Bailey’s first Halloween! 🎃
He's 14 and still in good health. He's been with me through thick and thin.
Hello everyone. I noticed the little dots above her eye and I was wondering what is it ? She doesn't have it in the other one.
trigger warning - gross topic My 1.5 YO male has a bloody discharge - with pus - from the penis sheath. He's not experiencing any pain and he's behaving normally He was leaving stains on my couch, bed, and other fabrics. I took him to an urgent care vet. The UA turned up nothing. The vet did not provide a diagnosis, but she did say it might be an infection in the penis sheath. She didn't say that she's seen similar symptoms in other dogs. I can't believe my dog is the only dog with this condition. Has this happened to your dog?
the vet prescribed gabapentin for pain and antibiotics. I'm going to take him to his regular vet when I get home tomorrow
I posted about this beautiful girl the other day asking for medical advise, (stuff that's common with Westies.) Thank you to everyone who posted! But unfortunately it's not the best news, she's happy and playing with her brother still and enjoying life but the Vets have told us she's 15 nearly 16 and most likely has cancer. But we won't test for it as would need anesthesia (which could kill her) to confirm a diagnosis and even if it was confirmed the vet said they wouldn't treat it. She has severe arthritis and have started her on Librela injections to make her as comfortable as possible as she can't have any other painkillers as they would make her feel worse. We don't have a prognosis but we know it's almost her time.
I am so grateful that she has got to love a full life but I'm heartbroken to see her like this knowing her time on this earth is coming to a close. She's going on holiday to the Peak District next week so hopefully all the wonderful new sights and smells is a good memory for her. (She will be mostly in a dog sling/carry bag!)
Sorry this was depressing. But she is a wonderful character and a testament to Westies! And also thank you for everyone sharing their stories the other day with me I really did appreciate it and helped us know what exactly to ask the vet. (I have removed that post.)

A bit of a silly question BUT I'll be starting my search for a little Westie girl (Peggy) once my Iggy turns 2. I was doing some pet shopping today and saw some fun Harry Potter jumpers in Pets at home. I dont want to risk them no longer being there this time next year and would like to pick up 1 of each and keep them back for her but I'm not sure on the size beyond the general height and weight stats.
I know their will be some variation from girl to girl but I cant imagine it would be by much if anyone could share their girls measurements with me I would be very greatful 🙏🏻
He was 13 when he had to put him down. Was best for him. Still miss him to this day. 🫶🏻
Our almost 10-month old westie Tweed has never loved his crate. When we first got him at 5 months he definitely didn't like it. But overtime with treats and toys, we got him to a place where he will go in if we ask him to although he's not pleased about it. I'd say he's "fine" with it. It's more like he just tolerates being in the crate rather than actually enjoys it.
And unfortunately, we can't just let him roam around the apartment unwatched yet while my husband and I work from home because he still can't be trusted to not get into trouble. And he's still not fully house trained. We're getting there but the day just hasn't arrived yet.
When we are able to watch him during his crate breaks and we're playing with him, we always leave the crate doors open in case he wants to go in and chill out but he never does. If he ever goes in voluntarily, it's only to get the toys that are in there and then he just brings them out to chew and play with them on the floor somewhere else in the living room.
Is it a huge problem if they never LOVE their crate? Is there anything more we can do?

Hi everyone!
I'm both excited and nervous to bring home 12 week old westie in a month's time. We currently have 3 cats at home and I have setup a dog crate, toys and bedding in a guest bedroom for the transition period. I have been researching and reading a lot on how to transition a puppy into a multi cat household and was wondering if anyone in this group has any more tips/personal experience on transitioning a westie pup into a cat household!
I would love to have the crate setup in my living room just so pup won't be in a room all by herself but I just don't know how my cats would react in the first week especially when I'm not home.
Also I can only work from home on Thursdays and Fridays so does my partner so I'm nervous about leaving pup alone on Mondays-Wednesdays. Would westie pup be fine alone for about 8 hours a day?
I grew up with dogs however this is my very first pup after I've moved out of my family home 11 years ago.
Any pointers are much appreciated!!
Hello guys,
My fiancé and I just put a deposit down on a male Westie that will be coming to our home at the end of November. We would love any kind of tips for this breed and information you guys have.
I’ve had mostly hounds my whole life so it’s a little out of my comfort zone in regards to dogs but after a lot of research Westies fit our current lifestyle best.
