When posting please include geographic location and, if, applicable, a photo of the underside of the mushroom. Try to refer to this when trying to find a mushroom's ID.
Please do not assume the ID of the species if you are not sure. The goal of the subreddit is to be accurate and helpful.
One more thing!
We do not encourage any visitor to consume any mushroom or fungus found. Mushrooms can be very dangerous and in many cases fatal if eaten. Be careful!

ID needed in Canada.
Photo taken mid September on the north shore of Lake Superior, in a marshland bordering a river. There were a number of trees with this, always on the underside of horizontal branches.
They appeared too damp to be lichin, but I'm no mycologist, so I could easily be wrong.
