For pre-1980 or so TV shows -- but not the usual Lucy or Gunsmoke reruns. This subreddit is for the ephemeral TV programs of the pre-VCR era -- the stuff no one ever expected to see again: newscasts, local kiddie shows and horror movie hosts, live TV dramas, game shows, soap operas, teen dance parties... Oh, and kinescopes. Lots and LOTS of kinescopes.

'Dog & Cat' (1977). Very short-lived series sold as "Baretta Meets Charlie's Angels". Remembered, if at all, for 2 things: 1) its "cop odd couple" premise was later ripped off by 'Lethal Weapon' & its innumerable imitators; & 2) it was the first starring role for 23 yr old Kim Basinger.

Anybody remember the show 'Music Connection' (1969)? It was apparently a music variety show produced by Tele-Jockey, which aired on various stations such as KEMO TV San Francisco, WATL TV Atlanta, WPHL TV Philadelphia, WPGH TV Pittsburgh, and WXIX TV Cincinnati

Help with character name from the 50s

I'm trying to find my biological dad's middle name. It came from a soap opera at the time he was born, May 1954. All notices of death or obituary only has his middle initial, E. I have no family left that I can ask and can not get any other information on him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It starts with Eu, not Eugene, I can't recall if there is a ph next.

Anyone know where I can watch season 7 of Medical Center?

This might be a bit of a long shot, but I need the first two episodes of Medical Center season 7 for a project and can’t find them anywhere (other than Amazon, but $40 is too steep for me to justify). Can anyone help me out? I’m willing to spend some money to rent the DVD if necessary, but so far I haven’t been able to find it on any rental sites.

Good black vintage tv shows?

I’ve been watching good times. Guess I’m looking for anything 60s-90s.

Trying to find my grandfather on the 1960s to tell the truth show

My grandfather was on the game show to tell the truth in either 1966 or 1967. He was pretending to be a butterfly collector and ended up fooling the judges to think it was him and won a whopping $200! I have skimmed through some episodes on YouTube but haven't been able to find the one he was on. His name was Carlo carini. Any help or direction would be great!

Need Help Finding an Episode of the Mike Douglas Show

Idk if this is the right subreddit to ask, but I'm trying to find the episode of the Mike Douglas Show where John Lennon and Chuck Berry perform. Yes, THAT episode! #11.123. I see all these 40 second clips around Instagram but can never find the full thing. Apparently it used to be uploaded to YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbGuxGGOIV0 , but was blocked for copyright by CBS. I already tried downloading the link and using the wayback machine. Neither worked. If anybody has the clip or knows where to find episodes of the Mike Douglas Show, it'll be helpful if you say so. If you think there's a better subreddit to post this in, you can tell me that too. Thanks.

Desperately Looking for an Old TV Show for Kids(90s~00s)

I have tried to find a kids tv show of my old memory for a few years. Google, Chat GPT never helped. No one remember this.

Please let me know if anyone knows this. But I only remember very little part of it. As far as i remember, the tv show was something as follows;

  1. There was a very impressive character in the show. He was always sitting on a throne. (Or he was fixed for some reason) But he was not a real human. He seemed to be made of clay or mud. He has long chin like Tutankhamun. He was big.

  2. That human shaped character sitting on a throne called a boy named 'Doogie'. I think the main character's name was doogie. The big-human shaped character always called 'doogie' with his low, deep and scary voice.

  3. The tv show was not a cartoon or animation. Real human actors were showing. Actors were American or European.

(Of course, Some actors were in costume and make up)

I already searched most posts of similar topic in Raddit. And i discovered similar shows named 'Reverse the curse'(it has very similar mood) or 'Tutenstein'. But none of these were what i'm looking for.

Please let me know if you know.

The 1st Emmy awards ceremony was held at the Hollywood Athletic Club on Jan 25, 1949. Only L.A.-produced shows were eligible. Ventriloquist Shirley Dinsdale (here w/her dummy "Judy Splinters"), then a UCLA student, was voted Outstanding TV Personality.

Beany and Cecil, "The Wildman Of Wildsville". Bob Clampett's old puppet characters, redone as an animated cartoon. Possibly the beatnikiest show ever made; presumably the only SatMorn episode of its time to include a Lenny Bruce reference (1962)
