If the SC42-DMs start entering Metro-North Service, I really do also hope the Shoreliners get an overhaul and refurbishment with a more modern and refurbished interior with power outlets, PTC and new automated digital destination boards and announcements.
Like, could a train attach a slug unit on a class one railroad and run a trip at speed to help prevent wheel slip with such long trains? From my basic understanding they just redistribute power from the main locomotive to extra traction motors for more even power distribution.
Apparently, this monster Norfolk Southern V18 train was fresh out of the Port of Norfolk pulling a little bit of everything they could load onto it.
This is Norfolk Southern 36T (a shortline that used to run between nothern Pennsylvania and New York state) loaded with everything from M.O.W equipment, steel pipes, brand new automobiles, general freight, and international intermodal containers.
Just did two trips on Trenitalia Intercity. Very cool loco hauled push pull consists which are getting more and more rare in the age of EMUs. But damn the brakes are squeaky… like deafening loud squeaky… is it a common problem with shoe brakes or is there something else to it?
I'm going to be real, the only reason I want this route is so I can recreate the Cheyenne frontier days train. If this route already exists, then I would like to know about it, and have a link to it. Thanks again!
The train will split in two after a few more stops.
Like how did they send in their orders? How did the builders recieve said orders? How did they pay for them? Etc. Etc. Stuff like that?
This has been a question that's been living rent-free in my head so now I'm evicting it
