I wanted to keep a thinner string on the bottom for the twangier tone but also not have all the fret buzz and noise that comes with it, so I set my 7th string a bit higher and my 6th string a tiny bit higher than the rest so it still feels somewhat even. Is this a common thing to do? Share your experiences and results!
Hi everyone. I know this is like a weekly basis question popping up in this sub, but can anyone recommend me the suitable strings gauge? Mine is now 10-63 and the lowest string is floppy as hell.
My guitar is Jackson Dinky JS22-7.
I've found a listing for a 2003 Made in Korea Schecter Blackjack, but could get a brand new Schecter Demon 7 for the same price. I don't really like the fact that the Blackjack has a through-neck, it just makes me anxious about a potential breakage. On the other hand, the Demon 7 will probably require a proper setup.
And maybe there's a hidden third 7string option in this price range ($700 - $730) that's worth considering?
26.5" is a must, preferably a bolt-on neck.
Thoughts?
Recently I’ve really gotten into that djenty kind of music and played in f# a lot, and that’s the reason a bought such heavy strings. But then I realised that I like the standard tuning too but it was too late-I already bought the set xD. Do you think it’s gonna be too heavy for a standard beadgbe-aeadgbe tuning?
Still kinda weird getting used to this massive beast but the Floyd + the Dimarzio D activator are such a good combo.
Hi there!
I hope you don't mind me sharing this little solo playthrough of The Shadow In My Mind, by Beyond The Void (death metal, FR).
If you're curious about the full track, you can also check out the clip we released recently on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XKinB1Sx8dQ
Hope you'll like it (if you do, consider dropping a like or following us, it would really help us out 😊)
Thanks and have a great day everyone!
Bolt-on neck preferably, passive pickups. Will be mostly playing in A Standard, so 26.5" scale would be the best as well. All suggestions are welcome though, all help highly appreciated!
Hi everyone !
I'm currently thinking about getting a new 7 strings. Maybe in a few months.
I looked for various models, and I can't really choose between these three :
1 https://www.schecterguitars.com/Banshee-Mach-7-Evertune
2 https://www.solar-guitars.com/product/a1-7d-ltd-natural-aged-distressed/
3 https://www.solar-guitars.com/product/t1-7ad-aged-natural-matte-distressed/
Both are same scale lenght (26.5), perfect for playing modern metal. Schecter has better pickups maybe ?
One point tho : I really like the finish of the two Solar as you probably guessed.
What do you think/what would you do (and why?)
Thank you!
Guitar Center has the Demon-7 on sale for $399. This is for my 16 year old son. Ive taken him to play all the 7 strings I can find at local stores and he always likes the feel of Schechters. Since I dont want to risk another brand, I am stuck on these two. Which would be the better option for him? The used Damien Platinum is a few years old with no mods.
I was able to score a brand new one for about 546 USD. It arrives tomorrow
i recently made a post in here about SCT 607B but with a little bit of research i found E-II model and really cant decide. if it was the same price E-II would be a clear winner but i really have no idea because of the 400 euro difference but also i don't like the pickup placements on SCT 607B. what do you guys think i'm really in the middle. will use it for modern hardcore and shoegazecore stuff (Knocked Loose, Thornhill, Kublai Khan, Loathe etc.)
Gonna be restringing my 7 string after ages. Please suggest some some interesting riffs to learn. I am in the mood for some djent or some modern metalcore. A runny riff thats not all 0s and 1s is what I am after. Thanks🙏
Hello!
I’m rolling out the big guns for this music!
I imagined myself composing a METAL music for a video game!
I’m playing my excellent 7 strings guitar SCHECTER KM7 MK3!
I have a accoustic cheap guitar KASPAR 10C so the problem I am facing is once i hit the any string the sound of that string played for too long like bell(hmmmmmmmmmmmmm) at the end and the guitar not make any buzzing sound also. So please help me to identify the problem.
Hi would love to hear some feedback back on this track I’m working on. Pretty new to recording music so any tips is really appreciated :)
All of the frets are sharp with a rough lip. Is this normal? Is the neck supposed to feel like little bumps all over it? Did I get a lemon?
Here's the gallery of the neck pics: https://imgur.com/a/E1egWD6
How does it look to you? Fine? Something wrong?
It's a 2016 7 string Schecter C7 Deluxe, with some chinese locking tuners and upgraded pick ups – a Seymour Duncan SH-2n Jazz Humbucker in the neck and a custom Seymour Duncan extracted from a 90s Jackson. Seems nice and the seller only wants $490 (with a nice semi-hard gig bag, additional strings and the original pickups) for it, it has some luthier work done as well, so it's ready to play.
Worth it? All input is highly appreciated!
Hey guys. I know you probably get a lot of these posts of 6 string players finally buying their first 7 string. I’ve played on and off for 15 of so years and currently the guitars I love playing the most are my Ibanez az2402 and my Fender American professional ii strat.
I haved listened to more melodic use of low tunings for quite a while (Issues, Bilmuri, Spiritibox, Polaris, Eidola, etc.) and a lot of these bands have different ways of obtaining low tunings (pitch shifting, more strings, multi scale, baritone, etc.). I’ve always just been comfortable with just enjoying the music and didn’t feel compelled to write that low of tuned stuff as a lot of bands I loved still managed to put out heavy/cool stuff on six strings (Dance Gavin Dance, Movements, Citizen, Issues -again lol)
Enter Sleep Token. I know they are super popular right now and maybe are considered overhyped even, but they are the first band to make me want to try some lower stuff in my own projects. I know their guitarist used to use a baritone but has been playing 8 strings for a good bit now, but I believe a 7 string still makes the most sense for me.
Pictured above is a common entry level 7 string, on sale for a pretty good rate. I played a few 7 strings today but unfortunately couldn’t find one to try out. The ones I could try that I didn’t mind were a used legator pro antique brown, an Aaron Marshall am7, an Ibanez RGDMS8. These all are obviously at a very different price point, but the used legator did surprise me at $900 used. (I hear legators aren’t great though) I think I’m still leaning towards a schecter as I heat such great things about them, and I played a 6 string model once that blew me away for the price a couple of years ago. I like the neck profiles on these 3 guitars as well, although the 8 string obviously felt a little foreign
With all that said, I would to know whether this guitar is a great bang for the buck purchase and whether I will be happy with this for a while, or if there are recommendations (new and used) around $700 that you guys find are just amazing for the price. Also am open to any general advice!
