Hi all,
I have been eating a mostly plant-based diet for the past 4 years and 6 years vegetarian before that.
I have an energy limiting condition that makes it hard to cook from scratch. Most of the vegan keto recommendations I found online require this.
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for vegan keto-friendly foods that require little to no preparation?
With the January payday right around the corner, my partner and I are looking to go for a Keto diet.
One of the things I can see us struggling with is having some food around that can make for good improvised dinners.
Things like pasta, rice and potatoes are great because they're cheap and versatile. You can make a lot of different meals very easily with a single purchase.
Does anyone have any recommendations for Keto foods with a similar degree of versatility, that can be bought in bulk?
Thanks.
Hi,
My name is Kristi and I'm a mental health researcher at Lancaster University. I'm posting here to ask the Veganketo Mods if I could share a study I'm conducting on men's experiences of orthorexia (I have attempted to contact mods through modmail but perhaps my message didn't go through)? As a clarification, it's not assumed that a certain dietary practice or fitness type is orthorexic, but perhaps individuals who identify with orthorexia may visit this forum occasionally since it's related to health.
Thanks,
Kristi
Hello everyone, I'm new to this group and I'm looking to connect with others who have ovarian cancer. I'm currently in maintenance mode and receiving treatment with Avastin and Lynparza. Recently, I came across Dr. Jockers' work on the vegan keto diet and its potential benefits for ovarian cancer. I was impressed by his explanation and decided to discuss it with my doctor. She was familiar with the keto diet, but not with Dr. Jockers specifically. She gave me the green light to try the diet, but warned that it might not be sustainable in the long term and could leave me feeling tired. Has anyone else had experience with the vegan keto diet and ovarian cancer? I'd love to hear about your experiences and learn more from this community.
I hate to admit this as a chef but for the price I can’t make a homemade bread better than this. Toasted with butter 🙌 Even my kid likes it lol. Tons of protein and fiber! Great for grilled cheeze & sandwiches.
I’m currently eating this as one meal a day on my work days. It’s easy to meal prep the cauliflower, spinach, broccoli and mushrooms. I do batches of five serves and fridge them. Then just before eating I add the tahini, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds and avocado. I make the chia pudding after I’ve just finished eating it, so it’s always ready for the next day. It seems to be getting me into ketosis, especially when it’s combined with fasting. Takes all my meal times for the day down to half and hour, gives me all the veges I need, and keeps me ketotic. (Ketones were 1.7 this morning). Also has all the fiber I need. About 1900 calories. And 100gms protein.
Main meal: Riced Cauliflower Broccoli Spinach Mushrooms Avocado Tahini Lemon juice Hemp seeds Pumpkin seeds Olive oil
Chia pudding: Almond milk Almond protein powder Chia Macadamias Walnuts Almonds Brazil nuts Blueberries
In the past I did pescatarian keto (mainly vegetarian keto) for 6 months. I lost weight and lowered my A1C. Recently I developed high cholesterol and need to deal with that plus the A1C, and hopefully weight loss. I'm wondering if anyone on here has successfully lowered their cholesterol and LDL through vegan keto?
A relative w/newly diagnosed blood sugar issues is coming to stay. They are, for the last month or so, eating an attempt at a low-carb diet and seeing good results, so I'd love to make some delicious vegan-friendly meals without messing up their progress.
I admit I'm a little lost. So far in my meal planning, I feel like I'm relying heavily on "subsitutes" like keto tortillas (relative says they don't spike blood sugar), but without those, everything else feels cold, like a salad, or not very filling, like soup without beans, grains, or bread to dip.
Anyone favorite recipes you could share? TIA!!
Also- if possible- recipes without spaghetti squash. I ate it a LOT in my disordered eating years when I skipped pasta to be thin. It never tastes good to me anymore. I like other squash though! If I have to, I can deal, though.
