Throat clearing method for Kargyraa always activates epiglottis

I will preface this by saying that I am primarily learning Kargyraa for false cord screaming. A common method to activate false cords is through controlled throat clearing. However in my case it feels like I activate my epiglottis instead of my false folds when I clear my throat. This has led to me being stuck in the first step itself.

I think my problem is that I have never really used my face folds before this at all. Many people learning screaming/Throat singing report how they used to play around with their false folds unknowingly in their childhood. I was never one of them. Two weeks ago I was caught off-guard when I first found my false folds using the sigh method. It felt unlike anything else.

The problem is that requires me to dump my air to even get the false folds vibrating, and the resulting sound is just too airy. I have been told that this is because the sigh method is wrong and that I should learn Kargyraa first. Which had led me here.

A sample of me activating my false folds(there's definitely rattling of my false folds, despite not sounding like it due to the breathiness). https://voca.ro/1ojmoEQWrLdU

Then when i tried again, in the middle of the song... coughing attack. Am i doing something wrong? Is this normal? Is it because of smoking? With normal singing this never happens. Pls help ^^

looking for tips with Borbangnadyr

So I've been throat singing for about 8 years now, mostly in khoomei and dag kargyraa, but I'm absolutely fascinated by borbangnadyr and chylandyk, most of the subtle trills and warbles I can figure out the mechanics behind, but I am at a loss with how byrlang is achieved. Anyone got any insight or resources for helping get the lips a twitchin?

Todays the first day I’ve ever tried this. It keeps getting recommended to me to practice my breathing and metal vocals by doing this. Any tips? How is it?

How did yall learn throat singing? For me, it was accidental while trying to pass hard stools. No joke. Oddly enough, it helps.

Having some trouble learning Kargyraa

Hey y'all! So for some context I've been throat singing in the Khoomei style for about a two years. In the last week I've tried to teach myself Kargyrra. But whenever going lower on the register, I wind up back in Khoomei.

Can anyone offer some insight as to what might be happening and how to fix it?

Tuvan Throat Singing Attempt

Four Minute War

So was scanning over spotify for some new up and coming mongolian throat singers ever since the metallica crossover with HU have become a huge fan of it, and I found this new guy, the Brine Salter on Spotify, some Irish guy doing his music stuff, gave one of his songs a listen to Four Minute War, last thing I expected was to hear an Irish guy mongolian throat sinigng!

Later checked out his reddit page as well where he got some feedback as well, its a small community as well, and have become a fan of it ever since, and heard he might be doing some more throat sining as well soon as he also does enjoy it.

But anyways here is the link for anybody who is interested in hearing some irish guy try out mongolian throat singing, really do recommend it as it is somewhat weird and great at the same time. But yeah irish guy mongolian throat singing here you go!

Chinggis khaanii magtaal help

Hey so I’m wanting to try and learn the song mentioned in the title and I can not for the life of me understand how to pronounce the words of the song like I’m learning Mongolian so over time I’ll be able to understand it but is there like a clip of someone singing it without the instruments in the background just to show people or anything like that? Thanks for the help

Question about overtones and khoomei

Is it normal for the highest overtones I can sing in my normal voice to be higher than what I can sing in my khoomei voice?

Searching for lost YouTube video - man throat singing in white tanktop

Does anyone remember the URL, name of the video or man performing throat singing in a white tank top, solo? It's a very simple video possibly taken in a backyard. The video used to be one of the first to come up when you searched "Tuvan throat singing" from 2019-2021 or so. The man has a distinct, almost compressed sounding voice that I thought was beautiful. I've been trying to find his work for years but have no identifying information. It's been deleted since 2021/22. Thank you so much for your help!

Has anyone tried this course Throat singing | Find your voice of Nature | Udemy ? Is it worth the price, or more precisely - is it better than the stuff on YouTube?
