Mods provide events to keep the game moving, or as results of questionable and momentous actions.

If you enjoy rules light, highly active political RP that eventually sheds the conventions of our world in favor of a new one created by the players, claim away - you could end up leading a communist hyperpower Brazil on a global crusade, quash the latest pan-arab superstate that conflicts with your regional interests, or reform Japan into a fully-fledged corporatocracy. [MODPOST] Treatises Two, On WorldPowers: Interest Gauged, Condensed Campaigns, and Goodbye the Years Long Season

#Treatises Two, On WorldPowers: Interest Gauged, Condensed Campaigns, and Goodbye the Years Long Season

#DO NOT PANIC - THE CARETAKER REMAINS.

#WP WILL BE A GACHA IN 6 YEARS.

I'm not sure how fast these will be produced moving forward, but ideally we'd wish to start a season sometime by June or late May - the Mind of an Addict is fraught with peril, you guys are in a bad way.

On Goals

Xpowers at large simply doesn't draw in the people like it used to, there are a multitude of theories as to why this is, but broadly its something that has to be accepted moving forward into the next age of WorldPowers at large. Therefore, this will serve as an interest gauge for the new form of WorldPowers which I am proposing, given the broader lack of interest currently in the (in my opinion, better) canon system. Those specifically given interest to the last, will be tagged. Otherwise an @everyone will go out to gauge things.

The Condensed Campaign

As part of our view on completely altering or otherwise changing gameplay in a way that is suitable, we have come up with a theorized gameplay of "Condensed Campaigns". There is no assurance that this works, however, aligning with previously highlighted issues with the long (multi-year) form season including things just dying out because lack of things to do, and always looking to the next thing - we believe this might resolve some of those.

  • Basic Premise
  • Season Length: Max length 3.5 months IRL or 10 years in game
  • Campaign Aspect: Set in S10, likely picking up where we left off, but with a specific "story-mode" campaign, several unclaimable states, a mod-run (Think GM) set of NPC nations, and a small yet very diverse list of claims to pick from.
  • Campaign Player Count: We no longer have the ability to aim for a 40 player+ new season. Its simply not feasible. This season would be shorter, and more intimate with a max player total of around 16 MAX total claimed states (unless interest shows we need more).
  • Goal: Players would be working towards an expressed goal (Ie. Claim motivations would be somewhat outlined ahead of season start) and you would be claiming a "claim as a character" as much as a claim where you are free-form.
  • Inspirations: These "Campaigns" are not inherently the canon direction of the season it follows, but, could be.
  • Progression: If successful, the completion of Campaign One would lead into Campaign Two which would run at a later date - building off of everything done in the first Campaign and etcetera.

Non-Spoiler Campaign One "Teaser"

The basic premise being worked on for a first campaign, would pick off right where S10 left off - in a strange uni-polar yet multi-polar geopolitical situation. The nations available to claim would be smaller claims, or those claims which had previously been [EXPANSION] or [CONFLICT] conquered. These claims would each have unique functions and attributes in addition to everything that had previously existed in S10. Some players with a proven track record, likewise, would take on the role of certain Imperial Powers but not directly - a'la, "Loyalist Alfheim in France" or "Japanese Philippines" etcetera - able to pursue the Imperial ambitions as adjacent (less power) to that of the NPC/GM run big empires.

#"Campaign One: Ashes of Rebellion"

Interest and Moderators

If your interested, please let me know so I can gauge if this is actually going to be run. If interest isn't there, we're going to be entering into a very big overhaul process moving towards a strictly worldbuilding focused subreddit.

Additionally, if you'd be interested in assisting as a moderator - I am looking to possibly take on an assistant. You'd need to be fairly confident in your ability to be actively helping otherwise this would just be run solo as is historical.

[MODPOST] Treatises One, On WorldPowers: Monetization, New Players, and Season System

#Treatises One, On WorldPowers: Monetization, New Players, and Season System

#DO NOT PANIC - THE CARETAKER REMAINS.

#WP WILL BE A GACHA IN 6 YEARS.

I promised another update and now you receive - it is curious to watch the mind of an addict, in this case, some of you are coping better than others.

The Treatises

These will serve as theory-crafting and interest gauging, the goal herein being to determine the direction of the subreddit, whether a revival is in the cards, and or a total transformation.

On Monetization

One of the primary issues with WorldPowers and the historical Xpowers format, has been without exception the time-requirement on the side of the moderators. Operating NPCs, running [BATTLES], and generally keeping things going smoothly trends towards a high time investment with very little payoff (because most of you rats quit anyway). Even generally keeping the sub operating on a 2 week turnaround, usually has the mod team fairly busy, not to mention the level of work it takes to be churning battles out in under 24-48 hours of the cut-off. Add in 30min NPC response times, and you have yourself a never-ending cycle of constant time investment. The payoff for both the mod team and player-base, is of course the usual high quality gameplay that you are most familiar with running between Seasons 8-10, but in particular, season 10.

This has led to a series of options, to address what is an impossible level of time investment to lack of actual player investment over the long haul.

  • Option 1: GACHA BABY WE'RE DOING IT FINALLY
  • In essence, each player would have a set amount of "Based Buxs" (Name subject to Change), set at a total of 200. Each post (regardless of flair), comment, NPC request, and [BATTLE] would cost "Based Buxs" to submit. The rates would be as follows,
  • [RECLAIM] posts = 50 Based Buxs
  • Post = 25 Based Buxs
  • Comment = 5 Based Buxs (CAVEAT, comments no longer can include dice-roll required actions = would need a new post)
  • NPC Requests = 25 Based Buxs added onto the cost of the post
  • [BATTLE] requests via a [CONFLICT] post = 100 Based Buxs
  • Each player at the start of the season, would begin with a total of 200 Based Buxs. Refresh rates work as such,
  • Each Day at 12AM UTC = Refresh of 10 Based Buxs
  • Each Sunday at 12AM UTC = Bonus of 10 Based Buxs
  • Via a WorldPowers Patreon (it does exist), players would be able to PURCHASE additional Based Buxs at any time, including going over the 200 cap, rates as follows (in USD).
  • 100x Based Buxs = $2.99USD
  • 250x Based Buxs = $5.99USD
  • 580x Based Buxs = $11.99USD
  • 1120x Based Buxs = $24.99USD
  • 5550x Based Buxs = $45USD
  • 11000x Based Buxs = $100USD
  • PRICES NOT FINAL SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Another option involves,

  • Option 2: Monthly Content Pass
  • In order to create investment on the player-side, each player would be required (as part of participation) to pay a monthly fee, likely around $14.99USD for a regular season, or $30USD for a condensed season as part of participation. This would provide unlimited posting, rapid response times, and etcetera.

As we look at ways we can make WP longterm viable, some form of monetization likely through Discord seems not impossible.

New Players

With regards to New Players, any turn towards the above mentioned gameplay would see us begin paying for largescale youtube and google advertisement, likely, I would also be looking into ways that we could turn this into an actual Game-Format. Our general investment in player retention is honestly not looking towards retention at all.

Season System

As a brief aside, let us know if you'd be interested in a condensed season that runs for approximately 3-4 months total, start to finish. This would likely have a more narrative story behind the season itself, and would involve all the great things about WP's S10 that you all loved - but in a system self contained to have a start and end.

I am about, 50% serious on the first point.

[MODPOST] Seasonal Greetings and a Yearly Review

#Seasonal Greetings and a Yearly Review

#DO NOT PANIC - THE CARETAKER REMAINS.

#WP WILL BE A GACHA IN 7 YEARS.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years, this is your yearly update on the subreddit - sans the ranting and ravings of increasingly desperate xpowers addicts.

Regarding the Canon System or Season C12

The trial season of an adjusted canon system as explained here is being officially ended. It goes without saying, that the attempt at yet another format still built on the foundation of a "set season" failed.

Overall we feel comfortable considering the old format of xpowers to be closed at S10 - ten seasons of varying yet broadly good gameplay.

The Future?

To dispel any rumors or ongoing allegations that /r/Worldpowers is considering a "Season 13" - I can safely say that no such thing is being planned. It is the belief that as of this point - there is neither the interest or the player-base to launch a new season and I believe many are quite satisfied with Season 10 being the capstone of our longstanding community. For its shortcomings, considering the amount of raw effort that all put into the Season - you won't find a better sendoff in the current state of xpowers at large. Further, both GP and Geosim have both suffered the same lack of activity/playerbase in an environment where there should have been ample players coming from other xpowers subs (us).

This is not to say that our subreddit is completely over - on the contrary, over the next while (think GP level timelines) we will be shifting towards a true-to-theory format built around an open-worldbuilding subreddit centered on our existing WP interests/themes. More regarding that will be made public knowledge as time permits - but I think we can all agree that nobody got time to play a season nowadays. Especially when half our playerbase (Americans) are about to be drafted for the upcoming Taiwan-China war or have already locked in their claims military postings (tion).

One Last Rodeo?

There have been some requests, questions, and queries for another possible season - a proverbial "season 12" following in the footsteps of our flagship Season 10. These requests have been somewhat heightened since some have found out the future of our subreddit in the current moment - leaning towards ending the xpowers-style of gameplay we have been built around.

With regards to that - if there seems to be a viable amount of need/desire to actually have a more standard season, it will still be considered. As of right now however, there is the interest but not the drive to play - as was evident by the end of S10.

Next Update

You'll get another update in a while.

[CLAIM] when the cult becomes a religion…

**September 9, 2023 - somewhere in the middle of Amazonia**

*In a wet basement, illuminated by candles… Various members of the cult of Shiarlatom enter the room from the shadows…*

“Yes, our great emperor, the plan is finished and ready. The population is totally indoctrinated, and we are ready.”

“Indeed, you shall do it, you shall proclaim the great Siopingja, and take control of the population, so that we may rise in power. General, get the milicia ready, high priest, send your inquisitors, economist, get ready to claim production and develop, and diplomat… Um… Make sure Brazil don’t try to invade us…”

“Yes my lord” Exclaims all of the high command

“Today, ladies and gentleman, is the day the cult is not anymore a cult, but the religion controlling the creat Siopingja! Now go to your doings.”

*Everyone goes away and only the great leader is there, sitting around the round table. He grabs a bottle of wine, while his spouse approaches. They commemorate the great victory over the already established powers, and then go to sleep. Luckily i managed to go away, but i am scared for my family. If i am lucky i will take them and run as fast as possible to somewhere else, it can be anywhere. End of recording*

[STORY] (Covert OP) Making Contact with the Old Guard

February 2033

Background

The ULSR Intelligence has noticed the Arab Federation's current objectives in Iran. Having effectively created a government in exile and painting the only viable opposition to Iranian occupation in Iraq as a monarchy backed by the Federation, they seek to monopolize the independence movement. The ULSR, while cordial with the Arab Federation, wishes to pursue its own objectives in turn. As such, it shall attempt to establish its own network within Iraq to potentially challenge the government in exile should independence be secured.

The ULSR has identified two main groups that would form the core of the opposition to the Islamic Republic; disenfranchised Sunni Arabs, and Kurds that have traditionally looked for independence. To a smaller degree, the communist party which is not very influential must also receive large amounts of support so that it may expand its operations domestically

Operation Rashwa

Sunni Triangle

Targeting former Baath party officials and their networks, the ULSR will begin operations in the predominately Sunni regions of Al-Anbar and Salah al Din in what is known as the Sunni Triangle. Seeking out former officials as well as known associates of former officials obtained from Mossad files, the ULSR will wire them large amounts of funds to become informants for the Levantine People's Intelligence Service, being promised power should the nation gain independence. Their objective would be to strengthen their hold on power regionally and gain influence among local tribes as well as in the media. Since a delicate balance of tribes holds the nation together and prevents civil war, such large "donations" may tip the scale sufficiently enough in our favor. Moreover, by targeting this specific demographic with rose tinted glasses regarding Baathism, they may be more amenable to socialist thought and practice should the day come.

