to be fair, crowd dispersed fairly well once all the lifts were opened
What’s the best weather app or website for tracking weather at Snowbird/Alta? Traveling for the first time there this week and seeing a lot of conflicting data between sites.
saw some KSL classifieds for deer valley day passes, should I be wary of purchasing lift tickets that are resold?
How come basically all of the main lifts at Snowbird are on hold but Alta is essentially unscathed?
Seeing a forecast of wind at Brighton this morning. How likely do you think the lifts will be open and the runs will be safe/enjoyable?
Looks like most of the mountains will have rain throughout the day. What’s the best option to shred some pow and not getting soaked with rain?
What time would the parking lots fill up tomorrow at snowbasin considering the potential powder overnight?
Edit: nvm found parking and going to solitude
Hi there, I'll be visiting SLC from the 8th, and plan on going to Brigthon Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday (10,11,12).
I'd like to know the best way to get there and when.
Considering it's week days maybe it won't be packed.
What would you recommend us to do?
We'd like to rent a car, but what kind of vehicle shall we get?
If we are allowed to get there on a rental, what time should we be at canyons entrance?
If this is not possible could we take a bus? If so where and what time would be best?
Hoping someone has a couple lift tickets for sale 2/2/25 at a discount!
I have a parking pass to solitude. Not making it up today. Can change to your license plate if you DM me. Venmo $20.
Free 4+ pass. DM and I can assign new plate.
The officer at the bottom today doing a better job of separating into two lanes. The left lane is for the sticker peeps and the right lane for non sticker peeps. Hope this helps! 🫶🏽❄️
Hi Guys,
I am here on a 3 day ski trip. Did Park City today, doing Deer Valley on Sunday, but would REALLY like to do Snowbird or Brighton tomorrow. It seems like the canyons have the best skiing that Utah has to offer, and tomorrow is looking to be the best day of the weekend per Evan Thayer. Could anyone provide me some relevant info regarding traveling through LCC/BCC after some heavy snowfall (as it appears will happen tonight)? I have a few questions:
Thanks in advance, and sorry if these questions have already been asked. I did some searching through the subreddit first, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
Plan to clamp the edge back in place and put wood screws in between the edge teeth. Curious if anyone thinks these are worth even trying to fix. Thanks!
I'm flying into SLC tomorrow morning, landing at 11am. Planning on picking up the rental car, and then debating whether it'd be worth driving to Snowbird or Brighton given the snowfall
Also considering Park and Ride but not sure how bad traffic will be heading there and back -- don't want to be stuck waiting for a bus home, any thoughts?
First off, I love Brighton’s required parking reservations. It solved so much canyon traffic congestion last season, and the 5 free passes available for season passholders were a bit logistically annoying to manage but doable and worth it overall. However, it seems like the system changed for the worse this year.
My main question is why there are some days available where parking is available to buy, but not available to use a season pass spot for? There’s spots available for purchase at the end of February, but season pass reservations are booked out til end of March. If there’s parking available in the lot and you have a season pass res available, why can’t you use that? Seems very cash grabby and illogical. I already shelled out for a pass, I shouldn’t have to pay for parking if I have an available season pass res.
Anyone driving to brighton tomorrow early trying to find a carpool from salt lake be happy to throw some bones your way 24m if it matters:)
Anyone heading up for first chair on saturday need a 3/4th for cheaper parking? Just looking for an early bird ride up to alta to skip the first bus trip up the canyon. Happy to bring beer/coffee or pay for the parking fee. Lmk!
Ps. is there a megathread for weekly ride share inquiries? been lurking for a min and doesn’t seem to be active very frequently?
Saturday is our last day of a week-long trip. We’ve had good days despite the modest conditions. Where would you head on Saturday? I’m concerned the canyons might have delayed opening or otherwise be a mess. We have a good AWD snow tire vehicle. Thanks!
Hi All, I’m heading up to Utah/Snowbird for the first time next week and was wondering how the ski buses are in snow? I’m seeing that Wednesday, they might be getting anywhere from 3-10 inches of snow. Would you recommend taking the UTA ski bus or driving myself?
I know Super Bowl Sunday is a much quieter day for most ski resorts, but what about BCC/LCC? I’m expecting bigger crowds due to the 🤞🏼🤞🏼powder coming, but not sure what to expect since it’ll be my first time riding in UT. Also, that Sun will be our first of 5 days and planning to hit Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton (intermediate snowboarders). Any recs on which to hit on Super Bowl Sun vs weekdays?
You know the drill, Buttman back in action. Skiing was mediocre but still enjoyable, and we may have some good news on the horizon (see forecast at the end). Buttman may not return to Basin until next week, as conditions will likely be poor until that second system comes through. Details in the forecast, but the system through the 3rd is looking warm, mushy, windy, and generally crap. Fingers crossed for the 2nd one.
Edited to remove some pics, I had too many and they weren't showing up on mobile.

I’m flying into SLC this Saturday. I’m trying to figure out where to go Sunday as I am seeing that there is going to be some snow Saturday throughout the day.
I’ve never been to any of these mtns but I’m well aware of how busy the cottonwoods can get if there’s any snow, especially after this dry spell.
Out of the three listed which of the 3 would you say I’m most likely going to be able to get the best day in ?
Anything info helps!
Thanks
Nick
Hey folks. First time visiting and I'm heading to SLC for work. I have some downtown on Friday before flying out at midnight and an thinking of hitting Brighton for some night skiing.
I have a rental car. Are the roads manageable given the lack of snow recently and is Friday evening traffic a cause for concern? Trying to avoid heading into the canyon and not getting out in time for the flight 🫣.
Thanks!
I’m going to be skiing in Utah first week of February for 5 days M-F of next week and trying to decide where to go. My Ikon base pass comes with the options of Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird. I consider myself an intermediate skier slightly more on the advanced side? I ski moguls, trees and single black runs at places like Aspen Snowmass, Copper, and Winter Park. Comfortable on all blues and a few single blacks at Aspen Highlands. Still not comfortable on double blacks. I know that a lot of Snowbird’s terrain may be too advanced for me. I’ve heard Utah’s single blacks are the equivalent of some Colorado double blacks and so are some of Snowbird’s blues even. I’m worried that if I miss out on Snowbird I’ll miss Utah’s grandiose views and such that I might not be getting at the other two. Would it be worth it to go to Snowbird for the experience or should I not waste a day on a mountain that might be scary and not as fun?
Also is the snow better at any of these over the other? I don’t do well on icy/slick. I see the snow is not great this year. Will conditions be better at one over another next week? What parts of the mountain(s) should I avoid?
Hi all, I am an east coast guy(sorry). Currently wherein Oakley goggles with 45% light transmission lenses out here as it's mostly overcast. Will I regret those lenses in LCC in February? Am I overthinking this?
