RULES

1. Be polite
Whether you're a new recruit or a grizzled veteran, courtesy and respect should be at the forefront of everything you do. You are either here for help, or you are here to help. If a new player makes a mistake, don't jump down their throat and chastise them; politely point out their error and offer constructive criticism. Likewise, if you are a new player and you ask for help, don't get angry at people who criticise your decisions - they might just be right!

2. Concerning replays
All replays should be hosted on Wargame Tools, for safety and convenience, and include the keyword "#bootcamp" in the title. If a user offers to send a replay through email or another service such as Skype, proceed at your own risk.

3. Shitpost responsibly
Shitposting is part-and-parcel of the Wargame experience. However, as this subreddit was created to promote discussion, any off-topic/meme content will be removed at the mod's discretion. Furthermore, posts targeting specific users are grounds for a permanent ban.

Difficult playing the game, would like people to play the game with

Hello! Its me Karl! Ive had this game since roughly 2019 I think? I used to play it with an old friend but usually ended up dying to the AI. Recently picked it up and been playing with a group but Im not exactly learning much then usually die to massed arty which ends up frustrating me cuz yk 40 minutes is a large chunk of time.

Soooooo just someone to play the game with me and teach me would be cool! Cuz currently Im just doing trial and error and at this rate it may take actual ages. I have read guides but dont know yet how to put them into practical use.

I also chose the "looking for players" flair since that seems to be the best one, idk which one to pick.

Is it possible to succeed in this game without being good at micro?

Title. I'm starting to get better at the game and understanding some of it's quirks. But the more I learn it the more I dawns on me - this game is micro-intensive.

Every gameplay I watch plays out the same. The player is quickly going back and forth, left and right, furiously clicking units and giving them orders on the fly, zooming in and out of the map every few seconds to get a glimpse of the battlefield and then act accordingly.

Holy shit, that's not for me. I can't be arsed to play on that skill level. I just want to play relatively slowly and not have to babysit every single unit if I don't want to lose it.

So I ask the more experienced players here, can someone be halfway decent at PvP in this game if he doesn't like to micro? I'm not interested in winning 1v1s or 2v2s. I find higher playercounts to be a lot more fun. If all I can play is 10v10 that's fine with me.

New player with some question

Hello, I've owned this game since 2018 but due to the bad tutorial and overwhelming mechanics I gave up on it very quickly. Yesterday however I felt like playing it again and I've been studying it more and experimenting against AI in Skirmish.

However I still have some questions that so far no tutorial online has answered yet:

If a unit is in a forest, does their ability to detect enemies decrease or is it the same as if they were in the open? Also, do they shoot with the same accuracy and range from within a forest as if they were out in an open field?

Another question that I have is about recon and command units.

First recon, do they have to be unloaded from their vehicles in order to spot properly? And do their vehicles also have recon capabilities? (As in, the same stats as their recon infantry).

And command units, if they're infantry do they have to be unloaded in order to cap or can I simply leave a command helicopter loaded and hidden somewhere and still cap the point?

That's all, thanks in advance

SEADs?

I honestly have absolutely not an idea on how to use these, I know the theory, but they always go down before doing what they're meant for in practice. Can I get some advice?

First Deck, how is it?

https://imgur.com/a/l9We2Ny

This is my first deck, it's a DDR Mech deck obviously, how is it? I intend to use it for 3v3s or 4v4s, hence the lack of many CVs. For 1v1s I could probably drop one of the helos and bring an extra CV card instead.

I'm wondering about is whether should drop one of my Motshutzen and bring a Konkurs Infantry instead, as I don't know how effective my Konkurs vehicles will be for supporting inf in forests/towns. Something else I'm unsure of is whether a single card of logi trucks is enough, they are the big trucks but I don't know.

As for air, my only question is whether having my SEAD be elite with only 1 unit instead of trained with 2 is a good idea. The range on it is so long that I can't imagine it would ever be in danger unless I really screwed up(which is why I'd rather have the extra accuracy), but I'm unsure.

Thanks for the help!

Returning to game (again) did much cange compared to before SA update?

I decided, that I will go back to game. Stopped playing before mainly to lack of time. Was very casual back then, played Eurocorp deck.

Fact, that my old deck code doesn't work threw me off of course and made me feel lost again. Am really thinking, if i should build EC deck again, or something else.

Fact, that most sources on internet might be now outdated also adds to confucion

Undaunted: Normandy gets a digital adaptation

Later this year, PC, Mac, and iPad gamers will be able to get a 3D rendered version of the deck-building game Undaunted: Normandy.

I had a brief chat with one of the developers working on the project, and I've covered more details on the launch at the website I work for: https://www.wargamer.com/undaunted-normandy/digital-release

Advice on building 1v1 decks vs 2v2+ decks

Looking to get into ranked/1v1 to spice things up. Are there any general tips/advice that you guys have when it comes to building decks for 1v1 vs building them for 2v2 and up? Is it different, or is there any difference at all?

