I might have thought too much about this unlikely scenario. What if Perfect Strangers is part of a full album of covers? Here’s my dream track list!
Man on the silver mountain (Rainbow)
Spiritual Healing (Death)
2112 (Rush)
The Nile Song (Pink Floyd)
Master of the Universe (Hawkwind)
For Whom The Bell Tolls (Metallica)
Rise Above (Black Flag)
Metal Guru (T-Rex)
Spirit Caravan (Black Sabbath)
Set list from Yob’s set at Stumpfest X in Portland, Oregon (4/12/24):
Prepare the Ground, Atma, Upon the Sight of the Other Shore, Pain of I, Marrow, Nothing to Win.
Pain of I was really amazing to hear live.
Also, Mike said “We are actively working in new material, and will be recording this year.”
🤘🤘
Thought this might be an interesting discussion while we wait for (hopefully) a new album this year. What do you guys think (or hope) the next album will sound like?
I've noticed their discography has phases, everything up to The Unreal Never Lived has an aggressive, but still stoner-esque sound, but with The Great Cessation and Atma they returned with a much darker sound, death metal influenced riffing, gutteral vocals, and stoner elements were basically removed entirely.
Clearing the Path...could almost be a transitional album, the first two tracks are reminiscent of TGC and Atma, dark and heavy, but the final two tracks (especially Marrow) represent something a bit more melodic, melancholic but hopeful.
So do we think Our Raw Heart represents the beginning of a new era, melodic, psychedelic, almost ballad-esque songwriting? Or was it the natural conclusion to the 'middle era' of YOB, and the next record will delve into new sonic territory?
Got a new tattoo today. The tree is the sound wave from Beauty in Falling Leaves. With watercolor leaves added.
Anyone else’s copy of clearing the path to ascend make a scratchy sound when it goes over the change in color spots? I’m new to vinyl. Thanks, yob is love
This album is unbelievably transcendental metal. What others can you suggest?
Decided last minute to record the show. It was so fucking loud the audio kept glitching out. Didn’t make arrangements to set up my audio recorder. So I have 4k anamorphic footage of the entire night, but the audio makes it almost unwatchable. If anyone has anything I might be able to salvage it.

I flew into Eugene just to see Yob. Saw them last night at WOW but don't have a ticket for tonight at John Henry's. Hit me up if you have one.
Haven't really listened to any live performance with French as a drummer, and I don't really know anything about the guy. Are the fans happy with him in the drums?
A couple of months after finding out YOB, I've finally catched up with their material, and can say YOB has become one of my favorite bands ever. However, I'm not really up to date with news and updates. Have there been any news about new material coming out or a new album being recorded?
No news- just love.
The first track I ever heard was Clear Seeing, some dude made me a mix along with some Raging Slab, WE, Mastodon and 35007. Yob was so unique and stood out from all the groove/stoner metal at the time..... I was so excited to finally see Middian live. Dreamless Eye @ 5:24..... You know what im talking about! Thinking Yob was forever done, I totally cherished that show. (And still do) I so appreciate the longevity of this music. I'm getting more familiar with the newer albums after a renewed love for Yob. Illusion of Motion and The Unreal Never Lived are stamped into my heart.. I just love this band, man. No one touches this kind of doom - and the depths of these emotions like Yob and I'm so grateful for this band. Just reading through this sub, about the dude who lost his pops reminiscing about the time they saw Yob together, literally got me teary eyed. Yob is love, that's all.
Hello People of Yob!
Hey I’m considering coming up to Eugene for the Dec shows.
I’m an IPA loving, vinyl buying, food loving (no diet restrictions!!) adventure dude. If I could find more Prepare The Grounds coffee that’s a plus.
I can use the internet to find best of but wanted to see your thoughts.
What are your suggestions to have an awesome visit outside of a double dose of Yob!
Posted this on Yob FB too. No idea which is more active.
This spell from the old game book is a pretty obscure reference but I wonder if summoning a gigantic humanoid form to crush your opponents and smash the world around you was any influence on the name of the band

A truly awesome collection of pedals to get that yob tone 🤟
I have the black vinyl relapse pressing and it sounds very poor, is there a good quality pressing out there? I know it's not my setup because the atma deluxe sounds great.
Assuming it hasn't been mentioned here before, Mike seems to have swapped out the Nomad guitar for a Dunable Gnarwhal for this tour - link below. The Nomad might be more iconic to YOB, but I'm really digging the look and sound of the Gnarwhal. Would love to try one out. It seems the builder is local to me in Los Angeles. I better start saving! My wallet is going to hate me.

Edit: dropped the 'e' from the guitar name, but can't change the title.
