Hey all! I am in search of a kickball league in or around West Allis for this summer. Ideally would be not be super competitive, just a way to meet people/socialize/drink. Would also prefer a bar league situation, not through the rec department. I know that once upon a time Maggoo's (now Fourth and Long) had a team, so something along those lines would be great, oh also co-ed. Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Seems like the answer is yes, but I have no idea. I have 1000000 boxes to get rid of and my recycle is already full.
According to the West Allis Community Development Authority, Tracy Cross & Associates, Inc. has performed a Housing Market Study that should be available to the public soon. A brief overview is that the West Allis, Greenfield, and Greendale communities have not seen a whole lot of recent multifamily housing development activity in comparison to neighboring Milwaukee County communities. The thought is that they can collectively absorb developments of ~2,000 units over the next five years. A lack of multifamily housing development has put a ton of pressure on the single-family, for sale market. Homes are appreciating in value and are flying off the market very quickly. A good problem to have, but it does illustrate the need for an increase in housing stock.
I am very interested in reading the study and comparing it to the real estate analysis section of the Highway 100 Corridor Study completed a little more than a year ago. I am a big fan of New Urbanism developments as they contain shopping, light industry, and residences -- usually houses, rowhouses, and apartments -- all within a relatively close proximity to the city (or neighborhood) center.
Good luck to West Allis Nathan Hale Senior Joshua Truchon in the upcoming WIAA State Cross Country Championship! The race will be held this upcoming Saturday (October 31st, 2020) morning at 10:10am at Arrowhead High School. Joshua Truchon ran a 15:47.6 at the Brookfield Central sectional in order to qualify for the state championship. He placed 4th last season, and is looking to win this season.
The citizens of West Allis are behind you every step of the way, Joshua! Good luck!
I’m trying to find some yearbooks from west allis central between roughly 2004-2007 or somewhere around there. I tried the library but they didn’t have the years I was looking for.
Any suggestions?
Not looking to purchase, just trying to take a walk down memory lane of sorts.
Are there specific locations based off of my zip 53227? Or can I drop it off at any box in Milwaukee County?
West Allis might be home to another brewery! 414 Brewing Co. hopes to open a brewery at 6749-6751 W. National Ave. This will be our city's third brewery after Westallion Brewing Company and Layman Brewing. However, before 414 Brewing Co. can move into the city of West Allis, the sale of the property must be approved by the Community Development Authority tomorrow at 8pm.
Pumpkin Spice Cream Puffs will be offered Thursday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 4. at State Fair Park! They are available curbside after ordering online at www.WiStateFair.com.
West Allis fall yard waste collection begins on September 27th and will continue through the week of November 15th! If you would like more information in regards to this, please visit the link below.
Just received my ballot in the mail! Planning to drop it off at City Hall ahead of time so I can work the polls on election day. West Allis couldn't have made it easier - they even send a guide walking you through filling out your absentee ballot so your vote doesn't get thrown out on a technicality. Please get involved to whatever extent you are able - every voice matters!

"The city of West Allis has unleashed a new law that requires all dogs to be on a leash while in parks and other public places.
District 2 Alderman Tracy Stefanski said the change was spurred by a phone call from a constituent and two dog bite incidents that involved unleashed dogs near Rogers Park, which is in his district.
The new rule requires dogs to be leashed 'on a street, sidewalk, or alley, school grounds, a public park or other public grounds,' according to the ordinance. A leash will also be required when on private property without the permission of the owner.
The city’s common council passed it unanimously Sept. 1."
I'm excited about the presidential election, but I've noticed in my neighborhood nobody has put up their preferred candidate (whereas in my mom's neighborhood in Brookfield they're all over). The one house that had them on my block no longer does, only signs for a local candidate.
My question is should I follow suit and hold off until/unless other people do? I feel like while I'm enthusiastic about my preferred candidate, it could be needlessly divisive in an era/part of the state that's already incredibly divided. What do you guys think?
Working from home is becoming more and more common nowadays, but there are still those that enjoy going to the office on somewhat regular basis in order to stay focused on their work. MKE CoWork, 7311 W. Greenfield Ave, offers affordable office space for those looking to escape the isolation of a home office or a coffee shop. Welcome to the West Allis community!
"All memberships include fiber internet, furniture use, coffee, and 24/7 access.
A membership for the building's shared workspaces, with access to 'phone booths' or 'nooks' to step into for private phone calls, costs $200 per month.
The space has about 10 'dedicated desks,' separated from the building's common areas. Each desk is rented out to one individual, so they can leave their things, from monitors to family photos, on it. That option costs $400 per month.
The space's three private offices are each conducive to two or three people, and cost $1,000 per month.
Team rooms, which cost $1,600 per month, are designed for four or five people. The building has two."
Fun Fact of the Day: After a successful rebranding effort, an increase in the number of unique, locally-owned businesses, and a rise in affordable housing stock, the City of West Allis saw the sixth largest population increase of any municipality in the state last year and the largest in southeastern Wisconsin.
I am so proud to live in and be a part of a city that is on the up-and-up! Let's keep this trend alive!
Hello! I’m moving to West Allis in a few days and in early June will need to have my uhaul unloaded.
Anyone have a particularly great experience with local moving companies? Or know of ones I should avoid?
Thanks!
Why do "dudes" openly buy and sell drugs around Liberty Heights Park and get away with it? I drove down the street and saw some pretty suspicious activity without even trying. Cant imagine the police have no idea what's going on and the people living across the street are okay with this shit.
What are you all doing for your hair with the barber shops all shut down?
I was asked to pass this along to anyone with kids so I figured I'd share it here.
Fellow residents, please try to bag/tie trash bags before loading them in your cart/can. Recycling should be placed loose in the cart with NO plastic bags. If you can, please flatten/bundle your excess cardboard that doesn't fit in the cart.
It has been reported that the virus can live on cardboard/plastic for around 3 days.
The workers truly are doing their best to collect your items, but with this virus going around they are put at risk with household items. Loose trash (tissues, diapers, etc) in the cart/can puts them at high risk. Picking up stuff outside the carts/cans does the same.
I would hate to see weekly collection cease because of the increasing hazard.
Thank you, be safe all.
