Return to work is coming, and I don't have a lot of reference points for my office, so looking for general advice! Ideally looking for specific cuts, brands, or materials that are affirming but not super noticeable. I'm socially transitioning first (early stages), but would love some affirming options to mix in. I plan to get some women's button downs, but would love other ideas! TIA!
If there's nowhere that sells harnesses that would fit me does anyone have recommendations for where to order a custom one? I live in the UK but I can order it from abroad.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
i feel like this is kind of a dumb question, but, is it normal to do so? i started wearing mini skirts a few months ago, but now i’m wearing them almost all of the time (mainly cuz they’re comfortable and they give me gender euphoria) but is it normal? do any cis women do that?
It would be amazing if there were transfriendly stylists in every major city to assist those of us new to expressing ourselves in a different gender than birth. What do y'all think?
i live in Australia if that helps (i cant grow it out because i do cadets and if you need a pic dm for the hair color ext)
Hi I'm looking for places or ideas for shoes (MTF). I wear a men's 14.5 and already have to buy most of my men's shoes online or from DXL and am just at a loss as to where to find more feminine shoes that big
trans nb/genderfluid/demigirl/whatever here. 4 months on hrt so far. i have a fairly sharp jawline and no hair style to speak of. my facial style is similar to those male blonde druggies you see on tv except a bit softer. im a chem phd student so i have to be able to be safe. a ponytail is cute and all but i was wondering if there are alternatives to it as when i look up it can rub on my skin, and its even worse when im not wearing a ponytail.
suggestions?
I got my first skirt at Goodwill the other day?! I just need to know what to match with it.
Edit: I know that I accidentally messed up the title
Have a pretty big forehead & long face (hopefully FFS in the next year or two), need a better hair cut then what I've been going with. Copied a few reference images from creators I like - think they're primarily wolf cuts? Need something that gives forehead coverage & volume to take away from face. Opinions on if they'll fit?
I can’t seem to make a skirt work with any outfit. It always seems to look terrible on me. I can’t really wear tight skirts for likely obvious reasons, and the advice I’ve seen of “tight top with loose bottoms” isn’t really working either. I haven’t been able to start HRT yet and I’m not very thin, which gives me absolutely terrible dysphoria if I wear a tight top. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight in the last year (for health reasons) and have gone down a shirt size since the last time I tried, so I decided to try to make it work again. Despite being much more content with my figure in general, I still couldn’t bear to look at myself in the mirror wearing a tight shirt. Made me feel absolutely terrible.
I tried a lot of different combinations of basically everything I have in my closet with that skirt and I can’t seem to find anything that looks good with it. The one I have is kind of a stereotypical skater skirt. Everything I try looks awkward at best and sends me spiraling into dysphoria at worst. How do you personally style skirts? I’m out of ideas.
i started wearing skirts pretty recently, and i still don’t really understand, how am i supposed to sit in them? is my skin supposed to touch the surface i’m sitting on? and am i supposed to cross my legs or should i just keep them closed? and what if someone sees my panties on accident?
update: thank you all very much for the advice
Features I am looking for:
Because I feel like someone will have an anurism if I don't mention the popular trans specific swimwear brands, here they are, and I'll explain after why they are not applicable.
While I find trans oriented and tucking brands excellent for most people, I find them deficient for myself and my criteria. I don’t tuck, nor want to tuck. I firmly believe that any attempt to hide the genitalia I have is not authentic to myself and who I am. Therefore, I want non-compressive swimwear.
Each section will give a list of brands and search terms (if available). The first overarching section is going to cover swimsuits by cut (one piece, boyleg or unitard, bikini) The second overarching section will cover more coverage and more risque swimwear matching the above criterias.
Side note: what plus size means in this article is the brand has at least one selection above a waist size of 44 inches.
Let's get to it!
These styles are great if you are plus sized. There is very little worry about flashing anything with these swim styles, while still having a bulge present.
Search terms are simply “boyleg” and “unitard”. Too many brands to list, and your search terms here should take you to finding these suits.
What I am often looking for here are brands that will have the same prints and patterns for men and women, selling the tops and bottoms separately, AND sell "men's" briefs or even thongs. Incidentally, this guide also serves as a guide for if a masc and female couple want to wear matching swimwear, without the guy in board shorts.