(m)

Operation Success: (>40), Secrecy d20 (>8)

Modifiers:

  • Old guard may be long gone [-10]

  • Islamic republic may be monitoring these danger zones [-20]

  • Shiite Persian Islamic Republic ruling over Sunni Arabs [+10]

Roll: [1d100-20]

Kurdistan and the ICP

Taking old Mossad files, contact will be reestablished with groups in Iraqi Kurdistan that may be against the established leadership. Most notably, the LPIS will focus on empowering the Worker-communist Party of Kurdistan, providing them with contacts and bribing the right officials to increase their support. Similarly, the LPIS will begin funnelling money into the Iraqi Communist Party, having it expand social welfare operations by opening soup kitchens, providing clothes and shoes to the poor, and books to poor schoolchildren. It shall also use these funds to improve its marketing and reach a broader audience in Iraq.

(m)

Operation Success: (>40), Secrecy d20 (>8) Modifiers:

  • Communism is unpopular currently [-40]

  • The groups susceptible to the ICP and WCPK would presumably be anti-sectarian and anti-theocratic [+10]

[TECH] Fully Automated Home Construction

September 2032

In a time when the demand for affordable housing is skyrocketing internationally, the Union of Levantine Socialist Republics (ULSR) is taking a new approach to address this pressing issue by introducing self-building buildings at a fraction of the cost and within weeks. This innovative solution leverages advanced robotics, new materials, and artificial intelligence (AI) to autonomously construct buildings, presenting a game-changing solution for the development of social housing across the nation. The investment associated with building facilities and infrastructure to gain these capabilities is estimated at about $3B, with an additional $40B fund being spent on housing projects across the nation, largely high density mixed use commercial-residential developments.

The ULSR, in collaboration with several universities and the state-owned firm, The Bureau of Research in Artificial Intelligence (BRAI), is developing a system that utilizes autonomous robots equipped with AI algorithms and sensors to interpret building plans, coordinate with one another, and assemble building components with precision and efficiency. These robots are designed to perform specific tasks such as lifting, positioning, and securing components, and can adapt to changes in the environment or project specifications in real-time. The HEROS project has already developed most of the technologies associated with this project, this simply brings them all together into one joint fully automated framework. This would include automated logistics systems and a fleet of vehicles that would bring materials from government owned automated steel and concrete facilities as well as semi-automated private sector facilities. Wherever possible, pre-fabrication will be used in government-owned super-factories scattered across the country.

The use of autonomous robots and pre-fabricated components significantly reduces construction time, enabling the rapid development of large-scale housing projects. This also reduced cost by automating the construction process, reducing labor costs and minimizing the risk of errors and defects. The precision and accuracy of the robots ensure that the building components are assembled correctly and to the highest standards.

In addition to robotics, the initiative incorporates innovative materials like self-healing concrete and aerogel insulation, which contribute to the longevity and energy efficiency of the buildings while facilitating the assembly process. The use of advanced materials and integrated systems results in buildings with a smaller environmental footprint. Integrated systems for electricity, plumbing, and ventilation are also assembled and installed by the robots, ensuring that all essential services are in place from the moment the building is completed. To avoid making the mistakes of the past with brutalist architecture, the modular nature of the building components and the adaptability of the robots allow for a high degree of customization.

The largest limiting factor in the construction of these buildings will likely be waiting for concrete to cure, delivery times, noise restrictions, as well as human inspection of work quality. As such, a 20 storey building may be built in a few weeks to a year depending on whether it is in an urban location or not and the amount of concrete needed to cure.

The ULSR wishes to provide cheap government housing to every citizen by 2038. All units will be equipped with a robotic HEROS unit that would deal with maintenance and cleaning tasks, as well as a security unit in common areas that would alert authorities if there are any problems. Priority would go to the poorest members of society as well as new developments within the now rebuilt abandoned Palestinian villages. This would allow for quick access to most urban cores. Following the Singaporean model, assigned rental housing would ensure that there is a mix of faiths, ethnicities, and incomes within each rental housing building to promote social harmony. Naturally this would reflect existing regional disparities as to avoid placing a disproportionately high quota of Jewish people in largely Muslim regions, or Muslims in largely Christian regions, leaving the majority of the local population unserviced or forced to move.

[DIPLOMACY] Expansion: $9b Socotra-Comoros Oil & Gas Pipeline

Over the course of the next year, the Arabian Federation will focus on a comprehensive development plan for the newly integrated Comoros. The plan prioritize key areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic growth. Healthcare initiatives will involve establishing medical facilities and ensuring access to quality healthcare services for all citizens for free. Infrastructure projects will include upgrading transportation networks, improving ports, and enhancing access to reliable energy sources. Most notably, a 3,000km 44in oil & gas pipeline costing nine billion USD will start construction next year after the engineering and design phases have been completed. The West Indian Ocean Pipeline (WIOP) Joint Venture, owned primarily by a bunch of Peninsular and Islander business tycoons has been awarded the contract by EDGY (Energy Development Group Yemen) Inc by single source to finance, construct, operate and maintain the pipeline.

Education is a cornerstone of the plan, with efforts to enhance schools that are able to cater in French, English, and Arabic, provide teacher training according to existing standards, and expand access to education for all. This will lay the foundation for a skilled workforce and future development. Economic growth strategies will encompass investment in sectors like tourism, agriculture, and fisheries, aiming to harness the unique resources and beauty of the Comoros.

To ensure a seamless transition into the Arabian Federation, cultural preservation and social integration programs will be implemented. These initiatives will promote a sense of unity while respecting the diverse identities within the Comoros. As the one-year mark approaches, progress will be closely monitored, and adjustments will be made to ensure that the Sultanate of Comoros is on track for a successful integration into the Arabian Federation.

[STORY] Intel on Iran

Intelligence Gathering Report - Iran

Twentieth of April 2036

1. Military Strength: Iran maintains a significant conventional military force, including ground troops, armored vehicles, and artillery. Their missile systems possess varying ranges and capabilities, with some having the potential to reach neighboring countries within the Arab Federation. The Iranian Navy is equipped with both surface vessels and submarines, allowing them to exert control over key maritime routes.

2. Intentions and Objectives: Iran's intentions clearly indicates aspirations for regional dominance as the occupation of Iraq raises concerns about potential expansionist tendencies. Having lost Yemen, Lebanon and Syria to its' adversaries over the last decade, their focus has remained on annexing Iraq.

3. Capabilities: Iran's nuclear program remains a topic of international concern. While they claim it's for peaceful purposes, there are suspicions of a potential covert weapons program. Their cyber capabilities have been demonstrated through attacks on critical infrastructure and surveillance efforts, revealing a significant cyber warfare capacity.

4. Iraq Occupation: The occupation of Iraq by Iran has bolstered their military presence and allowed for control over strategic locations. However, resistance from local populations and sporadic insurgent activities funded by Arabia hinder their complete control over the region. The population's sentiments are mixed, with some welcoming the occupation due to sectarian ties, while most of the others resist.

5. Regional Dynamics: Iran maintains strong alliances with countries like Russia and China, providing diplomatic support and access to advanced weaponry.

6. Political Landscape: The internal political stability of Iran appears stable, although there are underlying tensions between conservative and reformist factions. The Supreme Leader holds significant power, influencing key decisions. The military plays a crucial role in both politics and defense strategy.

7. Information Sources: Open source information provides insights into Iran's military exercises, economic challenges, and diplomatic efforts. Human intelligence from contacts within Iran and neighboring countries contributes nuanced perspectives, although reliability varies. [CLAIM] The Return

September 8, 2023 - London

"This is London, there now follows a message from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, marking the one year anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth The Second..."

The screen briefly fades to black, before shifting to an image of Kensington Palace with the words "H.R.H. The Prince of Wales" imposed over. The image fades onto William, Prince of Wales sat at a desk in a drawing room in the palace. A photo of the late Queen with William at his graduation from St. Andrews College sits on the desk.

"When my grandmother made her pledge to the nation and the Commonwealth on her 21st birthday in Cape Town, no one could have foreseen just how committed she would be to that pledge. Indeed when she said that her entire life would be devoted to our service, it was a sacred vow which guided her life, it was the golden thread which tied everything together. As we reflect on our first year without her, I recall not just that service, but all of the moments where as a grandmother she was present in my life, and eventually in the lives of my children. I am well aware how keenly that same level of presence was felt in your lives as well, be it in her Christmas broadcasts which were appointment viewing, her visits to towns across Britain and the Commonwealth, or any of the other ways my grandmother touched the lives of people here and afield. Her loss is deeply felt, and will continue to be, she was a rock on which this nation stood for so long. But as she would most certainly wish for me to do, today on this day I as Prince of Wales wish to commit myself in the same way she did on that day in 1947. I declare myself, that I shall be in complete and total service to the peoples of this land and of our great Commonwealth of Nations, for however long God sees fit to grant me. As sorrowful as today is, I know my grandmother would not wish for us to dwell, she loved life, and she would want us to in her memory continue on and build up this nation and Commonwealth that she dedicated her life to. In her memory I invite you to join me in doing so."

The screen fades away onto a brief montage of key moments in the late Queens life, before returning to the BBC 1 Ident

[STORY] Bye Bye Babylon

Iraqi and Ahwazi Exiled Governments Offer Arab Federation National Citizenship Applications

Riyadh, August 31, 2031

The governments in exile of Iraq and Ahwaz, based in Riyadh, have announced the commencement of applications for Arab Federation National Citizenship. This move is aimed at consolidating Arab unity in the Persian-occupied territories, offering a pathway to citizenship for Arabs residing in Iraq and the coastal regions of Iran. The application process will involve a comprehensive five-step security screening process, with successful applicants being granted official travel documents and citizenship upon completion.

Security Screening Steps:

  1. Language Proficiency Check: Applicants must prove their proficiency in the Arabic language, which is a cornerstone of the Arab Federation's identity and unity.

  2. Tribal Endorsement: As part of the second step, applicants are required to obtain a letter of endorsement from the respective Sheikh of their tribe. This endorsement not only confirms their tribal affiliation but also reflects lineage.

  3. National Security Screening: The third step involves a rigorous national security screening process. This includes background checks, criminal record verification, and assessment of any potential security risks. The goal is to ensure that the applicants have no history of criminal activity or connections to extremist groups. For those that do not meet this criteria, a panel shall be selected to analyze rejected applicants on a case by case study to determine wether mitigating circumstances could possibly justify waiving off some of the set criteria.

  4. Political Security Assessment: The fourth step pertains to political security. Applicants will undergo scrutiny to determine their political affiliations and any history of involvement in activities that could pose a threat to the stability and security of the Arab Federation.

  5. Ministry of Internal Affairs Evaluation: The final step encompasses an evaluation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on all attested documents. This step focuses on confirming the applicant's intent to contribute positively to the Arab Federation's society and economy.

With an estimated 40 million eligible individuals, the Arab Federation National Citizenship initiative shall be carried out within a 5 year program, and has the potential to significantly reshape the demographics of the region. The governments in exile have expressed their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the application process while ensuring the security and prosperity of the Arab Federation.

