I used a VPN to get Netflix prices from India. I used a wells Fargo card and that got me by for a few months, but that doesn't work anymore. How can I pay if none of my credit cards work?
A few times i’ve tried to share my iPhones hotspot with other computers/phones (non apple) with a vpn active on my phone that I am sharing the connection through.
I’ve done so on Wi-Fi and on LTE networks
Every time, when trying to access the Internet on the second device, the VPN seems to be inactive.
Why is this happening?
I’ve used a VPN for many years and know a bit so don’t be vague if you know.
I have a small business with several wired ethernet appliances and windows workstations. It also has wireless access for laptops, phones, etc.
I want to be able to connect to that network remotely as though I were hardwired into it. So when I go to print, I want to be able to see the office printers in my windows print dialog. When I save, I want to be able to see the network shares I setup at the office.
But I also want to be able to access my local network so I can print locally or save to a local network share. So when I am at the office, if I need to access the files at home, I can remotely connect before I leave and from the office, my home network appears as though it were local on my business network.
I assumed that a VPN server would allow me to do this so I tried to setup Wireguard VPN Server on the ASUS router. What a nightmare.
Can anyone tell me if there's an easier way? Is there a better way? I can get the wireguard client to connect to the server, but I can't get any traffic through the connection and my internet is not working locally once I connect through Wireguard. It is assigning the correct IP address, but that's about it.
Any suggestions?
The reason I am asking here is that I am not sure if I am even asking the right questions. I'm not sure that a vpn will do what I want. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
How reliable is a killswitch within a VPN app compared to a killswitch in an OpenWRT router?
Hi there,
I've been searching for this topic for while now without result, so I decided to go down this route. All I could find were posts about a vpn kicking you out of online matches. But in my case it's a bit different. The title sort of speaks for itself.
I would like to know if a vpn can prevent these players from kicking me out (I'm guessing they do some kind of trick by using my ip address. I've already changed the password of my router (I postponed way too long with doing that lol) and sent reports to the game developer and steam. But I want to take more actions against these foul cheating gamers who can't play fair online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I used a different browser and vpn but fb detected me
I have a non-techy friend who lives in another country, and we’d like to set up a VPN service to each other’s routers using RPI serversUnfortunately I’m the only one who is willing and knowledgable to set up the servers. Is there any solution that I can set up here, then mail a PI to plug in and automatically connect to a network? I’d like to avoid their involvement as much as possible.
Hello!
I have an ISP router (192.168.1.1) that I have plugged in to a mini-PC (I will call this Firewall) that has 2 physical ethernet ports:
Port 1 - 192.168.1.5 (connected to the ISP router), known as Ethernet in the attached
Port 2 - 192.168.50.5 (connected to my home mesh network), known as Internal Network in the attached
This bridge PC (Firewall) also has a VPN on it and connects correctly to the xxxVPN static IP address I have.
The bridge functionality works and routes all my .50 traffic, regardless of VPN being turned on or off, through the "normal" non-VPN route via my local ISP rather than the VPN tunnel.
The aim here is to have all traffic on my .50 network routed through the VPN connection, however, this isn't working for traffic on the .50 network, only the local apps on Firewall PC.
I have also tried bridging between Internal Network and xxxx OUTBOUND Connection but, this doesn't work at all.
Just to be super clear, the BRIDGE functionality of Windows is working perfectly in that the .50's can access the internet (non-vpn route).
Any thoughts on how I get ALL traffic, including the .50 devices to go through the xxxx tunnel on Firewall PC, please?
(Exceuse the blank spaces in the diagram, when posting I discovered I should not use the VPN supplier name so, quickly redacted these)
Edit: sorry, should have said that the firewall/bridge PC is windows 11 and running the VPN own client due to their excellent but proprietary protocol (xxxxLynx)
Hello! I recently finalized what I feel is a complete configuration for a self-hosted VPN server, utilizing a Raspberry Pi 4b. Networking is not my forte, so I’m hoping to get some feedback on my setup to make sure it’s complete, secure, and doesn’t create any backdoors into my network:
VPN Host: Raspberry Pi 4b running PiVPN configured for WireGuard, static IP, wired connection to router
Router: ASUS RT86u Pro, native firmware, guest network and VLAN dedicated for the RPi4 subnet, port forwarding configured for RPi4 static IP on 51820 UDP
I think that’s everything. Anything else I could add or may have looked over?
