Was reading a few posts bemoaning gotsoccer/paytoplay and comparing it to youthsoccerrankings...
One about pay to play soccer, one about gotsoccer's failed focus (from years ago, and still accurate in my mind).
And wondering why YSR was shut down. In my experience it gave a pretty fair comparison of teams and predicted scores, and the fact it was based on SCORES and not points from participating in gotsoccer tournament made it much more useful when looking at my son's games and their future opponents.
Anyone have insight into why YSR was shut down? (and on a related note, anyone have insight as to why gotsoccer hasn't seemingly progressed in years beyond the same old tired broken formula and seems to have even gone backwards where 'upcoming games' doesn't even show anything 99% of the time nowadays).
Out of curiosity, what are the best regarded youth soccer clubs in Boise?
I am building a business that is going to eliminate the "pay to play" model in youth sports. Our platform allows youth athletes to access high quality, sport-specific training and drills from their favorite coaches and athletes in the pros and NCAA. The goal is to even the playing field for youth athletes no matter their socioeconomic or geographic background. I am already working with professional coaches and NCAA star athletes who want to help virtually coach youth athletes across the country and now we are looking for youth athletes who want to get drills and instruction on their phone from home. If you/your youth athlete is interested in getting instruction from the best players and coaches in the country please reach out to me. Thank you!
8U Academy $$$ soccer which specifically states are for kids with mental and physical agility. The team is much harder core than the rec team.
There’s a kid with “something “ like on the spectrum or maybe uncontrollable ADHD. He boots the ball randomly off the field, leaves games to pet dogs in the middle of play consistently etc.
It’s 4v4 so when he’s on the field it’s 3v4 and we lose every time. He distracts the kid and coaches. He never plays his position or coverage.
I sent an email to league saying he is distracting from kids and coaching time. And wouldn’t you know it, they pool him with my kid every fricking game just to bust my balls i guess.
So, AITL and do all kids still get trophies these days?
When a player is offsides but not involved in the play (and therefore not flagged), would getting back behind the ball now make them eligible to receive the next pass?
TLDR: What are the best first skills and drills to work on with a 4 and 5 year old that is new to the sport but wants to play?
My daughters just started soccer on Tuesday (we started late didn't even think it would happen with COVID). They both took great to their practice this week and games today!
I know they will eventually play themselves into cardio shape, fun factor is most important part and parent's being supportive. But their footwork is quite behind AND they want to work on it together.
So I know this is not a shocker to anyone here, but my U6 boys are all over the place and have a tough time following instructions. Ive noticed that other teams dont have this issue as much as we do. I try really hard to be a fun coach, I started with this team when they were U4, Im afraid Ive been too lax and too fun with them to the point that now as we move up in age groups we are actually seeing competition and are unable to line up or practice basic tasks (throw ins, goal kick, etc.) Any advice?
I am trying to get into a soccer club and soon I will tryout for them. But if I do make it the fee is 1600 a year and I cant afford that. I’ve heard of players who have played but they couldn’t afford it, so the club payed their fees. (My friends brother) How can I do this? Do I just have to really impress them or will I have to fill some forms out?
I just recently was asked to help set up fields for our local youth clubs. I am tracking down info for how to do this and was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction as to where to find resources that include how to's are helpful suggestions. Thanks
United Soccer coaches fall highschool ranking committees
4 for the east coast 3 for the midwest 1 for the west coast
No surprise, the "USA TODAY/UNITED SOCCER COACHES SUPER 25" is composed almost entirely of east coast and midwest teams. (You will have to scroll a bit to reach the HS list)
https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/rankings-committees/
Also, who could forget this map: https://twitter.com/USYNT/status/911260340981202945?s=20
Yet... Final Percentage of USMNT players by state/country of origin (2008-2018) shows California as the easy leader for scouting national level talent. (Scroll down to "Where in the U.S. are players from?")
What this has to do with development: National rankings lists with regional biases lead to overlooking obvious hot beds of US talent and limit opportunity for the best players, programs, and coaches.
Any thoughts, contrary data, and similar data welcome.

My little person starts soccer camp Monday. She has played in school, during PE, but not with a team or anything. That being said, she LOVES it!
We shopped yesterday for shin guards and cleats (and shorts and socks and a ball to take with her). It was a little overwhelming. I did some research (mostly soccer.com, I think) but there are so many TYPES of shin guards (straps, no straps, with/without stirrups with ankle protection, etc.) and cleats (is there a best that isn't $60?).
What shin guards should I be looking at? While we are at it, are there any generally recommended cleats?
Thanks--and my daughter thanks you, too!
Hey everyone, I posted here a few months ago about a soccer specific recruiting platform I was building that would go above and beyond current recruiting apps offered to aspiring college soccer players. The app is live and you can signup and get every feature for free during the Beta period. In the future, some of these features will be under a paid tier.
There will also be plans for soccer clubs and consulting companies in the near future so they can empower their players with the platform. I am also going to be at the USSoccer coaches convention next Saturday 1/12 for anyone who wants to meet up in person and chat about the platform and how it could help their athletes.