Applicants who successfully navigate these security checks will be granted official travel documents and Arab Federation National Citizenship, solidifying their status as full-fledged citizens of the Federation. While this initiative represents a major step towards unifying Arab communities across geographical boundaries, it has also sparked discussions and debates about its implications for regional dynamics and geopolitics.

[STORY] Samir Al-Saleh Appointed as Chairman of the FPU

In the aftermath of the regrettable policies and subsequent resignation of the ill-fated President Bouden, the politburo of the Fatmid People's Union (FPU) found it necessary to declare a state of emergency, subsequently announcing Samir Al-Saleh as the provisional leader tasked with steering the nation through this particularly stormy period. Bouden's credibility had completely crumbled following the disastrous invasion of the Horn of Africa and the widely criticized closure of mosques almost leading to civil war. Her departure was, therefore, greeted with a sigh of relief by many who felt utterly betrayed by his administration's gross mismanagement and glaring incompetence. The communist project had lived to survive another day in North Africa.

Al-Saleh, a vocal critic of Bouden, is seen as a beacon of hope by many who yearn for an era characterized by responsible governance and prosperity. However, this optimism is tempered by a cloud of suspicion that hangs over Samir. His well-documented close ties to the Union of Socialist Levantine Republics (ULSR) have raised alarm bells in certain quarters, with some fearing that he may be susceptible to influence from the ULSR politburo. These concerns have been compounded by the fear that his appointment may inadvertently lead to the FPU becoming a subservient puppet state under the control of the ULSR.

The politburo deliberation that led to Samir's selection was marked by a series of unusual occurrences. Notably, several members, who were previously vocal about their reservations concerning the ULSR, curiously shifted their stance, voicing uncharacteristic support for Samir. It was widely known that some of these members had recently taken trips to the ULSR and had received gifts that, while ostensibly innocuous, were of significant value. Such acts of generosity from the ULSR had, in the past, been linked to covert attempts to gain influence within foreign governments. Additionally, some of the politburo members exhibited signs of anxiety during the deliberation, exchanging awkward glances that seemed to convey a sense of shared, albeit unspoken, understanding of the covert forces at play. This behavior lent credence to the whispers that the ULSR had successfully infiltrated the FPU's politburo through a web of bribery and subtle coercion. Despite these undercurrents, the session ended with a unanimous vote in favor of Samir, a decision that was met with a mix of cautious optimism and quiet apprehension by the FPU populace. Amidst these political maneuverings, it was also announced that the nation would undergo a rebranding, changing its name from the Fatimid People's Union to the North African People's Union (NAPU), a move that was met with mixed reactions from the citizens. The intent is to depart with the poor legacy of the FPU and create a more inclusive name without the negative connotations, leaving the Fatmids in the past.

In a carefully crafted acceptance speech, Samir was quick to acknowledge the daunting challenges that lay ahead and pledged to work tirelessly to restore the NAPU's standing on the global stage and to rebuild the nation from the ground up. He minced no words in denouncing the actions of the previous administration and made a passionate call for unity among the NAPU's diverse population. "We must rise above the failures of the past and build a new, unified state for all peoples that acts as a shining beacon of freedom across the region," Samir passionately declared. "We possess the capability to rebuild, but it will necessitate solidarity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to our core values."

Despite the mountain of challenges that lie ahead, there exists a sense of cautious optimism that under Samir's astute leadership, the NAPU can recover from the failures of the past and build a brighter, more prosperous future for its people. However, only time will reveal if Samir can live up to the lofty expectations placed upon him and if he possesses the necessary acumen to navigate the intricate geopolitical landscape, ultimately securing a prosperous future for the Fatmid People's Union.

[STORY] Iran accuses Arabia of Slant Drilling

The Arab Federation's Directional Drilling Campaign Sparks Tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran

Date: August 30, 2032

Tensions have risen to a new high in the Gulf Area as the Arab Federation finds itself embroiled in a bitter dispute with Iran over alleged slant drilling into multiple shared oil and gas fields. The accusation by Iran that Arab Federation has been extracting natural resources from its territory has ignited a potential conflict that could have far-reaching implications for the region's stability and energy markets.

Iran has claimed that Arabia's drilling campaigns are significantly affecting their revenue, as the disputed drilling operations encroach into Iran's oil and gas-rich territories. The simmering tensions come at a time when geopolitical rivalries are already contributing to a delicate balance in the region.

The Arab Federation, responding to the allegations, has denied any wrongdoing and stated that its drilling operations are within its own territorial boundaries. However, these assertions have not assuaged Iran's concerns, leading to a dangerous escalation in rhetoric from both sides.

One significant aspect exacerbating the situation is the Arab Federation's ongoing infrastructure development project. The Federation has been investing heavily in the construction of assets such as pipelines, pressure vessels and booster stations to transfer its oil and gas towards the Red Sea, Arab Sea and the Levant for further exports. This strategic move is aimed at reducing its dependency on the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime passage that has historically been a hotspot of tension, ensuring uninterrupted export of resources even in the event of conflicts that might involve the closure of the strait.

To safeguard its energy resources, the Arab Federation has also ramped up its capacity to store oil and gas. The number of storage tanks has reportedly increased, signaling the Arab's preparedness for potential disruptions to its energy infrastructure. While official statements from the Arab Federation have been cautious, regional analysts interpret these moves as indications of the Federation's anticipation of an impending conflict.

International stakeholders are closely monitoring the situation. Any escalation in the conflict could have severe ramifications for global energy prices and geopolitical stability. The potential for naval clashes in the vital Gulf waters is a real concern that could disrupt international trade and lead to unintended consequences.

As the dispute continues to unfold, diplomatic efforts have been underway to mediate between the Arab Federation and Iran. The international community is urging restraint and a peaceful resolution to the escalating crisis. However, with underlying historical animosities and geopolitical ambitions at play, finding a satisfactory solution is challenging.

The world watches as tensions rise in the Gulf Area, hoping that diplomacy will prevail over confrontation and that a peaceful resolution can be achieved before the situation spirals out of control.

  • The National Army of Arabia: The Arabian Army, led by Major General Matar Salim Rashid al Balushi, consists of 660,000 personnel responsible for rapid deployment, land-based warfare, border protection, internal security, and peacekeeping efforts.

  • The National Air Force of Arabia: The Arabian Air Force, under the leadership of Major General Ibrahim Nasser Mohammed al Alawi, comprises 80,000 highly trained personnel.

  • The National Guard of Arabia: The Royal Guard, commanded by Major General Mutlaq bin Salem Al-Azima, is comprised of 50,000 elite soldiers. Their task is to protect the Secretary General, Royal families, key government installations, and strategic assets.

  • National Security Services: The Intelligence agency of Arabia, led by Major General Ali Hassan al Ahmadi, has been allocated 20,000 personnel. They play a critical role in intelligence gathering, countering terrorism, monitoring regional developments, and providing timely information to decision-makers.

  • Special Security Forces: under the command Major General Ibrahim Haidan, the SSF consist of 45,000 highly trained commandos. Their expertise in unconventional warfare, counterterrorism, and special operations enhances Arabia's ability to respond swiftly and effectively to security challenges.

  • Political Security Organization: led by Major General AbeidAllah Maaitah, under the Secretary General's supervision, the PSO operates independently and has its own detention centers. With a personnel count of 45,000, the PSO will ensure political stability, safeguards national security, and prevents internal threats.

  • Criminal Investigative Department: Attached to the Ministry of Interior, led by Major General Abdullah Yahya al Hakim, the CID is responsible for conducting most criminal investigations and arrests. The CID's 30,000 personnel will play a vital role in combating crime, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding the well-being of Arab citizens.

This comprehensive restructuring is only the beginning to modernize the nation's military capabilities. The allocation of manpower, resources and leadership across various branches creates a balanced and effective military force capable of addressing Arabia's security concerns.

Top military officials and their direct subordinates, from all branches of the Arabian Armed Forces, gathered at the Capital City of Riyadh to demonstrate their allegiance to the Natjon through a military ceremony in the presence of the Secretary General, National Cabinet Ministers, the Royal Families, Religious Clergy and Sheikhs of various tribes.

M: Armed forces personnel numbers before the conflict with Iran. I will be posting in future all equipments plus procurement from years 2023 to 2035 as well the structure of the divisions, brigades and units to go more into detail.

[STORY] Pulling the Trigger

#TOP SECRET

##Office of the General Intelligence Bureau of the Union of Levantine Socialist Republics

January 2033

Sitrep

Operation Mahsah has so far been successful. The ULSR intelligence apparatus was able to use the existing situation in the FPU to our advantage, bringing together the communist enemies of President Bouden and ensuring that they are all under our payroll. Having made contact with the trade unions, certain elements in the army, and certain elements in the intelligence deep state, the Intelligence Bureau recommends that the trigger be pulled to set our plan into motion.

Operation Shams

During the typically televised sessions of the FPU Parliament, MP Samir El-Saleh will give an impassioned televised speech that would be rapidly circulated on social media using ULSR intelligence assets. This speech would call for a vote of no confidence and the resignation of Bouden. This would naturally result in his arrest which would be televised using hidden cameras given to MPs in the form of pens, pins, and other mundane equipment.

The plan is to use the arrest to cause large unrest in Cairo that would spread to other cities. By paying off local groups to protest en masse a la Operation Ajax, it would set the stage for the demise of Bouden using assets from the intelligence and military apparatus. This would also establish El-Saleh as the de facto leader of the anti-Bouden movement, allowing for his prompt selection by the Politburo should the coup succeed.

Amidst the chaos and mass demonstrations that would naturally arise, members of the intelligence directorate and army would move to arrest Bouden for crimes against the FPU, launching a full on coup within Cairo. Smaller groups of free officers in Bengazi, Algiers, Rabat, and Tunis would also be called upon to disavow the Bouden regime.

It is noted however that the plan is likely risky as failure to arrest Bouden in a bloodless coup may spark a civil war. It is thus recommended as a contingency to have an assassination plan ready. Forces in theatre in Sinai, Cairo, and Aswan that have remained since the Horn War should be prepared to move if need be.

The die has been cast. Samir entered the parliament yet again, anxious after having heard his recent orders. The fate of the FPU now rests in his hands, as does his own fate. To go up against the established leadership could mean death, but is death not preferable to a life of suffering and humiliation? Samir took a deep breath and sat down in his seat.

As the parliament was in session, with the president presiding over the council. Samir scanned the room. The expression of the majority of the members of the politburo was clear. The anticipation was palpable.

It was now Samir's chance to make a motion. And with it, the fate of North Africa lies in his hands.

"Fellow comrades, I stand before you today not as a member of this parliament, but as a citizen of the Fatmid People's Union, deeply concerned about the state of our beloved nation. The time has come for us to face the harsh realities that plague our country and to take decisive action to address them."

"President Bouden, a comrade of ours, has unfortunately led us down a path of mismanagement and incompetence. Her decision to shut down mosques across the country has not only infringed upon the religious freedoms of our citizens but has also fueled discontent and division among our people. This, in a nation that prides itself on its rich tapestry of cultures and beliefs."

President Bouden's looks visibly shocked at the audacity of this MP to speak out against the President of the Politburo.

"Moreover, the ill-fated invasion of the Horn of Africa has brought nothing but humiliation and loss to our great nation. Instead of pursuing peaceful and cooperative relations with our neighbors, we have resorted to aggression and warfare, squandering precious lives and resources in the process."

A series of MPs began cheering, particularly those from the Southern Egyptian region.

