But I think I did pretty well this year
I've been looking and can't find much. It's been mainly ai designs, and if prefer to buy official merchandise. I saw another reddit post with a link and it was a dead link. Any help would be greatly appreciated ππ½
I found all this for 1700 yen on Yahoo auction. There are a handful of songs on the singles that I don't recognize. I'll try to upload what I can later.
I saw the band at hiroshima over the weekend, and I got my ticket much earlier this time and the venue was much smaller, so I had a much better view of the bend. I noticed Sawao has something tattooed on his left arm; does anybody know what it says? I could make out 'Life is Delicious' but not the second line below that.
A lot of people say Pied Piper is their most underrated album but I think it might actually be this one. Why do people dislike this album? People complain about how clean the guitar tones are, but when it comes to the pillows -- generally known for very punchy, textured tone -- I see the cleanliness as more of a refreshing change of pace than a bad thing. I agree that the production is simple, but... so was most of MY FOOT, and people love that album.
I think is the closest the pillows ever came to making a "pop" record -- and I don't think that's a bad thing. Sawao's songwriting chops really shine on this one. So many of these songs are straight up infectious. I acknowledge that it isn't their most sonically compelling album... but it damn well might be their catchiest.
Looks like we have a new EP soon!
It reminded me of Haruka's Vespa and the "art style" is also weird like FLCL sometimes.
Hey everyone!
First post here, hope I'm not breaking any rules.
I'll be in Japan from November 1st to the 30th, and it seems the Japanese music gods are blessing me with several tours of my favorite bands, but also making me suffer since I can't get most tickets.
I managed to get tickets to AKFG, but no luck for Bump of Chicken (not yet at least), and I REALLY wanna try getting for The Pillows.
From what I saw from the tour dates, the one in Niigata seems to be one I could attend from Tokyo (doing a day trip but 100% worth it). And from here begin my questions spree:
Unfortunately I was not able to make it to Japan in time (flying out tomorrow), but I saw the setlist and it looked phenomenal! For those who were there, how was it? We're there any songs you wished they played, or any you were delighted to hear? Tell us about it!
I'm so ready. π₯
I know i kinda fucked it up lmao
Are all the songs on the LOSTMAN GO TO YESTERDAY boxset remastered or are they all the original single masters as the were originally released back in the day?
I got my ticket already but for those still looking!
This is by far in my top ten Pillows tracks, I need to figure out the chords and the arpeggios and runs for this song, I want to be able to play it soo bad. Iβve played guitar for years, but the distortion always throws me off, and then I focus on the sick bass line. Love this band, any help on the chords would be great! :)
Hello everyone! A few friends and I have planned a trip to Japan for the first weeks of September, and one of the main reasons for our trip was to attend the 9/16 show. Unfortunately, like many of you, we couldn't manage to buy the tickets as they disappeared within a matter of seconds on the website. That's why I'm reaching out for help and guidance on securing tickets for the band's 35th anniversary concert. Any information will be appreciated.
So, Spotify (USA) is still missing a few notable albums like Trial and Pied Piper, where can these albums Spotify doesnβt have be streamed?
Came across these guys looking for Beehive and they're doing some great work. I bet the name comes from the lyrics of Carnival.
New band image on the official site!
Anyone shooting for the Toyosu Pit show general sale this 7/20? Any idea how hard itβll be to get tickets since itβs the 35th anniversary show and also a national holiday? Lol
Hi all! Saw this was already talked about a bit, but wondering if anyone has any tips for getting tickets to the anniversary show in Tokyo on 9/16 this year even though I do not live in Japan?
I understand that the tickets may appear for sale on e+ but I was first attempting to get into the lottery through signing up for pia on the pillows fansite. I was not able to sign up as I don't have a Japanese phone number (for the address was just gonna use my hotel). The lottery window has since passed, but my concern is that I will only be able to purchase the tickets through pia and therefore need a Japanese phone number solution ready to go before the general sale. I saw that I can get a Japanese sim through a company called Mobal and it could be nice to just have that ready to go when I visit Japan in September regardless, but I don't think I'd be able to send/receive SMS messages while still in the states so I'm not sure that'd actually do it for me.
Basically, for anyone who has experience seeing the pillows in Japan while visiting from another country, how did it work out for you and do you have any tips? Can I just wait for tickets to appear on e+ or will I miss the boat? I'll have fun in Japan regardless, but it's been my dream since like middle school to see them live so any tips are appreciated! :)
cool side project of sawao and his older brother hidetoshi. some neat songs on youtube, this is my favorite.
At the very beginning! I can't remember that song from any album!
Long shot question, big fan of The Pillows: I'm actually going to be in Osaka on July 11th, them playing didn't even cross my mind until I googled it for fun just now. The one website I can find to buy tickets is sold out, but this is a once in a lifetime trip for me, and I would pay scalper prices to see this band if I can. This is my Taylor Swift.
Does anyone know how resale tickets work in Japan? I can't find any website that currently has them for sale, and would appreciate any leads besides hanging out in front of the venue and seeing if any scalpers have tickets like I would do for a US show. Quick google searches have suggested stores in the area may have tickets as well but I won't know til I'm there in 40 days.
Even further of a long shot, anyone going to the July 11th show and have a spare ticket?
Hi all, in line with the earlier poster, I'd really like to see The Pillows - realizing I could see them live kicked me into actively planning a trip to Japan instead of it being a "someday" thing. But, the listings I can find at the moment only go out to July, which is a bit too close, and I'm trying to get an idea of how well I can plan to see them from a year out.
So I was curious if anyone had insight on whether The Pillows are regularly booking shows a couple months ahead, and I'm not going to be able to plan that into a trip a year out - which is fine, I'll just have to play it by ear - or if this last batch of shows was part of a larger tour and they only rarely do shows, period. In the mean time, I've subscribed to get updates on the band so I can try and get an idea myself.
Cheers!
