Classes Added for Spring Semester

Does anyone know if classes will be added to the spring semester? I was looking on catalyst because Im looking to switch my major and will need to take bio 1 and chem 1 (preferably together) but theres only one course both of them and the recitation for chem happens to land on the bio days. I know that these courses are normally taken in the fall, which is why theres only one of each, but does anyone know if more courses will be added or will I have to take it at Blue Ash or something

Easiest Natural Sciences (NS) Class?

Im a freshman that has some credits from high school but I still need 2 more credit hours and was looking to get that done next semester. What are the easiest natural science classes that you guys would recommend? I would also be fine taking a 3 credit hour class because I know most science classes are 3. Thanks for the help!

Medical Sciences Acceptance Rate/Chances

Hi!

I'm a current high school junior interested in University of Cincinnati's Medical Sciences program. I was wondering what the acceptance rate of this program was, or if anyone has any tips for getting in. I'm visiting the campus tomorrow for the open house and want to be prepared. My stats are: 33 act, 3.8 uwGPA, 4.3 wGPA if anyone would be willing to chance me :). Thank you!!

What are those “Avert Panzy” stickers on Calhoun and McMillan?

I’ve been a student here for three years now, and I’ve seen those stickers on a lot of the lampposts and electric boxes in Clifton Heights. What do they mean?

Off campus housing cost estimates?

Im on co-op right now, and when i return to campus in the spring, im going to be living in off campus housing for the first time. From your experiences, how cheap can you get a place? I'm fine with subleasing just a super shitty bedroom somewhere, i dont need anything fancy. is it possible to find just a room somewhere for ~$500-1000 bucks a month?

How are there not more accidents around UC?

The road design is abysmal. MLK is treated like a mini multilane-highway in a high pedestrian area with crossing frequently.

Calhoun and Mcmillian has dozens of cars lined up on each side with people parallel parking stopping an entire lane of traffic.

Not to mention all the parked cars on tight side streets and there is zero visibility if you are pulling out of a driveway because cars will illegally parked. They also will be having their windows tinted to the max so you literally cannot see oncoming traffic through their windows. You can creep out but by the time you see a car your hood is in their lane. There are so many blind spots that inevitably cause close calls.

Speeding is rampant around campus too.

Making a left turn, checking the oncoming lane, clearing the crosswalk, only then have a scooter zip by on the sidewalk.

BoK (Breadth of Knowledge) Courses and General History Questions

I'm a Junior in HS and UC is currently my best option for college. I'm trying to get a gist of the classes and get descriptions for a couple classes just so I know the differences between classwork between different majors and how minors and everything weave into there. I've been using the official UC curriculums, but I'm struggling to understand the BoK courses. Is there a list of classes/credits that would count towards certain BoK types? Is it just generally take a class with a general relation to that topic? Is it something you have to talk with your advisor about? I know I can get descriptions of the BoK types and program, but I still am kinda lost :p. I'm thinking about majoring in History or History and secondary (Highschool) education. I'm not sure about minors, but I was thinking about Spanish. I was also wondering how there are so many "free electives" with the History major. I saw something about 'concentrations,' but that was just 3 -5 classes each, whereas there are much more free elective slots. Is this so you can explore kind of what you want with History, or is there like some huge thing I'm missing? I'm sorry if some of these are kind of stupid questions, I've been very "stem! stem! stem!" basically my whole life, which is much more rigid in structure, and am just know thinking I might not want to do that for the rest of my life. Also, are there many study abroad opportunities for History? I've heard a lot about UC's study abroad program and It's something I'm really interested in. Sorry this is a bit all over the place I am VERY confused by this whole process and all ten billion things every school does differently.

Any other "older" undergraduates?

I attended a different university right after high school but dropped out midway through my second semester to take a gap year, which led to another gap year, which led to another gap year... and so on until now. I'm now a sophomore by my current degree track and it feels kind of weird to me trying to talk to and make friends with all of the 18-19 year olds in my classes. I'm not quite to 30 yet but still old enough to feel out of place. Are there any other non-traditional students here in a similar situation? Are there any groups or hangouts geared towards older undergraduates?

Living 2 blocks east of Cincinnati Childrens

Hi, I'm looking at places to rent as a graduate student and saw a place I'm interested in but it's in avondale. It's 2 blocks east of Cincinnati Children's on Hale Ave and I was wondering if anyone had experience living in that area (mainly concerned about safety).

Is there any reason why some sections of intro to aerospace design meet twice a week and others just once? Which would be better?

About KEES money

I am currently a high school senior who lives in northern Kentucky. I am considering UC Blueash for their vet tech program. Does anybody know if they accept KEES (Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship) money? Thanks for any answers.

Withdrawing from class.

I am a second year and I’m switching my major from neuroscience to biology. I am in a neuroscience class this semester, but I’m planning on withdrawing from it since biology doesn’t require it. My advisor told me that a W on my transcript will not affect my GPA, but are there any other downsides I should consider before withdrawing?

I hate where I live - Gaslight Properties

Sadly, I was not in the country (and I don't live in Cincinnati, and had no one to view the apartment for me) when I booked my current apartment. The pictures looked good; I received a video of it from Gaslight, and it looked fine to me.

I've been here a month. When I moved in, I asked for a change of apartments because they gave me a basement apartment, and I was not told that. I was told I would need to stay for 6 months and lose the deposit if I moved.

I've been trying to settle in (it's already been so long), and recently, it's gotten worse because I have started seeing huge (atleast 3.5-4 inch) centipedes (black/grey ones) in my bathroom. I carry a bug spray around in the apartment and plan to invest in diatomaceous earth too. Gaslight just tells me, "It's a basement apartment; deal with it," when I request maintenance.

I don't know how to deal with this. I'm swamped with coursework; I want to move to someplace that has more natural light and a place where I don't have to deal with these bugs. I don't know how to do that or how to fully be comfortable in my own apartment.

Google is telling me NOT to kill centipedes, BUT MY BATHROOM IS TINY, AND I CANNOT DEAL WITH CENTIPEDES. I'm also a stickler for cleanliness and I keep my bathroom and unit clear of dampness and any kind of dirt.

Advice?

I am wanting advice on this. I am a student in cybersecurity thinking on getting the m4 mini when It releases. I have a samsung tablet, and asus rog which I hate but gonna keep it for a few years till done with school. I am wondering if I should get the mini? I am a samsung guy. I really wish I would have gotten the m2 macbook when I had the chance. Since they are good. I mainly use Microsoft office and vms. Also can I connect it to a external laptop screen for on the go? I did ask my current school for advice and they said mac would work. This is the schools recommendations I'm going to next summer when I transfer as a junior. https://ucprod.service-now.com/cech?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0013796
