So i recently got Vive ultimates and saw this extra cable going into a singlue hub with the dongle for them to pair to, do i need the extra cable and hub just for the dongle or can i plug the dongle straight into my pc?
Can anyone help me please
I know the Pico 4 is able to play standalone VRChat now, and I was wondering if the Vive XR Elite has the ability to as well.
I bought the vfv and have it connected to my PC via the link box and jumped into vrchat but hand tracking is super messed up. The angle seems off, like I've got my hands reversed or something
Hey all!
I recently picked up a 1st gen HTC vive. It works fine, One of the base stations keeps flashing red, even after replugging it in. Still functions fine, though.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
so ive been having this issue and ive tried soooooo many things and im loosing my mind especially since i do content creation and i dont have working eyes
my eye tracking wont work properly before it would stutter basically work a couple seconds freeze for a couple and work again for a couple etc. etc. then it started not connecting and only the face tracker working whish is the vive face tracker connected to the headset itself and on sraniple the eyes would black out
after first attempt to fix it by un installing and reinstalling raniple the logo for the vive pro eye calibration on steam window is now a question mark and calibration sometimes will mainly fail but can have a chance of randomly letting me do either most the calibration or the entire calibration and if that works its a hit or miss if the eye tracking actually works and again will just go back to the issue of working for a couple seconds at a time
ive tried to completely remove and un install everything relating to the headsert to fresh install but there seemed to be files saved somewhere not related to vive or steam vr cause it just came up with same info of a few things as before like eye calibration info and such
so idk what to do to fix it and im hoping its just not the eye tracking itself on the headset just dying cause litereally everything else about the headset still works even the face stracker plugged in
and if by chance its the eye tracker itself dying how would i go to fixing that too i use to solder for a job so i if that is a un fortunate path i just really really need help to fix and get my eye tracking working again asap
Hey all, I wanted to play some vr today, and whenever i launch a vr title, my vr just freezes and the monitor screen goes to like 20 fps. I have no clue what is wrong with the headset, since i use it almost daily and never had a singular problem. This is the first time i encounter such problem, The strange thing is that i can access the steamvr home stuff, and everything works fine, until i launch a game and then it freezes,
I've tried deleting steamvr and the game, its neither of those, i've tried swapping out the hdmi, didnt work either. I have no clue what to do and i wish some of you can help me. |

my vive xr elite headset seems incapable of connecting to my pc wirelessly, it just will not connect wirelessly at all, and i've checked the firewall permissions and it allows vive hub to do its thing but it will not recognize my headset at all, i am unsure what else i can do
Hello Ive been wanting to get a vive pro eye and I wanted to know if there any sites where I can order presciption lenses for the headset?
Probably the biggest lie I've ever been fed by any company ever. [Eye tracking out of the box and user friendly]
Not to be extreme but the amount of profanity i want to use to describe my user experience with this headset day one is the most frustrating and annoying thing I've ever had to deal with.
I unboxed the headset with excitement and joy thinking I'd finally have a dream headset both for standalone and pc experiences... Nope. Hopped straight into vrchat to test eye tracking and not a single thing about this headset has been usable. I expected to also be able to use index hands for the actual use of the headset as I've requested from several people who've used the headset before release, Nope. I've spent thousands of hours in the Index headset and even though the index has a plethora of issues itself, at least they did not promise a useable object and primary focus of the headset just for it to not function as promised....
As a content creator this experience is just disappointing to say the least. Yet another over promise under deliver from the "Developers" of new products and games.
When i try to Install the Vive Ultimate trackers in Vive hub. It doesn’t download at all and shuts it down
The Vive Focus Vision is a promising bit of VR gaming kit, but it seems many users are currently plagued with issues, especially with the Vive wired streaming kit. But I seem to have found a solution to that particular problem.
One thing I noticed when trying to use USB or DisplayPort streaming modes was that Windows would make the "device disconnected" sound at short, regular intervals. I had checked all my physical connections, they were fine. There were no stresses pulling any cables. Rather, what this was reminding me of was using a USB device with too high of a power demand for the cable/USB port. The inconsistent power causes regular disconnects, often rendering the device inoperable.
HTC shipped the wired streaming kit with a 30W USB-C power supply. This is apparently inadequate for the task.
The solution: I swapped the 30W power supply with a 45W power supply from my Steam Deck. Now the entire Vive Focus Vision setup works beautifully. The difference was immediate.
For best results, use the following process:
Hope this helps! Let me know if this trick worked for you.
Tl;dr: Replace the 30W power supply included with the wired streaming kit with a 45W USB-C kit.
Just to make one thing clear. I’ve been wanted a decent pcvr headset with built in cameras and inside out tracking.
The fact that the Vive focus Vision was supposed to be hybrid standalone pcvr headset had me hoping it’d make up for the high price with versatility but I was wrong there.