How can I counter stealth bombers as a tank player?

I am a soviet tank player, but I always get crushed with stealth aircrafts. I managed to take them down once in a while, by hiding Radar AA and waiting for it to arrive, but it still can drop its bomb on my units, instant killing them mostly. Since my tanks are sometimes too slow to dodge the bombs, it is mostly a goodbye for my t-80s, once I see a stealth plane coming in. Are there any solid tactics for me or my teammates to properly counter such decks?

(Yes, I already turn the radar off from my AA to keep them hidden and I already added more AA vehicles aswell as AA-Infantry to my deck, taking away other important slots.)

BMPT or Sapery+BTR-T for USSR general (1v1-4v4)

Which one do you prefer as they are quite redundant, filling the same fire support / forest anti-infantry grinding role ?

I find the BMPT comparatively overpriced, getting 3 FAV, ok gun, optics and good AC for more twice the price of a BTR-T, without even taking into account Veh slots are cheaper and less crowded than Inf ones.

Share your thoughts.

Spawn camping? Yes or no?

Just had a 10v10 and did a huge end around stealth run into enemy spawn with the ANZACs. Basically ended up in buildings surrounding their spawn in location and gustav'd anything that appeared effectively cutting reinforcements off.

It felt kinda gamey. Is it?

Are there any good recipes/videos for low-micro pushing?

I've watched of course razzman on YouTube, but I can't seem to pull off what he does. I'm just overwhelmed with all the micro.

Let's frame it like this - if you had to take a noob on your team and they had to push on a town or Forrest what would you advise them to do? Which types of units to take?

What's a minimum viable push?

Rate my French Marine deck?

Hello all! Recently trying to get more into Wargame, and I've had some decent success in pub games with this Marine deck. I feel like I don't have much options, but I'd love to hear any suggestions! And please, if any marine players have any tips and strats to share, I'd love to hear em!

Prioritizing units

In one of Razzmans latest tournament videos, (third match against greyhound I think), link down below.

Greyhound has a Rafale circling the back of his frontline, providing a very effective cover against Razzs bombers. But instead of trying to take it out, he just sends more suicidal bombers and maintains his front. I'm just wondering how to prioritize, what you should try to neutralize first etc

How do you counter FOB sniping?

I regularly play 1v1s with my friend, and if he gets a millisecond of vision on my FOB he gets a cheap arty and Nukes my supply. Is there any counterplay beyond "just stop the recon"?

Experienced players, can you explain to me the best units Best Korea has to offer for a fellow redfor gamer?

I've been playing wargame for months, recently, I started playing North Korea, I'm having fun, but I'm having trouble in the deck builder, I don't know what units are a must have, the best, It's because I'm quite unfamiliar with the nation, despite having good decks, judged by the bootcamp discord gang.

What is in your opinion:

  • Optimal Strategy for Best Korea?
  • Best Units and Must haves?
  • Deck Specializations for Best Korea [although i won't use them till i get experienced]

Rate my deck (NSWP)

This deck is based on a deck I found online. It might have been one of Razzman's deck but I am not sure. I since replaced some units in the log, inf and sup tabs to better suit my playstyle, though I have to preface I mainly play in 10vs10 tacticals.

Some specific questions I have are:

  • Do I want both the Motostrelci and the Mot. Schützen?
  • Are the Lehka Pechota viable?
  • What about my CVs? I think people tend to favour infantry cvs in helos and tank cvs?
  • Do I keep the BM-27 or do I replace it with something else?
  • Do I need a SPAAG (Tunguska comes to mind) in my deck? How would I fit it in? Replace one of the wheeled AA pieces or the BM-27?

Thanks in advance for every answer!

PS: I am still quite new to the game, so be kind please.

How are you using recce?

I've noticed a lot of people talking about the value of reconnaissance units and bemoaning how, e.g., UK doesn't have great options, and it's making me thing I've got something deeply wrong.

At the moment I'm almost exclusively hitting "turn off weapons" and leaving my recce units in forests or buildings where they're unlikely to be found, and they're sitting there for the entire game undetected whilst happily tagging enemy units.

For this purpose literally any cheap infantry or jeep with decent optics can do it absolutely fine.

All I can think is that people are using the recon tab for attack/defence units to be with the main body of your forces. Isn't that just wasting points, which could better spent on something with worse optics and better stats? Most of my attacks are going from my cover to the enemy's cover (i.e forest->forest, forest->town) and spotting has never been an issue.

If my recce units get discovered hanging around by themselves then the cheapo ones don't stand much of a chance, but- if the enemy has spotted them anyway then chances are they're gonna die soon either way.

What am I missing?

Harrier GR.7 worth?

Four Paveways sounds really tempting. Can they replace Commonwealth anti-tank planes?

And on that note, is the Kahu worth bringing?
