Graduation Tickets

If anybody has extra tickets for the College of Education and Professional Studies commencement ceremony on December 13 at 1 PM I'd be so grateful for them. I'm the oldest grandchild graduating and I'm trying to make sure my grandparents see at least one college graduation.

General Humanities Reading Material

I decided to change Majors to General Humanities in the spring. Like a lot of people, I have a full time job so I want to get some reading in to make the transition a little smoother. I'm specifically curious about reading suggestions for Hum 2223 Renaissance to Modern, but recommendations for other supplemental material is welcome too!

Payment plans keep changing. Is this happening to anyone else?

A few weeks ago, I got multiple emails from the bursars office telling me that my payment plan has changed. In a span of 2-3 days I went from needing to make two payments (a November payment and December payment) of $186 each, to only needing to make one $372 payment in December, to not needing to pay anything as my balance was cleared to $0, then back to original two $186 payments.

And now this week, I was told I need to again make just one $372 payment, then an email saying I need to make the original two $186 payments, to now saying I need to make one $442 payment (where’d the other $70 come from? 😂).

Additionally, I’ve been issued a refund check each time this has happened. Has anyone else been dealing with this?

Scam email

Just got this email pretending to be from the university. It's very obviously a scam but I just want to make sure everyone's aware

Bronchos Football is 4-0

The UCO offense is seemingly unstoppable this season. If you haven’t been to a game at Chad Richison Stadium this year, you’re missing out.

What laptops do you guys recommend?

I have had a Chromebook since like 2020 and I absolutely hated it. You can't use respondus lockdown browser with it, hard to save files and use excel, and I don't like how you can't download your apps to appears on the actual screen. Anyways, it just crashed and I'm looking for something affordable that is compatible with respondus lockdown browser and lasts awhile. Ideally not Chromebook because I have had so many problems with it (unless there's a really good one you recommend). I would really appreciate any suggestions!

DoorDash

Is it possible to get DoorDash to the suites? I know they can’t drop it by my door but I didn’t know if that was frowned upon on something. What address should I use?

Cash Payments

My friend lost her student ID and the card printer was down today. Do you know if any of the restaurants take cash payments other than the chain restaurants that they have?

Housing?

Hi! Im a senior and applying to UCO here pretty soon, my only question is how are the dorms there and are there any recommendations when it comes to them? I would prefer to live in an apartment on or off campus but I dont know if that is an option for incoming freshman so if anybody could share that knowledge it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Non resident fees when having OK promise?

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has had problems with the bursar office charging then out of state tuition when they also have ok promise (which is only for OK residents). I had been to onestop several times discussing the charge and was told that it was taken care of and I was not going to be charged, however when I added my fees and my payments (loans, ok promise, ok tuition assistance grant, Pell grant and my own money) just last night, I had been charged and if it was taken care I wouldn't have had to get students loans to pay it off. I currently have a case being sent to a specialist and was told by onestop that if I was charged I would get my money back. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, were you able to get your money back?

Life Science class

What's the easiest science class? Don't judge. I'm returning to college after over two decades. I'm looking for something that has the least math. I can handle everything, but the math has me pulling out my hair. Is life science more light on math than say...biology or physical science?

Thanks in advance.

Why a 38% graduation rate?

Hello, I was just wondering why UCO has such a low graduation rate? I know that Oklahoma has a lower college graduation rate compared to other states in the US. However, even compared to OU and OkState UCO’s is lower. Are there any factors for why this is?

Anyone have experience with getting a dependency override?

I'll keep this brief, but I'm in the process of trying to get a dependency override for UCO in the fall. I was homeless the last couple months, have my own place now, and don't rely on my parents for anything (my dad is dead and mom is a narcissist). I'm currently trying to get a job in the area, and have been surviving off of my small college fund from my grandparents. If anyone knows anything about the process or has gone through getting a DO, anything would help.

Am I cooked? (Suck at ALEKS math test)

So I'm planning on attending UCO as a forensic science/ chemistry major and but the only problem is that i scored an 18 on the math portion of the ACT which is only one point away from the bare requirement to not having to take a placement test. I studied for weeks for the ALEKS test only to get an 28 on my first try. I know since I'm going into a stem major i'm obviously going to take some math courses like stats and I already scheduled for my second attempt at ALEKS but to be honest I feel like I'm going to suck at this attempt too💀 Basically my question is that if I somehow end up taking a beginner math course would it be hard to catch up to a regular stats or calc 1 course and still be able to graduate in 4 years or is it too time consuming that It would be better to re-take the math ACT or ALEKS?