"Comrades, it is with a heavy heart that I call for a vote of no confidence in President Bouden. It is not a decision that I take lightly, but one that I believe is necessary for the future of our nation. We need a leader who can guide us with wisdom and integrity, who can heal the wounds of our past and lead us towards a brighter, more prosperous future."

"Let us not be blinded by loyalty or nostalgia. Let us instead be guided by our principles and our commitment to the well-being of our people. It is time for us to chart a new course for the Fatmid People's Union, one that is rooted in justice, equality, and peace."

Bouden looks to the doors of the Politburo as a group of armed secret service entered the room. Samir glances at the door.

"I recognize that this may be my last statement in these halls, but let my voice echo like the martyrs that came before me and died for their freedom. It is time for change and it is time for the people's voices to be heard. Comrade Bouden must go!"

The men begin walking towards Samir as the hall suddenly goes quiet....

[m: Roll 1: Arrest of Samir and his immediate fate (high = more peaceful), Roll 2: Protestor Payoffs (high = success), Roll 3: Officers Coup (high = more officers), Roll 4: Intelligence Apparatus Coup (high = more involvement), Roll 5: ULSR involvement secrecy (high = secrecy maintained); subsequent rolls should the above fail would include legitimate reactions to Samir's fate, civil war probability, support for Bouden, and potential islamist factions rising.

[Secret]

The Balochistan region, divided between Iran and Pakistan, is a breeding ground for insurgency. The inhabitants, unwilling to align with either nation, aspire to establish their own state. However, they struggle to choose a leader among themselves.

In an effort to escalate tensions between Iran and Pakistan, certain elements in the Baloch community in Pakistan have been persuaded by Arabia, to initiate a campaign advocating an improbable goal: the transfer of Pakistan's Balochistan region to Iran.

The intention behind this scheme is to exacerbate the rift between Iran and Pakistan, eroding any remaining trust and potentially pushing the two countries closer to a future conflict. These actors will be supplied with Iranian currency and instructed to point fingers at the suspected instigators when caught.

[STORY] Bulking Season

MINISTRY OF DEFENCE 5-5-2030

In the wake of escalating tensions and a desire for regional stability, the Arab Federation embarked on a 5-year preparation for a potential conflict to liberate the Kingdom of Iraq & Emirate of Ahwaz from Iran. The Federation's leaders recognized the need for a comprehensive strategy and set forth a series of specific plans and agendas.

  1. Recruitment and Training Programs: The Federation launched an ambitious campaign to bolster its armed forces, aiming to consist of one million personnel. A rigorous recruitment process targeted individuals with dedication and skills, ensuring a well-rounded force. Training facilities were established to provide soldiers with modern combat skills, emphasizing teamwork and adaptability.

  2. Hiring of Mercenaries in Iraq: Recognizing the importance of local support, the Federation discreetly hired skilled mercenaries within Iraq. These individuals possessed valuable knowledge of the region's terrain and dynamics, providing a crucial edge in potential conflict zones.

  3. Utilizing Islamic Holy Orders: The Federation strategically engaged with Islamic holy orders that had a significant influence in Iraq. By forging alliances and garnering support from religious leaders, the Federation gained both popular and moral backing, creating a united front against the perceived Iranian threat.

  4. Modernizing Airforce, Navy, and Army: A significant portion of the preparation focused on upgrading the Federation's military hardware. The Airforce received cutting-edge fighter jets, the Navy saw the inclusion of advanced naval vessels, and the Army was equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and equipment. This modernization aimed to enhance combat effectiveness and maintain a technological edge.

  5. Increased Procurement Budget: To ensure a formidable force, the Federation allocated a larger procurement budget. This facilitated the acquisition of superior arms, ammunition, and equipment, enabling the military to operate efficiently and respond effectively to potential threats.

  6. Supply Chain Optimization: Recognizing the importance of logistics, the Federation meticulously optimized its supply chain. This involved establishing secure routes for resource transportation and setting up storage facilities to maintain a consistent flow of supplies to frontline troops.

  7. Strategic Planning: Military strategists meticulously mapped out potential scenarios and devised comprehensive plans for various contingencies. Strategies were developed to counter Iranian tactics while minimizing civilian casualties and collateral damage.

  8. Building Discipline and Cohesion: A disciplined and unified military was vital for success. Rigorous training exercises, leadership development programs, and team-building activities were conducted to instill a strong sense of discipline, cohesion, and camaraderie among the troops.

The Arab Federation shall stand as a formidable force, ready to re-install the Kingdom of Iraq & Emirate of Ahwaz and protect the region from instability. The leadership's calculated approach to recruitment, training, modernization, and strategic planning positioned the Federation for a potential conflict while upholding its commitment to a just and stable outcome.

[DIPLOMACY] Coalition to liberate Iraq

Dear Esteemed Representatives of the Nations of ULSR and FPU,

We hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. In light of recent developments and the pressing need to address the situation in the region, we are reaching out to discuss a matter of utmost importance: the potential formation of a military coalition to liberate Iraq & Ahwaz from its annexation by Iran.

As Arab nations committed to regional stability, peace, and the protection of national sovereignty, we believe it is imperative that we come together to address the grave situation in Iraq. The annexation by Iran poses a direct threat not only to the people of Iraq but to the entire region's stability.

In this regard, we propose a collaborative effort to prepare for a military coalition within the next five years with the goal of liberating Iraq from Iranian control. We understand that such an endeavor requires careful planning, coordination, and international support. To that end, we suggest the following steps:

  1. Regular Military Exercises:

    • In order to enhance our collective readiness and interoperability, we propose the regular conduct of joint military exercises in the nearby region. These exercises will serve to strengthen our military capabilities, improve coordination, and foster a sense of unity among our armed forces.
  2. Formation of a Coalition Task Force:

    • We recommend the establishment of a joint task force comprised of representatives from our respective militaries. This task force will be responsible for strategizing, planning, and coordinating the military campaign to liberate Iraq.
  3. Financial Support for Military Recovery:

    • Recognizing the challenges your nations have faced in recent conflicts, we are prepared to offer financial assistance to aid in the recovery and rebuilding of your military capabilities. Our intention is to strengthen your forces and ensure that we stand united in this crucial endeavor.
  4. Engagement with International Partners:

    • We propose initiating discussions with our strategic partners and allies to garner their support for our coalition effort. International support will be vital for the success of our mission, and we believe that together, we can mobilize a strong coalition.

It is our sincere hope that you will consider this proposal with the gravity it deserves. The liberation of Iraq is not only a matter of regional security but a statement in defense of justice, sovereignty, and the principles of international relations. We anticipate that our joint efforts will bring about a more stable and prosperous future for the region.

We kindly request your thoughts, insights, and feedback on this proposal. Let us work together to create a roadmap for our coalition's success. We remain open to further discussions and are committed to fostering an environment of cooperation and understanding.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Secretary General of the Arab Federation H.E. Mohammed al Hadhrami

#"The Earth Says Hello!"

##"Gravity-well anomaly confirmed by Canadian Space Agency, Captain Canada Hadfield to give statement on future exploration."

CBC News | Issued on: 04/05/2055 - 12:00 | New Juneau, Canada

NEW JUNEAU - Only a month after the People's Champion's announcement declaring the war against the Unity to be largely over and extending the Federation's reach into the Stars, the Canadian Space Agency has dropped another jaw-dropping international announcement regarding a tragic accident that occurred beyond the Canadian New Asteroid Belt. The incident which involved the destruction of two Viking-class Intersystem Transport Vessels has yet to be fully investigated, limited knowledge being shared both within and outside public circles. However, the Canadian Space Agency has thus far confirmed that the tragic loss of two space-craft earlier this month was the result of a gravity-well which appeared well beyond the Canadian New Asteroid Belt. The nature of the well is one that suggests the presence of a previously undiscovered wormhole within the existent solar-system, something that Third American Republic specialists have also confirmed.

Already the current People's Champion has promised that the m.W.o or Moral World Order will be assembling to discuss the appearance of a wormhole within the system, Brazil's Champion and Head of State making a particularly pointed statement suggesting that the wormhole might be the result of the Axis of Evil and thus warrants serious unified responses. Thus far however all major powers have confirmed that no other interactions have been noted with the wormhole. Likewise, the People's Champion has promised that there would not be a "long and drawn out conflict in Space", suggesting that the m.W.o's capabilities where more than significant enough to handle whatever might be out there. Similarly the ongoing festivities as part of "Champion's Day" celebrating the end of the Unity threat across Russia would also remain unaffected as festivals, fairs, and world wrestling is planned to continue across the Earth in most friendly-allied countries.

In closing remarks, the People's Champion also promised that "The People will Rise Higher and Higher".

[STORY] (FPU) Pt 2: Tales from Mahdia, Unrest within the Politburo

December 2032

The grand meeting room of the politburo was an imposing chamber, adorned with red banners and portraits of the revolutionary leader President Bouden. Today, however, the room was filled with an electric tension that seemed to crackle in the air. President Bouden, looking sternly and visibly stressed, sat at the head of a long, polished table. Flanked by her closest advisors, she addressed the assembled members with a stern countenance.

The recent defeat in the Horn of Africa was a sore subject, and the decision to shut down the mosques had only added fuel to the fire. Bouden was aware that there were factions within the politburo that were unhappy with her leadership, but she was determined to stamp out any dissent.

As the meeting progressed, it became clear that there was a deep divide within the room. While some members voiced their support for Bouden's policies, others remained conspicuously silent, exchanging furtive glances and avoiding eye contact. Among them were MP Samir and MP Amina, who had been working tirelessly behind the scenes to rally support for their cause.

The atmosphere in the room was thick with suspicion. Bouden, sensing the undercurrents of dissent, tried to assert her authority. "We must stand united in these trying times," she declared, her voice firm. "Divisions within our ranks will only serve to weaken us."

A murmur of assent rippled through the room, but it was half-hearted at best. The members of the politburo knew that the divisions were already too deep to be healed with mere words. As the meeting wore on, the exchanges became more heated, with members voicing their concerns about the direction the country was headed in.

Samir and Amina exchanged covert glances across the table, their eyes communicating a shared understanding. The time was ripe for action, and they needed to seize the opportunity before it slipped away.

Throughout the meeting, the influence of the ULSR was subtly evident. MP Karim Abdelwahab, who had recently returned from a 'diplomatic trip' to the ULSR, occasionally interjected with points that seemed to mirror the ULSR's stance on various issues. His pen, a distinctive design only available in the ULSR, glinted in the light as he made notes. MP Laila Boulem, on the other hand, wore a brooch that was a gift from a 'friend' in the ULSR in the colors of both the FPU and the ULSR's flag.

Both Karim and Laila, along with a few others, had been receiving funds discreetly from the ULSR to support their cause against Bouden. The ULSR, having consolidated the global communist movement, had a vested interest in seeing a more cooperative leadership in the FPU.

Throughout the meeting, Karim and Laila exchanged subtle glances of understanding with Samir and Amina. Other members of the politburo, too, seemed to be harbouring reservations about Bouden's leadership, though none dared to voice their concerns openly.

Bouden, blissfully unaware of the undercurrents of dissent and foreign influence swirling around her, continued to expound on her policies. She remained oblivious to the fact that the majority of those present were already plotting her downfall, some with the backing of foreign powers.

Despite the mounting opposition, there was a palpable sense of apprehension in the air. Overthrowing the president was a risky move, and there was no guarantee that it would lead to a better future.

As the meeting drew to a close, Bouden made a final appeal for unity. "We must remember the principles that brought us together as a movement," she implored. "The actions I have taken were difficult, yet necessary. Only by working together can we overcome the challenges that lie ahead."

