Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with professional shops that do furniture refinishing in Tulsa. I’m not sure what to look for.
I have a couple of bedside tables from the 50s that need some love. (Not modern) Some chips and peeling, etc. I could do it myself but the trick is they originally had an interesting kind of glossy varnish I wouldn’t know how to replicate. So I’m hoping to find a woodworking professional that really knows what they’re doing.
US 169 south was a parking lot starting around I244 at 07:00 am yesterday. I ducked off on 244. Anyone know why? Thanks
As title says, my wife has viral symptoms, and i want to know where we could go if needed, thanks in advance

My gf needs to see an autoimmune specialist/ rheumatologist.
She has some diagnosed autoimmune issues already but in the 3 months things have gone down hill.
Her primary thought it could be cancer. Oncologist ruled that out. She has gotten sicker. Her primary sent her to the ER with a paper copy of all her recent labs. The hospital ran extensive labs , Cat scans, etc. Nothing diagnosable. Hospital discharged her because her symptoms are not anything worth keeping her and nothing they can do. Hospital recommended having her primary refer her to the Mayo Clinic but her insurance won’t cover that. They don’t know what is wrong with her.
Fevers that come and go , up to 99.9F. Sweats, chills, malaise/ fatigue (She is basically bedbound, needs assistance to get to bathroom etc) sleeps 20+ hours a day, diarrhea on and off, constant nausea preventing eating to only the bland foods, mostly liquid or soft foods ( broth, soups, sometimes applesauce, jello or mashed potatoes) This is her 4th week of being bedbound.
She has an appointment with an infectious disease specialist on the Dec 12. She needs to see an autoimmune specialist, someone who has dealt with multiple autoimmune issues .
Help.
She has eosinophilic asthma and crohns as diagnosed.
The city is actually encouraging people to host block parties. I’ve noticed an uptick lately in “needing friends” posts - why not be the initiator?
Yes it may be awkward, but we could all use some connection this holiday season. Use Canva to make a free invite, get some hot cocoa or wine, and invite neighbors for a “jingle and mingle” happy hour in your driveway!
We need each other, now more than ever. Break the loneliness, be awkward, and meet the people around you.
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows or perhaps have an entry level IT job in the surrounding area? I just completed my Google It Support certification from Coursera and I plan on studying and getting my CompTIA++
I've been applying on indeed but there's really not much so was hoping that someone on here would know.
Thank you
Just moved to Tulsa & I feel like my apartment complex is charging way too much money per load (wash & dry is $4 and the washers are teeny tiny) I have bedding to wash alongside my clothes & I can’t afford to spend 12-20$ on laundry every week!! Was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on where to go that is either cheaper or has bigger machines (or both)! I haven’t done this in awhile so I’m honestly not sure what a good price is.
Hi don’t know if this type of post is allowed. I’m looking for friends I’m going through a rough break up with my boyfriend and don’t have anyone to talk to. I don’t know where to go to make friends I really don’t want to go to bars.
I recently inherited about 2 medium boxes full of different sports cards (mostly baseball) and was curious of a place in the Tulsa-Ish area that I could get them valued and maybe even sell them to that wouldn't completely rail me IF I do have anything good.
Thanks I'm advance.
Was all that fog on the 244 bridge from the refinery alone? Could see barely 4 cars in front of me.
Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.
This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. Edit/addition: Do residential cleaning services clean the screens also? I'm asking just so I know what to ask when I talk to somebody.
Looking for a room to rent in Tulsa/BA area, preferably with a private bathroom. I work four nights a week, sleep whole day.
Trying to help my daughter find a rental in Tulsa. Her lease is up January 31st. I’ve looked on Zillow and it’s impossible to get anyone to call you back. Looking for 2-3 bedroom house, fenced yard and garage. $1400 or less Anyone got any good leads on rental properties?
TLDR: What’s the best way to optimize job hunting in Tulsa from out of state?
Posting on behalf of a family friend. He lived in OK for 2 years during Covid while self-employed then moved back to NYC for work. Has been applying for jobs he is overqualified for because he wants to move back here permanently. MBA, years of executive experience in the US and Europe, plus operations and manufacturing systems experience.
It seems that having very few local contacts (also a foreign name) could have prevented him from getting job offers here. He has applied for hundreds of jobs. Has spoken with multiple recruiters here who say his experience is impressive but they have only come up with a few opportunities.
