Hello, I guess not very many people will care because it's really personal and a long finished series that I believe didn't left only good impressions, but I just finished UQ Holder and I am saaaaaaaad.
I get the series end with bittersweet on purpose but I have really been impacted by it. I know the tragedy of immortality is a theme that permeates the whole piece, but having that ending says out loud the quiet part about all the people left behind in time hits me way more than it should.
I know the manga isn't very good in a lot of ways and that with the years growing on me the sexualization teenage girls (childrens really) are feeling more and more icky. But I can't stop caring about those fucking fake people! I feel way too much!
I had a kinda same feeling when I finished Negima and Love Hina all those years ago and when I finished other sagas but not THIS bad.
Is it because it fundamentally talks about the passage of time and the inevitability of death?
Did anyone have similar feelings?
Does anyone know of a way to make a theme go away? Or at least make something of them?
Can someone pat me on the head and say everything is going to be alright?
(God I am fucking soapy)
(Those people don't exist)
(I have actual friends, an actual family, a pretty good life)
(Why do I feel so down)
Hello I just finish the mange and it was for me a really good mange (negima and uq holder) can we hope that one time we will have another manga of Ken akamatsu?
Do you guys have a similar manga like them because it was for me 2 month so good reading this
I am confused could somebody explain the timeline of eva and negis romance? If she was in love with him why didn't she end up with him when he was freed? I mean isn't it kinda disrespectful to be close to another person (touta) when she is 'with' negi.
I have finished the anime, ofcourse i didn't watch the first old one. I would like to know how exactly the Yulda witch controlled Nigi, and why do all the characters say that there is no hope of regaining Nikhi from her control? Did you merge with or something?
You see, I like Evangeline's character, and I wanted to know which chapters talked about her backstory (in other words, which chapters show flashbacks of her human life and her becoming a vampire) - I don't mind potential spoilers. Could you help me find them please ? Thank you
im confuse so i might re-read the manga because it's been a long time i read it , heard it was asuna but heard before chisame . what happen?
In the last chapter of uq holder, the last thing eva did before leaving was to confess that she loved nagi. If he was still alive post time skip, would she have choosen him instead of touta? Does she love nagi more than touta? I know she ended up with touta in the end but i still can't stop thinking about what if nagi was still alive. Please answer, this question is keeping me awake at night.
I'm actually surprised that the Negima/UQ Holder series doesn't have a bigger fanbase, I thought it would be relative big considering the scale of the manga, and even more surprised that UQ Holder seems generally disliked by the fanbase, I loved every single page of this series.
I LOVE the Dana's training arc, especially the love story between past Eva and present Touta, it scratched my itch for an Eva's romance way back in Negima, and it made me like her and Touta even more.
I started reading Negima way back in 2007 and it's a huge piece of my childhood. It took me a LOOONG time to know that there's a sequel called UQ Holder and I could never be happier. Now I've finished it and it actually feels like my childhood is closing, at least Akamatsu Ken didn't die like Kazuki Takahashi or Akira Toriyama.
Who would win in a fight between Dana and Ialda? What do you guys think?
So apparently Akamatsu made a comic of himself beating up a bunch of Westerners trying force political correctness onto Japanese people, does anyone have a link so I can see it?
I actually believe that the end of UQ Holder could have been more complete thanks to the development of Touta's life between the end of the war and the return of Evangeline, and a description of Negi's life after the final war (I'm really confused about this part and would really like it to be thorough).
So, do you think that the end of UQ Holder could be more complete thanks to the anime (if the season 2 finally comes out) ?
Ok so I continued reading UQ holder manga after sooo many years so I’m probably late so i depend on your future knowledge guys
So we know that pure blooded vampires / nobles came from Venus. According to Nikitis, originally an ancient civilization that eventually destroyed itself with a never-ending war in pursuit of immortality. Survivors then got sent to Inverse Venus / hell realm that would come to be known as the Demon world where the survivors became demon folk and other monsters.
So my question is, Since the Nobles were from Inverse Venus, so are they demons too? Given that Zazie Rainyday is second-in line princess in Demon World, is she as powerful as the Nobles? And it’s safe to assume that the Demons the Nobles came from is the same as the world of Zazie since Ba’al has a team called “Demon Barons” which confirms a form of hierarchy in the Demon world, hence princesses and stuff. Zazie is not thoroughly explored and explained but we all know she is one of the most powerful beings in negima world for some reason since all she’ve been doing is acting like a support type (a deus ex machina almost sometimes). Like she wasn’t really shown fighting unless you consider Poyo’s fight(?) but then again that’s her sister not her.