The members of the politburo rose from their seats and filed out of the room, their expressions a mix of determination and apprehension. As the door swung shut behind them, the lingering glances exchanged between Samir, Amina, and their allies conveyed a silent promise: the time for change was at hand, and they would stop at nothing to see it realized.

[STORY] HIPPITY HOPPITY GET OFF MY PROPERTY

Governments in Exile - United against the Persians

After completely occupying the territory of Iraq in whole, Iran now has the ability to march into the capital city of Riyadh in just a few hours. Such level of threat cannot go by without taking immediate action, however there was nothing that Arab Federation was able to do at the time as the official government had invited Iran with open arms. Now that Iran has integrated Iraq with no sign of future release, the Arab Federation makes itself clear by openly sponsoring governments in exile within the capital city, and has selected leaders of the proposed Emirates that hold legitimacy.

Emirate of Baghdad: Sheikh Ghazi Mashal Ajil Al Yawer

Following the Iranian takeover, Sheikh Ghazi has sought assistance of the Arab Federation to restore Iraq as part of the Arab League, though a deal has been made to grant him the Emirate of Baghdad due to his previous roles as a leading politician and his status of nobility granting him legitimacy to rule as a member of the Shammar tribal confederation.

Emirate of Basra: Sheikh Jamal Sabri Al Sa'adoon

Sheikh Jamal is a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed and his ancestors ruled Iraq for 400 years under auspices of the Ottomans before the Hashimids replaced them with the backing of Great Britain. Although the tribe's nominal leaders are Maliki Sunnis, most of the tribe's members follow the Twelver Shia sect of Islam.

Emirate of Ahwaz: Sheikh Ali Jaber Khaz'al Al Kaabi

Sheikh Ali is the grandson of Khaz'al al Kaabi, the last ruler of Arabistan, which was annexed by Iran's Pahlavi dynasty last century. Ahwazi Arabs have not been forgotten as they have managed to maintain ties to keep their message of liberation alive due to the cruel treatment of the Persians against the Arabistani locals.

The Arab Federation shall be sponsoring these governments in exile and provide all the necessary funds required to carry out the missions successfully. These missions are of utmost importance and are set at highest priorities of the National Government to deal with.

Mission 1: Spiritual Soldiers

Twelver Shia Ayatollah's & religious clergy based in Arabia, Iraq, Levant, Pakistan & India have been provided with bribes to denounce the Iranian Regime and label the Supreme Leader as a tyranical Ayatollah, undermine his legitimacy and sway their followers towards the Hawza of Dammam. Sunni religious leaders following both Salafism & Sufism are encouraged to speak to their followers on the need for an uprising and taking up arms against the Persians, since they have been on Arabia's payroll from the beginning, such as the Naqshbandis and Qadiris. The message is to not tolerate oppressors and instigate the people to rise up against the Iranian regime.

Mission 2: Freedom Fighters

Liberation movements, seperatists groups, and para-military leaders are approached and provided with substantial sums of cash to carry out necessary steps to do with planning and organizing large scale protests, attacks on Iranian Security & Miltary personnel & buildings, as well as cyber security hacks on the system to gather and share intelligence on current state of affairs in Iran. After monitoring the security activities and find optimal times to strike, the main goal is to set a message that the longer the occupation then there will be more trouble.

Mission 3: Bad Apples

The Ministry of Interior have been scouting for several agents in the Iranian regime that is willing to give valuable information related to Iranian leadership, however this time it will attempt to firmly establish agents within the networks of the Military & Diplomatic spheres. Once signal is clear that the individuals are open to taking bribes and switching sides, then it will give an opportunity to be able to infiltrate the Supreme Leader's inner circle. Even Pro-Iranian Arab Militia groups will be infiltrated to turn the tables.

Mission 4: Picture Perfect

Arab media will increase production of Anti-Persian propaganda and ramp up the rhetoric By keeping the Arabistan/Iraq story on Official news and inviting Influential spokespersons down with the cause since day one, creating content related to pan-Arabism, and portraying the Persians as occupiers, the Arab people are made more aware of the crimes committed, comparing it to the struggle of the Palestinian Arabs under Zionist occupation, but with an area over 50 times larger than the Holy Lands. Documentaries will be made in both Arabic, English, Swahili, Hindi, and Farsi.

[STORY] (FPU) A Levantine Afghanistan, Unrest in Mahdia

December 2032

Cairo, the beating heart of the Fatmid People's Union (FPU), was a city on edge. The wounds of the humiliating defeat in the war with the Horn of Africa were still raw, and the streets pulsed with an undercurrent of anger and disillusionment. The citizens, who had once looked to their leaders with hope and pride, now whispered their discontent in hushed tones, afraid of the ever-watchful eyes of the state.

In the cafes along the Nile, where the intellectuals, artists, and also the unemployed youth gathered, the conversations were dominated by critiques of the government's warmongering policies and the heavy toll they had exacted on the nation. Among the communist cadres, the dissatisfaction ran even deeper. The leadership's deviation from the principles of Marxism-Leninism, as they saw it, was a betrayal that could not be ignored.

As if the sting of the military defeat was not enough, the government had taken a series of measures that further inflamed the public sentiment. Chief among them was the decision to shut down mosques across the country, a move that was viewed as a direct assault on the cultural and religious identity of the people. The government justified the move as a necessary step to curb the influence of religious extremists, but for many, it was a step too far. The mosques, they argued, were not just places of worship, but also community centers that played a crucial role in the social fabric of the nation. To shut them down was to tear at the very fabric of society.

As the discontent spread like wildfire, the politburo remained blissfully unaware of the storm that was brewing. Locked in their ivory towers, they remained detached from the struggles of the common people and blind to the mounting opposition within their own ranks.

In the crowded apartments of downtown Cairo, clandestine meetings were held, where the seeds of a revolution were sown. Mohamed, an undercover agent from the ULSR, and Amina, his confidante in the FPU politburo, were at the center of these gatherings. Together, they plotted a course of action that would change the course of the FPU’s history.

Their first task was to rally the support of the communist cadres, who were already disillusioned with the leadership's direction. These cadres, comprising party members, intellectuals, and labor union leaders, would form the backbone of the movement to oust the current leadership and chart a new course for the nation.

As the meetings continued late into the night, a consensus began to emerge. The time for change had come, and they would be the ones to usher it in. The plan was audacious, but they were fueled by a determination that was stronger than any fear. The winds of discontent were blowing strong, and they would carry them towards a new dawn.

In a dimly lit corner of the apartment, Mohamed and Amina sat huddled over a stack of papers, their faces illuminated by the flickering candlelight. They were reviewing a list of names, potential allies who could be swayed to their cause with the right incentives.

"We need to secure more funds," Mohamed murmured, his brow furrowed in concern. "Bribing officials is not cheap, and we need to ensure that our supporters are well taken care of."

Amina nodded, her eyes scanning the list of names. "I have a contact in the trade union who can help us funnel money from their coffers and cover up the ULSR's support. It's risky, but it's our best shot."

Mohamed looked at her, his expression serious. "We need to be careful, Amina. If we get caught, it won't just be our heads on the line. They'll crack down on everyone, even those remotely associated with us."

Amina reached over and squeezed his hand, her gaze steady. "I know the risks, Mohamed. But this is our only chance to change things for the better. We can't afford to back down now."

Mohamed, nodded, taking a deep breath. "You're right. We've come too far to turn back now. Let's get the funds and start rallying our supporters. The road ahead will be treacherous, but with enough support, we can overthrow the current leadership and steer this nation towards a brighter future."

As they left the apartment, they cast furtive glances over their shoulders, aware that the eyes of the state were everywhere. The air was thick with tension, but also with a sense of hope. Despite the fear of reprisal, they knew that they were on the right path, and they were determined to see it through to the end.

After leaving the apartment, Mohamed and Amina made their way to a nondescript building in a quiet corner of the city where they met up with another member of the Politburo, Samir El-Saleh. Inside, they were met by Tariq, a high-ranking official in the Mukhabarat, the state's intelligence agency. Tariq was a key ally in the movement, and he had been working diligently to leverage the intelligence deep state against President Bouden.

The room they met in was sparsely furnished, with only a wooden table and a few chairs. Tariq greeted them with a firm handshake and got straight to the point. "I've managed to secure some more support within the Mukhabarat," he said. "There are many who are unhappy with Bouden's leadership and are willing to back our movement."

Samir and Amina exchanged a glance of relief. Having the support of the Mukhabarat was crucial to their plan. "That's excellent news," Amina replied. "We'll need all the support we can get if we're to succeed."

Tariq nodded, his expression serious. "I've also been gathering intelligence on Bouden's inner circle," he continued. "There are a few who remain loyal to her, and we need to be careful."

Samir leaned forward, his eyes focused on Tariq. "Do you have any names?" he asked.

Tariq handed them a list of names and positions. "These are the ones we need to watch out for," he said. "They are Bouden's most trusted advisors, and they will fight to keep her in power."

Amina studied the list carefully, memorizing each name. "Thank you, Tariq," she said. "Your help is invaluable."

Tariq nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "We're all in this together," he replied. "It's time for a change, and I'm glad to be a part of it."

"I trust that our friends in the east will continue funneling funds to our cause?" he said looking at Mohamed.

Mohamed smiled, "Yes, you can count on the ULSR to ensure the survival of our project".

As they left the building, Samir and Amina felt a renewed sense of purpose. With the support of the Mukhabarat, they were one step closer to realizing their vision.

[DIPLOMACY] British Agents in the MENA

So far, besides the British Army, Arabia's army are the only nations that operate the Challenger 2 MBT. Things seem to be changing in this aspect. Multiple joint excersises have been conducted to test out the performance of the CR2.

Arabia wishes to signs an MoU with UK for the production of the Challenger 2 MBT to be manufactured/assembled locally and license to sell it to ULSR & FPU. The Ministry of defence has granted the 50/50 British/Arab JV 12 acres of land for this project. The cheaper local labour will cut down the production costs by more than 40% as compared to British labour. Management and director level will still see more British manpower due to their experience in manufacturing.

This project will allow for the countries of harsh desert environments such as the FPU and ULSR to purchase these units directly from Arabia allowing for faster production of the modified edition of the Challenger 2 MBT, and faster production and optimized delivery timing. The plant is scheduled to be comissioned by 2032.

Standard price for a single unit will cost $5.5 Million, orders between 10 to 24 quantity will reduce the price to $5.4 Million, and any order with quantities 25 and over Units will reduce the price to $5.2 Million.

The MoD also expresses their desire to contribute towards the research & development of the Challenger 3-A MBT, adaptable for the harsh desert environment of Arabia. After successful development The AF commits to spending $500 million towards upgrading 80 of its existing Challenger 2 MBT towards Challenger 3 specs.

[RETCON] A Summary of Middle Eastern History 2023-2032

In the years following the events which occurred in North America, a series of changes occurred across the world heralding an era known as the "Era of the Superstate". As nations across the world consolidated their power through various agreements with their neighbours, the MENA region saw similar changes.

m: this serves to flesh out regional actors and ensure synergy with the other claimant in the region so that the timelines and events are linked.

