometimes he can drive it for a little bit before it does it. he changed the iav and is still having the same issue. Personally i think it’s a fuel pump or injector issue or something to do with the ecm but if anyone had this issue or a known remedy it would be much appreciated

I have a Honda trx450 that usually starts right up no problem, but the other day after a ride I parked it on the trailer and turned the gas off while it idled to clear the carb since I was gonna be off it for a couple weeks. Well i tried starting when I got home and now its having trouble starting. When I hit the electric start it sounds like it’s just on the cusp of starting but its not getting enough fuel, if I give it a little gas it’ll cycle faster but only got it started once, bogged out right after. Figure I wont do that with the gas again, but got any ideas on how to fix?

“Refurbished” model of sorts. My neighbor is a machinist by trade and pretty much an ace shade tree mechanic. He’s got tons of equipment that he has obtained for free or practically nothing that he has reconditioned for his own use and also to resell. He even has an old Bridgeport in his garage that he repaired and that he uses to make new parts for things on occasion. He happened upon a guy in our area who had essentially amassed his own personal Honda Rancher junkyard and was looking to cash out. He brought home three 5x12 trailer loads of partial quads, frames, engines, tires and wheels, body panels, etc…

Out of that massive pile of parts he built two quads for himself and his wife as well as three others. He made out pretty well on the two that he sold on Facebook so he gave me what I thought was a pretty good deal ($1800) on this one, especially considering he assembled pretty much the entire thing from parts, fixing minor stuff as he went, rebuilt the top end (it had been smoking) and made sure that literally everything down to the neutral/reverse indicator lights was functioning as it should.

I’ll have some fun with it but it will mostly be a utility vehicle for my 2 acre property. We live on a private lane about 1/4 mile off the road so it’s great for getting the mail and taking out the garbage but also for towing my log splitter and firewood cart and other implements. I have an old 35HP Kubota 4WD loader for heavier work so this is a nice smaller, more maneuverable addition.

So I’ve been trying to get my 2006 sportsman starting up after sitting around 5 years.it will crank but not start I’ve cleaned carb and replaced starter.recently it has made this super loud(like a gunshot) backfiring noise,any ideas what this could be and solution ?

History. Bought the bike used and basically clapped out. Rebuilt a ton of things to get it cookin and then this happens. Couldn’t find anything missing or loose inside, however the owner before me did far less than excellent work on it.

I just bought a new HMF Competition slip on exhaust but I keep hearing I need a fuel optimizer so I can tune it before even using it, a friend of mine says it should be ok with out the tuning but I need to know if it's necessary or not. can anyone answer this question?

Hey everybody, been working on 05 kfx 700. Felt like it was really struggling to start so I pulled the plugs (both pretty oily black but rear was extra oily) and did a compression check. Got 40psi on the front cylinder and 30psi in the rear. At first I was concerned with those numbers but upon reading some forums I found that these do have an auto decomp and it’s apparently normal to see only 30 to 60 psi. Decided I better check the valve clearance while I was in there. Intakes were stupid tight. Got everything adjusted properly and did another compression test. This time I got 50psi up front and 90psi in the rear cylinder… Feel like a rebuild is in the near future but the spike in compression doesn’t make any sense to me. If you guys have any experience with these or if I can get input on what someone else’s machine actually reads that would be awesome! I also ordered a leak down tester as well to narrow down what’s going on in the meantime. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a question, why would the choke just all of a sudden quit working? Road it 1 day choke worked like it always had, then the next time I tried to use it, ot will not move and my wheeler is 1 of the coldest natured thing I have ever had I need the choke to fire it up. Thanks in advance.

I was a sport quad and dirt bike guy to start with. First quad was a raptor 700 which I had for a few years before trying out the 4x4s. For various reasons my riding has gotten more confined to one or two spots. I don’t do any mudding or any work with my grizzly and I basically ride it like a sport quad and have it set up that way. I felt it was good for a while because I actually wasn’t skilled enough to fully utilize the raptor but now I feel like I’m always riding the grizz on the edge.

Dealer by me got 2 new Yfz450s in and I’m thinking of making the trade. The lack of reverse worries me a bit but I like the width, lightness, high revving motor like my old dirt bikes.

The nice thing with the 4x4 is I never worry about getting stuck anywhere and it’s easy to ride when I want it to be but it just feels like overkill.

Anyone gone back and regretted it? I considered the renegade but I think it’s too much money for how often I actually ride and it’s heavy.

So ik this is an atv sub but I thought it would be good to get a different povs, for my 16th birthday my father told me to chose one, I feel like the raptor's pros are range, stability, torque, and ability to easily carry a friend (im not that heavy at all) but idk if i can really hit jumps with it and it also scares me in tight turns because there is risk of rolling, a yz 250f has a smaller tank but some say its more fuel efficient, its more nimble and can hit real jumps, much easier to store, it also seems like it gives more adrenaline, but it cant carry a passenger as comfortably as a raptor and my father said its more risky. I'll generally be riding in beach since its close to our house, I want something for the long term that I wont get bored of, and that wont make me regret not getting the other option, its been stuck in my head, thanks

Got this bike for my little boy last week. Yesterday he turned it on its side (for like 3 seconds) Now i can't get it to start. Sounds like the solenoid is trying to start but the engine won't turn over at all. Checked it with a screwdriver and there's spark. I see no loose connections. Battery is full. Pulled the spark plug. Idk what to do. Anything would be appreciated

Is this a capable machine for plowing snow in a relatively large area? Also will be used for towing wood from time to time.

I’ve got a 1998 Honda Foreman 450 ES. For the entire time I’ve owned it, it has been stored inside a carport at my dad’s house. For the next few months, it will be on a trailer in my yard. I’m looking for a good cover that will fit it with the basket rack on the back. Most of the ones I’ve seen on Amazon are too short or not wide enough. I’m in Mississippi so no worry of snow. Any good ones out there?

Wondering the best place to start on this one? Appears to be leaking from the right side engine cover gasket (not one specific spot almost more like it's seeping out at the gasket) which is white/milky in color. And there's oil in the radiator when I took off the cap. Haven't had a chance to drain anything yet, but what should I plan on? Should I just start by tearing down to the head? Or just take the entire jug off? Or is there something I can test first before I tear everything apart?

What should I expect to pay for a new Honda atv relative to MSRP?

There are two dealers nearby, both have what I am looking for which is a Recon 250 and a Foreman Rubicon. Should I expect to pay msrp or less and if less how much is considered a good deal in the ATV world?

I’ve been trying locate my oil filter on a 1999 Kodiak Grizzly YFM400 without the service manual and I can’t for the life of me find it on the atv. I’ve got a hunch it’s behind a cover next to the foot clutch but that’s behind 14 bolts and possibly the foot clutch itself. I’ll post I picture of the black cover I’m referring to if anybody can help out with locating the oil filter, I’d be very grateful. Or if anybody can point me to where a service manual for the atv can be found, that ought to do it. Thanks !
