For showing off, speculating about, pining over, pricing, buying, selling 45rpm records.
/r/vinyl is very LP focused, so I figured we'd have our own little corner. Feel free to show off a find.
Why collect 45s? Everybody has their own reasons, but generally there's a lot of stuff that never made it to an LP. It's where the real treasure hunting is: it's weirder, more obscure, often forgotten by history. You can often find great songs for cheap, and often those songs are worth much more.
45s are physically the same as what are often known as 7"s. However, there's an informal semantic difference: 45s are vintage (80s and older), 7"s are newer. We're focused on vintage stuff here. I won't be absolute about that, but generally I would shy away from new releases.
You're free to buy, sell and trade here. For now, these are the rules, we'll likely have to add more as we go:
*Buying and selling is entirely at your own risk. Moderators of this forum will NOT get involved in purchases.
*Do NOT make an offer unless the OP suggests that they are open to them.
Keep in mind: the more well-known the song, the more common the record, the less valuable it probably is. We're not going to have any rules about obscurity here, at least for now, but if you've heard it on a classic rock station, it's probably not of interest to us. That said, there's no harm in learning.

Wendy Rene - After Laughter on Stax (1965.) As a sample junkie I always loved this song but never ran across anyone selling an OG copy despite digging as my main pastime for about 10 years. Recently a friend found two copies in the wild and let me buy his copy (VG condition.)
I have an old box of disco era 45s but not much interest around the world, it seems.
Any hidden markets that love these old, little vinyls?
Never seen this before. The label is separated. Part of the label is actually on the dead wax. Does this make the record more valuable or desirable
Am excellent cover of this classic song. Was picked up in the Jazz Dance clubs and was a guaranteed floor filler. Fairly rare 45 pressing.
Excellent version of Ned Doheny's yacht classic. Japanese press.
Are people actually looking for this album?
Any good places that carry 45’s that aren’t overpriced in Raleigh/durham NC
Paid 40 bucks for a box of 45s, legendary pull
If you love 80s music and 45s I’m spinning hits and deep cuts Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun evenings. Find me on Twitch OnlyFuns80, requests taken (dm for song list).
So I take out 10 random sides when I feel like it from the shelf (drunk) and listen to one or both sides then write a review along with any kind of liner notes on the front of the sleeve. This is the first one tonight.

My 45 collection is organized by genre. I have spreadsheets for a bunch of them, like Philly Soul, Memphis soul, Motown, and many more. On occasion someone will want to buy a whole genre (usually Motown, which has about 204 different titles) but can never agree to a price.
I usually sell Motown records for a dollar each, so is that fair for the whole bunch? Should it be less because it’s bulk, or more considering the time and effort to curate them?
