Hey I have some wax stuck in my stamp and its that old school rosin or whatever makes it crunchy type wax. Tried the boiling water trick and it didnt work. How do I get it out?
Hi all!!
So my friends and family have been telling me for months I should open my own etsy shop and sell the seals I make. And while that sounds great in theory, the thing that's stopping me is the question of how to correctly price the product.
Some of the seals I make are not that complicated, only 2-3 colors max and not a whole lot of cutting/layering involved. So they don't take as long. Buy some are super detailed and complicated and take up to 5 hrs to make sometimes... I really don't wanna spend hours and hours on a seal, only for it to sell for chump change at the end of the day, but I also realize no one will probably pay $30-40 bucks for a single seal, no matter how pretty/complex it is.
Etsy doesn't really have a lot of layered seals, I literally found maybe one seller who sells some very simple 2 color seals. Plain single color seals sell anywhere from $1.50-$2 a pop.
So question I have for y'all: if I were to sell simpler layered multi color seals in like a set of 6-8 random seals, how much, theoretically, would you be willing to spend if you were looking to buy them? You can check posts in my profile to see some examples of my work.
Also, if anyone has experience selling on Etsy, any advice is welcome!!
Thanks in advance!
I'm a newbie and feel that metallic colors melt way slower and are more thicker than usual colors...or is it the quality of the wax?
This seems like such a silly question, but I can’t figure out a good way to keep my seals in place to color them. Holding them is messy because my hands aren’t steady and trying to hold them down with a fingertip isn’t a great option, either. How do you guys do it?
I am looking to get a gift for someone. They have a decent amount of stamping stuff, but would love more. Can you please provide suggestions on places to get good quality products? Is there any products /accessories/wax that would make good gifts? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I have a niece who just got engaged. Would a wax sealing set be a good gift? Should I get her initial and her fiance's initial on the seal? First name or last?
I just got a new glue gun and am tackling a non-wax seal project. But I lave a lot of scrap/leftover glue and I'm wondering if I need to toss it or if I can heat it up in a spoon to reuse elsewhere.
Hi everyone, my girlfriend has some pen pals and she'd like to try some wax sealing.
She said she won't buy anything herself cause she said she has already too many hobbies but I know that she would love that.
I'd like to give her a starter kit for Christmas, any suggestions? To be honest I came straight here and made a post looking for recommendations, I didn't looked up online for anything.
I live in Italy and my budget is about 50€ (so if there's US shop I've to consider currency change, vat and customs duties).
Tysm everyone!
Honestly, I knew I’d love this hobby, but I love this hobby so much that I want to stamp envelopes that have nothing in them 😂
Anyways, any tips for a beginner? Any products I’d need/find useful other than sealing wax, a stamp, candles, fire, and a melting spoon? Would appreciate the help
Also I found that when I try to open a letter I’ve found that some of the paper comes off with it and then I can’t seal it again properly :(,,, I’m sure using better quality envelopes would fix the issue, but I don’t afford better paper at the moment. Anything I can do?
P.s. I’m using less pellets now so the stamps are better sized.
Hello,
As the
I had some new (much larger) seals to play with recently and finally got around to taking a stab at the windmill
A few small "bleeds" and some outlining showing but I'm so happy with it and enjoy the colours.
Currently working on the "night" version with iridescent wax ☺️
I'm pretty new to wax sealing, but I've done enough to be proficient at the very basics. I've sometimes colored parts of a seal with wax seal paste, which usually looks really great. The problem I've had is that it seems to rub off so easily. Is there some sort of overcoat I can use to stop that from happening, am I adding the paste wrong, or is this just something I'm going to have to live with?
Thank you so much!
Heyyyy so I just got a seal today and I have several questions that most of you will probably think are stupid I’d guess since it’s y’all’s hobby already but I gotta ask anyhow.
How mans drops of wax am I supposed to use anyways? Zero instruction came with this thing and I keep seeming to screw it up (1 1/8th” seal)
What are some decent wax brands and what would I look for in a quality candle (or however this is done) for mailing
Should I be using some type of non stick spray or something else to keep the die clean?
Emphasis on 1.
THANK YOU to anyone who is willing to impart some knowledge
