WhisperRoom, StudioBricks…what iso booth would you recommend?
After years of enjoyment it’s time to say goodbye to my home studio. We’re moving and due to limited space, I’m moving out of the closet and back into an iso booth. I’ve built booths, owned off-brand custom iso booths, and now I’m ready to invest in the last iso booth I ever hope to own.
For those of you with time in, I’d love your feedback (pros/cons), and your recommendation based on your experience. What’s the best investment in your opinion? Your time and opinion is appreciated in advance, thank you!

POST UPDATE
Here’s a detailed summary below of what happened:
(I am a new voiceover artist, by the way. So please be kind)
I replied/ “answered” a voiceover project online (voices.com). The client then sent me a message (via voices.com), asking that the sample script I send, be sent as a .WAV file. I believe she requested I email it to her. I then sent the client the updated .WAV file via email, as she requested.
The client then offered me the job, still communicating this to me via email. She had me sign a Voice Artist Service Agreement and complete a W-9 form. As per the client, my payment is expected in the amount of $700. I completed both forms and sent them to the client.
After completing the job, when I went to submit it online (voices.com), the job was removed. I reached out to the client and she requested I email it to her. The file was too large to send via email, so upon her request, I emailed her the job via a Dropbox link.
After submitting the voice submission to the client, the client confirmed receipt, and asked that I send them an invoice so they can go ahead and send the payment via check. She also asked that I state my name as I’d like it to appear on the check.
However, the Service Agreement I signed for the client does not mention that. As per the agreement the client provided me, it only states: “payable upon final project completion and approval.”
It is my understanding that all payments must be done via voices.com only. Can you kindly confirm this and provide me with any advise?
I did reach out to the Voices.com support via their support form I filled out & submitted online, emailed them and called them (but keep getting their voicemail). I’m now awaiting their response.

I'm using both Adobe Audition and Guitar Rig 7 to record and mix my VO. Contrary to the topic title, I'm very happy with the sound and tone of my voice...as long as I'm listening through my studio quality headphones (designed for studios).
But when I play them back through my cheap computer speakers or ear buds (which I feel is more representative of the average user setup), it sounds hollow or kinda like it's in a fishbowl. I assume this is because I'm losing the bottom because the cheap hardware can't push it that well.
Is there a way to account for this in the mix, so it sounds good on all setups (either pro level or the low-end speakers)?
I just landed one of my first voiceover jobs on voices.com & the client needs me to complete a W-9 form.
Hi guys,
So, I don't know if any of you had the chance to be nominated in this award. I entered the competition and completed my registration but I never paid, because I couldn't afford the fee at the moment. I thought that if you didn't pay you wouldn't even get considered. Turns out I'm nominated? 🤣 I'm super happy but also a bit like, how?
I'm in an international category and I looked at the FAQ and Rules and there's nothing that addresses something like that.
What are your thoughts? If you have been in a similar situation.
Hi everyone,
I’m an art filmmaker from Belgium, currently in a residency at the Maraika Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, working on a new project. I’ve written a voice-over for my art film, which is an experimental piece exploring nature and animal zen, designed as an installation for large-screen projection.
I’m interested in trying out the voice-over service from Artlist, but it doesn’t make sense for me to get a full year’s subscription since I only need it for about a month. I was wondering if anyone here has a voice-over subscription on Artlist and would be willing to let me try it out? I don’t mind paying a small fee for the help.
Thanks so much!
Hey all. I just wanted to throw this out there - I've renewed my voiceover portfolio recently, and well, wanted to say that if any one is looking for a husky female British-accented voice - please check my portfolio out.

