Here's what I'm using:
7.0.3495.20 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
For some reason, if I type in, say, kobo.com or some other site, it doesn't go to the secure site. It keeps trying to go to the http:// version, even though I have "always use secure connection" checked in settings. Anyone else having this problem?
I am a multiyear user of Vivaldi browser on Windows 11.
I'm suddenly receiving a Failed To Open Mail Database error message.
The fix suggested is:
error [Mail - startup] Error: Your mail database was created with a newer version of Vivaldi. Please upgrade Vivaldi.
VersionError: Your mail database was created with a newer version of Vivaldi. Please upgrade Vivaldi.
I am already running version 7.0.3495.20 (Stable channel) (64-bit) which appears to be the latest.
Is there some newer version I'm missing somewhere? Any suggestions?
Hi, vivaldi is a good browser that can replace kiwi right now. It can meet most needs. But unfortunately Lingvanex translation is far behind Google translation. It translates with very inverted sentences. Why? Why is there no Google translation?
Why is Vivaldi so badly designed ? I have to use Firefox to be able to edit my bookmarks in batches OR to sort them by name. It's weird that in 2024 whoever designed this browser doesn't understand the most basic concept how a bookmark editor should work.
Does anyone know how to CLEAR EVERYTHING (cache, cookies, passwords) when closing this browser ? Even EDGE from Microsoft has this feature. Firefox had it since 2005.
It is extremely frustrating. Right now Vivaldi takes the cake for the worst browser I've ever used.
Vivaldi - 6.9.3447.54 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Revision - eb6838f766b38d733d372a9b2bcf2126d106591e
Windows 10 Version 22H2 (Build 19045.5131)
UPDATE: It seems that I was correct, Vivaldi is a privacy FAILURE. Sorry to burst your bubble.
A long time ago, Vivaldi announced with some fanfare a neat feature to give the tab bar some texture by allowing to overlap an image on top of it: https://vivaldi.com/blog/window-background-image/
Somehow, I cannot find that option anymore! Does anyone know if it has been removed? Or am I just failing to find it?
But the past few days I have been using the Vivaldi browser. And I absolutely enjoy it.
I'm struggling to find the use cases for stacks and workspaces in my workflows..
I would be extremely interested to know where you guys find these (obviously cool) features very useful...
for instance, i can imagine if i could have every instance of drive.google automatically open within a stack, that would be amazing for keeping my tabs clean - so all drive.google tabs were findable at a single place, and this 'family' logic could be used for all sorts of different domains, in fact, i could even imagine a default where instances of the same 'family' DEFAULT to opening in the same stack..
interested to hear any thoughts here!
I've been looking off-and-on for ages for how to get rid of the enormous downloads sidebar that opens and takes up a third of my browser window whenever I want to quickly check my download statuses and history.
Every other browser in the world has an unobtrusive little pop-up that gives all the necessary info in an instant, Vivaldi thinks that's too easy...
I saw a couple of posts from years and years ago, but none of the "fixes" work now. Either it's not possible or it's so unintuitive that it may as well be.
Also, the panel (sidebar) is difficult to get rid of just in itself - why isn't there an option to show/hide the panel in the options? Do you really get that much cash from sponsors if you promise you'll make it as difficult as possible for users to hide their unwanted content? Call me old-fashioned, but with a tab bar, address bar and bookmark bar neatly hamburgered across the top, I've no need whatsoever for another layer of buttons taking up space along the side of my web pages...
*** BIG EDIT, WITH FIX:
I always had the download button in my address bar, but clicking on it always opened the sidebar (panel) option. I searched for ages for a solution and never found a fix - the only suggestions were to put the downloads button in the address bar ... which I had already done from the start! Very frustrating.
*-*-* To eventually fix this, I put ANOTHER COPY of the download button into the address bar, and then I had two next to each other. The original one (now deleted) opened the enormous sidebar panel, and the new one (now used) opens a drop-down light-weight downloads summary - exactly what I was looking for.
I understand why everyone else was frustrated with me, and please understand why I was frustrated with everyone else!
I'm a big Vivaldi fan, so I'm glad this only little problem I had has been fixed now.
Sorry, thanks, and thanks and sorry.
Loving Vivaldi so far, but...
Any way to get rid of the large right pane when searching for images, as it takes up about a third of my monitor?
At a given browser size where Chrome and Firefox both fit 25 image results, Vivaldi displays only 12 because of the massive 'preview' to the right. Any way to close or disable this?
Thanks!
im trying to login into vivaldi in my new laptop after logging in I see this, but I never had been given / or even made a encryption key, and it's telling me if I don't know it all my data will be removed?
I want to have a profile dedicated to using VPN.
As Vivaldi does not have workspaces (with specific profiles) [ will this ever be possible? (like container tabs in firefox and Arc workspaces), is it on the plan to be implemented? ], I want just the theme, my shortcuts, customization of the vivaldi browser to be exported, not the browsing history and bookmarks.
Is it possible to just export my vivaldi settings preferences, I tried finding, no clear solution (as they all said whole data of the profile can be copied)
Vivaldi team looking for help... Also, if you are here, will the workspaces with specific profiles possible in future?
