Hi all/ is it just me on jpa or everyone is hearing an alarm
ik that one library parking place is free but only on Sundays, any place free on Saturdays?
I’m going to the football game and was wondering if anything is happening tomorrow night afterwards?! Any leads or ideas are appreciated and feel free to dm me for socials if you’d prefer to share it there!!
Ik this sub will be biased- i am asking in UVA and VT subs. I’m deciding between VT and UVA and I know that both have very good academics, especially for my major, and I would be well off with either (UVA is ranked higher but still.)
Taking away all the academics I want to know the differences of the colleges in terms of diversity, what the campus is like, dorms, culture, the city around it, social life, and community feeling of the school.
Most importantly: diversity- statistically UVA has more diversity than VT but when i visited the campuses VT looked so much more diverse than UVA so I was confused. Location- Vt is in blacksburg and I feel like it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere? at least compared to UVA in Charlottesville where there is a cute town with shops everywhere. Culture- Do both schools have a sense of community and school spirit?
Are we allowed to use the restroom during SDAC exams? I feel like 2 hours is pretty long without any breaks.
Hi everyone!
I’m a third year student at UVAs school of education and human development and I’m looking for a roommate to take over my current roommates lease when she moves out.
Some info about me: I like to spend my down time at home, but I also enjoy going out occasionally and hosting dinner/small get togethers. During the week I have classes, go to the gym, and go to a local ceramic studio.
As for housing: I’m currently looking for a roommate for my 2 bed 1 bath apartment off of Arlington blvd from June 2025-June 2026. My current roommate is moving out in June for grad school. I have fully furnished the shared spaces so you would only need your personal items and kitchen supplies! I’m hoping to find someone that is quiet and tidy, but would also like to be friends.
About the unit: The pet limit for this location is 2 pets, so unfortunately no other animals are allowed. Rent is a little over $900 a month plus electricity and internet (about $120 a month). Base rent ($900) includes water, sewage, pest control, parking, and trash. This location has on-site laundry, a pool, and a BBQ (which is wonderful for the summer)! This location is also on UVAs bus route (gold) which is super convenient. Also must be ok with living with someone in the LGBTQ community.
I have attached a photo of the units floor plan. The room that is available is the smaller room (10’x12’) but I pay more in rent to make up for the difference. The unit is also on the 3rd (top) floor so we get lots of natural light, no bugs, and no noisy neighbors above.
Reach out with any questions!
Hi, does anyone know where I could park overnight the friday night before a game? Preferably free and as close to O-hill as possible
Would I be able to leave the car overnight at JPJ? if so where is best
There is a special service this Sunday about the history behind Halloween and its traditions. It's going to be a fun topic. Plus, there will be free lunch afterward. Please feel free to join if you are interested.
Hello! How long does it take to withdraw from UVA? I have done the steps within SIS and also talked to my advising dean, I am now waiting to hear back for approval (according to the email they sent me). Any chance anyone knows how long this will take?
thats all
I’m looking for some advice on transferring. I’m currently in my first year at NVCC and thinking about applying to transfer after just one year. The application deadline is March 1, but I’ll only have completed one semester by then. What does it mean to transfer after one year? If I complete two semesters by next year, should I apply in March 2026? The school of commerce does not accept transfers for spring.
If anyone is interested, please reach out!
I grew up outside the US and want to improve my english skills. I know I could test and then place higher in my native language but learning english would be more beneficial to my long term goals.
I found a few on CAPS but I'm pretty sure there's more available because I know about an ADHD support group that isn't listed on CAPS. However, I don't know how to find the others. I'm looking for anything on dysfunctional families and anxiety in particular
I was wondering if there's any groups that discuss texts or teach practices from these disciplines. I am in the philosophy club but it seems inactive. Closest other thing I've found is the CSC but that seems to require payment for the classes which I can't afford. Thanks.