#The Formation: 2023-2028

The ULSR: An Unbreakable Union of Free Republics

Disillusioned with the forever war pushed by capitalist imperialist forces, the Israeli people cast off the chains of capitalist oppression and embraced a new communist worldview, one that unites all workers regardless of ethnicity or religion. This movement grew in amplitude as similar revolutions were observed in Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon, culminating in the establishment of a socialist society and the creation of the Union of Levantine Socialist Republics. All religions were given equal status, and the status quo in Jerusalem was maintained. While there was initial pushback against the move, largely from the militant and religious aspects of Israeli society, the dissenting elements were quickly dealt with and both the military and parliament were secured from any reactionary sentiment. The newly formed Politburo invested greatly in state security, expanding existing state intelligence operations to keep the peace and handle any reactionaries.

As such, there was a large exodus of predominately dual nationals that decided that they were unwilling to live in a more egalitarian society alongside Arabs. This effect was far more pronounced among the settler communities of the West Bank. Simultaneously, the government had also decided to grant the right of return to all Palestinian refugees, and initiating a redevelopment plan for ruined villages and towns across the nation that would be rebuilt in a more modern fashion to accommodate the refugees. As such, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict had finally been resolved and the one true conflict would come to light; class conflict.

As part of the greater project of establishing a communist society, the ULSR leveraged its existing industrial base by applying a policy of dirigisme, similar to the idea of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Taking from this ideology, a series of existing companies received large federal grants to invest in key technological sectors deemed to be necessary for the establishment of communism. Larger projects were invested in on the basis of a public-private partnership, with the end result being fully owned by a large state owned corporation. In regions where existing firms did not exist, large state corporations were established in which labor rights would be respected and proceeds reinvested by the central planning committee. As such, billions were invested in Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine to increase the level of economic development to similar levels than in Israel proper.

The Fatmid Union: Path to War

m:The claimant has since deleted their original posts, so I will have to go off of memory Created in the aftermath of the era of the hyperstate, the Fatmid Union was a union of North African states led by Abdelfattah el Sisi as a direct result of the collapse of American hegemony and a desire for increased security. While Sisi had initially kept the union together and created a largely unitary state ruling from Cairo, regional differences, increasing inequality, and economic hardship resulted in mass unrest. This culminated in the fall of the Sisi regime, and the establishment of the Fatmid People's Union (FPU), a socialist state led by President Najla Bouden.

In a desire to purge reactionary islamist elements, the nation began to implement draconian and unpopular laws attempting to clamp down on Islamism in the region, but instead effectively enforcing state athiesm. Brought to the brink of an open revolt, and with the ULSR being a friendly communist ally providing weapons and support, the nation needed a common enemy to blame its economic hardships on and unite the people through. It found this through the horn of Africa and its Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project and the Horn's acquisition of Sudan. The GERD project is said to reduce crop yields and cause increased chances of drought as the dam is being filled. This would provide an adequate justification for the economic conditions currently experienced in Egypt. Moreover, the Arab and Muslim majority Sudanese junta joining with the largely Bantu christian Horn as opposed to the FPU was seen poorly in the FPU. Given the Sudanese Junta and its prior dealings with foreign actors, the FPU painted the Horn's control over Sudan as occupation of Arab lands that it must liberate. Thus, a perfect storm was created in which a militarized FPU needing a distraction from economic hardship had decided to create an enemy where there was none, drawing it ever so closely to war with its neighbour. In the meantime, the ULSR would watch patiently as the fate of the communist project in the region rested in the survival of an increasingly aggressive and unstable regime. The situation was very much reminiscent of the relationship between the unpopular Amin-Taraki regime in Afghanistan and the Soviets.

The Horn: A Nation United by Fire

The union of Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia came as a surprise to many, particularly due to Ethiopia’s disagreements with neighbouring Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia. Nonetheless, the union came to fruition which sparked outrage in Muslim North Africa. How could the Muslim majority Sudan, historically tied to Egypt, have its leaders suddenly turn its back on their brethren in favour of the enemy? This led to animosity between the two states, the very same animosity that would bring the rest of the union far closer together.

What became known as the Horn was a largely impoverished state dominated largely by the Ethiopians. With Somalia still reeling from instability caused by various insurgencies and militant groups, Eritrea largely keeping to itself, and Sudan suffering from the aftermath of a civil war, It was clear that Addis Ababa had come out on top. All this instability would however dissipate in light of a new threat, northern godless invaders. For all of its faults, the unfathomable “brother war” by fellow Africans resulted in a newfound sense of national identity and fear of being absorbed into what is effectively an atheist state. While this identity is far stronger in the south, it has begun to spread among the collective national consciousness of Sudan. This is not to say that there have not been any pro-independence sentiments, but the nation would fight tooth and nail to prevent itself from falling to the Bouden regime.

Turkey: Neo-Ottomanism

The world began to consolidate into various superstates, resulting in a scramble for the middle east. The United States had fallen, Russia was preoccupied, and Iraq and Syria were open for the taking. In Syria, the civil war had resulted in a stalemate where Bashar al Assad had all but won. A small sliver of occupied territory by the border with Turkey remained. This would eventually become a staging area for a Turkish Invasion of Syria and subsequent “liberation”.

Many within Syria were happy to see the fall of Bashar Al Assad, however many could also not complain. The occupation persisted as Turkey made several attempts to pacify the state and provide it with redevelopment and reconstruction aid, many of which had failed. To deal with the unrest once and for all, the Turkish government organized a referendum for union with Turkey or independence. The election was rigged. This came after Turkey had invited the ULSR to moderate the election. While the neutral moderators did raise flags on foul play, this did little to change the facts on the ground. Rigged or not, a sense of normalcy had returned to Syria as Turkey was to hold up its promise of reconstruction. While tensions continued to rise and aspirations of freedom not seen since 1914 had returned, peace has prevailed… for now.

Iran: Khomeini’s Dream

Iran had much to gain from the impending collapse of the United States and the rise of several superstates. Being given far more breathing room and time to act decisively, it set its sights on the holy city of Karbala, revered by those of the Shiite faith. The Islamic Republic had been influencing Iraq since 2003 and the rise of the clerics in Iraqi politics and the Hashd militia. What was considered to be a guaranteed permanent presence had quickly began to come into question. Tired of corruption and sectarian rule, mass protests resulted in a snap election in 2023. When the leadership failed to rig the results, the Hashd began opening fire on protestors attempting to restore a sense of normalcy. It was at this point that conflict had spiralled in Iraq. Tribes from various cities began rising up with their own small arms and declaring an Iraq free of Iranian influence. As the various militias began to form, Baghdad did the unthinkable; it openly invited Iran.

Much like the peninsular intervention forces sent by Saudi Arabia to Bahrain to quash the Arab spring revolt, Iranian regular troops were sent to Iraq to crush any rebellion. Outgunned and without any American support, non-Iranian militias were systematically destroyed leaving the pro-Iranian faction victorious. When the dust cleared, they immediately called for the establishment of a greater Islamic Republic and union with their theocratic neighbour, a move that would pave the way for further Iranian expansionism in the region inn the times to come.

GCC: Wealth from the Sands

M: since vanguard will be claiming, I will be retconning existing ARAMCO in the previous season with his claim.

The GCC had long existed as a vehicle for the emirates and kingdoms of the Arabian gulf to increase their cooperation. As we enter the era of the superstate, they too had the desire to unite as one. In the years between 2023 and 2030, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman joined as one confederation of monarchies.

The states of the Arabian Peninsula had spent the better part of the past ten years consolidating their union and growing stronger. While maintaining cordial relations with its neighbours, it begins to view Turkey, The Horn, Iran, and the ULSR with increasing distrust due to ideological differences and claims over occupied territories in Iraq and Syria. Time will tell whether these would be accepted as fait accompli, or whether the Arab Federation will choose to act. As a new dawn rises upon the Arabian Peninsula, the Arab Federation enters the global stage seeking to exert its influence.

#The First Water War (2028-2032)

Invasion of the Horn

As tensions between the Horn and the FPU continued to increase, and issues at home pressed the Bouden government into action, a spark was lit that set off the powderkeg. Ordering a large naval invasion of Eritrea and movement of troops into Sudan, the Horn was taken by surprise. Despite initial gains, the war dragged on for a good three years until it remained largely frozen. The FPU had taken control of the Northern half of Sudan, stopping just short of Khartoum, while it remained battered and bruised. The ULSR, needing to preserve its only communist ally in the region, decided to initiate a large arms procurement on behalf of the FPU. The agreement saw the FPU providing ideological concessions to the ULSR and agreeing to harmonize their five-year plans for economic development. In turn, India decided to support the Horn in its battle against the northern invasion resulting in a proxy war between the two states.

Amidst the chaos, the American troops at Camp Lelemonier in Djibouti had taken advantage of the unrest, aided by India, and secured the city of Djibouti alongside local partners, declaring its independence and preventing its fall to the FPU. Much like the Tangiers Free Zone, yet another western power seeks to divide a nation to establish control over a waterway.

When the smoke cleared, it became clear that a treaty was necessary. In a humiliating defeat due to an increasingly untenable situation, the FPU was forced to sign the Treaty of Delhi, a treaty which stipulated that the FPU was to blame for the conflict and was forced to pay 30B in reparations to the Horn as a result of the war. Nonetheless, the FPU did manage to partially accomplish their goals, pushing for international management of the GERD water levels as well as securing a large swathe of Northern Sudan, albeit, a territory worth far less than the thousands of lives it had expended in the process.

Domestically, despite propaganda, the war was perceived as a disaster. There are rumors within the ULSR intelligence apparatus of unrest in the higher echelons of the FPU’s politburo. and it remains to be seen what will happen next.

ULSR’s Progress

As part of its vision, the ULSR had begun investing greatly in automation, fusion power, and computing power. Beyond the ULSR, the nation has set its ambitions for the cosmos, and has begun greatly investing in its space program and space exploration. This comes at a time where mysterious messages have been detected coming from space. It had developed a vision of becoming one of the most advanced nations in the world, a paradise of the working class.

As it moves towards this goal, there are many that would seek to destroy it. The workers of the FPU had seized the means of production but were being led astray by their leadership. The Turks and Iranians were pleased by their current gains in Syria and Iraq, and can even be considered to be on good terms with the ULSR, but how long could this last?

The ULSR has set forth its military doctrine that would prevent its reliance on nuclear weaponry, instead focusing on ensuring conventional superiority and domestic production capability. To do so in the era of the superstate, the ULSR was forced to increase the size of its armed forces, maintaining a similar structure as its IDF predecessor, but increasing the total manpower to well over 500,000 men. Moreover, it seeks to be the armory of the proletarian movement internationally, dedicating a significant portion of its industrial base to supply the free nations of the world. Having invested in significant upsizing of the armed forces and the development of new technologies, particularly through cooperation with Singapore and India.

(Relevant Miltiary Posts)

In addition to its own economic and military development, the ULSR continues to seek strategic partnerships with its neighbours in a policy akin to socialism in one country. It currently boasts positive relations with Turkey to the north, excellent relations with the FPU, close ties with India, and cordial relations with its southern neighbours in the Arabian Federation. Of note however is its relationship with the FPU >! and its large network of operatives within the leadership of the FPU politburo!<. The ULSR had largely hoped to remain insular, but to preserve the communist project, it must protect the FPU at all costs from those that wish to destroy it, both internal and external. Having lost a significant portion of its armed forces, and suffering a looming economic crisis, the nation is more dependent than ever on the ULSR. The ULSR-FPU relationship will likely characterize the future of its diplomacy in the regional stage with the hope that this will not bring instability to the Levant, or worse, a renewed forever war.

