I’m a sophomore registering for the winter 2024 semester. I’m a pre-med student and have a few questions. I’ve already taken Bio 172 and am registering for Organic 1, its lab, and other classes. I’m wondering if it’s smart to take Bio 171 right before or after taking the MCAT. I came across this issue because I’d like to avoid taking a gap year. To do that, I’d need to take biochem in the fall of my junior year. Considering the course load, I thought it would be easier to take 171 later instead of earlier, since it’s an ecology and evolution course and not as crucial for the MCAT. However, I may be mistaken and would appreciate some advice.
Hello! I am a freshman majoring in Data Science and looking to transfer into Col. Eng. from LSA. I am currently finishing up Math 116, Eng 125, Eecs 183, and Histart 194. Next semester, I am currently looking at Eecs 203 and 280, and Chem 130. I do not know which other class I should put. Let me know if you have any ideas :). Thank you
Are there any recommended 2 credits natural science courses? Or 2 -1 credit courses also fine. Like Easy easy A.
PLZ suggestions
Was thinking of taking this course with David Brewer next semester and was looking for some opinions on workload.
I'm currently as freshman here and I'm struggling in pre-calc. I'm taking it Pass/Fail because I don't necessarily need it, but I'm not sure if I'll pass. Let's say I do fail, would there be a way to make up for the F on my transcript, or will it be on there forever? I'm actually stressing so bad about this and idk what to do, because I really don't want to have to retake the class since I don't need it:(
Hi,
I would love any advice/comments from any graduate students here. And if you’re here for grad school and went to um for undergrad I’d love to know how you’re feeling about being back on campus.
I had a great undergrad experience here and only applied for grad school (phd) because the funding and perks are pretty generous relative to other schools. And it was a great research match as well. But I can’t help but feel that I have made a mistake in returning. It almost feels like I’ve regressed even though I know that isn’t the case. I loved a2 during the times I was here but being back here and much older makes me feel out of place and alone. I’ve made a few new friends but still feel that I have not had an easy time with the transition back.
Is there a class that teaches you how to develop a mobile app? I saw EECs 441, but I’m not sure if it teaches me anything about mobile applications, since it is a MDE class.
I have applied for bus driver since 23th October, but still no response yet. Is there many people applying for it?
Good afternoon, has anyone here taken an NROTC course at UMich as a civy? I just registered for a NAVSCI course on maritime navigation but I’m not in the NROTC. I was told they’re open to anyone but have any other civilian students taken it before, and if so what was it like? Or if as a civilian you’ve taken any ROTC course what was it like?
I saw SI 364 also covers database management systems, so I’m wondering which one is more worth taking/useful?
do people decorate their caps for the main commencement ceremony?
Does anyone know if the lectures for IOE 310 and 316 are recorded or if attendance is required? Thanks so much
I saw they both cover quite a lot of ML content. How are they different in terms of the ML part? Which one is more useful?
I'm considering adding ENVIRON235 to my schedule next semester. The median grade on Atlas is a B+ so i'm a bit hesitant. I'm curious to hear from people who have taken the course. How was the coursework? Were the assignments and quizzes manageable? Would you recommend?
Has anyone taken a course with Dudek? I am looking into taking Econ 310 as it'll fit into my schedule and have lecture recordings. However, his reviews on rate my profs is so low I am frightened! Any insights?
So I need to take 15/16 credits this semester. I know 3 eecs classes isnt advised but I hear these ones aren't too bad. Thoughts on this schedule?
Hi all, I know at Michigan there is usually a strict requirement on attending the first few days of class. However, I am going to be away and will miss the first 3 days of class (2/3 discussion sections…). Do you think emailing professors will be enough (saying I’m sick or something) or will I be dropped from the classes? My plane ticket isn’t changeable.
I'm an international High School student interested on studying in the University of Michigan but haven't decided on my major yet. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the differences between PPE and Econ and how those majors would translate into the job market (working as an economist, etc.). Thank you!
I’m taking this class for my FYWR and wondering if anyone else has taken it and what they think of the class/professor?
hi! I'm thinking of doing the ross minor (with an engineering major) but I've heard a lot of mixed opinions (not worth it because recruiters don't care about minors / ross curve messes with gpa etc.). just wondering if anyone has done it and found it useful / not / experience with it?
chem is not my strong suit. i didn’t do the best on exam 3 (I studied a lot) and want to do really well for the final. does anyone have any tips on how to succeed from a student standpoint? ive done pretty much everything (textbook problems, practice tests, active recall, etc…)
My dad is having a 20lb tumor removed Wednesday and can eat till midnight tomorrow, looking for a place he can have a great meal before then
Edit: thanks for all suggestions and well wishes
is it possible/recommended to retake an EECS class for a third time? I know there is a strict rule about only being able to take a course twice but I really don’t want to change my course of study and truly believe I can do better this time
Hey y'all, hope your break was restful! Has anyone taken LING 321? I'm considering it to complete my SS requirement and the topic looks very interesting.
Can anyone speak to the workload/how the class is run? Thanks!!
Note: there's no atlas data on it yet since it's so new
I was wondering if it is smart to take Bio 171, Bio 173, Orgo 1, and Orgo 1 lab together in the winter semester? If it’s not a good idea, is Orgo 2 and Bio 171 in the spring smart?
any internationals or others staying back this break and wanna hang out?
I am a current freshman and not doing to well in one of the courses I have chosen this semester. I am at risk of failing and it is too late to drop even though I have put in a request to drop. I have heard of this freshman forgiveness but I am not sure what it is even about. Doesn’t it mean we have the option to drop or even pass/fail a voter so that it won’t have an effect on our gpa?
Hey guys! As an incoming exchange student I only have 1 day left to choose my classes. I need to convert a business valuation exam with one of the following UMich exams. Has anyone taken any of these courses and could give a brief review of the course overall? Like professors, how demanding it is, grading, etc. Thank you so much!!!