Main question is, is Zazie as powerful as Dana or Ba’al or is she more powerful?
She was a ghost,so she should've been able to possess whoever in 3A she wanted, thus she didnt merely possess 2 small boobs, but dozens of boobs depending on who's body she borrowed.Only crazy strong people with haxx powers like Eva,Asuna,Mana, and Zazie should've been immune.(I'm only half-joking)
OK seriously though how cool would it have been if her pactio was some sort of possession artifact that made her possessions stronger/longer or just gave her the ability at all? Imagine her controlling the bad guys or someone like Septendecim?
So i haven't really caught up with the new HQ, only bits and pieces to piece all the alt timelines but does it actually show the alt where Chisame dies to Mage of Beginning? I've been following this show since release and the Ala Alba... OVA, and it got pretty messy with a lot of the alt timelines. Ultimately my second question is; which ending did we fully end up with? One where Asuna comes back in time to live a life after Eva & Chao? The one where he saves his father & Chisame gets married to Negi? Or the one where Chao reveals magic to the world? (Honestly might be missing a 4th alt ending cause I swear there's another).
Just need clarification and honestly, don't have the time like I did in 06-07 to go through the entire manga and sequel (which I was super stoked about when I heard UQ Holder release because we all wanted to know who Negi chose).
Thank you so much yall (couldn't find any other info besides wiki fan pages and other explanation but no visuals in the manga depicting when Chisame sacrificed herself. Unlike showing their marriage photo, & the Alt ending with Asuna in Neo)
P.S - Also did Eva reveal in UQ she loved Nagi as well as Negi too? Cause' that was wild loving the man and then his son. Haha
One thing I really liked about Touta was that Kuromaru’s gender was never really an issue for him. He liked Kuromaru for Kuromaru. Even when Kuromaru was identifying more as male, Touta had no problems kissing Kuromaru or being physically close and there was no concerns or worries about being gay/bi.
In the end Kuromaru does fully identify as female and is female when finally doing it with Touta. Touta doesn’t care either way, and Kuromaru is happy to be with him, but I can’t help but wonder if that was the “only” way it could’ve turned out.
For a shounen action/fantasy/sci-fi series, I’m not sure how likely it would’ve been for Touta to be with Kuromaru in the end if Kuromaru identified as male. The way it turned out, you have a (essentially) straight male character with like three or four girls—not that surprising. Even though throughout the series Touta was, you could say, open minded towards Kuromaru and Touta himself probably would’ve been perfectly happy to be with Kuromaru even if male, as a shounen action/fantasy/sci-fi protagonist, I’m not sure if the author would’ve had him be “bi” (even if only with Kuromaru) and had them be intimate like they were with female Kuromaru.
What do you think? Do you think in a meta sense there was any actual chance Kuromaru could’ve been male and been with Touta, or do you think ultimately Touta “had to” be straight and Kuromaru could not have been male if with Tota?
There are two Negima spin offs.

Should I read these before Negima After Negima After UQ holder?
I started watching the anime and finished it in 4 hrs lol. Now I picked up the manga as s2 of UQ holder isn't coming. So I am on chapter 137 and Isana and Honka were not introduced in the anime. Ik the anime has cut down a lot of things. So who are they if you can explain without spoilers that would be helpful 😓
why touta and kirie didn't leave a descendant son or daughter? or they can't procreate? or they a have a descendant that was not mention?
I once tried to watch Mahou Sensei Negima! and abandoned it after 13 episodes(dont remember why) and after reading the synopsis of UQ Holder! Mahou Sensei Negima! 2 it looks like a totally different type of show so i just wanted to ask what or how large the connection is between them, i.e. would i enjoy the second one if i didnt like the first?
Thanks for any help.
I think we all know that Akamatsu can no longer continue drawing due to his current position, so do you think it is possible that the series will continue in the future as a light novel?
Also this possibility of following the manga under the hand of another person but honestly this seems much more expensive and slow seeing the situation of the manga currently, what do you think?