Thanks..
Hello, Vivaldi community. Is it possible to dump a preset background image somehow in good resolution? Specifically interested in this one on cut-off screenshot. It looks so cozy in my opinion to an extent of wanting to print it on a custom large size mousepad for my pc setup.
I'm loving my experience so far, but a question raised, since i installed it through the RPM package on the official website, how is it going to update?
Hey Guys,
Just want to say, I wish there was proper background media support (YouTube / YouTube Music / …) for iOS. There is a workaround that when you play content, then press the Vivaldi Icon to open the options menu and then swipe up to get to the iOS home screen you can then resume playback through Dynamic Island or the Notification Center. It even supports playlists, where it will continue with the next song. However this means you are locked out of using Vivaldi while playing music/audio.
Now I wish there was just a checkbox in the settings to properly enable media background play without needing a workaround, this would also allow to keep using Vivaldi while listening to the content.
Second thing is integration into CarPlay to play my audio directly through Vivaldi.
Additionally it would be nice to have the feature to create media playlists in Vivaldi similarly to Brave.
dunno what changed this week (it was working fine before), hell even after updating browser (now on 7.0.3495.20 (Stable channel) )
my issue:
open new tab
i search anything on google (using the adress window)
i get an empty page , its only after i hit enter again that google search opens with the results
its annoying having to click the window again and press enter , dunno if its a know bug or if its something on my end
things i noticed , is that i can keep searching on that tab w/o issuses after the first search, but i open a new tab and search > have to click twice...so the issue is on the first search only.
cleared cookies just in case and still happening
I know I can just make a Vivaldi account and sync them to that but I want to be able to have access to all my existing/future passwords on all the apps I use across devices. It's the only dealbreaker keeping me from using Vivaldi as my primary browser. Anybody know of a workaround?
Hey y'all! I've been loving Vivaldi and I use it as my daily browser, however nothing is perfect. One of the issues that has been bothering me from the beginning, is that the font of the tab names sometimes go slightly blurry. It affects only a few tabs at a time but it is especially noticeable if there is a blurry tab between several correct looking ones. It usually occurs when switching to such "broken" tab: when you click on it, the tab name flickers up and down like 1-2 pixels and becomes blurry. I've found several forum and reddit posts about this (the oldest one I think from 2018) but I haven't seen any solutions there. I've only encountered this issue on Windows 11, not sure if it affects other systems too
At first, I thought it has something to do with the font rendering engine of Chromium browsers. In general Chromium font rendering is not as sharp as Gecko engine, but overall I don't have blurry font - it is only sometimes affecting the tab names. Anyway, I started playing around with CSS for better font rendering. I found several options like these:
.tab {
text-rendering: optimizeLegibility !important;
-webkit-font-smoothing: none !important;
text-shadow: none !important;
-webkit-text-stroke: 0 !important;
filter: none !important;
}
I have no idea if all those properties really affect the tab font, but I feel like it made the normal looking tabs more sharp. However, it unfortunately didn't solve the issue with sporadic blurry tabs.
Then I started inspecting Vivaldi's UI around tabs and testing different CSS properties in dev tools. I did find one property which - when disabled - made the tabs go sharp again. The property and Vivaldi's default value are:
will-change: transform
I'm no CSS expert so I'm not really sure what it actually does to the element (for those interested, some more information here), but disabling it made my tabs not go blurry anymore. The final piece of CSS:
.tab-position {
will-change: unset !important;
}
I hope that my post might help someone else with this issue, cheers
Title almost says it all, but I mean - if Vivaldi built in password manager can generate passwords, and if it can, with required length and complexity ?
I know it has features like notes, bookmark,history ,speed dials ,passwords .but is it shady like opera or is it more privacy friendly something like Firefox. ( Passwords sync is my main concern here)
It's tab stacking logic is just great besides the side panel features which are unparalleled currently. I'm just migrating from Arc and it feels just awesome to have so much power instead of just a cool design. The only things Vivaldi need are a little bit of polishing of the existing features because it's already great so far.
I use Firefox as my main driver and use Vivaldi for video sights as performance is better than FF.
But FF is increasingly having issues with other sites and passwords so I want to ditch it for V.
But that would be twice the activity that I'm currently splitting between the two programs.
Can V handle it or, as mentioned, would it help to run two separate V programs to improve performance?
Has anyone used two V apps at the same time and is it even possible?
Thanks
I use Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi, all of them. On Chrome and Firefox I have Ublock origin. I have configured Ublock origin to block certain elements other than ads, like Facebook Login popup, Ticktok Login popup, and Youtube shorts, because shorts are nothing more than pure time wasters.
I could install Ublock origin on vivaldi of course, but I'm wondering if I can such elements via the built in blocker, I mean installing two blockers in one browser is an overkill.
I'm currently trying out Vivaldi as my default browser I love the shortcuts for choosing the search engines(as in g [whatever] for a google search). Is there a way to create a shortcut for image search(like gi [image]) as well? I can't seem to find an option for that in the settings.
any other browser i can just aim where i drew in with red at the top and it opens but in vivaldi i have to get on aimlabs before i open vivaldi to train my flicks right on the +. thank you if not i quit :(
