Molly is garbage

Acting garbage. Character garbage. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked someone as much as her.

Spoiler maybe?? Ahmed/Bassam/Jamal/Leila relationship

While watching season 3 and learning that Ahmed isn't Jamal's son, Leila tells Bassam and Ahmed. I may be off but didn't Leila already tell Bassam in like season 1 or 2??? While watching her tell Bassam all I could think was "didn't she already tell him that?" I was even thinking during the show how it was odd that Bassam never tried to have a relationship with Ahmed knowing that he was his. If I'm wrong on that I can't for the life of me remember who she actually told because we all know she didn't tell Jamal this info.. I just know that I knew for a long time, season 3 wasn't the first time learning and I could have sworn she told him already but there wasn't a big deal made out of it. Anyone know?

Hassim s2e9 - spoilers

Why did hasim kill himself after he doesn't kill that girl? Did he know who she was? Or did he just realized what kind of people he had thrown in with?

Just finished

Too bad we've never got to see an ending. Couldn't they just wrap up the story or just post the story online? :(

Abbudin = Israel?

I watched all three seasons last week. In the show it is mentioned that Abbuddin has borders with Lebanon and Syria.

In real life there is only one country that has borders with both Lebanon and Syria and that country is Israël.

I can't recall Israël being mentioned in this series so could it be that Abbudin is located on the territory of Israël in our world and Israël not existing in the Tyrant world?

The only problem with that theory is that Israël isn't known for its large oil reserves whilst Abbudin does have those.

Moran Atias (aka Leila in Tyrant) in recurring role on Fox's "The Resident"

Was just googling this upcoming new show because I like some of the other cast members, and I noticed her name in a recurring role!

considering that this show portrays conflicts in the Mid-east, I think its a blessing in disguise that it ended on a cliffhanger and heres why...

...nothing in the mid-east ever gets resolved. one situation will morph into another, one villain into another, one motive into another.

the war and the struggles that are going on over there have no end in sight. And in that way, i think its kinda unintentionally extremely realistic that Tyrant ended on a cliffhanger, its rather fitting and poetic considering the subject material it was covering. A state of affairs when the enemy is never defeated and there's always just "one more battle" to be had.

Got through 3 seasons in 4 days. Surprisingly good. (spoilers)

I watched Tyrant back when it was first released, but gave up after a few episodes. It seemed a bit too naive somehow, I didn't really believe the characters and the writing felt too cheesy. But upon reading the news that it is over after three seasons, I gave it another chance, since I wanted to watch something with set end (I dislike waiting years and years for ending) and I was sick, so plenty time.

Anyway. As you can see by the thread title, the show gripped me quite a bit. Around halfway first season I really got into it. It feels like middle-eastern Game of Thrones. Very well written characters and dialogues, even if there are some uneven/dumb moments from time to time. I thought all the sides in the conflicts were portrayed in good detail with mostly believeable motivations. Some lines made me laugh

T:"US is not in the business of regime change"

B:"Now say that with a straight face."

Aaanyway, while I thought the ending was not very resolved, I did find it quite fitting to end with the picture of Bassam, him realizing he has become tyrant himself. Full circle. I love how much it referenced real events and what is going on in the middle east. Involving ISIL (even if it is never called by that name, the flag is different etc) was a ballsy choice that worked quite well. Anyway, I wish the producers would find a way to get at least shortened last season made with full satisfying ending. Some 6 episode order. FX could have done that, at least. Great series overall.

Last point, Melia Kreiling is the most beautiful actress I have ever seen. I was just mesmerized everytime she was on screen :)

Please explain the merits of this show?

Some fantastical land with a presidential monarchy (Jordan?) in the Mediterranean, permits a coup de etat with a westerner to take power with the backing of the US.

Been there, done that. Poorly written, no direction, and offensive.

I really wish the show had been shot in like 50% Arabic and 50% English.

While I doubt this would have worked for cable TV, having the mix of languages in the show with subtitles made Narcos. It added so much to the immersion of the show.

I just think Tyrant could have been one of the rare examples that having the show be multilingual would have actually been a benefit to the show.

I'm only really confused by how Molly got released from the psych ward given how fucked up she still was

It seems like her only purpose for the remainder of season 3 was to be some sadistic wife to a tyrant and yet she had just come from a psych ward where she had supposedly been fixed so what gives.....?

Homeland still going because it demonizes muslims, Tyrant does the Opposite

Had Tyrant taken a page from Homeland, I feel that the show would have had a 4th season. One of the things I love about Tyrant is it humanizes the people of the middle east, getting the viewer to understand the reasons that lead to radicalization, resisting US influence in the region, etc, etc. Homeland however, is an islamaphobic circle jerk that does nothing but demonize Muslims and paint them in a light that would make the right wing generals of the US army bust a nut in their dress blues. Tyrant is a challenge to the national narrative that Muslims are a "subhuman species, incapable of peace and they hate us for our freedoms" and had they fallen in line with that narrative it would still be on TV.

Closure?

I am absolutely in love with this series. The potential was ever-growing. I understand that the last season hasn't been incredible, bit I still found entertainment in watching it.

My question is was there any closure? Did the series end on a high note, and conclude everything? I hate that it ended so suddenly. I don't feel like it deserved that... What are your thoughts?

Who would have made the best president of abuddin?

Thought it would be interesting to get everyone's opinion on that and go deeper.

According to you, who would have made the best president of Abuddin? Is it Bassam, Leila, Fauzi, Jamal, Khaled (father), Daliyah, Halima, Ihab, Al Qadi, Tariq, Molly, ... (ok, joking on those two last ones)
