3 losses in the first day growing pains or are we missing Mike Friday?
The Spain loss is particularly brutal since we usually could beat them/hang with them in the past

Based on recent matches, what do you think our PNC / RWC qualification team looks like?
Let's assume all players are available.
I'm thinking we could see something like this:
Ainu'u Pifileti Iscaro
Peterson Damn
Ryan Fanana Schultz Daniel
De Haas McGinty
Lopeti Besag
Kruse Mooneyham
Fricker
Bench:
Klein, Davis, Mullen, Helu, Mahoni, JP Smith, Carty, Storti
However, Christian Dyer is likely to be involved and Lawrence seems to prefer Kruse as a 13. Not totally convinced Fricker comes back, or gets the nod at 15 if he does.
Fantastic that we have so many options in the backline, despits the dearth at fullback. It does mean that some players who have performed well can miss out on selection though.
Boni, Dyer, Kruse can all return. Dyer and Kruse can also play 13. Noah Brown can step up and I think Malacchi Esdale will be fasttracked into the squad at some stage.
Pretty young/inexperienced side overall. Still being back is a good get. This tournament will definitely be a learning experience for the boys.
First of all, I am glad we got some more quality matches in for this year. Seeing the US playing more has not only increased my interest in the national team, but I could see the team get better match by match.
For one, I don’t think anyone expected us to go 3-0 from the conversations I followed. I am happy that we did. Taking revenge on Portugal after the repechage loss, beating Tonga for the first time since the late 90s, and grinding out a win vs a strong Spanish side that gave Fiji a run for their money a week prior. All of these were against these teams (minus Tonga) on their home turf. These are all huge in my book.
I think this has been a wonderful tour and the team is starting to get some more cohesiveness together. There were times where things were obviously not to par, but overall, I think we are heading in a good direction.
What are your thoughts?
Tomorrow marks the final test match of the year for our USA Eagles as they face off against Spain. I've created a Google Form for us to share our player match ratings, and you can find it attached to this post.
We had 14 submissions last week and I would like to see more as we wrap up!
🚨 New US Rugby Happy Hour Pod has dropped:
Just realized Saturday is hopefully the last eagles game on flo.
Huge opportunity coming up for USA rugby and MLR on this next broadcast deal.
Ideally we don’t get locked behind a paywall, but if we are, peacock would be the best choice as they can flex to nbc broadcasts for bigger events.
Being on fox similarly wouldn’t be so bad.
Beyond that I’m not sure what else makes sense
Title. Going to be in Madrid during the match but can not find anywhere that is selling tickets. Could anyone help please?
🚨 Thursday on US Rugby Happy Hour LIVE, USA Eagle and Old Glory DC Prop, Jack Iscaro joins us from Spain to talk Eagles’ August tour, Old Glory, and more!
Should be a great crowd
Any in game thoughts as we are in halftime? My thoughts....
Good competitive effort by the Eagles
This is exactly why so many in this forum are screaming for a change in the back three. It is clearly eveident you cannot play three small guys in your back three. Tonge easily goes through tackles out wide, puts so much pressure on the defense.
The outside in defense is not working. The outside man coming up early creates a dogleg and Tonga just throws the ball right over the outside man's head, with nothing but grass in front. Again too much pressure on the defense.
Eagles doing great in the set piece. Helu has been very disruptive in the lineout.
