Hey Urbandale! The Urbandale 4th of July Celebration Committee is looking for volunteers to help with setting up for the parade and driving golf carts along the route to make sure everyone is safely off the street. If you are interested in helping with this city tradition, please send me a direct message!
i have lived around the Urbandale public library area for over 20 years and always thought everything looked great. the landscaping and whatever else looks like it fit into the environment. when they started putting in the statues of the grandpa reading to the girl, and the kids playing around that ring, i thought it was nice. then they started installing all these jagged metal monstrosities and i have been so disgusted by them. there is nothing redeeming about them, they are a blight on the landscape. although i am opposed to vandalism of any kind, i have noticed that some of these works of "art" (psychological terrorism) have been tampered with and partially destroyed...i do not feel bad at all. get this crap out of our parks.
I’ve heard rumors the officer has been let go or put on leave. Are they keeping the dog?
Researchers at the University of Ottawa would like to conduct 90-minute telephone interviews with anyone who has used mifepristone (also known as the abortion pill, medication abortion, or medical abortion) to end a pregnancy.
You are eligible if you:
- Used mifepristone to have an abortion on or after January 1, 2015
- Were living in Iowa at the time
- Are sufficiently fluent in English or French to answer interview questions
- Have access to a telephone, Skype, or Zoom
During the interview, we will ask you series of questions about your background, your reproductive health history, and the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. We will also ask you to tell us about your experience obtaining an abortion with pills and we will ask you to tell us about ways in which you think that services could be improved.
All participants will receive a $40 gift certificate to www.amazon.com. Participation is both voluntary and confidential. Spots for this study are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that the abortion pill is not the same thing as emergency contraception, also known as Plan B or "the morning after pill."
If you would like more information about the study or research team, or if you are interested in participating, please contact us at ws-stu02@uottawa.ca. You may also contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Angel M. Foster, at angel.foster@uottawa.ca.
Anybody where I can find a list of past mayors?
Hello Urbandale! Since we're slowly withdrawing to our homes for a time, I thought I would do a little polling of the community from Reddit! Couple questions below; if you don't feel comfortable posting a comment, please feel free to DM me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I'm focusing more on local (Iowa and lower) elections.
Do you vote regularly? If so, what is the most local elections you vote in and why?
Why do you vote or not vote?
What is your general demographic group. This would be age (broad-ish range is fine) and gender. (if you are comfortable sharing; DM me if you don't want it in the comments).
Edit: I am currently working on finding ways to improve younger voter turnout by understanding why people don't currently vote. This is not something where I'm trying to push a certain candidate or point of view or shame those that don't vote; I'm doing this to better understand. Thank you for your time!
