Why is Riverlea Road blocked off from Cambridge Road?

Ive been in Hamilton a few years now, and have always wondered this. Yesterday I was biking on the river walk, and found myself at the end of Riverlea. Why did those big concrete barriers get put it anyway?

Big police presence on Forest Lake Road by the intersection of Te Rapa Road and Ulster street. Photographer in forensic overalls did anyone hear anything on their scanners or know what happened?

Pukete road advice

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to buy my first home and there is a house for sale on Pukete road next to Sherwood drive(150 meters away).

I have got to know that Sherwood drive is the head office for the mob in Hamilton which makes me wonder is it a safe place to buy my first house?

I have a newborn with me hence I’m extra worried about the location. Don’t want o make a big mistake on my first home hence looking for advice.

Thanks

waikato uni self-catered accommodation

Hi all, I’m hoping to go to Waikato uni next year and I’m looking for info on the student village self-catered accommodation specifically. I would be a first year but I’d be 20 not a school-leaver so I am allowed to live in self catered but I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to find proper info on self-catered rooms (ig because most people applying for them have already been at the uni for a year+). I know people say catered is better but it’s a bit out of my price range especially bc my chronic illness would prevent me from working while studying, and finding a normal off campus flat seems a little too scary for my first year in an area I don’t know at all. So, I was hoping someone could tell me what the student villages flats and student village unilodge are like? It seems that the catered student village dorms are in buildings where you have your dorm room and everything else is communal. Are the student village flats and unilodge the same and you just share the kitchen to make your own food instead of getting meals at the caf or is it more like you’re sharing a house type situation? If anyone happens to have photos that would be amazing. cheers.

What options are there when Noise control fails?

Unfortunately, my wife and I have been dealing with problem neighbours on an almost nightly basis with noise pollution past 10-11am. It isn't nice music either, it's drunken garbage (tonight the flavour is crazy frog on repeat).

We have had poor outcomes with noise control in the past, often calling several times. I don't mind continuously calling Noise control if needed, but it gets annoying really fast and I feel for the lovely lady on the other end of the phone. Honestly that lady is a saint and the most understanding person I've ever chatted to about this kind of problem. A+ on that.

Talking with these neighbours isn't really an option, they're brutish and anti-social and, sadly, in a state house so there's no real options in regard to contacting any higher authority like a property agency (I have tried contacting Housing NZ and they refuse that it's their property every time, so much for getting on top of unruly social housing).

I really want to avoid calling the Police again as they always direct me to noise control.

I have tried contacting my land agent as well and they also keep passing the buck to Noise control.

I really don't want to look at moving because of these people. Until this behaviour became a regular occurrence this place is lovely, safe and convenient for us both and, affordable.

Trying to find work

Hello. I've been trying to find a job so I can help pay for uni and other expenses at home. I've been struggling to find a job, and yes I've applied for A LOT of jobs on SEEK, but to no avail. Does anyone have anything that could help me out? I'd be really grateful to you.

Looking for a professional to fix a cracked brick – Cost estimate? (New to the area+house maintenance)

Hey everyone,

A trailer backed into a house I was temporarily looking after and cracked one of the bricks. There are two extra bricks available, so I need someone to replace the damaged one properly.

I’m new to the area and unfamiliar with local services. Does anyone have a contact for a professional who can handle this kind of repair? Also, any idea of the expected cost?

I’ve attached a picture for reference.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gym

Edit: Preferably a 24/7 gym with an app that has exercise programs on it.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what the cheapest gym in hamilton is? One where it's got a good range to do body building. Also not being locked into a fixed term contract and preferably access to all their gyms and not just your home gym.

Help me impress a guy

Alright so I have just started talking to a guy that I would really like to impress and do something a bit cute for! He mentioned he is keen to try the new v grape flavour and I would like to buy this for him. Does anyone have insight on where this might be stocked/ when it is going to be available around Hamilton?

Anyone know a good separation lawyer in Hamilton?

My now ex just threatened me with getting 'the expensive lawyer that will kick me out of the house' after adding a bit of domestic violence to the mix, and it looks like it's time for me to also get a lawyer, but I don't even know where to start. Had a bad experience years ago where someone charged me a high fee only to tell me they can't help me, so I thought I'd come here for recommendations. Anyone used a lawyer in Hamilton that you found helpful in this type of situation, that doesn't require me to remortgage the house? Made a new account for reasons. Thanks in advance, hope everyone is having a better day than me right now.

UOW paper outlines

Does anyone know when paper outlines for the uni need to be posted by?

During my bachelors degree, they always seemed to be up well in advance. This is not the case for the papers I am taking this year for a post grad qualification and I’m getting a little anxious!

I will be working while studying and am hoping to get any schedule changes or leave booked well in advance, hence the early anxiety.

Looking for the ultimate naan.

Butter, garlic, cheese, chicken, and chilli. Need it STUFFED to the MAXX. So much butter it’s gonna clog my intestines for the next week. For context, I worked in an indian restaurant for two years. Had this for dinner nearly every night I worked.

Hamilton Rhythm Game Hub - a new Discord server for Hamiltonian rhythm gamers, new and old! All are welcome!

Hi everyone, hope this post is allowed here.

I have started up a small Hamilton-based Discord server focused on rhythm gaming, especially arcade games.

If you’re an avid RG player but need more friends for your niche hobby, or if you want to start playing RG’s but don’t want to go by yourself, consider joining us!

The arcade rhythm games we have in Hamilton are Maimai, Taiko no Tatsujin, Pump It Up and Guitar Hero. However non-arcade players are also welcome! Project Diva and osu! players, we see you.

Hamilton’s rhythm game scene is quite small, so we’re pretty chill and accepting of newbies :) And most of us are relatively new to Maimai as we only got it in Hamilton in November.

Anyway, if you are interested in getting a glimpse into the Hamilton rhythm gaming community, join us at https://discord.gg/afFE8rMb Hopefully we see you in the queue at Timezone!
