Our dog has a food intolerance, and we suspect it may be flax... but it seems every vegan kibble option has it! Is a home-cooked diet our only option?
I’m going
Hi all,
Our dogs allergy test came back that he is allergic to all meats, including kangaroo and fish even. He is also allergic to eggs and lactose so the vet has put him on a vegan diet! We have normal vegan kibble and some soft canned stuff. He is struggling with his new diet so I am wondering if anyone has found some favored treats, recipes, or vegan dog food that their baby enjoys? (He is OK to have soy.)
And FYI - we are not looking for vet advice, we have already spoken to the vet and understand his limitations. Just looking to discuss with others that are knowledgeable with the trial and error of vegan options for dogs. :) Thank you in advance!

My older girl is almost 14 and just on the cusp of potential/future kidney issues according yo her last blood work. I'm vegan and she loves/craves/begs for the foods I eat, dog friendly fruits/vegetables, even likes little bits of tofu! I'm wary of the vet-approved chemical/laden "prescription diets" and have wanted to get her off meat for awhile but am a bit paralyzed - don't want to cause harm! Any info/stories /points in a good direction would be welcomed. Thank you!
Hey all. I have a 4 year old Bull Terrier who needs to put on some weight. Any suggestions on brands or specific choices? Much thanks!!
Hi everyone,I am the co-founder of Ganddee(ganddee.com), a sustainable lifestyle app. Think of it as the Google Maps for sustainable places. While other platforms promote new green products, we believe that sustainable consumption should also include vegan shops, second-hand shops, charity shops, rental places, etc., in addition to sustainable new products. We feature around 2,000 physical stores and hundreds of online businesses in UK, some offering special discounts. We have a special discount from Kind2 /Beco and many more!!!
I would love to receive feedback on the app and would be grateful if you could suggest any vegan pet stores online/physical in the UK. We have been relying on our community to suggest new places and inspire each other. All the suggestions can be done through app.
If you are a owner of a vegan store, I would love to connect and explore how I can help you reach a wider audience.

is there any out there that don't use Peas. Lentils. Chickpeas. Potatoes or sweet potatoes in their top 10 ingredients
Hi there! We’re a couple of volunteers starting vegan campaigning to mainstream plant-based pet food. We’re hoping to target existing vegans who own pets, as well as the big vegan campaign organisations.
If you’re interested in joining some initial conversations, we’d love you to get involved! We already have a number of ideas but would love to think up new ones and develop our current thinking, as well as build a small team of passionate people around this topic!
Why is this important?
👉 30%+ of UK meat production is for dog and cat food!
👉 19.8% of EU arable land is used for producing dog/cat food
👉 Pets carbon footprint is mainly comes from meat-based pet food: 51% for cats and 64% for dogs.
You can contact me, Jacob, at jacobwarn@gmail.com or join our WhatsApp group for people interested at this link and we'll try and arrange an initial call in the coming couple of weeks: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GA1Z01tRFWK8XO8FwgwOmO
Thanks!!! 😄
25% of all meat in the US is consumed by pets! Can you be a good vegan and feed your animals meat? Can they be healthy without meat? Here is a good update on the latest research:
Hi all!
I'm new here and wanted to share my favorite vegan treat that I've found.
Spirulina Dailies: These are a crunchy vegan biscuit from Chippin. They've done wonders for my dog's stomach and also he no longer eats grass? Here's the link: https://chippinpet.com/products/spirulina
Hi Vegan Dogs Community!
Our 14 year old pupper has been on a fully plant based diet for not quite 6 months before just this weekend being diagnosed with pancreatitis (among a couple of other potential organ things going on).
The vet has told us he'll have to go on a low fat diet from now on and of course gave us some non-vegan prescription wet food. Does anyone else have a dog that has pancreatitis? If so what are you feeding them?
Just looking to get any advice as we would like to keep him vegan if possible!
Every year I take my dog to the vet for a blood test. She's 5 now, and every blood test results were good but every year her levels of phosphorus and white blood cells are declining. This year, her phosphorus levels are just at the limit.
I give her Benevo tins ( https://www.veggiepets.com/image/cache/catalog/vp-products/!temp/benevo-duo-can-369g-01-500-o-500x500.jpg ) and I'm not sure it is fortified in phosphorus. I don't think so, as there's no mention of it on the tin.
I've tried many brands but that's the one she likes the most. Can you recommend me other brands that I might not have tried? Or maybe something to add to her diet to bring her the necessary nutrients to counter this decline? I think quinoa has phosphorus?
I'm in Belgium and probably don't have access to every brands.
Thanks
I'm not very clued up on plant based diets for dogs, but I imagine like humans virtually all dogs can be vegan and healthy. We're in the UK so are there specific brands for us here? Any help appreciated.
After spending hours scouring around for nutritional information, we settled on Wild Earth. Our shipment arrives tomorrow, so we're excited how they take to the new food (phased in) compared to the old stuff that they honestly don't give two barks about.
Re: puppy nutrients, we're going to up the fat with a an Omega 6 and Omega 3 oil. And for the calcium and phosphorous, we're giving them some of Dr. Harvey's Formative Years Puppy & Young Dog Supplement.
We're really excited about the Wild Earth dog food, and equally excited that the other plant-based foods meet nutrition requirements for dogs - compared to "industry-leading" dog foods. Turns out, even the vegan ones meet the AAFCO guidelines. This is great news! After speaking to vets and people at the pet shops, everyone's pretty much said, focus on how well your pup is growing. If they're not growing, feed them more (or something else). And if they are growing, then you're doing something right! And if they're looking really good and acting really good and their bloodwork comes back in check, then you're doing fantastic!
Our puppies were brought up with Hill'S Prescription Diet I/D Gastrointestinal Health Dry Dog Food. They were separated from their momma at around 5 weeks, so the thought was that they needed this prescription-level food. When we brought the pups home from the vet, they mentioned that all that was really important was paying close attention to the protein, fat and fiber.
Does anyone have any guidance on how to feed a puppy vegan or vegetarian-friendly dog food?
Our pups health is the most important factor for us, but ideally we'd really like to feed them vegetarian food or vegan food if possible.
thank you all for your help!