[DIPLOMACY] Cause I'm an Island Boy

Since a delegation of Arab diplomats arrived in Seychelles on Thursday for a five-day visit, they lavished their hosts with promises of aid and investment. But this time, instead of writing a blank check with little more than a polite “thank you” to show for it, the Arabs will return home with something more substantial in return: one hundred islands in a strategic area of the Indian Ocean

Arabia has offered Seychelles $20 billion in a purchase of the Aldabra Group islands. The group contains four islands and atolls. The total land area of the Aldabra Group is 180.03 km². Seychelle's cabinet announced that it was transferring sovereignty of Aldabra Group Islands to the Arab Federation, which will be administered by the newly joined Sultan of Comoros.

The cabinet tried to suggest that the transfer of the westernmost territories pending approval from Parliament, will greatly benefit the smallest country in Africa, receiving a payment equivalent to 400% of its GDP. The transfer of the islands was the product of a negotiation over maritime boundaries, officials said. The islands’ value is mostly strategic, and they have been unoccupied except for a handful of scientists and researchers.

[DIPLOMACY] Re-establishing the Sultanate of Comoros

In a surprising turn of events, the Arab Federation extended an unprecedented offer to a fellow member of the Arab League, the Comoros Islands. An invitation to join their Union and embrace being apart of thr confederalization. The proposal marked the beginning of a new chapter in the nation's history, sparking both excitement and apprehension among its citizens.

As negotiations unfolded, a unique compromise emerged. It was decided that the Comoros would establish a Sultanate, with the esteemed Sayyid Ahmed Sambi assuming the role of a ceremonial monarch. This move aimed to preserve the nation's cultural heritage while aligning with the Federation's structure.

Under this arrangement, the Comoros' state government would continue to function, albeit within the framework of the Arab Federation. A transitional period of two years was set, during which the Comoros would work to integrate its systems and policies with those of the Union.

The Arab Federation displayed a commitment to the Comoros' development by pledging substantial investments in the nation's economy. Plans were swiftly put into action to build crucial infrastructure, such as modernizing transportation networks, establishing energy facilities, and upgrading communication systems. This infusion of resources held the promise of uplifting the Comoros' economy and improving the lives of its people.

However, as with any transformation of this magnitude, challenges arose. The delicate balance between retaining local autonomy and embracing Union principles required careful navigation. To ensure a smooth transition, discreet negotiations and bribery occurred behind closed doors. Government officials found themselves presented with irresistible offers, tempting them to overlook potential hurdles and embrace the merger with the Federation. Rumor has it that the Arab Federation has spent over $20 Billion in bribes, though there are no official records published, with government officials declining to comment.

As the transitional period unfolded, the story would undoubtedly be marked by a blend of hope, skepticism, and the resilience of a nation determined to define its destiny within the context of the Arab Federation.

[CLAIM] ULSR Continues

m: continuing the ULSR from last season

#ORIGINAL CLAIM POST

#Israel: From Occupation to Liberation

The Winds of Change

In the early years leading up to the establishment of the Union of Levantine Socialist Republics, Israel saw an unlikely rise in communist sentiments. The initial underpinnings of this change were first noticed among young, educated Israelis who had grown weary of the never-ending conflict and the rigid conservative norms of their society. The movement was marked by a rise in student-led protests, organized labor strikes, and calls for radical socio-political reforms. The continued reelection of Benyamin Netanyahu and the rise of far-right paramilitaries caused a drastic shift in Israeli society seemingly overnight. Tired of failed promises, a never-ending war, and a stagnating economy in a post pax-americana world, Israelis and Palestinians alike began to mobilize against the existing system.

This new wave of political dissent culminated in the establishment of the Israeli Workers' Party (IWP) in late 2022, led by Shimon Neuman, a human rights advocate, and former academic. Neuman was deeply influenced by Marxist ideology and sought to implement its principles in Israel. He envisioned a society free from occupation and division, and where economic equality was the norm. The IWP rapidly gained popularity, particularly among the youth, progressive academics, and the working class. Recognizing the potential in this new grassroots movement, Hadash and Meretz worked with Shimon Neuman and merged with the new workers party which began to grow at a breakneck speed, causing significant alarm within the established Israeli establishment.

The IWP soon became the de facto leader of the protest movement resulting in increased support for the movement and what it represents. It also made sure to cultivate strong ties with its Palestinian counterparts, much to the dismay of the Hamas and Fatah parties. On both sides of the barrier wall, the chants of “One State with Equal Rights” were heard. Seeing the threat, Netanyahu and much of the radical right agreed that something was to be done to end this movement once and for all. This resulted in an unsuccessful attempt on Neumann’s life using a car bomb, which only served to further galvanize the populace and turn them against the establishment.

The Haifa Incident

In what is now known as the 'Haifa Incident' of early 2023, thousands of Israelis took to the streets demanding an end to the occupation, the resignation of Netanyahu, and the establishment of the binational socialist ideals spread by Neumann. The Haifa Protests were a significant turning point as it brought the movement into the national and global spotlight. Despite attempts by the authorities to suppress the protests, the sheer scale of the mobilization and international attention made it impossible to ignore. The increasing civil unrest put the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in a difficult position. The IDF, traditionally supportive of the status quo, found itself facing mounting pressure from both within and outside the country. Many IDF personnel were moved by the peaceful nature of the protests and the genuine desire for change. A parallel campaign was initiated by Neuman and his allies, targeting the families of IDF members to bring about a shift in the military's stance.

It is at this moment that the Netanyahu Government greenlit Ben Gvir’s proposal to use the newly formed far-right national guard to suppress the protests. While under the watchful eye of the IDF, the militia began attacking the peaceful protestors and began using lethal force to disperse the protests in a last ditch effort to quash the protests and return to status quo. Despite being ordered not to intervene, IDF soldiers broke ranks and began defending the protestors, dispersing the militias and joining them in turn.

IDF members sympathetic to Neumann’s cause used the opportunity to seize control of the Knesset and forced Netanyahu to resign and call for new elections. An election that resulted in a landslide victory for Neumann. While his right wing critics claim that the election was rigged and the left would never win in Israel, Neumann continues to assert that the majority are tired of continued neo-liberal and fascist policies, and wish to make true progress to ensure the survival of the Jewish people and all peoples in Israel.

Soon after his victory, a series of purges occurred at the heart of the establishment, with a series of arrests of those claimed to be “complicit in crimes against the Israeli and Palestinian peoples”. Large swathes of the far-right were arrested in what many dubbed a purge of the opposition, but what was celebrated by many of the protestors and revolutionaries who had recently been shot at, at the orders of these individuals.

The Return of the Diaspora

Amidst the internal unrest, a notable group of Palestinians in diaspora, led by Rashid Bakr, began advocating for their right of return to Israel, lobbying with Neumann who they view as sympathetic to their plight. Their cause, fueled by the global uprise of leftist ideologies and the waning US influence, resonated deeply with the international community. Support from influential global figures and countries, along with pressure from international bodies like the United Nations, led Israel to reconsider its stance on the matter. Palestinian diaspora in Jordan and Lebanon led the charge, calling upon the new government to allow them to return to their ancestral homes. The movement continued to grow and transforming it into the “Audah Movement”, or “Return Movement”.

The Tel Aviv Declaration

In late 2023, the "Tel Aviv Declaration" marked a watershed moment in Israel's history. Under intense pressure, the Israeli government, led then by a weak and divided coalition, agreed to negotiate with the IWP and diaspora leaders. The negotiations resulted in a commitment to end the occupation, allow the return of Palestinian diaspora, and initiate steps towards transforming Israel into a socialist state. It also called for negotiations with the Palestinian Authorities in Gaza and in the West Bank to create a single democratic state with equal rights for all. Having had no constitution, but instead a basic law, new amendments to the law were put in place enshrining Israel as a democratic state for all, equating Jews and Arabs in the eyes of the law, and prohibiting reactionary religious forces from seizing power, thus officially enshrining socialism and secularism.

The new IWP government began a large-scale effort to reorganize the economy, investing funds into nationalizing key sectors of the economy, most notably the arms sector and the banking sector. The IWP’s policy continued to support small and medium sized businesses to grow and flourish in the new state. It also took special care to create a “truth and reconciliation committee”, which serves to remedy historic wrongs by bringing those responsible for war crimes to justice and compensate their victims, allowing for Arabs and Jews to move forward as one.

As Israel underwent its seismic shift towards socialism, the ripples of this movement were keenly felt in the West Bank. For decades, the region had been a hotbed of conflict and unrest, trapped under occupation, and the rule of political organizations like Hamas and Fatah, who had more often than not, been unable to deliver on their promises of liberation and prosperity.

With the winds of change blowing from their western neighbor, a new faction of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) began to rise to prominence. This reformed PFLP, headed by Fatima Khader, a charismatic figure known for her fierce speeches and diplomatic acumen, positioned itself as an organization open to negotiation, compromise, and cooperation with the transforming Israel. While the PFLP had maintained its policy of “Full Land Return”, Fatah continued to press for the two state solution despite offers by Neumann’s administration to provide Palestine with full autonomy in the West Bank and voting rights. Coupled with a new corruption scandal, this lit a powderkeg within the territory which changed it forever.

The Ramallah Uprising

Fatima Khader and the reformed PFLP led what would come to be known as the 'Ramallah Uprising' in early 2023. Thousands of West Bank residents, already inspired by the events unfolding in Israel, joined in large-scale protests against the ruling Fatah party. Their demands echoed those of their Israeli counterparts: an end to corruption, a commitment to communist principles, and a unity pact with the evolving Israeli state to establish one state in all of historic Palestine with full return of refugees.

The Ramallah Uprising, combined with the Israeli Workers' Party's support and international pressure, led to the ousting of the existing Fatah-led government in the West Bank. Fatima Khader and her team, through astute negotiation and a series of peaceful demonstrations, managed to seize power and steer the West Bank towards a more open and inclusive future.

While much of Israel was sympathetic to the demands, numerous settlers living in the territory that seized land were wary of the potential of having those lands be returned to the original holders of the deeds. As such, they began their own countercampaign of fear and reprisals against protestors. However, unlike in the years prior, they received little to no protection from IDF soldiers. This resulted in the Hebron Massacre, where a group of armed settlers began firing at Palestinians protesting against the authority but were met in turn with counterfire as the IDF failed to arrive to protect the settlers. This sent a clear message to the right-wing settlers: The IDF will no longer support their occupation.

News of the Hebron Massacre and IDF inaction spread across the settler communities, resulting in a large-scale exodus of the more extreme groups back to Israel proper or to greener pastures elsewhere. Meanwhile, more peaceful settlers remained glued to their screens with bated breaths as the future of the region would change forever. The Bethleham Accord was announced.

The Bethlehem Accord

In the landmark 'Bethlehem Accord' of mid-2023, the new leadership officially recognized the Israeli government's commitment to end the occupation and support the establishment of a socialist state. In return, the Israeli government recognized the reformed PFLP as the legitimate representative of the West Bank's populace with regional autonomy working towards the transition towards a singular democratic entity. Over the next few months, the reformed PFLP worked closely with the Israeli Workers' Party to build a model for cooperation and integration. This included forming joint committees to oversee the return of the Palestinian diaspora, the dismantling of separation barriers, and the equal distribution of resources. The West Bank saw the establishment of workers' councils, and the implementation of land reform, as it fully embraced the tenets of communism and brotherhood.

Shortly afterwards, Hamas, a long-standing supporter of the one state solution was faced with internal pressure by their own PFLP militias operating within the Gaza Strip >!that were heavily armed by the IWP!<. They were either to agree to enter negotiations or suffer a potential civil war at the hands of their own people. Begrudgingly, they agreed provided that Gaza would be provided with its own autonomy, as such, they too attended and signed the Bethlehem Accords. Nonetheless, the PFLP in Gaza dominated the talks, largely empowered by the IWP and the PFLP in the West Bank.

