I was in there yesterday and took a look. Prices are pretty cheap, but at this point it's mostly women and children's gear left although there's still some stuff for guys. Few if any men's jerseys, though.
This website has a good overview although I noticed some stuff in the store that wasn't on this site: https://www.ywgicegear.ca/s/shop
And yeah, I did buy a couple ICE mementos while I was there.
Reality has finally set in, the team is gone. I will miss them very much. I went to a bunch of games in 2019-20, became a huge fan, and then had season tickets after that and I seldom missed a game.
There were so many good times. Some of the best memories include the last game before the pandemic when the ICE beat the division leading PA Raiders in a statement game, Zach Benson's emergence in the Regina pandemic bubble, finally seeing the ICE in the playoffs in 2022 and their awesome run to the conference finals that season, then seeing them go all the way to the league final this past season. The last great ICE memory was seeing Zach Benson get drafted as a member of the Winnipeg ICE.
It was amazing having this unreal team playing out of a small, nondescript arena on the U of M campus. I loved every minute of it. It was a great bonding experience with my kid, we'd watch warmups every game. He had some chances to be on the ice with his favourite players too, at ICE camp and the various skills sessions the team presented, and he got to carry out the flag during a game vs. the Pats. It was time together that we'll never forget. And being that this is Winnipeg and we all love a great deal, I don't think any team could match the bang for the buck the ICE offered when it came to tickets. They were dirt cheap relative to the quality of entertainment.
The ICE were not in Winnipeg for a long time, but man, it sure was a good time.
It’s the end of a far too brief era.
With Milne and McClennon being the obvious choice as the overagers coming back, who will the ICE pick between the two? Pretty sad to see Alexander leave but I’m more than confident in Hauser’s abilities in being the ICE’s full time starter. I’m also super thrilled to see Cowan as our backup since he put up a shutout in his WHL debut! Brown and Wheatcroft were bound to leave since they were short term rental players for the playoffs but I’m glad we at least got a return for both of them! With Pederson attending the Nashville Predators development camp and Zloty attending the Seattle Kraken development camp, I’d say they’re both equally as good but it’s all about team needs at this point. I’d say personally we would need to keep Zloty although I love Pederson, I feel like we’ll be stacked up front and a bit less stacked out back. Let me know what you guys think!
Hello! I seem to be the only active mod left for this subreddit. While I'm able to clear the mod queue myself just fine, I have to admit I don't follow the team haha. So I'm wondering if anyone is interested in coming on board to spruce to the place up a bit.
DM me to apply.
It looks like only single tickets are available for this Saturday's game. If I buy two singles will my guest and I be able to sit together?
Update: it was no problem sitting together even though we got the last couple of single tickets available. What a game!
Looking forward to the day a new arena is announced. Its been a few years and to be honest I thought it would have been announced by now. With the team dominating in the WHL I can only imagine how many fans would be interested in seeing the team if they were playing in a quality junior arena in a convenient location. The Ice Cave was okay for one season, but really it's time for a new building.