Firstly when I ordered from Amazon and they delivered the headset I got the device but not the DisplayPort cable so was disappointed that they didn’t just wait to deliver both the headset and cable at the exact same time so that’s one of the reasons I ended up returning it.
The latency is far too high to use the headset for wireless pcvr without needing to buy a dedicated router which means spending more money. Maybe if this headset gets better reviews and they get their software together I might buy it back but the thing is the library is painfully small and again latency is too high for wireless pcvr.
What I personally wish they’d do even though this isn’t gonna happen is make a cheaper Vive focus vision alternative by making it 100% pcvr and stripping away standalone capabilities and just make it a tethered pcvr headset. Even if they had to remove the eye tracking and motors I would’ve been happy with it.
I loved the colors of their LCD panel and the sharpness even with stand-alone and compression compared to the quest 3. It’s just the Vive focus vision doesn’t seem to be enough to make up for the price tag so I wish they’d try to make a native pcvr version of it with inside out tracking and try to get the price down to $800 or maybe $700.
The lenses were kinda weird and the glare and god rays wasn’t as bad as I thought. It is definitely noticeable in contrasting scenes but at least it didn’t irritate me eyes. In bright scenes I haven’t noticed any glare at all.
I know everyone hates fresnel lenses but not me. I’m just desperate to get a decent pcvr headset with inside out tracking but the few options we have right now are messes. The DPVR E4 doesn’t have IPD Adjustment and has bad audio and Pimax has quality control issues with the crystal light.
Reason I want a decent pcvr headset with built in cameras and inside out tracking was to get over my Hp Reverb G2. Hopefully one day I can get a decent headset that will live to that standard like the G2 did but with the current state of vr right now and the majority of companies being focused on enterprise that’s just not happening.
And yes I know the vive pro 2 is a thing but you need base stations for that headset
Are there many uses of Vive Trackers besides being used for Gaming?
I have a Focus Vision and i have played it with a Quest Link Cable and a powered Link cable. And none of them charge the Headset, is the DisplayPort kit the only way to charge it while playing or is it not able to be charged while played.
So my old Omen laptop fried and I picked up a Legion Pro 7, figured the 4090 was a solid future proofing investment. But no matter what I try, I cannot get it to recognise the Vive on either USB-C port the way my old system did. It detects the base station is connected and sets up the Vive camera and headset audio just fine, but the HMD is not detected over my USB-C to DP adaptor the way it was on my old HP laptop. I've tried setting the GPU to direct mode in the BIOS instead of Hybrid, but no luck. I've tried it on both USB-C ports. Nada. Any suggestions?
I bought a vive off of market place today and i tried setting it up to play and everything but when i got the the part in viveport to set up the base stations the program goes completely white and i cant progress any further, ive already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, ive even factory reset my pc to see if something was breaking the installation process but is still doing it, i tested it on my laptop and it had no problems and ran just fine but for some reason on my gaming pc it seems to be crashing at the base station setup
Does anybody know if the Full Displayport streaming kit charges the headset too. Cause im using a normal link cable and it doesn’t charge it while playing.
And when i use it on Standalone the Eye tracking is decent. But when i switch to Steam VR it then sucks
Is there a way to fix this?
I just got the gear vr lens mod for vive pro but there's warping around the edges. How can I get rid of the warping and make the image flat?
HTC vive focus plus controller question
Good morning/afternoon
I recently purchased a vision focus plus as a cheap way for me to try out pcvr. I got it up and running on vridge in an acceptable state for me, but I have another issue. Controller compatability with games. The 6dof controllers the headset comes with just suck for compatability. The games I can get them mapped in the track pads on them still sending me carening non stop in whatever the last direction I swiped in causing a great deal of motion sickness. When that's not the issue it seems to lack the buttons to fully map what's required to select basic menu options, pause, etc.
So my question is, is the device compatible with any controller, preferably with an analog stick, or can I use a base station type setup to bypass using the controllers all together?
Hello,
I just upgraded from the original Vive Pro w/ the wireless kit to a Vive Focus Vision and I cannot get it to be playable unlike the Pro which was janky but games did not suffer any freezes or stuttering.
I pre-ordered so I am going to get the display port stuff, but it has not come yet. I was hoping to try this thing out with wireless streaming, but I have not had much success and can't get through a song in Beat Saber without at least one massive freeze followed by latency before it gets playable again.
My setup is as they recommend. I have UniFi networking equipment with a U7-Pro AP directly in front of where I am playing. It set up an SSID with only 6Ghz and that AP to rule out any roaming issues. My PC has a 10Gbps hardwired connection and the AP has a 2.5Gbps hardwired connection.
My phone benchmarks 900 Mbps and my TV in the other room can stream high bitrate MKVs which are well over the 40 Mbps bitrate I set the streaming settings to. My PC has an RTX 4090 and a 7950X3D. Everything works well except for this.
SteamVR also crashes a surprising amount of times. I read to disable Nvidia's overlay so I'm going to try that but every time it crashes it disables some stuff that makes the Vive software no longer work with it and I need to then re-enable and restart SteamVR to get it happy. Hopefully this doesn't continue to plague me with the display port cable but none of that happened with the OG Vive Pro.