I'm especially eager to voice documentaries or video game characters. :)
In the meantime, super open to any feedback regarding the website portfolio.
Thanks all.
Saw a video of a voice over artist saying she's made 75% less than last year and she's losing work due to AI.
Is it really that bad?
Whenever I speak, I can hear a slight fuzzy sound behind my voice. In that sample, when I go silent, it's not there, but as soon as I speak I can hear it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit, please let me know if there's a better one to ask on.
Does anyone have a good formula for editing a female voice?
Hello everyone! I'm Nick wanted to share a video of me building a PVC vocal booth. I'm new to voice over but have been recording guitars for sometime in an untreated space. I finally took the time to build a booth and can't be happier. I hope this helps someone out there and if you're so inclined, check it out. I'm grateful to these communities for keeping me motivated even through the times where all feels lost of breaking into a new field.
Keep at it everyone; determination and practice are two things we can control!
Part 2 is being worked where I finish the walls with peg board and acoustic panels.
Peace!
Is there a program/site that makes your voice into a template to be used in Microsoft Word, and other apps?
Like I want to open iMovie and choose “fatherofmandela” for a voice option.
I know you should put a lot into your auditions, but for me, I end up not submitting them all together, because they’re just not good enough. I will record, not like the inflection and record again, there was a pop just there so record again, then I edit, and at the end of it all, it just doesn’t cut it, to where I won’t even submit it at all. How can I get over this. I try to tell myself to not be too much of a perfectionist, but I play the comparison game a lot.
I just looked up a video game trailer I did on a few years ago to share with someone, and holy shit - it has 4.9 MILLION views on YouTube. I know that lots of people hear me everyday, it but it doesn't really mean anything to me because it's usually a passive thing (commercials, instore audio, etc.), and honestly, no one usually cares, or it's in something that I'll never see or hear again. And that's okay! I really love my job, and I don't expect people to be that excited about car commercials. But seeing the comments and views on this thing really kind of floored me, and I don't usually get to feel that kind of pride. Today is a good day, and I'm going to keep this in my back pocket for the rough ones.
Hello 👋 I make odd animations making a workflow that works for hobby at my skill level., 😮💨🫁 It’s 3D low poly unpolished fever dream stuff. I have no money for this project. But yeah I’m out here doing things if you might be interested in using my work to practice placing sound effects for animation or just giving it that extra layer of narrating the action or telling an unrelated story. M down to clown and hope every1 has a nice day
Pretty much title.
I'm a professional musician/singer and I've got a pretty sweet home recording studio and looking to dabble in VO work.. There are so many platforms, and some are quite pricey, so I'm here looking for some advice before I swipe..
Thanks in advance!
Okay so I just had hell figure out how do I get microphone to work cuz here I've got $400 microphone and it couldn't work and then it turned out i go into the control panel, I go into sound, i have to tap the playback tab at the rode microphone properties 4800 properties advanced 4800 tap on the recording, hit the mic hit the microphone the rode microphone, go into properties going to go under Advanced tap that at 4800 and then then click okay, and then once I did that then that's what it actually worked, all the sudden it's connecting now but it wasn't before, so what it is is they have to match, you have to make sure that the recording and the playback match. That was stressful, I just spend two hours trying to figure that out.
So I'm leaving it here for anyone in the same predicament.
Hey VO folks! I’ve been told by friends, family, and even strangers that I have a voice “made for radio” (or audiobooks), and I finally want to see what all the fuss is about. The thing is, I have no clue where to start. I’ve done some light Googling but it feels like there’s so much out there. Hoping you all can help me get pointed in the right direction.
Here’s where I’m at:
I’m mostly interested in audiobook narration (I love storytelling), but I’m open to commercial VO, eLearning, or really whatever makes sense as a starting point.
Any advice, resources, or warnings would be super appreciated. Thanks in advance!
If you need help with your Audio File/ Podcast/ Youtube audio/ Radio Commercials/ SFX and Sound Design and more... please feel free to reach out to me in messages, so we can get connected and talk about your project!
Here are some demos if you want to check out:
Hey folks, wondering if you could advise on a mic that offers substantially better audio quality over the iPhone 14PM + Rode USBC combo that I use currently. I make instructional YouTube videos and need that high end quality! I am not sure where to start to be honest, Sennheiser?
Have laid some foundation, with gear and items to create space with better acoustics - but having a hard time taking the next steps.
Re: V/O, having doubts about what is possible given the advancements of AI. Also, don't want to put my voice out there to train or be duplicated. Am I being ridiculous?
Re: podcasting - have had a few people tell me that I should probably listen to more podcasters to see how they do theirs - to use it as a template. I don't really want to copy other methods - just want to do my own thing. Again, am I being ridiculous?
TIA.
I got the microphone but it didn't come with a stand. What inexpensive stand would work for this?
Disclaimer: I use UpWork and have gotten the majority of my work from it, mostly from repeat clients.
I see posts start with "This is a LONG-TERM position with GREAT benefits" SO much that it seems like boilerplate for scammers. Now I'm not saying they will all be scams and you shouldn't apply, just be EXTREMELY cautious. It just sounds like they're trying to bridge the gap between self-employed and employed, offering raises and benefits.
Just, be careful out there.
Commercial VO work has all but dried up for me this past fortnight in the UK. It’s as quiet as when Covid kicked in. Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the same? I think (I hope) it may be down to the delayed government budget which is due at the end of the month.
