How do meal plans work

Hello so I was wondering how the hell do meal plans work. I’m class of 2025 and i just got accepted and i wanted to have an idea of how much money i need to bring together. I plan on getting the gold or silver meal plan. And I’m so confused, so let’s say for ex. I get the gold meal plan which is 210 swipes…it says 13-14 meals per week. So my question is do the swipes reset at the end of each week? like let’s say they rest every Sunday? or is that 210 swipes how much i have per semester. I hope that makes sense

Making friends as a freshman/good clubs to join?

I wanna start this post by saying I am autistic and finding friends is still a challenge here despite people generally being more accepting and social than in high school. Ive talked to a few people so far and there are even some I’d consider my friends, but there’s not really anyone I can just invite to go hangout with or will invite me to do anything. The issue i’m running into is finding a good open environment for making friends. At least with welcome week everyone was new and introducing each other, that’s where I met most of the people I know now, but at this point in the semester I’ve hit a plateau and I can’t seem to find a good place to talk to people who are around my age and have similar interests. I don’t have a lot of interests that fit in with the popular clubs I’ve seen, and I’m at a loss as to what I should do. I would like to make friends with other freshmen since I live on campus and would like to meet other people that do as well. If anyone has tips for meeting new people or any good clubs to try out let me know.

Online Toolkit changed?

Yo so I just got my NetID and Texas State ID and I've been trying to set up/activate my ID but its different from what the guide says. When I try to activate it I have to put my first, middle, and last name + ssn, the guide says last name, email, and ssn. I've tried multiple times to try and find the site i guess that gives those options but It's just gone i guess. Any help?

What Do You Love About TXST? Share Your Favorite Spots, Hacks, and More! 💛🐾

Hey Bobcats! 🐾

For a class project, I’m putting together a collection of what people love about Texas State University! Whether it’s a unique thing you’ve noticed about our campus, a specific spot that you think is underrated, or just a little life hack you’ve learned along the way, I want to hear it all.

Here are some ideas to get the ball rolling:

  • Favorite study spots (is Alkek Library your go-to, or do you have a secret nook?)
  • Campus hacks (like where to find the best parking during peak hours or shortcuts between buildings)
  • Food and hangout spots on or off-campus (who’s got the best tacos or coffee around here?)
  • Favorite events or traditions (who else lives for river floats or Bobcat Build?)
  • Random things you appreciate, like the squirrels or just the general vibe.

I’m looking for anything and everything! You don’t have to share something totally unique to TXST, but if you’ve got a special place or tip that makes your experience better, I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks for helping me out with this project, y’all rock! 🤘

Weekly meetup

With all the postings of people saying they'd like to be social it makes sense to pick a time and place per week somewhere on campus, we could all wear something similar (wear black and blue etc.) to indicate we're redditers. We could bring like ice breaking games or drink tea or whatever. Just thinking of a lazy .. I mean efficient low pressure way for people to hang out and know that they aren't alone.

Please comment a time/day of the week, somewhere on campus and any thoughts

Is Texas State liberal or conservative?

MA in Communication Design (Portfolio)

Anyone in/affiliated with the MA in Communication Design--how competitive is acceptance into the program? I'm getting ready to submit my portfolio to hopefully start in the spring, and I'm kind of nervous. Any last-minute advice for what makes a portfolio positively stand out to the panel is also definitely appreciated.

Plan ahead registration

I’m working on a registration plan for when my time ticket comes around, but there are hardly any sections showing up for each class I search. Not sure if that’s bc it’s so early or if it’s just bc they’re higher level courses? I’m inclined to believe it’s not just the higher level course thing bc I still need a basic English credit and there’s only 1 section with 1 prof available for English lit before 1865. No way that’s right.

Any idea why it’s like this?

Our suite toilet, installed less than 24 hours ago, is possibly the nicest toilet on all of campus. Look upon it and feel terrible envy.

Beverly hills… that’s where I wanna be!

Loan repayment

I am currently supposed to be a junior at Texas State, but took a break for financial reasons. However, I do plan to reapply for spring next semester soon and had talked to my advisor about it last year which she said was fine.

I got an email today about loan repayments for school and having to prepare to start doing that soon since I am not enrolled at the moment. Should I be worried about having to start loan repayments while being in school next semester or will it be pushed back once I am enrolled in school again?

Safe working at night?

Howdy fellas, I'm 20F thinking about getting an extremely late night shift from at a local restaurant not far from the square, like 2-3am. The pay seems decent for the late hours, but I'm worried about whether or not it's safe to be walking around that late. It's only like a 5 minute walk from there to my apartment, but has anyone had any scary experiences lately, or will I probably be fine?

Handshake success

Hey guys! I’m just curious if anyone is having any luck landing jobs/internships with the app Handshake?

I like the layout of the app and how easy it is to apply for positions. I will say it’s kind of disappointing when random recruiters message me saying that I am a great fit, yet I meet none of the requirements.

Weird question

Does anyone have any floppy disks? I need one or more for a project I'm working on in my spare time, so if you happen to have any sitting around, please let me know, and I'll gladly accept them.

Edit: If you do have some for any reason, I'd prefer if they were 3.5" disks.

Medical Withdrawal, FAFSA, repayment

I didn't think before applying. My mental health has declined to a point where I will be going into Crisis Care. The website is so convoluted. I know I will owe payback money, but I don't know when. I can't work right now.

Can I pay it back in chunks or do I have to do bankruptcy.

Do I have to pay it back immediately.
