Share some cool facts and some secret history about western!
Thoughts on geo 2090? I saw that there are assignments that are 1500 words and a final project. How harshly will everything be marked and is a 90 + achievable?
hey so long story short i’m behind after midterms yada yada. and im honestly so burnt out from my stacked semester that i don’t care anymore, how can i fix this? Now i have yet to fail an exam, and i do study, but i js do things way later than i should be and dont give a shit. i think its because when i do give it my all i do mid asf on the exams, and when i dont try that much i’ll do mid asf regardless. this has played a big toll on my academic journey cuz its got me questioning wtf am i doing fr. like my emotions are kind of detached from all the school work in a way if that makes sense. I am aware of being behind and the situations i’m in, and my brains telling me to stress out and lock in but i just cant? i wanna try and fix this tho im 2nd year finance for context.
Wondering if it’s possible to request for a refund on clubs that I joined and paid for membership last week
Any of yall get approached by mormons tdy?💀💀💀
Curious to know how much you guys have spent this semester. This can include rent, food, entertainment, and other costs.
Looking to hear about your experiences. Is it worth it?
What do you do in London with friends? How's life in London? My sister says there's not much but drinking/bars. Is she right?
i got my marks back for an assignment worth 25% on one of my elective courses and they were not what i expected considering i worked really hard. the midterm also didn’t go too well. this course has been hell since the first class and i was wondering if i should drop it and take another course over the summer to make up for the 0.5 credit. will this affect my overall gpa?
Is this possible? I am paying for it at the end of the day, can I move money between the two accounts?
on the syllabus it says if you miss up to 2 labs out of 10 you will automatically fail the course but today is the last lab and we only had 9 labs. i’m so confused. will i fail the course?
hey, im specializing in cb (second yr) and want to do honours spec next yr, however rn my modular avg doesn't seem to be around 75 - do you all think i should still req HS in CB or not (I'm its far but I've been thinking). also is it okay to request it in third year going fourth (so next yr)?
I'm a TA this semester. The students in this online class have to complete a quiz every week for practice. It's graded on completion, and each quiz is worth 2% of the final grade. I personally review each submission and give feedback based on where the students are making errors. The quizzes always end with a reflection question, and I do my best to answer student's questions about what they're struggling with.
This is easy, right? You get 20% of your final grade just for answering every question each week - doesn't matter if you're right or wrong. The course is difficult for a first year class, and it's entirely online so this is a very generous participation component.
I have corrected some students multiple times about using ChatGPT or other external sources... the answers given are just so wrong, I can tell that they haven't actually completed the quiz independently (a requirement stipulated in the syllabus).
A student this week, who I have corrected multiple times before, submitted their quiz answer with "Thanks for uploading the files! I'll analyze the table and summarize" in the middle of it.
When we (profs, TAs) try to bring these students up for cheating, we are always told "they are time stressed" "they are anxious about their grades". Sorry, but these excuses don't fly here. There are 12 quizzes and you only need to attempt 10 of them for 20% of your grade. For free. The due dates are flexible and the grade doesn't even reflect if you were right or wrong.
They are paying me $44 per hour to read something and give feedback and THE STUDENT HASN'T EVEN READ IT THEMSELVES.
I feel like these students must think I am stupid or a chump or both.
Why are you here if you don't even want to do the bare minimum? This course is a pre-requisite for a competitive grad program (that typically works with vulnerable people) - this student identified themselves as taking this course with that goal. If you don't even care to try the bare minimum here - you expect to graduate and be trusted with none of the building blocks you need for the grad program? If ChatGPT can do the job, it won't even be a job by the time you graduate.
WHY ARE YOU HERE?
Anyways, back to giving my best effort for the students who actually give a damn. It's harder and harder to do so when their fellow students treat my time like it's worthless. Thank god the strike earned us a raise...
**sorry I can't ID the course, but it would doxx me more than I've already doxxed myself**
anyone know anyone whos gotten an interview yet or heard back this year?
Hi, I applied to the MSc applied math program for January intake. The start date is one month away. Has anyone heard back from them?
Hi! with today being the last day to drop a first-term course, I’m considering dropping one because I’m unsure if I’ll pass the exam (it’s worth 75%, and I don’t feel confident despite studying...)
Currently, I’m taking 4 courses (2.0 credits), so dropping this course would bring me down to 3 courses (1.5 credits) for this semester. I’m going on an exchange next semester, where I’m required to take the equivalent of at least 2.0 Western credits.
I’m worried about whether dropping this course will affect my full-time student status. I have a permeant disability, and I know OSAP considers students with permanent as full-time with a 40% course load (which would be 1.5 credits). However, the OSAP site says "may" classify, and that uncertainty is worrying me.
I unfortunately debated too long about this and am not sure if the finance department will respond to my question before the deadline tonight. Should I take the gamble and drop the course, or will that put me at risk of losing my full-time status for OSAP as well as with Western, as I know they are considered two different. I have satisfy all my program requirements, so this course is just an elective ? Any advice or insight would be really appreciated!
what are the benifits of doing my second year at huron as an aeo bmos student
what the title says, i bit off way more than i can chew this semester and am in a pickle. i'm in alright standing in my other courses but still need to put the work in for their finals. calc however is beating my ass. i need a 70~80% on the final to pass. i already plan on getting help but i want to know if this is even realistic to aim for, or if i should just drop it.... but that comes with the caveat of only being able to take it again next year lol. thanks
doing bad in my courses except psyc. as in 40s on midterms. good in everything else like labs and assignments but lol. straight a’s in hs. didnt even go to parties or do stupid shit. wtf do i do. i can work hard for finals but this shit is terrifying. trying not to stress but i got 70s on finals in hs cuz my marks were high enough to where i wouldn’t rlly try. still don’t know what to do.
Hey, was wondering if anyone took this course last year and if they could provide any insights into how the marking was for the assignments.
Thanks so much!
engineering -> CS transfer for ivey? non-AEO
Hi, im a first year in engineering and im non-aeo. I was told that ivey hba are generally more lenient toward engineers with is 83-84 admission avg, but would I still get the leniency if I dropped a 0.5 course and took it in the summer? (Statics)
I emailed HBA and they said it doesn’t really matter as long as I have 10.0 credits but that it varies year to year and they recommended me to follow the default module to be considered an engineer
I’m lowkey getting fucked in statics rn and I don’t know if I can meet a good avg w/ statics + phys 2 which is said to be super hard in contrast to phys1 so I was considering transferring to CS since I would have gone to SE anyway
I’m not super focused on what degree im pursuing as long as I do ivey + something I enjoy, but I’m just not sure if that’s achievable in engineering right now
I am currently filling out the course feedback survey for graduate level course and it said that department and Dean of college can not be able to identify individual responses and not sure if this is true. So, does that truly mean the submitted course feedback survey would be truly anonymous even if it is passed on from department to college of Dean or even university level for review one by one level ? I would possibly doubt it from my personal judgement.
Are there any spots to smoke or vape on campus? Everywhere I go there’s a no smoking sign, so I don’t even know if western allows smoking on campus.
Hey everyone,
I’m a first year student, and I’ve noticed that the refund policy covers the entire academic year. However, I only attended the fall semester and have no intention of attending the winter semester. Since I haven’t paid for winter yet, can I just not pay and avoid being charged for the semester?
Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows if this is possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Please please any tips on studying for the final? Really need high grade. Is prep worth it? what should I do? questions seem more application based then midterm.
trying to order package online and was wondering how this is affected by canada post strike? it says not to send to a po box do the residences use these?
