Hi there. I'll do an Erasmus Semester in spring and will be studying almost entirely in Gløshaugen. But I love climbing and bouldering and will therefore be commuting regularly to leangen and visit friends who will stay in moholt.
I did not receive an sit code so far and I'm currently on their waiting list. I've got 2 possible places to rent to choose from:
Does anyone have experience with one of those landlords? How is the surrounding areas to live in?
Thanks a lot :)
hverdagslige capser
I apologize for the rant. If this isn’t suitable to be published here, admin, please feel free to delete it. This is a throwaway account for obvious reasons.
I’m an immigrant and have been living in Norway for a few years now. Im highly educated, so im considered a skilled worker by UDI. Until recently, I’ve never had financial problems. Despite having a very restrictive work visa, I’ve always managed to live frugally and make ends meet.
However, this year has been incredibly difficult—worse than I could have imagined. After the first quarter of the year, every single project and freelance job disappeared, leaving me struggling to survive. I’ve fallen into debt, haven’t been able to pay rent for the past two months, and currently have zero income. I have drained every single resource i had, including asking family and friends for help (they are not in a very comfortable situation themselves).
As of today, I don’t even have food. I haven’t eaten a proper meal in two days (EDIT: this is no longer the case)
I’ve tried to apply for any assistance I could get from NAV (I have never ever even gone on sick leave, my use of social welfare so far has been zero), but they told me that, as a self-employed immigrant, I’m expected to sustain myself—otherwise, I should leave the country. I would leave if I could afford the ticket, but I can’t.
I also reached out to organizations with food distribution programs, but they haven’t responded to my emails. When I showed up at one in person, they simply told me, “Come back next month.” I also showed up at another different organization, and they refused help because I don't have children so It seems it would be ok for me to starve.
I’m well aware that it’s no one’s responsibility to feed me, but it feels deeply unfair for state agencies and social organizations to publicly offer help only to ignore or refuse requests from those who need it most. Anyone with a sense of empathy would understand that asking for something as basic as food is an act of desperation. It takes vulnerability to reach out, and the last thing anyone in that position needs is to be humiliated by being ignored or dismissed.
Telling someone asking for food to “come back next month” or to "leave the country" shows a shocking lack of understanding. Food is a necessity now, not in a month, and leaving the country you call home is not as easy or an immediate solution. This reflects how disconnected some people in these positions are from the reality of poverty. They’ve likely never experienced hunger themselves, so they treat it as a mundane issue rather than the crisis it is.
If you can’t deliver on the help you claim to offer, at the very least, provide an alternative or show some compassion. Don’t turn away people in their most vulnerable moments.
I don’t know what to do anymore. I thought I was living in a more compassionate city, but all I’ve found is apathy. I’m deeply depressed, I cry every day, and I see no way out of this situation.
Anyways, with a little bit of luck maybe i get struck by lightning or hit by a car and I don't have to deal with this humiliation any more.
EDIT: With this, I'm not expecting or demanding any help from any person here, I know things are hard for everyone. I'm just frustrated.
EDIT 2: I'm hoping someone from Caritas Trondheim sees this post, so they never ever again tell anyone to "come back next month".
EDIT 3: Even when the intention of my post was not to demand help but to put the topic of state and social organizations failing at their mission on blast, people here has responded in a very overwhelming way and for that, Im thankful. You have shown the kindness and readiness I couldnt find out there with the organized assistance.
Hi!
I'm coming to Trondheim in Jan/Feb and am looking for a room to rent. I've seen an ad by this company/site (https://www.boligitrondheim.com/) , but I don't know if it's trustable or not. I can't find any bad reviews and they are ID verified on hybel.no and have been an user for 11 years. What do you think? Takk!
heii, i used to be a member of SiT and went to their gyms but now that i graduated and my membership ended im wondering if i should try other gyms or go back to SiT gyms since i can still enroll this year, my question is, are other gyms like Impulse for example since its close to me as busy as the Sit gyms? because its overwhelming sometimes when theres lots of people.
Takk!
Takk

Does anyone here know of any stores that sell south american groceries in Trondheim?
I'm a student moving to Trondheim for a few months in January looking for a part-time job and open to most things.
I’m fluent in Norwegian (although my writing isn't great), thinking to go around to apply to cafes and restaurants and maybe kindergartens, is it best to go in person and any suggestions for places to check out?
Thanks
Hey everyone! My British friends are visiting me in Trondheim this December, and they're asking for the ultimate Nordic experience🙈 They're dreaming of things like reindeer encounters, dog sledding, northern lights, and stunning scenic views. In their minds, Trondheim is a mix between Lapland and St.Moritz!😅 I'd love some recommendations to make this trip special. I do have a car, so suggestions for things to do around Trøndelag are more than welcome. Thanks in advance!🙏
Anything from cultural, beautiful nature, comedy clubs, entertainment, anything we HAVE to witness while here?
Love from Denmark!
I struggle to book a SPA massage on Sunday (for a birthday).
My usual place is closed on Sunday.
Do you know any that are open on a Sunday?
Takk
Kl. 20:45. Onsdag kveld.
Noen forslag?
Love board games. Is there a board game shop here (where often runs by a mega fan and full of advice owner)?
Anbefalinger?
I am living in Trondheim until dec 15th, and have wanted to hear some live black metal or punk rock in the city since I moved here in august, but haven't really found any. I saw one hardcore show at fru Lundgren a week ago circa, but looking for more. Does anyone know about any black metal or other extreme metal concert in the next couple of weeks? or punk rock? thank you
Hei!
I'm staying in Trondheim for Christmas and New Year, could you share some recommendations for the questions below?
Tusen takkk!
Hei,
for my wife's birthday, I'd like to go to a brunch, on a sunday.
What would be your best recommendation? Just for two people, with great quantity and quality food.
Tusen takk!
Edit: we eat mostly vegetarian (but fish and see food is totally ok! Just not meat or chicken)
Hi everyone!
I'm moving to Trondheim in February for a 4-month research stay, and I'll be attending the Dragvoll campus. I'm currently looking for a place to rent and have checked out Finn.no, Hybel.no and a Facebook group.
Do you have any tips on which areas are most convenient for commuting to Dragvoll? Also, are there other websites or platforms you'd recommend for finding rentals?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hei!