Will there be a chance for the next UQ Holder season? Personally i don't think its impossible but i had some concerns about the author. I think i heard this was his last work but I am not so sure myself. Now for the reason why i think that there is a possibility for the continuation of the series is because of what Madam Dana said in the last chapter. In the chapter 192 she said "the next part is going to be another challenge , but...that's a story for another day". Now this COULD mean something but can also not. I do not know if the author wanted to include Dana because she is the witch of the rift and what not or just wanted to make an "outro" with her. Either way, the manga finished about 2 years ago, and i finished it today so i was confused when i saw that no one was talking about it continuing. At this point i can just hope the author comes back with the next season because this manga is the one i have enjoyed the most.
Hello guys! I just finished UQ-Holder and to my surprise I didn't expect to find a UQ-Holder subreddit :D So I'd like to share my thoughts (and some open questions) if someone is interested in it :)
It started with this YT-Video which popped up in my recommondations: "When you confess to your crush after 500 years" I liked its idea and thought that the whole love story might be even more wholesome, so I started to watch its anime, ova and finally its manga.
I initially thought that the anime would include all necessary scenes about the love story between Touta and Kitty/Yukihime (I'll use the name "Yukihime" from now on) but welp, I was kinda disappointed that that wasn't the case, but I think that's just me and I was biased by the video xD
However, the anime was pretty funny and nice at the beginning, but the longer I watched it, the more questions popped up to me like
to name some.
Sadly, I don't remember that much from the anime, so that's it.
Welp, since I wanted to see the romance story between Touta and Yukihime, I started to watch the OVAs as well.
I was quite happy that this was the episode which I was looking for... except the end... it kinda felt inappropriate to see Touta aCCidEnTLy land on Yukihime and that after seeing the flashback.
The short stories were cute and funny but the third OVA was a bit overdoing it with nudity.
In total, I was positively surprised by the manga in comparison to the anime. They were more details luckily, but sadly... not clearly enough, which is why I'd like to critisize some things first:
Enough of the critisizing stuff, here are some things which I liked from the manga:
I do have some open questions which I still don't really understand. Would be nice if someone could explain me those points :)
In chapter 96, when Touta said
I want you to go a round with me every night
and Yukihime responded with a "slap" (lol), why did she gave him a this "slap"? English isn't my first language and I translated his message as
I'd like to a go on a walk with you every night
and other online translators give me the same translation. Did his message mean something like
I'd like to have sex with you every night
or something like that? Because otherwise I can't explain myself her reaction on his question.
Also in chapter 96, after Yukihime hit Touta, he said
I was just asking you to train me every night! (in a "misou soup" kind of way")
Is that a reference to a pervy sentence as well? Like that he is the spoon and she is the soup? I can only agree to Yukihime's respond to this:
You're not making sense! What are you trying to say?!
xD
At the end of chapter 159, why did UQ-Holder No. 3, 5 and 8 attack their own organisation? Am I right that No. 5 had this organism "on" his head which took over his mind just because he wanted to beet jimbei?
In chapter 110, Yukihime told Touta, that she still loves Negi springfield, so does she not love Touta? Did she just say that in order to Because in the color-page in chapter 192, she says, that she loves Touta, but I don't know if this colored page is meant to be part of the story.
In chapter 146 did cutlass cry when she looked back to Touta? If yes, why?
Was Touta created in a laboratory as a clone or really born by humans? Because at the end of chapter 147 you can see Yukihime holding Touta as a baby, but in chapter 150 around the middle of the chapter, you can see Touta playing with the other clones. So if I'm understanding it correctly, the story about his dead parents was a fictional story to give Touta a story about his past, right but he was born by a woman and then raised by yukihime but after some time, when he got 16, they erased his memories and replaced it with this car-accident.
In total, UQ-Holder is fine and I think that I'd recommend to read manga but with a grain of salt. I think, I'd give it a 7/10, because:
Neverthless I have two wishes:
Also what I'm curious about is the Manga Mahou Sensei Negima!. I skipped the
first two chapters of it but damn... this is a bit too much fan-service for the
first two chapters... also the Harem
tag makes me wonder if the focus isn't
basically mainly about the harem stuff... would you say its story is worth it to
read it?
Yeah, that are my thoughts + questions and stuff. Thank you for taking your time and reading this :)
