Is T-Mobile deploying mmWave in airports? What's their airport strategy?

Been traveling quite a bit lately and noticed that while Verizon and AT&T have visibly implemented mmWave in several airports, I haven't seen much regarding T-Mobile's presence in this area.

Does anyone have insights or updates on T-Mobile's strategy for deploying mmWave technology in airports? Are they actively installing mmWave at airports, or are they focusing on different types of network enhancements (n41?) in these areas?

It would be great to understand what T-Mobile is planning, especially since airport connectivity can greatly enhance the travel experience. If you work in the industry or have noticed any T-Mobile mmWave installations, your insights would be much appreciated

My wife is leaving the country for up to a year.

We have a Go5g plus plan with 3 lines , of which we only use 2. She will be using a local sim during that time and not needing the USA line.

Is there anyway that we can not continue to pay for that line but also save it for future use when she returns? I understand that we can port it out to google voice , but her number is also tied to Chase and probably other websites that use the number as the 2fa and I'm worried that once it becomes a voip number, it will stop working as the 2FA.

iPhone 15 Is Stuck In SOS Mode

Hello so earlier today my phone was working just fine. Later on I noticed my phone running a bit slower than usual and saw that it was SOS mode. I’ve tried resetting the network and every other tip to try to somehow get it off SOS mode but to no avail. And of course I can’t call customer service because my phone isn’t “connected to a network”. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem and can anybody help point me in the right direction?

$10 Business Tablet Plan Video Quality Question

I'm just looking for some data points out there!

BASELINE INFO: This old plan had unlimited tablet data (limited hotspot) and SD video, but one could add the HDPASS for allegedly 1080p quality. I have two of these lines (with the HDPASS added)

SITUATION: As a test, I put this SIM into a GL INET SPITZ AX3000 and repaired the IMEI and TTL settings. I have it on its Wi-Fi network, etc., and it works well—almost too well. Here is what I mean.

The standard Ookla speed test is about 380 down / 20 up, which is excellent. And here is where things get weird. When doing the Fast.com test for video, I expected the download speed to cap out at 6 Meg or so for the 1080p, but it was 360 meg down! In other words, it doesn't seem the plan is throttling the video. Again, I'm not complaining.

PS: This is repeatable on a phone and computer without any VPN (as folks have used it as a workaround).

Has anyone else noticed this or has any explanations? Again, this is more for informational purposes, but I am not sure if this is a fluke or something that is now "common" for this plan.

Which of these phones would be the best option?

Our rather old 4G phones are no longer communicating with the tower properly and the battery is running down after a handful of hours due to signal issues. We have confirmed that the proper signals are not available for the new upgrades on the tower, so the phone is starving part of the time.

Tmobile has offered to pay for the monthly installments via a monthly credit for the following 5G phones:
Motorola Moto g 5G 2023
Moto G 5G - 2024
Nokia G310 5G
T-Mobile REVVL 6x 5G
T-Mobile REVVL 6x Pro 5G

It looks like 5G is the only way to go now, anyway. The reviews on both of the T-Mobile phones look quite bad, so I'm avoiding both of those (2-ish stars out of 5). That leaves us with Motorola Moto g 5G 2023, Moto G 5G - 2024 or Nokia G310 5G.

Any suggestions based on past experience? Anyone out there had/have one of these? Battery life is most important, but of course I want the phone to be decent, of course. Some have worse quirks than others. Most cameras are already good on virtually every phone. I don't watch movies on it. I just need a more recent phone and I do a lot of online surveys via apps and they are always updating those apps with each new Android version. Anyone know how far 'up' these three will upgrade to Android-wise? Is there an advantage of one over the other in that sense or are all of them pretty much ready to upgrade to whatever new Android version?

I'm leaning more towards the Moto G 5G 2023 version because the screen resolution is higher and it has the Snapdragon Gen 6 v1 processor vs the Snapdragon 4 on the 2024 model with less screen resolution.

I like the Gorilla Glass 3 and aluminum frame w/Android 13 on the Nokia, though. In exchange, resolution is lower than the Moto 2023 version and also the Nokia has the slower Snapdragon 4 processor.

