Need 7 string bands that dont sound technical . Or too fast paced . Bloody roots from sepultura is an example .
These songs use a lot of that open 7th string in between to just heavy the sound . I can't really explain it .
They also use a lot of that phrygian dominant scale to sound nastier .
I just don't like the technical stuff
TLDR: Non technical bands
Just changed strings from NYXL to standard D’Addario XL 10-74 8 string set with the 64 dropped. Now my low F# on the 74 has a weird over tone. Not sure what it is. Doesn’t sound bad but it is coming through on my recordings and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
Hey everyone! I've got a question about my Fishman Fluence Modern pickups. I know there's the older version that you can wire up for coil-tapping, and the newer version that has a third voice for a dedicated single-coil sound. I've got the older version in my seven-string. My question is, is there a huge difference between the coil-tapped sound on the old ones versus the single-coil voice on the new version? I really dig the sound of the Moderns, but I need some usable single-coil tones for my band. I'm not necessarily going for authentic vintage single-coil sounds, just something that works well. Before I go swapping out my old Moderns for the new ones, I'd love to know if it's even worth it. Is there a big difference, or am I better off just sticking with the coil-tap option I already have? So, what do you guys think? Any major differences in sound or output between the two options? Cheers!

sometimes getting mad is not that bad
Better guitar for under 1500USD? I’m open
Also a late NTMGD, Cerberus 7 Baritone with newly installed Bare knuckle aftermaths.
I might be getting a seven-string guitar in the next few days, but I noticed that some of my favorite songs can be played in Drop D tuning(for 6 string). However, I don't want to tune my seven-string guitar(Drop A) to Drop D. Would it be weird if I just played the Drop D chords on the seventh string(Drop A) instead?

There are several owners of this guitar on the sub, since it’s pretty popular. Will going thick to 0.70 or 0.74 on low B string require filing the nut there? I’m not sure if I can handle this and don’t have access to luthier
Full cover is up on YouTube!
All I currently have is a practice amp that doesn't handle my nice 7 string well. The price of a basic mac, interface, and neural dsp plugin is about the same as an hx stomp + pedal board or a helix lt. I play almost exclusively djent, and intend to only do bedroom playing and playing along to songs. If it makes a difference, I already having a tuning pedal and digitech drop.
I want to be able to record someday, but don't foresee having the time to learn within the next few years, hence I'm not sure if a computer is worth it.
If you were in this position, what would you do?
Hi, guys! Just got my first 7 string after 8 years of playing. Any suggestions for a song?
The RGD2127Z was a super popular 26.5"/27" scale guitar about a decade ago, but I’ve always hated that scale length. A lot of players who felt the same way about 27" eventually realized that 26.5" is the sweet spot—guys like Dave Davidson followed what the Periphery crew and Wes Hauch figured out.
But why are there so few options? There’s the Iron Label model, which is made in India or Korea or something, and then there’s the RGDR4327—an absolutely gorgeous guitar that I might actually buy. I just wish there were more Japanese-made Prestige 26.5" scale 7-strings. Periphery’s signature models don’t do it for me—most of them are just ugly, aside from a Bulb Jackson or two. The Merrow pro line MK3 looks pretty good, though.
An Evertune would be awesome, too. Most bedroom guitarists aren’t playing live often—they’re tuning, changing strings, and tone chasing in a DAW. In my experience, 26.5" is a perfect scale length for metal. Get with the program. Do you think Ibanez has any of these thoughts in the pipeline?
I know generally longer scale lengths are recommended for lower tunings, but I’m curious what kind of experiences people have had with super low tunings on this scale length. Do you find it usable? Why or why not? I know that the strings might be pretty flubby, but I play with really low action so I’m not concerned with it.
Is it worth it?
Found a great price and couldn't pass it up. Invader pickups
What are some common drop tunings used by metalcore and death metal guitarists who play 7-string guitars? I’m curious to know which tunings are popular in these genres as I love listening to them.
At the moment I have my 7 string in drop D with the thinnest string at F# because I can’t get it to E as I don’t have the right string at the moment for it being a E but didn’t know where to turn for help other then to ask all of you in this group.
id like to get a cheap 7 string to play around with, i dont rly want spend more than 250 nzd (about 150 usd) as i just want something to play around with. not my first guitar i have a gibson and a fender so im not new to guitars ! any advice would be apreciated, i would love smth with a floyd rose or floating bridge but i dont think i can get anything like that with my budget. please lmk if you guys can think of anything idm if its a bit more expensive that might suit my needs!!
Currently running EMG active pickups in my guitars and was shopping around for pickups. So for context i am playing in low tuning (drop G# and F#) and want some more clarity all around. I chug a lot but play lots of chords.
From what I’ve gathered the fishman modern, fishman Abasi signature set, and bare knuckle impulse pickups are my best options.
Asking for anyone’s personal experience with these pickups and the pros and cons they’ve ran into using them.
