Exciting that UMSL is a polling place for early voting AND Election Day. Remember you can vote early y’all and encourage your friends to as well! The lines have been short so far…
long time umsl student and former frequent flyer at the library. I’m aware of the random tables sprinkled in buildings like ABH. are y’all doing full study sessions there? ugh
Has anyone heard any information on the new engineering program? I know the announcement is fairly new, but besides the announcement article I’m unable to find anything. I’m wanting to know if the pre-engineering requirements will be the same as the joint programs they have with Washu. Or when the curriculum will be posted.
TIA!
How do you guys feel about the Chef's Table. I just started noticing it this semester and some of the food options look awesome on paper.
Hello, everyone. I was just accepted into UMSL as a transfer student from Kentucky. I was offered the Gateway Scholarship as well as the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship. This along with Pell grants will completely cover my tuition so it would be kind of stupid not to go and I hear it is a good school for a non-traditional student as I just turned 35 and looking for a career change. All that aside, is anyone here an International Business or Japanese major? From what I have read, UMSL has a highly ranked International Business program and a solid Japanese program as well. I'm considering majoring in IB and minoring in Japanese. I would like to hear from anyone taking part in these programs. Thank you and look forward to starting next semester!
Hi y’all. Currently a junior at UW Madison and am looking to withdraw and apply to another university. UMSL is one I’m considering. I’m really just looking for opinions on UMSL.
Thank you I’m advance for replies. I know a lot of ppl have questions about transferring so thanks!
How is the elementary education program? Does Saint Charles community college classes for elementary education go in well to UMSL? Do you feel the professors are supportive and helpful at UMSL?
I am a Missouri S&T student transferring this spring semester. I will be in the engineering department, any tips I should know??? Where are good places to study, or get tutoring. Places I can make friends?? Help a brother out
Hi all, when do you think registration is going to open to current students to register on my view?
Hello, I am a freshman at Mizzou, but I plan to change into UMSL. I have a few questions before I change, wondering if it's worth it or not. My first question is how good is their finance and accounting program since I am going to double major and is it worth to change from Mizzou? I am paying 14,000 a year for Mizzou but if I go to UMSL it's free since I'll stay at home and I have some aid. Is it worth staying at Mizzou and pay the money, because I can afford it if I stay, but I also enjoy staying at home with my family. I mainly want to know if the programs is good or clubs because mizzou has pretty good clubs and I am unsure about UMSl
Does anyone know anything about the NSLS?
I already have a BA but am considering attending school again for a more lucrative degree. Some of my college years were during lockdown and also I've moved cities, my intent is to try to join clubs/sports/whatever as well so I can make some friends (like most I suppose).
I'm 31, am I going to likely be much older than those in my classes or is the age range diverse enough that I don't stand out much?
Same question for the clubs, since I could see the classes having a diverse range but do the sports/clubs usually have more fresh out of high school?
This decision just came to me recently, and I'm aware of the date. Is it possible to hastily enroll/be admitted/ just sign up for even one on-campus class or am I too late?
Thanks for any help you can give
The community college I went to had a discord for students, is there a discord for UMSL? Please comment with the invite if you know it.
My friend is trying to get out of a lease at university meadows for the 2024-2025 semester. I know it may be late but the lease change is effective at any time. If anyone’s willing to transfer please dm me as it’s only 580 with utilities. Thanks!

My first class is in Nursing Building and my second class is in Fine Arts Building. What is the fastest way to get there without a car? Is there a shuttle nearby Nursing College?
erm y’all know if they finished it yet or nah
I have a 4 hour break in between my classes this semester and I’m looking for somewhere to hang out and study during my break. Anybody have any favorite spots?
Hello! Has anyone taken Health Psychology with A. Cassani? Can you recommend this class with this professor or not? I could not find the reviews.
I’m planning on moving to St Louis (from Canada! First time in the US 😄) soon and I’m looking for safer areas around the city as I’ll be living alone. I will be attending UMSL for graduate school,, how would you say the safety is on University meadows/campus dorms? Would living in apartments with good security (ie having fob key) be a better option? For reference I’m a female living alone, potentially could get a roommate if I find someone compatible
I recently applied for housing at Oak Hall, but I was waitlisted :( They told me that this year was the first year in a while where they even HAVE a waitlist. I was also told it would be possible to get a double room instead (so I would have a roommate), but is anyone familiar with how it looks like at all compared to the singles? I tried looking online but there is literally zero information about the doubles.
If anyone is looking for on-campus housing, I am looking to transfer my lease at University Meadows (on campus!) for a 2 bed 2 bath. Rent is $691/month for an August-May lease, message me if you're interested!!!
Is anyone looking for a gym partner at UMSL or know someone that is? I’m a 27 yr old, female gym newbie and im hoping to start going to the rec center 2-3 times a week with a gym partner. Thanks!
Hey! I am applying to UMSL for the 2025-2026 school year and I was wondering if there was a theater program available. I plan to major in history but I looked at the minors available and there is no theater/drama listed. I did look it up on Google and I got this link for a course leaf:
I don’t know if this is a previous course that is not available anymore, but even if I can’t minor in theater, are there any clubs that I could join that would offer that?
Hi all! I need to have a minimum of $2,000 taxable earned income during the 12 months prior to my academic term in order to prove im a Missouri resident. How much would i need to make to have my taxable income 2k? Where can i find this?
I’ll be starting my Master’s in Computer Science (MSCS) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) this Fall24. I’m reaching out to anyone currently in the program or alumni who can shed some light on a few things:
How challenging are the courses overall? Are there any that are particularly tough or require a significant time commitment? Conversely, are there any that are more manageable or less intense?
Which courses do you recommend taking, especially in the first semester? Are there any professors who are particularly good or any classes that are a must-take? Also, any courses that are best to avoid due to difficulty or teaching style?
What electives did you find most useful or interesting? Any that you would suggest steering clear of?
Any general advice for someone just starting the MSCS program at UMSL? Things you wish you knew before starting or tips for making the most out of the program?
I recently transferred and at my last university text books were provided, so now that I have to get my own I am trying to figure out how much I am going to need to save. Is there a way to see what text books I need ahead of time before I get the syllabus or whatever?
Applied to go back to school after completing my Undergrad at SEMO (and loving it) but moving back to Saint Louis, where I grew up. Dealing with admissions, registrar, multiple advisors, and office workers, I decided to withdraw my intent to come to school here. First of all, the advisor ghosted me multiple times when I tried to schedule my initial advising appointment. Then proceeded to be extremely rude and unprofessional when I was finally able to get in contact with her. After calming down and calling the advising office a couple days later, was met with another extremely unprofessional attitude. Immediately called financial services to speak with the woman who initially changed my student account to show that I had accepted their offer to attend and was told if I wanted to rescind it I needed to be transferred to registar - fine. Once transferred, I am met with another extremely poor attitude and unprofessional behavior. So glad I decided not to come here to further my education.
Anyone going?