Edit: fwiw, I only intend to use this VPN for personal use while traveling. Configuration will be on a Beryl AX travel router connected to hotel and/or public WiFi.
I just subscribed to YouTube TV with NFL Sunday ticket to finish out watching the rest of the football season. I live in Utah, and signed up in Utah, however, when I go to work, I cross state lines into Nevada (I have about a 45 minute commute to work). So I start watching a football game at work (now in Nevada), and to my surprise the app warned me it detected my location in a different region. It asked if I wanted to switch regions, and it seemed at the time, that if I did not accept switching regions, it would not allow me to watch. I switched but there was some warning about it only letting me do this 3 or 4 times withing a certain period of time (I forgot exactly what it said). I went ahead and switched it so I can watch the football at work. But I'd also like to be able to watch it at home. I thinks it's all a bunch of bull crap because I'm a paying customer, not like I'm trying to pirate it. I do have a VPN called ******* VPN at home and installed on my phone. Neither VPN was in use during this whole thing.
My question is, is there are fix for this, so I can watch YTTV when I commute without getting any further strikes? I'm afraid if I turn on my VPN and set it to a location in Utah while I'm at work, it might still use my location from GPS? Any ideas? Thank you.
I wasn't allowed to post the name of my VPN. Starts with M**, and ends with VAD.
TLDR; I use DuckDuckGo and disabled the app links, use a VPN to Canada then use Tiktok in-browser while signed into my US Ph# based account. That's it.
Steps:
You do not need to uninstall TikTok | You do need a VPN provider where you can select a non-US location
Hope this helps someone, I'm not the right kinda IT to explain anything VPN. This was more "customer solutions" where I just wanted to get it done and saw the browsers as the puzzle piece to work in.
Happy Doom Scrolling!
LDR: IT professional here—I set this up for my wife. Here’s a step-by-step guide: 1. Uninstall TikTok: Start by deleting the TikTok app from your device. 2. Install a VPN: Download a reliable VPN app and set your location to Canada. (This will allow you to bypass restrictions.) 3. Sign Out of Your Apple ID: Log out of your current iCloud/Apple ID account. 4. Create a New Canadian Apple ID: • Use a random Canadian address when setting it up. • Opt for an iCloud email address to keep things simple. 5. Change App Store Region: Once the account is created, go to the App Store settings and ensure the region is set to Canada. Update it if necessary. 6. Download TikTok: With the new account and Canadian region settings, search for TikTok in the App Store and download it. 7. Revert to Your Original Apple ID: After TikTok is installed, sign out of the temporary Canadian Apple ID and log back into your main Apple ID. 8. Launch TikTok: Open the app, but keep in mind: • Don’t log in with your existing TikTok account. Doing so will trigger the ban message again. • Instead, create a new TikTok account and always use it with the VPN set to Canada
This workaround should work until the ban is lifted!
Let me know if this works for you!
**When creating a new TikTok account do not use a US Phone Number! Might even have to use a Canadian email address.
Edit: Tiktok has been restored in a few hours
If you're new to VPNs and come to this subreddit, I have some news for you.
Edit: There's a few bad actors downvoting this and spreading misinformation. Do NOT uninstall tiktok if your iPhone device has a US-based device ID or has been purchase within the US. Android devices can spoof their device ID though this is a complicated process.
VPNs won't let me access Tiktok. Why?
It's banned in the US. This means ISPs (Internet Service Providers) have banned Tiktok. Any traffic coming from the US is banned. A VPN cannot help this. You need your traffic to come from outside the US. There are no US servers.
Secondly, your phone's device ID, sim, and geolocation chip are all actively used by companies to identify you. You can still be seen as a US resident and blocked.
Accounts bound to a US number are fresh out of luck I believe. You'll need an email/non-mobile binding to your account for access.
How can I access Tiktok from the USA?
Anyone get a vpn to work to access again? I mainly want to back up some data, it's only 9:30pm so I'm not sure why it's banned earlier than they said at midnight.
