A place to make living vegan in Houston a little more rewarding.

What is veganism?

A philosophy and way of living that seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.

Feeding the hungry and/or homeless

Would anyone be interested in gathering to pass out vegan snacks/meals and drinks to people downtown? I was working on starting a group but I didn't realize that Meetup charges monthly. I found a free alternative but I'm not sure how much traffic it gets. Anyways, let me know here if you'd be interested and we can work together to organize.

Thanksgiving menus

Hello! I'll be in Houston for Thanksgiving. Are there any restaurants that have preorders for Thanksgiving takeout meals for 1-2 servings? Everything I've seen so far are for larger families.

Short visit to Houston

Hi vegans of Houston! I will be on a short visit to Houston in November. I will be mostly staying in the area south of airport and Sam Houston highway. Are there any good vegan places, you would recommend for dinner?

For those with who like/want Babybel DF

There's a coupon in the HEB app that's buy one get one free. They're not at the HEB by me yet, but if you like em and want to try them, there's a coupon.

Vegan Friends

30M vegan here looking for vegan friends in the H-Town. No one in my circle of friends or family is vegan, so I’d like to interact with more vegans regularly. I have a SO, so I’m not looking for romance; I’m just looking for some vegan pals. I like to exercise, skateboard, make music, and work on math in my free time. Comment or DM me.

Houston vegetarian enchiladas

Not sure if vegetarian questions are allowed here, or only vegan. If not apologies in advance delete away.

Question is simple. Best vegetarian cheese enchiladas in Houston, meaning Ranchero or tomatillo sauces with no meat, tortillas and beans with no lard, and rice with no chicken stock.

Vegetarian for over 20 years, but not vegan.

St. Patrick's day

Anyone know of a place serving vegan corned beef tomorrow? I'm too lazy to cook.

For those excited about the plant based HEB meals

I caved and bought 3 (there was a coupon!). I got 2 of their little Lunchable type deals and a lot mein. Haven't had the lo mein yet, mostly bc it looks disappointing, but I have to say, don't waste the 7$ or whatever it was for the Lunchables. They're Tofurky slices, cut into triangles, Chao cheeses, Wheat Thins, and their hummus (which was awesome, not knocking it) or, I believe, Boursin chive nondairy cheese spread, and 5 grapes. I should have known that it would be 2 pieces of Tofurky and a slice od Chao and 15 Crackers, but I expected more. Just a warning.

Survey on plant-based meat and GMOs

We are two students from Denmark who investigate the consumer perception of plant-based meat and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). If you have a few minutes, please take our survey. Your opinion matters, and we would be grateful :)

Any fine dining recommendations?

We normally go to Kiran's, and they have a good selection of items. Are there any other good fine dining restaurants that are Vegan friendly?
