Ponder the vast potentials of plausible possibilities!
What if we considered the realistic impact of alternate possibilities?
Obligatory 'read rules before posting/commenting!'

Sry if this is a shitpost, but I really wanna know
when you travel back in time you end up in a position relative to where the galaxy was at that time not where the planet was because the universe's expansion rate and direction are different than the galactic rotation.
This is based off my simulation phobias. In this we are digital constructs in a digital environment. Challenges are introduced to our environment and we resolve those. Our end users use that information to resolve problems in their own environment.
Would this change anything for you?
I think we would turn on each other in a hurry Ala GTA. Wouldn't change a thing for me. 🤷♂️
In this alternate timeline, George Lucas releases the Star Wars prequel trilogy of films (The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, and Revenge Of The Sith) in the late 70's and early 80's (Phantom Menace being released in 1977 instead of A New Hope, Attack Of The Clones being released in 1980 instead of The Empire Strikes Back, and Revenge Of The Sith being released in 1983 instead of Return Of The Jedi), while the Original Trilogy of films are released in the late 90's and early 2000's (A New Hope being released in 1999 instead of Phantom Menace, The Empire Strikes Back being released in 2002 instead of Attack Of The Clones, and Return Of The Jedi being released in 2005 instead of Revenge Of The Sith).
How do the film releases of the Star Wars original and prequel trilogies swapping places affect the Star Wars franchise? How it affect the history of movies? Would Star Wars still be a household name? Which actors/actresses would play certain characters because of this change?
The founding fathers of America believed in The Marketplace of Ideas. Not just that anyone could say anything they wanted. But that it was a competition. Bad ideas had to be responded to with good ideas or else it wouldn't be a marketplace: it would just be bad ideas
The past decade has made it very clear that a lot of people have a lot of bad ideas. And they get sad when others call them bad ideas. And decent human beings go "Hey, we didn't want to hurt your feelings. We just think its pretty gross to vote for someone who tells people 'I don't even wait,... I grab em by the pussy'"
And they say "Hey stop insulting us by telling us what we're doing"
But let's take a look at Roe v Wade. People going around saying "They will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month and even after birth". And when everyone was just allowed to believe whatever they wanted, we didn't tell them that nobody has ever had an abortion after birth.
People who couldn't be bothered to look up a basic summary of Roe v Wade thought it was legal ever to have an abortion when a child was viable.
It was never legal.
But we just let people believe whatever they wanted because the saddest snowflakes couldn't handle being told that what they believed wasn't remotely true. And so liars went on a spree telling people anything they could come up with. The marketplace got flooded with bad ideas and too few people with good ideas pushed back. And now here we are
Now don't get me wrong. It is definitely the fault of ignorant, self indulgent, irresponsible people who cannot be bothered to do a bare minimum of critical thinking before spreading things like "they're eating the pets". But if The Marketplace of Ideas is supposed to work on its own, we have to have some responsibility for making sure that when someone says something blatantly false, that the rest of us makes sure that everyone knows it. Not only is the idea wrong, but that upholding the bad idea is a sign that that person upholds bad ideas
There has to be a way to restore reputation as a consequence to absurdly prolific ignorance in this world...
Would you encourage that or otherwise support the decision to do so? If so, could you explain your reasoning and how that jives with your belief in “saving democracy”, as her supporters often bring as a key motivator in this election.
I really like her as a human. As a politician. As a Vet. I just like her all around. I hope she gains traction and runs for president again. But until then, how could she have shaped this election?? If Trump dies 30 days in, she gets to be President. Thoughts??
Where would humanity be? Society? What would we play at weddings? National anthems?
What if you were suddenly teleported 500 years into the past, armed only with a device containing the entirety of Wikipedia and a handy solar-powered charger? How would you navigate this new world, and what impact would your knowledge have on history?
Then this nightmare decade will finally actually be over
Or, we could have 4 more years of deliberately saying outrageous shit just to get Americans to fight each other
I'm aware I'm stretching the term realistic... and short. I just thought it'd be a fun writing exercise. Feel free to rip it to shreds or guess what happens next.
Election night, Harris wins the blue wall and NV/NC. It's a landslide victory win in the rust belt states but close in the sun belt especially NV and GA where both victories are slim. Obviously a Harris victory but just as obviously no one on the far right would ever be convinced.
Early January rolls around and Trump pulls all the stops. Lawsuits are just to keep up appearances. Before the November/December certifications multiple states are attacked by armed militia groups. In NC, Raleigh is completely overrun and electors are forced to overturn the election at gunpoint. Penn and WI get off easy with just riots in their capital cities. The WI militia group chickens out while the one in Penn is beaten back by security and local police. However MI and NV have their governers, representatives and senators kidnapped at gunpoint with fake members sent by militia groups in their place.
Despite all the chaos Mike Johnson moves forward. So without NV, MI or NC present Republicans quickly call the election for Trump while Democrats call BS. This gets the Supreme Court involved who embarrassingly quickly 5-4 the decision and give the election to Trump. Republicans happily declare victory, calling the entire event the righting of a wrong, while various citizen Republicans, even those who voted for Trump, switch parties.
Meanwhile in NC, NV and MI The National Guard is still at war with radical groups who say they'll only return politicians once Trump is sworn in. NC is the first to end their nightmare after their militia leader is killed in a disagreement leading to a messy surrender but all the other states are in it for the long haul.
DC is quickly put on ice as both right and left wing citizens clash in major cities. Let's also say another important figure, an outspoken blue senator, is shot perhaps dies while speaking to the press. Multiple politicians retreat home leaving DC to burn.
That becomes the final straw. The very next day Biden declares martial law over the country. Intelligence and police arrest Trump, Vance and some of their associates. The military clears out DC by non-lethal force and Biden orders national politicians to return or face imprisonment. Various southern/plains politicians disobey so Biden makes good on his promise and has the military arrest them. In FL DeSantis threatens his politicians with The National Guard to keep them from leaving so Biden has him arrested causing other governers debating similar actions to back down.
Meanwhile various right wing militia leaders are killed by snipers or in raids throwing the hostage situations into chaos as they're now led by those who didn't help plan the attack. In NV a senator is executed causing The Army to raid the Capitol. Some politicians are freed but sadly not all.
Interstate rail and air travel are closed. All the states under attack are closed off. A small plane carrying militia members from FL to MI is shot down over Lake Erie by a fighter jet and multiple militia members from AZ are killed in a stand off with CA National Guard while trying to drive to Carson City.
Biden orders a do over on the certification. This time with electors sent by the missing swing states. The election is certified but The Supreme Court blocks the order leaving Biden no choice but to arrest the judges. All of these politicians and judges being arrested leaves remaining Maga Republicans screaming impeachment but Biden declares immunity and The Senate, Republicans included, back him up. Over 3 long days The House comes mere moments from being dissolved before Speaker Johnson agrees to let the recertification go, barely keeping himself out of jail but he'll probably never be able to return to Louisiana again.
Finally the last of the militia groups surrender except in Michigan where that particular group in Lansing executes their hostages and go out in a firefight with The Army. Biden's DOJ quickly run trumped up charges and sham trials to put Trump and various militia members away quickly, again claiming immunity when challenged. In a final middle finger to The Constitution and rule of law Vance is killed in a firefight when yet another militia group tries to free him.
Finally Harris is sworn into office and Biden releases his grip on the country. The states that were attacked are turned over to their governers and the country goes back to "normal" with one interesting exception. Harris and many other democrats were not okay with Biden's decisions, some only upset he took so long to do it, and there's discussion of having him arrested in the hopes a new Supreme Court, created by Congress and still 5-4, will overturn the immunity ruling. Biden doesn't respond seemingly willing to take that bullet too. When asked if Biden will be pardoned Harris doesn't hesitate to say "no."
In October the 2025 holiday season begins with the country battered but not broken. Trump demands a new trial with The Supreme Court. Various Maga Republicans retire while others continue to spread the lie that this was somehow a democrat plot. Around 1000 people are dead directly from the attacks or riots with 150-200 being ordinary citizens caught up in the affair.

