Zorin OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution designed especially for newcomers to Linux. The distribution's ultimate goal is to provide a Linux alternative to Windows and let Windows users enjoy all the features of Linux without complications.
Zorin OS is a multi-functional operating system designed specifically for Windows users who want to have easy and smooth access to Linux. It is based on Ubuntu which is the most popular Linux operating system in the world.

I recently installed zorin os on my Hp probook 440 g2 which had windows 10 previously. I did not dual boot it, erased the disk and installed zorin.
When I restarted my system, I was stuck in a bootloop that just said "reset system". I figured out that the problem was that I could not get my laptop to load up grub by default. I had to go into the UEFI and select an option called "custom boot" and set the path to EFI/boot/shimx64.efi and it worked.
Now it does load up zorin by default, but only throught the custom boot option. There is no option that says grub in the boot priority. How do I get it to load grub by default? Also, tell me if I have to disable secure boot pls.
Hi all. I'm hoping someone has some insights or tips to offer me regarding this.
I recently bought an old 2013 Mac Pro "trashcan" model. I bought it specifically to put Linux on it and Zorin OS in particular. Here are the specs:
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1680 V2 @ 3Ghz
GPU: Dual D500
RAM: 32Gb DDR3 1866
SSD: 1Tb NVME
After unboxing and installing all available updates in Mac OS, I ran Geekbench to get a comparison for after I installed Zorin OS. Then I installed Zorin OS 17.2 and ran it. Here are the results:
MAC OS
---------------------
Single Core: 799
Multi Core: 4633
Zorin OS
---------------------
Single Core: 374
Multi Core: 3255
I was surprised that my CPU scores dropped so much after installing Zorin. I went ahead and tested Debian for good measure and the scores were a bit higher than Zorin, but nowhere near the MacOS scores. I'm at a loss what could be causing such a drop in performance. To be fair, in terms of usability, the computer performs great. No problems with running anything or having dozens of tabs open. It just is really nagging me that I'm losing such a large amount of performance. And at some point I will probably throw a gaming version of Linux on here and use it as a custom gaming console, so I'll really want all my performance back. Anyone have any experience with these old Macs or know why this could be happening?
Hey all,
I am trying to create an OEM image of Zorin OS, to install on old computers and donate them.
The issue I am facing is this, some of these do not support UEFI, thus when I try to deploy the image to that machine I get:
“Partition Table Invalid”
I do not wish to maintain 2 separate images one for UEFI and one for Legacy, I tried creating an unformatted partition and using the following command:
sudo grub-install --target=i386-pc --boot-directory=/mnt/boot /dev/sda
And other suggestions online, but everything I tried I get invalid partition table still.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I want to install Zorin OS in dual boot with Endeavour OS but during installation it fails to detect it (Endeavour is the only OS on the SSD btw). Any idea why this might happen?
Last week I installed Zorin OS in dual boot on an old laptop with a HDD with Xubuntu and it correctly detected Xubuntu and installed itself alongside it.
So I just installed zorin os and during the installation it said to connect to wifi I did it but after a few sec it went away during the installation window. Now I have installed the OS but when I go into settings and turn wifi on it won't show the name of my network Please help

Looking for help.
I'm thinking to swith to zorin from windows 11( as my pc is having some stability issues and windows 11 showed BSOD 2 times), I'm a windows users from a very long time(12 years) and it is my first time shifting to Linux, can anyone please help me how to setup and get thing ready after installation I will be using it for :-
I updated from 16.3 to 17.2 and found it incredibly laggy and slow without even doing anything after booting. Zorin 16.3 was very fast. I tried everything to make it better like:
1- a clean install
2 - xorg instead of wayland
I am now back to Zorin 16.3 and I hope this gets fixed soon because I need at least Ubuntu 22.04 and a lot of users experienced this. I think most users wanted Zorin 17 to just use Ubuntu 22.04 without the extra stuff that probably made it slower (maybe like wayland or smth). I will probably try another distro like Pop!_OS pr Mint but I really liked Zorin.
Last time I switched to zorin I couldn't install the drivers for my GPU and i couldn't play games with it, if I go to settings all options to use RTX Graphichs were disabled and only a text saying "drivers were installed manually", that means the drivers were installed or what? Because I had also problems with FPS in games too. Someone tell me what should I do, thanks
Hey,
So I'm looking to customize the appearance of my Zorin running GNOME 43.9 to get a look similar to KDE Plasmas transparent windows with a strong blur effect.
I tried using "Blur My Shell", but this only changed application launcher and ever so slightly changed the tone of my panel (however, only on my main monitor).
I've been tinkering with linux in my spare time for the last year, but have only daily driven it for about 3-4 months, so I'm still relatively new to the inner workings of the OS.
I'm not sure if the issue is that Zorin somehow overrides the changes applied by 'Blur My Shell'.
