/r/wordlists
A place to discuss word lists of different types for different reasons, be it passphrase generation, crossword puzzle solving, linguistic study, information theory, and other reasons.
An useful subreddit to share or request word lists. This is a subreddit to discuss only vocabulary, don't make questions about grammar or any other language issue. It's also not a sub for requesting translations.
When posting:
Set between brackets the language in which you want to share a word list. e.g. [Japanese]
In case you prefer word lists in which English is not included, show it this way e.g. [Portuguese -> Russian].
In case you want multilingual word lists set first the main language and, after the arrow the target languages e.g. [Spanish -> Catalan, Galician, Aragonese, Asturian]
If you want to create a multilingual thread, set it this way [Multilingual] e.g. "[Multilingual] How do you say "frog"?" and then users can submit the word they use for "frog" in their own language
You can ask for an specific word (e.g. [Japanese] Resilient), a theme (e.g. [Italian->French] Il corpo umano ; [Multilingual] Prepositions) or a fixed word list (e.g. [Lojban-> English] Could you translate these words into English?)
You can also share your already created word lists (e.g. [Levantine Arabic] +250 basic verbs)
Word lists about idioms, colloquialisms, synonyms, antonyms , rhyming words, derived words... are allowed. You can also request just definitions.
You can also request or post about software or site webs or resources intended for creating word lists. Or maybe, you'd like to discuss tips to study vocabulary or mnemonic techniques. In all these cases is not necessary to use any bracket.
When commenting:
Indicate the target words in bold letters (using two asterisks at either side of the word), but only if you are certain that is the accurate translation.
If you notice any mistake, please let it know.
Try not to duplicate translations.
If you wish, you can make examples of its use or any other thing you'd like to comment about the word/s.

is there any software like John the Ripper that is able to perform an attack over what is thought to be a passphrase?
as you know the password may contain a passphrase, you want to attack words, obviously, but it doesn't stop there. you may want to change letters from numbers like "rabbit" -> "r4bb1t" "rabb1t", etc.
and also obviously the word list including famous people, words' modifications, etc
For example ash instead of ass, fork or funk or truck instead of fuck ect
For example, given a keyboard layout like:
qwertyuiop
asdfghjkl
zxcvbnm
"wax" costs 7 clicks (1 per letter, plus 4 to navigate from the w to the a to the x), whereas "lap" costs 21 clicks.
On a keyboard layout that's just all the letters in one row alphabetically (abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
), the costs change: "wax" costs 48 clicks while "lap" only costs 29.
Not sure if it's really useful, but thought it was an interesting exercise to show how very specific word lists can aid users facing specific, context-dependent limitations.
Thought this might fit with this subbreddit.
I've been working on a command-line tool that can perform various operations on word lists.
By default it de-duplicates, trims white-space, and sorts alphabetically. Optionally, it can:
I'm calling it Tidy.
Would love to know if I'm missing any useful features! (Or if anything is not working as promised.) What are some common operations you perform on word lists not listed above? How can I make it more useful for work on non-English words?
Hello someone would have a valid blockchain.info 2012 wordlist because i want to test a program.
Alright so I need your help to create a wordlist of possible Mac Addresses that Starts with 4c17eb and EDNS 0a75
and the 2 Middle Character is going to be from AA-BB-CC-DD-EE-FF... ETC
So lets say 4c17ebff0a75. what options in crunch help me achieve this. or if there is a better tool to use for this type of wordlist. thank you in advance
Found this on some website if someone can explain it a little bit more
"Used Crunch to generate the last 6 numbers with 4 of them known as in:
@@4428
%%4428
@%4428
%24428
@=lowercase letters
%=numbers
The passwords are in lowercase.
Then used Hashcat Combination Attack. One wordlist on the left with all the macs running up against a wordlist that was crunched looking for those 2 missing letters\numbers.
Instant hit. GG WP. EZ when you know that "secret" ;)"
Hey, this link I've uploaded a mini Grammar list. This is in no way exhaustive or extensive (it's only 64 entries and about 4 of them dont have an answer card..sorry). I made this for myself, to review some parts of German grammar I was having problems with. I dont know how useful it is but I'm uploading it anyway.

Hey if anyone has a curated essential verbs (as verbs you've caught in the wild via literature or some sort of reading) or list with imperfective and perfective verbs denoted. Also preferably with example sentences. Do you mind passing it on. Thanks.