Tips for navigating this: Find the color/pattern name you like in the mens briefs on a brands website, and then search the brand's site for that pattern name to pull up all instances of products that use that pattern, thus easily finding the accompanying female top. Not all prints will have matching female counterparts, but a fair number will. You can also do the inverse and go for the female top prints/design to finding matching men’s briefs.
For the brand recommendations, you’ll find a lot of triathlon/performance athletic wear brands, which is not what I anticipated. These tend to use the same fabrics for men's and women's wear, which is pretty great for this category.
By no means is the brand recommendations here complete, as there’s plenty of these brands that fulfill this pattern, yet make very little attempts to then mark themselves as trans friendly. Also, the unfortunate drawbacks is many of these athletic brands are not plus size friendly.
Side note: while building this list, I’ve incidentally assembled the best brands for “his and her” swimsuits that do not have the man/masc person in trunks/shorts, but instead in a pair of briefs for him. Do with that information as you will.
Search terms are less a thing for this bikini category, as most of what is out there does not market itself as trans or trans friendly, nor does SEO to ping on the term gusset or adjacent terms. “His and hers swimsuits” searches only lead to where there is masc board shorts, almost never masc briefs or bikinis. This brand list is the reason I assembled this list, because nothing like this exists or is searchable out there.
In this category you'll find a lot of places will add a swim skirt for additional coverage, will lean towards more torso coverage, and bottom coverage, and are often size inclusive. At the very extreme end of full coverage is swim burkas, sometimes labeled as “burkinis” (😂😂😂). These swim garments will cover a person’s arms and legs, to the wrists and ankles respectively. While these are rarely for trans people (unless you’re really worried about skin cancer), I’m covering the whole spectrum here.
TbH, this category interests me the least but had a fair number of brands. Thus, the brand list is short, and the search terms are longer.
Same notes from the bikini briefs section about selling tops and bottoms separately, and serving men and women with the same style patterns. And same advice about finding the pattern in men’s thongs and searching the site to find the fem tops with the same pattern. While I don't have search terms for this category, you'll often have a better time finding the more risqué cuts from brands based in Florida, California, Australia, & New Zealand.
Skinz and tangaland24 both do plus sizing (thong waist > 44in)
As far as search terms for this category, there’s not any more sellers meeting the criteria beyond those listed here, at least that I could find. Searching for men's thongs won't get you super far, as most catering to thong wearers that identify their audiance as men, do not also sell to women. Most Etsy sellers cater to a singular gender, or trans people.
Honorable mentions (theses didn’t fit in any particular category, but I found them interesting in my search)
That's all for now 😁. If you are searching with the same criteria as me, I hope this helps you find your next swimsuit!
Hi!
I'm trying to find underwear, preferrably boyshorts, to conceal any kind of bulge up front when I'm wearing jeans, cargo pants, etc. So it doesn't have to be super smooth up front, just compressing.
I'm overweight and only a few months into estrogen, so I don't think any mid to high waisted pairs will fit me properly, only low waisted.
I mention that I'm in Canada because most of the recommendations I've seen either aren't available at all, or are upwards of $40 a pair (plus shipping, which is usually around $20 from the US).
If my best option truly is just to buy the expensive underwear purpose built for this, which one is best?
Thank you :3
Heya! So I'm starting to present full time once my semester starts again at uni! And I've decided I'm going for a sorta grungey rockergirl look! I love my leather, studs etc! Even if it in no way matches my nerdy personality lol. So I was just wondering if anyone had any tips? Regarding either clothes or makeup, particularly the latter because I suck at it.