Hey, so I’m currently a first year looking at off grounds housing for next year. Right now, I have 3 other ppl I know that can house with me in an apartment (lf 4 bedroom) but all the places we’re finding are either 1k+ per bed or 700 per bed but without being renovated. Does anyone know any places around 850 to 950 that are somewhat decent. Also, is anyone looking to pass down a lease dm me 🙏🙏
Thanks
Does UVA do anything for homecomings? I just transferred here so I’m kind of out of the loop but I know other schools usually have events through the weekend that you can go to in addition to the football game and I was just wondering if they do anything like that here? Thanks!
Hey I was wondering if anybody here as any insights about funding scopes for PhD in Architecture at UVA.
I have something wrong going on medically, I don’t think it’s dire but it’s getting kinda bad. I’ve made an appointment but it’s months away. Is there anywhere I can go and get immediate care that not the emergency room. If my only option is the emergency room is it a long wait time?
Hi I am considering declaring a stat major as a pre-med and i was wondering if anyone else has done this and their thoughts on how easy it is?
Is this normal? It's been a month since some of my assignments have been graded, and in a few other classes such as DSA2, not a single assignment has been graded yet. Is this normal?
I have completed the Common App transfer application, and I noticed there weren’t any essays, just a section called ‘supplemental questions.’ Some of these questions asked about my individual background, why I chose the School of Engineering (in my case), what I plan to study, and my history and reasons for transferring to UVA. They were all very generic questions with limited space to respond, and I didn’t feel like I was given an opportunity to provide a unique response. I answered them to the best of my ability, but I’m concerned because I’ve seen other applicants mention writing essays, which I didn’t have the opportunity to do. I would appreciate any clarification on this. Thank you.
dm if at all interested, I paid abt $90 total for them but I'm willing to negotiate!!
What do the admission people want from applicants in the essay
i'm applying to uva and i fear i may be cooked im above average compared to others at my school but im too average when it comes to "smart kids" but UVA is literally my dream school- i put my stats below, what do you guys think? female, african american SAT - 1330 (probably going test-optional) GPA - 4.432 (my school doesn't do UW really) Class rank 47/534 (top 8%) In the Commonwealth Governor's School for 4 years, 12 APs, started my own club, in National Thespian Honor Society and National Math Honor Society, didnt get that many awards or honors, only like honor roll and the AP scholar Award and then various awards from my one year of NJROTC, was a girl scout camp counselor thats a pretty general overview, I think my essay was pretty good but im scared that if I don't submit my SAT score (even if they don't explicitly say it) ill automatically have my application kind of looked down on
hi there!! i’m a second-year looking into off-grounds options for next year, and this complex called University Heights looks decent from their available info, but i’m hoping to hear some honest reviews from anyone who has lived there!! thanks so much!
Hey everyone,
I'm currently deciding between applying Early Decision to UVA and attending the McIntire School of Commerce or going to Cornell's Nolan Hotel School, with the goal of breaking into investment banking (IB), private equity (PE), or consulting. I’ve also considered Cornell’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, but the acceptance rates are so low that I don’t think it’s realistic for me.
I have very strong business-oriented extracurriculars, though none of them are hospitality-related, except for being the president of the entrepreneurship club at my school. Eventually, I’m looking to secure job placements in NYC, so that’s a major factor in my decision-making process.
Given my goals of working in IB, PE, or consulting, I’m trying to figure out which path would give me the best opportunities post-graduation. For those with experience in these fields, which school would you recommend and why?
Any advice on the strength of alumni networks, recruiting, and career outcomes from either McIntire or Nolan—particularly with a focus on NYC placements—would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance!
It asks me for a username and password. I tried entering my netbadge but that didn't work. I figure it isn't possible because you need profiles installed?
I did pretty bad on the first exam (worse than any test score from any other class), so I am wondering, how did the people who got A and B on his exams manage to do so well? What should I do to get better exam grades? Should I pull an all-nighter cram session?
FYI, I looked at his slides and the homework questions to prepare for the first exam so take that in mind.