I'm thinking maybe this thing is just glitchy as it's pretty fresh off the factory floor. Wondering if people are having a similar experience or maybe there's some UniFi settings that need tweaking. As a Sonos owner I'm familiar with how some devices need a bit extra effort to configure.
Thanks!

Update - I decided to give USB mode a go to see if that was any better. I first tired a long cable which froze up quick on the first song I played, and my PC showed an error about how I should use USB3. It's a USB3.1 port but likely not a great cable so I tried a shorter one which did clear up the error about using USB3. However, in-between cables SteamVR crashed itself to death and I had to reboot my PC to even get it to open. Once that was settled my first song froze up mid way and I noticed I could still 100% play the song watching my PC monitor, the headset was not getting any video but the PC was getting all of my inputs. Vive Hub showed one red bar for my USB connection (?) and something about missing frames. Since I could totally control the game still I just paused and waited. It came back, and I finished the song. The next song didn't freeze once, first time in the couple days I have been torturing myself with this thing. I was so excited I played a third which froze up and never came back so I just shut down for the night. I guess I'll hold out for the display port cable and see if I can use this device with it. Otherwise, maybe it just doesn't work, and I need to exchange / return it. That would be a bummer because I really liked my Vive Pro and the idea of that without all the hassle of base stations and the huge wireless accessory is what sold this for me.

Final update - u/DashiellRaccoon 's comment below got wireless streaming to work for me! Just make sure to apply the headset SW update in Vive Hub on your PC as well or it'll give you a warning when you go to stream that you should update. Except for a few microstutters the gameplay was flawles. USB was that but without the stutters so I'm excited to see how DP goes.
Hi Yall, Ive been trying to set up my Focus Vision with my PC (Ryzen 5 7600X and Radeon 6700XT) and I keep getting an error code -1073740940 after a few minutes of it being connected. I'm connecting it just with a USB 3.1 to USB-C Cable since it seems like Vive dropped the ball on getting the Displayport kits to people in time (including me, still waiting on mine). Would anyone know what this code is or how to set this up or anything?
Hi. For people who have already bought the new Vive Focus Vision. Did the extra battery come with buying the headset? Since it's hot swappable. Or do you literally have to throw another $100 towards vive for the extra battery?
Just curious. Thanks! :)
Like the title implies, I bought the Focus Vision for PCVR and hear crickets when I stream PCVR games. Why do I hear this? How do I turn it off?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting the VIVE Focus Vision, but I'm not sure. Anyone tried it out? What do you think?
Just attempting to put together my wireless setup, only for the VIVE Wireless app to break on me.
The very first time I installed the app, it seemed to work fine, and asked to Pair the antenna with the headset. It struggled to do that, so I asked it to try again, and it got stuck on 'initializing...', even after I exited the app and back into it. So I uninstalled the app and redownloaded it, only to have it say 'WiGig card not found'.
I tried redownloading the app again, changing the port that the Card was installed it, and nothing has worked.
Appreciate any help I can get.
I stripped the crap out of a screw on the top on the battery holder thing. it's too little to drill into and I have tried almost everything.
Had the unit for almost a year, and use it semi regularly. Fired it up the other day and Vive Console informs me there's too many monitors connected. But nothing has changed. I run a single Samsung G9 on a displayport cable, and one small LCD screen in the PC case for hardware monitoring on hdmi. Unplugged the lcd, rebooted, same error. Gave up and played normally, plugged everything back in and tried the VR again later with no issue, but it's happened a couple of times since.
Any ideas?
I have recently received a second-hand vive flow vr headset and I am currently struggling with setting it up.
Right after I got it I did a hard reset, I installed the vive app on my phone and got throught the basic language and sight setup on the headset. Now I am stuck on the "Pair VR controller" screen. I cannot connect the device to my phone (Samsung A54) via the VIVE app, because of [DISCONNECTED to CONNECTING] and other errors are occuring while I try to pair them together. Is there any solution to this?
Hello everyone, might be a long shot posting here but haven't found anything relative anywhere.
I have a VP2 for about a year,last week i changed to a 7900xtx and things were going great,yesterday i had a rock solid 4hour session with no issues.
Now today, from the first moment i tried to start steamvr i got Headset Not Detected and vive console never starts.Things that i tried:
Different USB-DP
Changing slots and reseating ALL cables including the HMD side.
Reinstalling vive and steamvr, during the installation neither USB or Displayport connections are found.
Meanwhile i have pulled my old OG vive and it works like a charm using the same cables from PC to Linkbox.
I have contacted VIVE support but they are famous for not being fast (or helpful) and I am looking to find if there is anything else to try in the meantime.
I was thinking cable as it has a notch in a spot near the headset port but it was to sudden and it would be ridiculous to have cable damage as I play mostly seated.
Any ideas?