So, to start, I'm your classical boymoder. Messy hair, hoodies, skinny jeans and converse wearing boymoder. I've been trans since I was 15, Now I'm pushing 20 (yet still people think I'm 14 [thanks hrt]), even though I'm closeted (thanks mom and conversion therapy), somehow I pass kinda decently, like full blown interactions passing. And I'm going to Orlando all by myself in a few days, and I have around 2k USD to spend wherever I feel like spending;
I'm slender, but my proportions are kinda awful (my three sizes are in cm: 84, 73, 93, which gives me a 0.8 whr), I'm also 170cm tall. I weight 60kg, and I'm finally hitting the gym this year to fix by body shape with muscle. I'm also comically shy, it has been a few years since I last talked to a cashier (or anyone besides my childhood friends [they think I'm detrans for some reason and I'll leave at that]),
I'm making a list of things I'd like to buy, which should include:
>Hair stuff (idk much about brands, and my hair is a 2c/3a)
>Cosmetics in general (So far I've have: tinted foundation, eyeliner, mascara, peach lipstick)
>Underwear (I know boyshorts and bralletes are way to go, though, my boobs are kinda small since I have very little body fat [I'll be changing that since I'll start to eat like a regular human being)
>Clothes, I don't really know what I like besides my regular combo (I think overalls are cute tho) I don't want anything flashy, and also don't know if I want something that's too girly because I'd be scared of using it.
>Grooming things, maybe something to style my eyebrows or
I don't know if I should add more items to the list since this is my golden opportunity, and I think I wrote all the necessary information that's pertinent (and non pertinent) to the subject. Plus, that's completely non pertinent but I'm feeling AWFUL this last days, It's been a month since anyone thought I was a real woman, and I thought about girlmoding at Orlando, but then I imagined the hulking monstrocity (me) in makeup and womens clothes and started crying.
Anyways, if you read this far, thanks for the patience, and sorry for the inconvenience.
I have some waist/hip definition but almost nothing for a butt it feels like. Also tall (6'1 ish). Would love some recommendations for jeans that would work well with this body type. Brands and cuts that are relevant would both be appreciated! Thanks
Heya! I love swimming! But I haven't been able to do it in a long time because of the dysphoria idk it makes me super uncomfy. But I'm in talks to potentially go on holiday with friends later this year and as such will require some swimwear of some description! Does anyone have any recommendations for stuff that's safe on the genitals and, importantly, good looking!
Hello! I'm here more for curiosity's sake as my hair isn't long enough yet to really style. But I like planning as it keeps me sane! So I'm going for an aesthetic that is kinda tomboyish and kinda rockergirl! I love my studs, leather and all that stuff! But I'm completely clueless as to what I could do for my hair! I'm pretty open to shy suggestions just to get the ball rolling!
some info: i’m 5’8, the skirts that i wear are flowy and not tight. i wear just panties under them cuz i can’t stand the way safety shorts feel
i came out as nonbinary like 5-ish years ago, and fully embraced the aspect of being transfem in a lot of ways, but i never had the time, money, or knowledge to dress more femme, and this puts me in a really tough spot when it comes to events that expect somewhat formal wear, especially since my taste in fashion has a hard time getting away from what i would wear at a dive bar hardcore show. yapping over lets get to the point my dad is getting remarried and me and my sister are thinking about matching goth (trad or victorian, havent fully decided yet). lock in artistically gifted trans women lend me your forbidden cosmic knowledge
Hey, I am a trans guy, pre everything for now and I wanted to ask if this outfit looks too baggy. Or what I could do to make it look better.
It definitely makes me feel better compared to my tighter clothing (especially my waist and chest), but I have no idea if it looks good or if it makes me look too small, I’m not sure.
Thanks you.
Whenever I try something new that doesn’t have sleeves, my upper arms remind me that living life as a man for 35+ years and wearing the standard short sleeve t-shirt or button up that is the only allowable fashion, has given me a seemingly permanent farmer’s tan. It’s a surprising source of dysphoria but I honestly don’t really know what to do about it. I’m not publicly out yet so I can’t just go around wearing sleeveless tops. It’s winter so I can’t really stand out in my yard with no shirt on. Even if I could I don’t really have the time to do it regularly. I think my gym has tanning beds but I also don’t want cancer…. The people I knew growing up that used them with any regularity look like dehydrated leather these days.
I’m kind of at a loss for what I can do. Anyone else have experience suddenly showing off skin that’s never seen the light of day before?
I'm a 29 year old rower who's somewhat let herself go a little. So I've got a bit of a belly, I'm pre-HRT, and I've got very broad shoulders.
