This was a very famous Chanel Commercial filmed in 1979, I vaguely remember being on a cruise, and at one of our destinations, the tour guide said this was the swimming pool used in this commercial. I think it was a hotel in Barbados?
Do you recognize this manhole cover or the mismatched sidewalk?
been searching for over an hour now and i need your help :)
My grandfather worked on a ranch most likely in California after coming from Hong Kong. This is the only picture he had of it and it’s dated 1940 on the back, he passed before I was born and never talked about his time there. I’m thinking maybe Salinas?
I would imagine it’s somewhere mediterranean Can’t offer much but can offer £10 ( through PayPal ) to the first person that correctly finds the location!
Other details to note: it’s apparently close to a mountainous region
Bit of a shot in the dark, but seeing the amazing detective work on this sub, thought I'd give it a shot.
This is my grandfather. We think this was taken around April 1945. He was in British Army Intelligence during WWII. We know that he was part of a joint British-US intelligence mission in the weeks/months after VE day called TICOM, visiting important sites in Berlin and elsewhere to hoover up info. We have other photos taken by him around the same time of war-torn Cologne Cathedral.
Any guesses as to where this might have been taken?
I suspect this is (Perhaps Bund Oberland, and a former member of the Marinebrigade Ehrhardt) during the Hitler-Putsch in a more rural area, perhaps Rosenheim.
This photograph was inside a box of playing cards that I bought from a charity shop in Somerset, UK. I’m fascinated by its history - it looks maybe like a wedding? 1950’s? But no idea. Any thoughts on location?
I don't remember it being taken as too young. It looks like I'm looking at the person taking the photo. There's a stone wall I'm leaning against but beyond the (field?) I'm not sure what's over in the distance.
This may have been taken in Halifax, Leeds, or even Manchester. I'm not sure, and I have no one alive to ask. However that peak in the background looks a little like the golden cap in Lyme Regis. But I'm 100% sure its not that at all. I'm wondering if there's something like that instead in Halifax, Leeds or Manchester that might help identify where this was taken.
Appreciate your help.
This is an old photo of my grandmother (with her face covered for privacy). I'm pretty sure she would've been living in Europe at the time, though she moved a lot in her youth so anywhere but Asia is a possibility. I think it may be the UK, but she can't remember at all and we don't have any other photos of this location that may help. I'd appreciate any ideas!
I’ve tried this one before but had little traction. My grandfather was deployed around Italy and Greece in WW2. My father would dearly love to know where this photo was taken. Does anyone recognise the location or can anyone offer any clues?