After disagreements over the name of the united state resulted in conflict, the various parties agreed to cast away historic notions of Israel or Palestine in favour of a single united state in the Levant: The Union of Levantine Socialist Republics (ULSR). In the period following unification, Palestinians gradually began moving back to their ancestral homes in Israel, and Israelis gradually began making their way to other cities within the Levant in search of new opportunities and growing markets. Those that held dual nationality and rejected the idea of a unified state largely decided to leave.

#Jordan: The Transformation of the Hashemite Kingdom

The Stirrings of Change

In the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the unfolding transformations in Israel and the West Bank were watched with keen interest. Home to a large Palestinian diaspora, as well as numerous Iraqi and Syrian refugees, the sentiment towards unity and the establishment of a socialist state was palpable among these groups. The nation had high unemployment, unreliable water resources, and now had lost one of its main allies and sources of foreign aid, the United States.

Led by charismatic leader Omar Nassar, himself a Jordanian of Palestinian descent, these communities began to mobilize, calling for a society that embraced socialist principles and unity with the emerging United Levantine Socialist Republic (ULSR). Their voices were joined by those of the Iraqi and Syrian refugees, whose experiences with war and displacement resonated with the socialist ideals of equality, brotherhood, and peace. The Jordanian people grew wary of the excesses of the monarchy, and the lavish royal weddings while people are starving. As such, popular anger began to manifest itself yet again.

The Amman Spring

By early 2023, this rising socialist movement had captured the imagination of broader Jordanian society. Widespread protests and strikes, collectively referred to as the "Amman Spring," swept across the nation, shaking the monarchy to its core.

Among the forces navigating this turbulent time were Jordan's powerful Bedouin tribes. Traditionally loyal to the monarchy, they found their position challenged by the rising tide of socialism. Recognizing the increasing popularity of the movement, the tribes sought to retain their influence through negotiation. Omar Nassar, understanding the importance of the tribes' support, ensured they were included in the discussions about Jordan's future, creating a framework where their societal influence could be maintained within a socialist structure.

Under the weight of the growing socialist movement and with threats of violence against the state pulling it ever so closer to civil war, the monarchy, led by King Abdullah II, abdicated in late 2023. In his abdication speech, he acknowledged the unstoppable momentum of the socialist wave and pledged his support for a peaceful transition before leaving the country. As a result of his peaceful abdication, the Hashemites were provided with free passage out of the country.

Formation of the Provisional Socialist Government

Post-abdication, a Provisional Socialist Government, led by Omar Nassar, took control. Immediate reforms were enacted, with a focus on equality, wealth redistribution, and nationalization of key industries. The Jordanian state however found itself to be in a vulnerable position. While the Arab Legion continues to be one of the best trained and equipped forces in the middle east, its small numbers would put it in a vulnerable position given continued Turkish and Iranian encroachment from the North, and potential restorationist movements from the South. As such, seeking to maintain its status as a socialist state and preserve the people’s revolution, it began negotiations with the ULSR.

By late 2023, Jordan officially became part of the ULSR. This marked a significant victory for the Levantine Socialist Movement, expanding the socialist republic's regional influence and consolidating the power of the socialist ideology within the Middle East.

#Lebanon: From Sectarian Strife to Socialist Unity

Lebanon's Perfect Storm: The Foundation for Change

In the mid-2020s, Lebanon was facing the convergence of several crises - a debilitating economic recession, a political landscape shaped by sectarian strife, and a refugee crisis that had worsened its existing problems. Its system of confessional politics, which divided political representation among religious communities, had become a major barrier to change. Amid the pervasive discontent, the successes of the United Levantine Socialist Republic (ULSR) in neighbouring countries resonated deeply among the Lebanese populace, laying the foundation for the rise of a new political force.

The Emergence of the Cedar Socialist Movement (CSM)

The Cedar Socialist Movement (CSM) emerged as a powerful vehicle for change in Lebanon. The movement, led by Samer Hanna, a renowned academic and activist, espoused the principles of unity, social justice, and economic reform. The CSM drew its strength from a diverse coalition of workers, students, and intellectuals disillusioned with the existing order.

Emboldened by the CSM's vision and the ULSR's successful model, the Lebanese people took to the streets in a series of mass protests and strikes opposing sectarianism and supporting the idea of class solidarity. This groundswell of public dissent, known as the "Cedar Revolution", posed a formidable challenge to Lebanon's ruling elite. The economic woes and corruption endemic to the system galvanized the protests, which eventually brought major cities like Beirut and Tripoli to a standstill.

One of the most significant challenges that Lebanon's transition to socialism faced was the existence of various sectarian militias. The Maronite Christian, Sunni, and Shia communities, along with other minorities, had armed factions that represented not only their security but also their political power. Samer Hanna recognized the potential of these militias to destabilize the movement and initiated a broad dialogue with their leaders.

Hanna's strategy was to reassure these groups that their interests would be protected in a socialist Lebanon and that the shift towards socialism would bring greater stability, prosperity, and influence on the regional stage. This pragmatic approach, combined with grassroots efforts to promote understanding among different communities, started to defuse sectarian tensions and gained the CSM a measure of acceptance among the militias.

A crucial factor in the transition process was Hezbollah, Lebanon's powerful Shia Islamist political party, and militant group. The CSM's leaders knew that without Hezbollah's cooperation, the road to a united socialist state would be fraught with difficulties. After months of careful negotiations, they were able to secure Hezbollah's conditional support for the movement, emphasizing the increased regional influence, stability, and economic prosperity a united Levantine state could offer.

The Fall of the Confessional System: Towards a Transitional Socialist Government

As the Cedar Revolution gathered momentum, Lebanon's sectarian-based political system became untenable. The government eventually yielded to the demands of the Cedar Revolution, and the confessional system was dissolved. In its place, a Transitional Socialist Government (TSG) was established, with Samer Hanna as its interim leader. The TSG immediately set about implementing social and economic reforms aimed at addressing the deep-seated issues that had fuelled the Cedar Revolution.

With the support of the TSG and the Lebanese people, the CSM proposed the integration of Lebanon into the ULSR. A public referendum was organized in 2023 to decide on this proposal. With an overwhelming endorsement from the populace, Lebanon's integration into the ULSR was confirmed, marking the successful conclusion of its transition from sectarian strife to socialist unity. This significant event symbolized the hope of a more equitable, united future for the region and strengthened the ULSR's position as a major force in the new world order.

To ensure the stability of the new nation, Neumann of the IWP agreed with his PFLP and CSM counterparts to merge into the United Levantine Workers Party (ULWP) and presented ex-Hadash leader Ayman Odeh as a compromise candidate for the first role of chairperson. Following the ascension of Lebanon and Jordan to the union, the ULSR reorganized itself into several regions, with Isratine, the original socialist union between Israel and Palestine coalescing into a singular autonomous region as part of the growing socialist movement ruled by a democratically elected diarchy from the same party, with a Jewish and Arab representative, each with veto powers.

#Union of Levantine Socialist Republics (ULSR): Government, Political System, and Direction

Government and Political System

The ULSR's government system is structured as a democratic socialist federation. At its core, the system revolves around a central federal government and regional governments, ensuring that local voices are heard at the national level while maintaining unity.

Federal Structure

The federal government, seated in Jerusalem, comprises three main branches: the Executive Council, the People's Assembly, and the Supreme Court. Each branch has distinct roles and responsibilities, ensuring a balance of power and a system of checks and balances.

  1. Executive Council: The Executive Council is the highest executive body in the ULSR, functioning as a collective presidency with a rotating chairperson. It is composed of representatives from each of the federating regions (Israel, West Bank, Jordan, and Lebanon), ensuring regional representation. Key ministries such as Foreign Affairs, Defence, Economy, and Social Affairs also have seats on the council. The current chairperson is Ayman Odeh.

  2. People's Assembly: The People's Assembly serves as the ULSR's legislative body. It is a bicameral legislature, with an upper house called the Senate (representing the federating regions) and a lower house known as the Chamber of Deputies (representing the population at large). The representation in both houses is based on a mixture of direct election and proportional representation, ensuring broad representation of political and social groups.

  3. Supreme Court: The Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority in the ULSR, tasked with maintaining the constitution's integrity and resolving legal disputes between different levels of government.

Regional Structure

Each federating region has a regional council and regional premier. These regional bodies are responsible for local governance and administration, implementing policies in education, healthcare, and local infrastructure. They also play a crucial role in the federal system by electing representatives to the Executive Council and the People's Assembly. Following extensive negotiations, the following regions have been defined:

  • Isratine

  • Lebanon

  • Jordan

Federal Political Parties

While the ULSR's political landscape is predominantly socialist, various parties represent different shades of socialism, reflecting the diversity within the broader socialist movement. Key parties include:

  1. United Levantine Workers' Party (ULWP): Led by Ayman Odeh, the ULWP is a democratic socialist party. It champions workers' rights, social justice, and participatory democracy.

  2. Levantine Unity Party (LUP): The LUP, under Yael Cohen, leans more towards communal socialism. It emphasizes community ownership and control over resources.

  3. People's Progressive Party (PPP): The PPP is a social democratic party led by Omar Al-Abdullah. It advocates for a strong welfare state and robust civil liberties.

Geopolitics and Foreign Relations

The ULSR exists in a neighborhood dominated by large power blocs. To its south is a united Arabian Peninsula, to the east is an Iran-controlled Iraq, while a Turkey-dominated Syria lies to the north. Its foreign policy is largely pragmatic and cooperative, focusing on fostering peaceful and constructive relations with these neighbors. Having secured a one state solution and largely resolved the Palestinian issue, neighbouring states would have little reason for hostility against the ULSR which will likely seek closer ties with their neighbours.

Much like Israel’s previous policy towards the United States and China, the nation will strike a delicate balance between east and west and maintain its close defensive ties with longstanding partners provided that they in turn continue to support the ULSR. That said, the ULSR has largely committed itself to pacifism to grow the socialist project domestically such that it may be a symbol of a successful state led by the people. The ULSR shall play an active role in international organizations, advocating for global disarmament, climate change mitigation, and the rights of marginalized and oppressed peoples. The United Levantine Socialist Republic, with its unique political system and socialist orientation, has emerged as a beacon of unity, prosperity, and socialist principles in a region marred by historic divisions and conflicts. With strong leadership and a clear vision for the future, it stands poised to play a significant role in the new world order.

Military Reorganization

As a result of the union, the IDF, Arab Legion, and Lebanese Armed forces were officially combined into a singular fighting force, with gradual integration at the unit level planned to ensure full operational integrity and inclusion at all levels. Military service was instated across all populations, and a large-scale overhaul of the establishment was put into place, rooting out potential disloyal members. As the smoke cleared, The Levantine People’s Armed Forces emerged as a modern cohesive fighting force made up of Jews and Arabs alike. While largely built upon the backbone of the IDF, the new organization will begin training a larger corps to integrate the other constituent states in a rational manner.

#Summary of Claim to Date

TLDR of history: The ULSR spent the past 10 years since unification building itself up as a high-tech workers paradise and consolidating the Union of Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon. It has most recently allied the neighbouring communist state of the FPU in North Africa following its defeat in the Horn of Africa, effectively harmonizing five year plans and development in the sleeping North African giant as the two prepare for closer ties and to push for the global communist project.