Bright side is that my hips are apparently great and, when I've got makeup on, I can make my face work pretty well. I'm mostly looking for stuff I can wear to work at my new job at a publishing house, so professional clothes, but also some casual clothes.
I'm really struggling with the midsection ratio of belly to no-boobs to shoulders though.
Any advice!?
Thankies!
Hi! I'm not sure if this is solely a binary trans reddit, so forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place. I identify as genderfluid or bigender- I feel as though either of these labels describes my gender very well. I've been in combat sports for quite some time, began lifting my senior year of highschool and now weigh ~165 lbs. at 5'7 with around 10-12% bf. I love my physique and I'm very proud of what I've achieved with myself, however I've run into an issue with expressing my femininity because of it.
I have very broad shoulders and very narrow hips, size 29 in the waist and a men's large or extra large for my shirts, to get a better idea of how broad my shoulders/chest actually are.
I use long sleeves and generally just wear baggy, more feminine clothing because I feel as though tighter fitting feminine clothes show people that I'm "just a man wearing women's clothing" because of my muscle mass- this makes me uncomfortable and I don't wish to be perceived like this.
This brings me to my question; how can I appear more feminine in tighter clothing? I want to appear curvy in tighter fitting clothes and not like a buff cis man crossdressing. My main issue is that the ratio of my hips to shoulders are EXTREMELY masculine. I was thinking of looking into hip/butt shape wear to make the ratio between my hips and shoulders look more feminine, but I don't know where to start shopping and I need options that aren't going break the bank and that are preferably not too obviously padding. I don't really have chest dysphoria, though if someone has advice for breast shape wear it would be appreciated as well since this adds to the curviness I want to achieve.
I love my physique and my body; it is only when I try to express my feminine side through clothing that I feel dysphoria, because I feel as though I look "too masculine" for the outfit. It makes me feel like I can't also be a woman, and I'm just a man and it's all I'll ever be or be perceived as. This is partly why I don't want to take HRT; I love having a male body when I'm naked and staring in the mirror, or flexing my biceps for a gym picture- but it is extremely limiting as far as options go for feminine clothing choices that don't make me feel dysphoric. I'd like to "pass" as a woman (at least when I want to express my femininity) or be able to be perceived as both normally without being overly masculine. (IPL soon 🙂↕️)
TLDR- I'm a buff AMAB enby trying to look feminine in tighter fitting clothing, I don't want to change my body. how do I pass as someone with broad shoulders/narrow hips while avoiding baggy clothing? Is shapewear the best option, and where do I begin shopping without breaking the bank?
Up til now while transitioning I've been able to wear whatever I want to work and kept a casual, mildly alternative and relatively young look (I'm in my early thirties. Now I am looking at jobs that are most likely going to require business casual. I think I can overall figure out tall person friendly clothes but where I get hung up is shoes. Especially on a budget. And especially for someone with M14/W15-16/(maybe)EU48.
Most of what I can find are the weird amazon brands that actually carry women's in my size. I've had real mixed result as far as their sizing goes. But all the quality is of course terrible. So I'm wondering if anyone else has advice.
I’ve become really self conscious about my shoulders because they bigger than my hips And wanted to get into cargo pants to Even out my proportions but I tried on cargo pants and the seem too baggy, my crotch ruined it and felt very boyish. If it helps with advice my shoulders are 16 inches, im 55k and 5,4 and have visible hips when I wear tight shirts what type of cargo pants should I wear
(If girl branded cargo pants are too tight on the crotch area I don’t mind any recommendations on that arnt woman branded)
What clothes should I use. 5,4 55k and 16 inche shoulders and hips visible if I wear tight shirts. What should I wear so I feel comfortable? (Lose shirts make my body look like a t shape and makes me sad)
(Also it summer so it’s very hot weather)
Just got an ad for this site call femzai. Has anyone else heard of it or brought from them? I’m kinda curious. Made the mistake of looking at the comments on the Facebook page
Women tall sizing or straight sizing is long is handy for long torso . Problem is that a lot of the women section is limited. And show too much , i like having my neck of shirts round and no cleavage. One i bought to try is from shein but i want better quality. Women section kind sucks , im thinking of go to stores old women buy or any stores covers more.