Essentially, everyone in the country can vote, regardless of male, female, gay, straight, legal, illegal, whatever, who cares. The only stipulation is that you have to sign up for the draft.
Just like a commercial break when cable TV was around, maybe there’s a timer in the corner to give you room for a leak or some snacks.
Given how unpopular Elon Musk and Donald Trump are, how would the media and public broadly react to, and discuss, Elon Musk’s Space X landing a crew on Mars during a Donald Trump presidency?
What would happen to crime? Would we see criminals appear in masks with black spray paint? How can we prevent such tactics? I think this would be a pretty incredible way to prevent a wide variety of crimes. Also I think a cool idea would be to have the door cam bark like a pitbull when people approach.
edit: my thought is what if ALL dwellings had a camera controlled only by the owner. This is not a big brother type of idea.
My sister just got a promotion she's been after for years and the first thing she says is how she's looking at the next position up. My cousin is always at the gym, best shape of his life but his arms are never big enough, his cardio is never as good as he wants it to be. My mom is constantly having my dad renovate different stuff in the house but always seems to find another thing she's unhappy with. I'm epileptic, been living with a shattered shoulder for over 5 years but can't get a replacement cause my seizures aren't under control but I seem happier than all of em cause I pick out "golden nuggets in the crap that's life."
Take a person in a room full of elegant chandeliers, beautiful lamps, crazy holograms, and give em a flashlight that never runs out of battery. How are they gonna respond? "Oh... That's cool..." Take a person trapped in a pitch black maze and give them the same flashlight and how are they gonna respond?
Edit: Per the comments, I will amend this by saying I think the key to happiness is absolute acceptance and appreciation. I suppose it's not impossible for the person in my hypothetical light room to truly appreciate the flashlight, though from personal experience, I've found suffering forces you to change your mindset to appreciate the little things.
It would essentially be a numbers game, everyone that comes to your door/every door you go to everyone hands cash money based off a percentage of income. Rich balance out the poor and poor get a little richer.
The problem would be you would need to knock on thousands of doors to create enough of a trend in the equation to make it possible .

Obviously the presidential election is upon us, but all the other races statewide are here too. Would some ethics refresher courses help in this day and age?