I'm 31 and I've had really bad PCOS for most of my life. Pretty much the only symptom I don't have is being overweight. I know my current diet is too high in sugar and simple carbs (I have a weakness for rice and sugary lattes), so I need to make changes, but I also really want to stay vegan. Meat grosses me out and I can't get past what happens to the animals in the factory farms.
However, in the past when I have attempted to cut carbs, I've often felt shaky and hypoglycemic, so I am thinking of just making a few simple changes rather than trying to do a strict keto program. I'm not really worried about carbs in legumes or vegetables, but I think I need to eliminate or cut way back on grains, potatoes, fruit, and added sugars (i.e. nondairy ice cream, syrup in my morning latte, dark hot chocolate mix, vegan donuts, etc.) I cut out alcohol about a month ago.
Has anyone here successfully used low-carb vegan or vegan keto to manage PCOS? How did your body adjust and what changes did you notice? Thanks. :)
And it’s not like good ravenous, I feel more of carb messing up my mental states. I started adding more raw into my diet and started eating sprouted beans which upped my carb intake a lot suddenly. I felt good in the beginning but my mental health is unstable when I’m not doing keto. Dose anyone feel this way with legumes and beans ? Should I cut them and add tofu more ? Or maybe just eat seed sprouts and less beans ?
What do you eat all day ?
I am just at the very beginning of trying to start Keto, and I’ve noticed that one of the Vegan milks I drink has sugar in it. Will even just one serving of this means I won’t achieve ketosis?
I'm going keto for a month(1395 calories a day, 75g fat, 130g protein, 50g carbs) but I am worried as I tried going low carb before and really struggled! If anyone has any places where they've found meal plans before I'd really appreciate it- I've tried using ChatGPT and it's okay but it often gets the calculations wrong. Thank you!
I plan to start the vegan Keto diet this coming Tuesday, when I next do my food shop. If anyone has any useful hints or tips to share, please do!
I also have to follow a low fructan and GOS diet, due to those triggering my IBS.
Because of this, I am limited to what vegan milks I can consume, and some of the vegan milks I can have, also contain rice in the ingredient list - would this be conserved not Keto friendly, even if it is a relatively small amount of rice? I have added a screenshot of the ingredient list to an almond milk as an example.
Hi everyone! I’ve been vegetarian for over a decade and had previously been vegan for a few years before that. Recently my doctor told me I needed to go low carb and low sugar (he specifically recommended keto for this), but I’ve also been wanting to return to vegan/plant based. My partner is also vegetarian so they are pretty much down for whatever I make, but I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Any advice or recommendations? Quick dinner recipes/meal prep ideas would be amazing as well lol.
If so how much ? And what’s your other meals like? I rarely eat any carb but veggie or berries. It’s been hard to get enough calorie and i had thought adding quinoa or lentil
Raw vegan community isn’t for me, they won’t understand I need to be low carb and they keep push me eating lots of fruit.( I have done that few years ago and hate it, made my blood sugar spike every second). But I wanna try raw as much as possible. Just one thing idk if protein. Raw vegan emphasize on getting more carbs and less fat and protein, but since im doing lowcarb-keto, im not sure who’s much protein I should take. I’m currently bedridden most of time and ill ,5”2 115-120lb. My tdee was around 1300-1400. I was trying to get 80g protein before transition to raw. I wonder if I need same amount of protein?
If I may pry.
Why do you choose not to eat carbs? After all this can be a pretty restrictive diet, both vegan and keto.
Personally, I find that if I eat high carb foods, I end up hungrier than before, and have to eat something else. Usually something higher in fat or even protien. Some nuts for example. Don't know why, individual metabolism I guess.
I imagine a low carb/keto vegan diet is going to be high in them. I know they are regarded heart healthy, but is that true in high amounts (however you define high)?
Thanks
I started to be vegetarian on may maybe and now I want to be committed to vegan keto. In my main language there isn’t much of contents about vegan and 0 about vegan keto 😅
I just wanna ask you beautiful healthy people if you know any accounts I can follow to to learn more etc 🙈
I hope you got what I mean 🤍
Thank you for reading.