Has anyone achieved the result I'm looking for, or perhaps has some suggestions on how to achieve it? I would like to avoid any other visual changes such as icons, minimize/maximize/close buttons etc.
Thanks in advance!
So I have been running other Linux Distros for a while and looking to try this on a Lenvo X13 Ryzen AMD I have available to me and I have no doubt it will run and run nicely on it, just not sure it is worth (other than just the obvious of supporting the future development) for the PRO version. The apps all look like OpenSource apps I either run or are alternates to ones I do, and can easily be installed after the base install (possibly with my ansible scripts) and I have what PRO is providing. I see they are offering some nice looking overlays to make it look like Mac, Windows, etc but that again can probably be obtained mostly from the third party theme site.
It looks really nice and I have been putting RevOS on laptops for people who insist on Windows for a while because it slims it down so much and this looks like it would be a nice Linux Desktop and I am looking forward to trying it out regardless of the PRO or not, just curious if anyone has seen any fabulous upside to the PRO they just cannot live without.
Appreciate the insight.
Hey everyone Can anyone help me in this problem ASAP. I have a class to attend
Thank you
Hey Ho,
I usw Zorin on my ThinkPad E585 for several years. However, for no reason, the battery indicator stopped working a few days ago. Because it is an old battery, I have given my ThinkPad a new one. After a restart, I get a current status in percent, but the number no longer changes during use. As a result, the ThinkPad simply shuts down when the battery runs out. No battery management.
Is there a solution for this?
Hey everyone I reinstalled the os and when booting the wifi adapter doesn't get detected. What to do?
Thank you
This issue has happened to me two times. Should I reinstall the os again? If so, will all the data of this os get removed like the space taking in the drive?
I have faced an issue when I try to install zorin os on Lenovo thinkcentre edge 71. Used balena etcher to flash the USB drive. After installing zorin os it's not running and shows an error " operating system not found". So how do I overcome this issue?
If so, how is it like? Is there additional steps I need to take regarding of which? If it's not the best choice for an AMD gaming laptop, what others like this works better?
Hey people of Reddit, Today I tried running my Desktop PC with a Nvidia Graphics card. To do that I installed the driver from Nvidia and everything looked fine. Thing is, I didn't liked it so I decided to switch back to my old setup and just installed the original Zorin OS Graphics driver because I didn't need the one from Nvidia anymore. Problem is, after I restarted my PC everything scaled was very high scaled and all the audio settings are gone. I really want my PC back how it was before I tried Nvidia but there's no option of reinstalling the graphics driver or anything like that in the "software & update" window. Also all the devices in the audio settings are gone, there's just a "Dummy Output" device shown but it doesn't do anything. Could anyone please help because I can't work with this, I will just switch to my Laptop but I really want my Desktop PC to work.
I had some desktop experience with Ubuntu linux in the past. recently I got a 8th generation core i5 with 8Gb RAM and decided to try Zorin.
I remember Ubuntu being really snapy on older computers, and I imagined Zorin would be the same. But it is not. It feels reaaaaally slow to open apps, freezes when using Firefoz with less tha 10 tabs opened. It behaves very different from what I remember being the Ubuntu experience.
How can I check if there's something wrong with the hardware? I am not an experienced linux user, I used Ubuntu mainly for browsing the web and downloading stuff.
Hey everyone,
I’ve run into a major issue and could really use some guidance. While setting up a dual boot with Zorin OS, I mistakenly converted a 400GB NTFS partition (my main Windows C: drive) to Ext4 instead of setting aside just 40GB for Linux. Now, Windows won’t boot, and I’ve lost access to my data on the C: drive, which is now an Ext4 partition. I also have a 40GB unallocated partition.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
DMDE: I was able to view my data with this tool, but it crashes repeatedly before I can recover anything.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard: Unfortunately, it didn’t detect any files on the Ext4 partition.
I’m considering booting from a Linux Live USB to see if any recovery tools work better in a Linux environment, but I’d really appreciate any advice on tools, recovery strategies, or ways to restore this partition back to NTFS without losing my data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if someone has been through a similar situation or can share advice on how to recover the data safely. Thanks so much!
I've done my fair share of Distro hopping, on both Arch and Debian based Distros, and all of them have things to love and to hate. I believe all Linux is equal. And then there's a Discord Channel called Discord Linux, and I think they're the reasons Linux isn't as popular as it should be. They don't support anything that isn't Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian and other Distros that they believe are "Original".
I really wish they didn't use the name "Linux Discord", because people, especially beginners in urgent need of help, get trapped in this place, and end up discouraged, instead
If you're a beginner, I strongly advise against that place. In fact, having spent my time in that channel, I can assure you, there's nothing much of value they can add to you, that you won't find elsewhere. I usually don't vent much, but this reached my throat and I had to vent, somehow.
Anyway, check out the "rules"