Aside from OK-based alumni for his college, is there another way to “network” while he is out of state? He has received several good job offers in other markets (LA, Texas mostly) so it seems the difficulty is specific to Tulsa, possibly due to it being more connection-based.
Any feedback is appreciated!
I am what you might call indoorsy. But my 83 year old father in law would like to rent cabins at a state park and have a family hang out. I want to give him this. It would be a total five families. It's better with this family if we each have our own assigned cabins. I'm wondering 1. If there is anything not too far from Tulsa that would match his ask? 2. How to go about booking if there is?
Thanks!
Are there any free community yoga classes that are offered weekly or monthly in the metro??
Hey, all. I have a hurting friend in San Francisco who has watched all of his friends leave one by one ever since 2019 when SF turned to sh*t (literally). I’m hoping I can convince him to move here, at least temporarily.
I’m just wondering, how easy is it to get bartending gigs in Tulsa? He’s worked in fancy hotel bars and is currently working private parties.
I know this may not be the correct sub for this question, but I would like to get responses without getting ads/offers, so I'm taking a shot.
I am active on reddit in other subs, but this is my first time on this sub.
I live in south Tulsa and have used the $60/visit six visits a year type lawn treating service but those have not worked out. I would be more than willing to pay a lot more for a lawn that isn't full of weeds (and destroyed by moles, but I know that's its own issue). At this point my wife and I are older and are interested in even more services (leaf removal, flower garden maintenance, etc.) and would love to arrange some kind of package deal, but when I found a company online that looked like it would work (not sure if it's okay to name them here), I called and asked for them to come out and have a conversation about how best our needs could be matched up with their services and was pretty much told they don't do that. You either fill out the online form and get a quote, or skip it, no one is coming over. Naturally that gave me all sorts of warm fuzzies about their commitment to personalized customer service.
So anyway, I would love to get recommendations. Can anyone recommend a lawn and garden maintenance service (weed control/fertilization/reseeding, maybe more) that actually cares and does a good job? I still do my own mowing and edging, but just about everything else can go into a package of services I'm perfect willing to pay more to get done and done right.
Thanks!
Terrible service unless you're a new customer or new buyer (explained). They almost broke my engine through insane incompetence.
I bought my current car at this dealership in 2021/2022. At the time, i was given a written statement saying they would fix any problems with the car at time of sale. They backslid on this promise, saying the sales person was not authorized to give such a promise, and we settled for some maintenance credit, and a broken sunroof.
Fast forward to now, I go in for my usual oil change, they let me know I need a brake job, which I schedule for the next day. On the way home I smell oil, but assume it's just shop smell.
The next morning, I go get my brakes resurfaced, and on the ticket I see that the complementary inspection showed no issues. On the way home, I smell oil again, but again think "they just inspected it while it was on a lift for the brakes, surely it's just shop smell".
The next day, I find a puddle of oil, oil all over the bottom of the engine. I call, they tell me the inspection listed on my ticket wasn't actually done, because they had seen the car the day before anyway.
When I go to the shop for a THIRD time that week, they discover that they put on the oil filter WITHOUT A GASKET. They said it was quote: "leaking like a sieve".
There are two steps to installing an oil filter: 1. put oil on the gasket. 2. Hand tighten. Only a toddler would fail both of these steps. In no world would you miss that there was no gasket to oil, and when tightening, the metal on metal contact should have been a dead giveaway.
I had to catch this issue myself, after being lied to on my ticket (saying the inspection was clean with there was actually no inspection), and all I received was a credit for a free oil change the next time around. No apology for the blatant lie and incompetence, just a future refund for a botched service that could have destroyed my car.
I emailed head of service Wayne Arnett about this issue on November 16th, and have received no response.
during the initial oil change, I asked about getting a detail, and was told I could not get a detail, they were too busy with new sales.
Even if you purchase your car here, finance your car here, and maintain your car here, you will play second fiddle to new customers.
Run, don't walk, from regional hyundai.
I bought a permanent smart rgbww lights for the outside of my house. I was planning on using this all year round instead of only during christmas season. Anyone know a good company who does these kinds of installation? Not exactly sure how it works since I haven’t used any of the christmas light installation companies’ services yet.
What’s going on in Tulsa today? Anyone know of any good events going on?