I tried mola.tv and it wouldn't let my card go through. Any suggestions on how to get my card to go through, or where else I can watch the ppvs for cheap
hey,
i usually buy xbox gamepass / games via VPN with turkey keys, now i bought a giftcard and changed everything but it dont let me redeem it.
It keep says Region, i changed it to turkey allready, is there any trick? does anyone know something?
So i downloaded and ran v2ray, and now my laptop's internet doesn't work at all. I dven uninstalled it and it still doesn't work. What do I do?
Is there a way to no longer have YouTube ads on the android app? The Albania vpn used to block ads but it no longer work since yesterday
from an user and they could not, did not?
Are there really no logs 100% safe VPNs and if so, why are people using Tor and not just switch if they are really that secure?
Hey all, I'm hopping in here looking for some help. Basically, my client wants me to have access to their S:drive to help them clean it up and in order to do that from my home, I need to access it via VPN. I'm on a MAC and everything seems right to me, but I can't "find" it, keeps giving me an error.
I've been working with their Tech guy, but he's basically saying "dunno". Not great.
See pics for config.
Once I set up, I then open FINDER and choose Go -> Connect to server -> add smb://###.###.#.##/shared and the I get error:
"There was a problem connecting to the server. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. ETC"
What am I missing here? Clearly I missed something. I just can't find it and I'm hoping someone here can help.
I downloaded a VPN that is supposed to be free but when I try to select the country, it told me I had to pay. I am new to VPN so I’m just trying to get advice.
I get ads while my location is set to albania but only in french, before have been using this location for months with no ads, but yesterday youtube started showing me ads?
I'm using a VPN and connecting to a local IP address. But I noticed that Google is using that IP to pinpoint my general location. Is there any easy way to obscure that information?
I've been using the top-rated (on the spreadsheet) VPN for years. At some point in the last year or so I noticed that every time I connected, my network drives would disconnect and I'd have to reconnect. A minor annoyance, until it wasn't. I eventually got fed up with it and reached out to support. Support had me try all sorts of things. Resetting my network settings helped briefly, but that's it. They asked me to manually create a VPN setup and that couldn't even connect. The last straw was when they asked me to change my DNS to get their service to work. (I have a local PiHole setup). The main thing I use their VPN for is when I need to go around the PiHole. I've jumped through enough hoops with support so I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has suggestions or has the same issue. Alternately, I'm going to start testing other providers.
Thanks.
The first account that got banned never got suspended before and not even got one warning. All I know now is that they know my ip address when I make a new account. Buying a new phone is my last option, so what are the steps for using VPN on iPhone? I don’t see a direct way to delete cookies and which one works better?
Hi everyone. I tried to connect to my corporate vpn from Egypt but it was not possible. Any tips on the best setup? I need to
connect to a VPN from Egypt; thinking of trying to setup a server at home or a VPS using a tunnel like Amnezia to bypass the Egyptian restrictions in VPNs.
I then also need to connect to a corporate VPN through this tunnel.
Is this possible? Since VPNs are highly restricted in Egypt; I’m looking for a creative solution for remote working. Thanks!
I am behind a CGNAT so my options are to buy a static IP from my ISP or go down the VPN route. Not only can I get a VPN for half the monthly cost my ISP has quoted for a static IP but it comes with more features so that is the route I'm investigating.
The main driver for all this is that I run Plex on my NAS and currently remote access to my content is restricted because of the double-nat scenario. I thought about putting the VPN on the router but it's a Zyxel which I believe doesn't natively support it but also I don't need the speed impact on every device on the network.
I've got a WD Nas PR4100, has anyone had experience of setting up a VPN on a similar WD device as the limited Google hits suggest it's not that common or incredibly complex
Should it be easier, has anyone managed to setup a VPN on a Zyxel router and be kind enough to share the process?
Thank you in advance, all help gratefully received!
do say im on my laptop and using a VPN and using my WiFi at home or at my library and i do scetchy stuff. can someone somehow track me and find my location? can they find out which service provider im using to connect to the internet?
I see there's very few VPNs that offer US residential IPs while many Proxy providers do, are the latter safe to make an online purchase with?
