Backstory: I'm a current high school senior who has been accepted to the University of Dayton as a Mechanical Engineering major and hope to concentrate in aerospace and have some questions.
I also am wondering about the Pro's and Con's of UD or anything unique about the university overall - stuff that Dayton representatives might not bring up.
Here are some key questions I have regarding aerospace:
What types of internship opportunities are available, / Does Dayton have strong partnerships with major aerospace firms?
What research opportunities exist for aerospace concentrations?
What makes Dayton's aerospace concentration stand out compared to other universities?
Hi! I got accepted for MSEM fall 2023 intake at University of Dayton. How’s the course at UD for the same and how are the opportunities post graduation? I have a bachelors in computer science and currently have work experience for 2 years.
Any input would be appreciated.
I recently accepted a GA position at UD that offers me either free housing at Irving Commons, or an increase in stipend money to live elsewhere. I'll be saving money overall and will not have to worry about furnishing an apartment/signing a 12 month lease if I choose Irving. Does anyone have any experience living there, surroudning area, pros/cons? Or should I bite the bullet and find somewhere downtown. Appreciate you all
Just got into the MBA program at Dayton. I’m a 22M, big into sports, exercise, and the outdoors coming from NY. I’m wondering what the social life is like for grad students. I do enjoy the party scene, however not looking to be the oldest guy at the frat house. Can anyone tell me more about the surrounding area, and what it’s like?
Hi everyone, so I accepted an offer for a summer & fall '23 internship, what is your advice for finding housing for a student who has never been to Dayton?
Are there any well-known apartments/complexes for being good places to go rent from? Or any places to steer clear of?
Is living downtown common/affordable?
Any advice would be appreciated, such as average rent prices, what to look for, whether to have roommates, etc
Thanks in advance!
hit me up! Need Help
I was accepted for Discover Engineering in the fall. My other area of interest is computer science. Dayton does not have computer science in the college of engineering. Is it easy to switch over if I end up deciding that is my ultimate choice?
Thinking of applying to UofD for Comp Sci. Can you guys please share your overall experience of attending UofD for comp sci. I think the curriculum is pretty good though...?
Im an Indian Applicant for university of Dayton. I have submitted my application but I couldn't find a place to upload all my documents such as English proficiency scores, lor's, transcripts, financial bank statement.
I was accepted to UD. It's my #1 choice but I'm worried it's not going to happen for me. UD sent me my merit award info for $20k plus the $1k book scholarship. It said the full financial package would be sent in February.
My parents are helping me pay for college but have said that if Dayton isn't comparable to UC then I'll have to go there. I haven't heard back from UC yet, but the costs look to be at least 10k cheaper (tuition and room/boad) than UD.
I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly) that UD could be just as affordable as some of the state colleges like UC and Ohio State. I have a high GPA, mediocre test scores and good ec's. Would it be worth calling admissions when I get UC's offer? Or should I just give up on my dream to go to Dayton?
Hello
In 2011 I visited UD as I was picking colleges. I didn't end up going here, but I stayed the night and went on tours. During one of the trips I was told/showed a bathroom in the top floor of some building that had a 1 way glass wall so you could sit on the toilet and look out over the campus. Is this real? Did I just make this up? I swear it was real but I can't find anything about it online.
I am international student. I want to improve my English. Is anyone interested in Chinese? We can learn and practice language from each other.
Located in Sidney, roughly 30 minutes north of Dayton. Fine art photographer, working on a series based on Bernini sculptures. Pays $100/3hr shoot. DM for more details.
I have been working on this app for a while now and I am really excited to share it with you. It's a college marketplace restricted to students. You can buy, or sell anything you want to other students, ranging from dorm supplies, textbooks, lost& found, promote services, tutoring, apparel (anything really!) ride-sharing, to subleasing or finding off-campus housing for next year ...
A lot of hard work went into it so make sure you check it out if you need anything for the upcoming semesters! You can only log in once you verify your dayton.edu school email! (you'll receive a 5 digit code in your inbox)
link to the app: https://collegesouk.com/ and tell your friends!
also maybe follow on ig https://www.instagram.com/collegesouk/ ?
Lastly, please go ahead and post something people are already using it :) 💚🐫 hope it helps (upvote for visibility)! - might be a little glitchy on galaxy hoping to fix that soon, also just want to mention that the idea is abstracted to support multiple universities :) each university got its own separate marketplace!
Also, please dm me if you have an idea on how I can let more students know about this or if anyone is interested in contributing! (app dev or marketing)
Hey there! I am An incoming graduate student from U.A.E. I would love to connect with people from the university. HMU!
Hi Everyone,
I have been working for some time now on this website ratemycourses.io and I am really excited to share it with you.
You can use this to look at reviews and get advice on courses you're interested in. You can also sort courses by difficulty, usefulness and the overall rating from reviews made by other students. I think if enough people start using it regularly. it's going to be essential when you're choosing your electives or just to get advice on courses you will be taking.
Lastly, filtering and sorting courses is only gonna be useful and accurate if there are a lot of reviews, so please go ahead and leave some reviews to courses you've taken or are currently taking.
Also, please dm me if you have an idea on how I can let more students know about this. And if anyone is interested in writing an article about this dm me!
Enjoy!!
Getting real jealous looking at all the big 10 schools and their logos
Anyway we can organize and find a nice spot to leave UD's logo?
My son is a high school junior and wants to major in Aerospace Engineering, so we have been strongly considering UC. I recently learned that UD offers Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace. This sounds awesome, so now we are beginning to look at UD. I'm curious how difficult it is to be accepted into the area of Engineering you want. My son has a 3.9 GPA, a few extracurricular activities but a low ACT right now (23). He didn't study for it and is retaking it so hopefully that will come up.
Hi everyone! I am an international student planning to apply for engineering management masters at university of dayton. Can someone tell me about the course and university in general? How are the job opportunities on graduation?
A few younger friends of mine are graduating from Dayton soon. I love 3d Printing and was looking to find/ ask someone to create a 3d file of the chapel that I could use to create Christmas ornaments with. Does anyone know where I can find one?
I am from Asia and currently looking for undergraduate scholarships for international students. It seems like University of Dayton's acceptance rate is high and tuition fees are quite affordable even without scholarship. I just wanna know the environment and the student life there because it's like a whole new community for me outside of Asia. And I don't know much about Catholic universities.
I’m going to another college right now as a freshman and don’t really like it thus far. I don’t wanna transfer into spring semester though. But I am interested in the possibility of transferring into fall 2022 (the start of my sophomore year).
My only concern is I don’t know if it would be worth it on my part to do so. By not going here freshman year, would I already miss out on this undergraduate experience at Dayton? Are the friend groups already formed by then? Or would I still be able to have this experience?
Does anyone have the answers to problems 2. And 9. on the UDiversity post-training quiz that I could use?