Another International Roaming Question: Need Simple Step-by-Step Advice

The long and short of it:
We have two lines on TM Essentials, both using iPhone 14s.
Will soon be in Ireland and Scotland for ten days.
TM seems to claim that texting (assuming just SMS?) is free internationally, so we would like to have that available.
Want to avoid ANY roaming charges. TM Chat Customer Support (which blows) cannot tell me exactly what to do. Two different agents tried to explain what seemed to be different methods, but honestly, I came away more confused than before.
Plan to forward both lines to Google Voice to avoid incoming calls & voicemail charges.

Aware of the two blocking options available per line in TM settings (Block Charged International Roaming and Block International Roaming (including Charged International Roaming)), both of which are a little on the confusing side. One TM Chat Agents said use the first, the other said use the second. Huh? Which should be used to block incoming calls & voicemail but leave texting available?
What would you do given the situation/options? Thanks!

Want to buy unlocked iphone 15 uprgrading from 11 pro - have questions

Hello! As the title states, I want to buy an unlocked iphone 15 and currently have an iphone 11 pro.

I tried to do this through apple today but when I went to switch, t-mobile said that I had to switch plans which I don’t want to do.

If i bought an unlocked phone outright, would I be able to use it with my old plan? it’s one of those old unlimited data plans that I’ve had forever.

Plan to trade in to apple or amazon most likely for some credit, unless there is a better option. I have sold to Gazelle in the past with decent results.

Thanks!

In store fees

I am going to upgrade two iPhones, add a new line and new phone, Switch from Mag max to go5g, and wouldn't turn down a good deal on a watch.

Will I have to pay connection fees or any of those $30 or $35 fees, etc to have someone do all of this in the store versus me doing it online? Or, what would my total convenience fee be per line?

Longtime TMobile Internet user. Can I upgrade my modem to a new one?

I'm currently using the Nokia modem and since then they have released new versions. Would it be possible to get one of the newer models such as the Arcadyan or Sagecom?

Tmobile employees…

Was there an email recently that said we can not audio record in the store? We had someone come in today who was obviously on drugs and he started harassing everyone so I audio recorded it in case we had to call the cops or in case we would need it for whatever reason. One of my coworkers said I could get fired for doing that?? Also we live in Texas which is a state where it is legal to record as long as one party is aware.

Where to file a complaint?

I opened a new account with 4 lines with the promo - 4 iphone 15 for free ($830 discount) when trade in 4 eligible phones. SE 3rd ELIGIBLE *

They received my traded in devices, I had the confirmation.

the second month tmobile switched my military magenta to regular one and dropped my promo, it then add BOGO promo instead.

update: this happened since Feb, I have to call each month to ask them fix the promo issue and issue me missing credit. This morning the rep didnt want to help me. I already filed couple complaints online through state and BBB.

55 Plan v Comparable Standard Plan

Sooo, why are the 55 plans an additional $5/month compared to the standard option plan for that tier? The example in the photo shows identical benefits with the higher price set for the 55+ group—is this not meant to be a discount or cost I ncentive for older customers who may have fewer options and/or lower income?

Is the iPhone trade-in instant credit contingent on keeping your line active for 24 months?

I got an iPhone 14 Pro in 2022. T-Mobile gave me a $220 instant credit for my trade-in, and $32.50 is being credited on every bill. I have a few cycles left before the device is fully paid off but I want to port my number out and get on my partner's plan. I know I am giving up the $32.50 credit, but the alternative still works out to be much cheaper overall. I know I have to pay the remaining balance on the phone, but there should otherwise be no problems or other penalties right?

Porting out one of my two paid lines

We have had a grandfathered Simple Choice North America plan since 2012. It’s two lines for $80 plus tax and then we have 3 free lines.

I just took a new job with a company provided cell phone and the company uses Verizon. I do not want to have two phones, nor do I want to change my number. How can I port out my number to Verizon without losing any of my free lines? I know we need two paid lines, so do I have to add a line and then port mine out? I want to do this without any additional charges on our monthly bill.

Will this work to get the new customer deals?

We currently have 4 lines of service and 3 connected watches. One of my family members wants to upgrade to a new iPhone and we saw that there is a discount of $800 for a new line of service and I am wondering if the below will work to get it.

  1. Get new line of service and the deal for the phone.
  2. Swap the new number to the old iPhone and the old number to new iPhone.
  3. Cancel service that has the old iPhone with the new number.

thoughts?

Why does this happen? I never blocked the person that I’m trying to contact? I’ve been able to text with them in the last and all the sudden this happens.

Adding a Third e-Sim to iphone

Hi,

I'd like to add a third e-Sim to my phone. I understand that I can't have three active at the same time, but want to be able to switch between a couple of numbers. 611 tells me that I need to give them my IMEI that that would replace the eSim currently associated with that IMEI on my line. I want to add a third. 611 just seemed really really confused. Does anyone know how to do this?

When will T-Mobile make 5G SA the default over NSA for enhanced call quality?

In Miami I've I've noticed a significant improvement in call quality when manually forcing my Pixel 8 Pro to use 5G Standalone (SA) mode, compared to Non-Standalone (NSA) mode. However, on my iPhone, I can't force 5G SA, and the call quality noticeably suffers.

Does anyone know if T-Mobile plans to make 5G SA the default setting to ensure consistently better call quality across all devices?

What has your experience been with 5G SA vs. NSA in terms of call performance?

Charged For Phone Didn’t Order

So I put a claim with assurant and they had sent me 2 phones. 1 for my claim and 1 I never ordered like a month after I got the first one. They have no record of a second claim or sending me the phone nor does tmobile.

Assurant is charging me for the second me. They refuse to credit my account unless they get the phone back. I’m happy to return the phone but told them they need to credit my account first.

It’s basically been a circular motion of convos t mobile sends me to assurant then assurant to T-Mobile. I also understand it’s illegal to charge for something the person didn’t order.

Nobody is helping here though. Should I pay and dispute the charge? I don’t trust assurant to send them the phone first.

Network experience result from Network Pass?

I’m a disgruntled long term Verizon customer looking to switch. I downloaded the T-Mobile Network Pass and used it for 90 days. At the end of the 90 days, the data showed this:

Network experience 59/100

Time connected to network 100%

Does anyone know if 59/100 is good or bad?

It seemed like both services had areas where I went down to 1-2 bars so I think it may be a wash? I’m nervous because I was hoping it would be a better %.

I am actually most unhappy with Verizon for voice calls because there are several near dead spots during my commute. This did seem better with T-Mobile but it was hard to fully access since you need to use a different phone number for the Network Pass. I didn’t want to be calling multiple people from a rando number so I basically only tried it with my mom who talks on a landline and doesn’t know where I’m calling from and my partner who knew about the Network Pass.

Data Roaming and airplane wifi usage

So in around 12 hours i’m taking a flight from Newark to Miami, and then Miami to Freeport in the Bahamas. I’m on a Magenta Max plan, and i intend to use wifi on the first flight. Does anyone know if i can connect my phone to the wifi on the plane through t-mobile, and if so, how do i do it (I use an iPhone). Also, what kind of service do they provide in the bahamas? Any help is appreciated!

Multiple lines on account starting to have issues receiving calls.

I have been on TMOS for about 8 years and the service was better and faster than I had previously with ATT.
Fast forward to about 6 months or so ago we started having intermittent issues with incoming calls on one or two lines. Recently, we have more lines with issues and one that is pretty consistently missing calls now. They go straight to voicemail.

Support suggested we convert those phones to ESIM saying that the SIM cards were about 6 years old amd likely the issue. Doubtful, but sure, whatever; I'll play along.

I've updated two of the lines now to ESIM, but still hasn't gotten any better that we can tell. So far all phones seem to be Android (Pixels and Samsung).

I'm close to calling it quits with T-Mobile.... Any one else experienced this, and how did you fix it? Phones show at least 1/3 service bar, and either 5G or 5G UC. Thanks!

Need help as new customer

Recently purchased a phone and plan off the website, and opted for the number change since my current number is associated with my dad's account. My question is how will T-Mobile tell me what it is? And how to log into T-Mobile account without it? I'm sure I didn't miss anything but I feel like they would've sent an email already. If not is it resolvable over phone if I have the account number associated with the purchase?
